One thing I realized while reading about these authors was that many of them started their careers by taking a leap of faith. They all come from different backgrounds and didn’t follow the same path to getting published dozens of times, but have focused their work around God’s word and where God is leading them. Just imagine if we all followed God’s calling and could touch others in the way these authors have.

I just finished reading the book by Phil Robertson, Happy, Happy, Happy and I am even more impressed with this man than I was before reading it. For those who do not know, Phil Robertson is the patriarch of the family showcased on the reality TV show Duck Dynasty. He is also the inventor of a line of duck calls known as ‘Duck Commander’. The family resides in West Monroe, Louisiana. This book is his autobiography.

As impressive as his business career has been, it is Phil’s spiritual journey and his current evangelistic zeal that has endeared him and his family to me, and many other Christians. Through what Phil sees as God’s hand in his life, the Robertson family has been thrust into the public spotlight. As Phil sees it, this is the perfect time and venue to aggressively spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Phil’s Journey

Phil Robertson was not always a God-fearing Christian. Like so many others, he experienced the destructive consequences of his sinful lifestyle. Being an intense man, one who fully commits himself to anything he sets his mind to, Phil intensely became involved in a life of drinking. It is fact born out over and over again that sinful living brings with it terrible consequences and misery. During his drinking days, Phil almost lost his wife and family.

God had a different plan for Phil Robertson, and He arranged for good people to pursue Phil with the Gospel of Jesus until Phil realized his need for forgiveness and salvation. As I said before, Phil is an intense man, and he quickly became an intense Christian.

Phil-osophies

On the television show, Duck Dynasty, we get to see a sampling of Phil’s philosophy (pun intended); however, the book expands and develops his thinking and really gives the reader an in-depth look at this man whose main goal in life is following God’s will.

“For those who do not know, Phil Robertson is the patriarch of the family showcased on the reality TV show Duck Dynasty. He is also the inventor of a line of duck calls known as ‘Duck Commander’.”

Along with the story of his life, Phil covers subjects near and dear to him; such as his disdain with newfangled technology, his love for hunting and the woods, his evaluation of women, his work ethic, disciplining children, forgiveness, eating crawfish, and his love of sharing the Gospel with those he comes into contact.

One chapter that really resonated with me was the final chapter, “Founding Fathers” [subtitled Read the Bible (We Can Still Save This Once-Great Country—It's Not Too Late)]. This spoke to my belief that Christians should have a positive attitude towards evangelizing the country, and the world. Too many Christians have the idea that it is inevitable that life on earth becomes more and more Godless until the end of time. Therefore, far too many believers simply live out their faith in quiet anticipation of the end, not believing that things could be changed if they became active and vocal in sharing the Gospel.

Phil believes, as do I, that it is the Christian’s responsibility to vote and participate in the political arena. He puts it this way, “I’d never voted until I was twenty-nine, but I decided I ought to do so in order to help put godly men and women in positions of authority – instead of a bunch of heathens – since God works through people” (p.205). If Christians remain silent in any area of life, the only voice that will be heard will be the voice of the godless.

A slice of lovable redneck life

This book is full of interesting stories, colorful characters, and a wonderful look at a manner of living that most in this day and age have never experienced. Phil’s story is a story of a hard, but good, life lived in an old world way where one catches, kills, grows, or trades for the necessities of life. I found the book fascinating and the one thing I did not like about it was that, far sooner than I liked, it was over. Much like every episode of Duck Dynasty (which can be seen on the A&E Network), the book ended sooner than I wanted it to.

Conclusion

I have found the Robertson family, and their friends, to be very wholesome and refreshingly clean; plus, they are very open and vocal about their faith in Jesus Christ. I highly recommend this book as a positive force for the Gospel. Christians should be glad that a show that reveals a family’s deep faith in God in being broadcast on national television. We should be praying that their faith remains strong and that stardom does not lure them into doing anything that God would not have them do. Believers should rejoice that the message of Jesus is being presented in an honest and winsome manner. A shining example of biblical evangelism.

Father Abraham

This song is sung seven times, each time adding another action. The arms are bent up at the elbows and the feet are lifted as if marching.Take a look:

I’m In the Lord’s Army

This is another action song. Be sure there is plenty of room between the kids when you sing this one so when they “fly o’er the enemy” they don’t hit each other with their wings.

I may never march in the infantry (march)

Ride in the cavalry (pretend you’re riding a horse)

Shoot the artillery (clap hands together and move one hand into the air like a missile)

I may never fly o’er the enemy (fly like a bird)

But I’m in the Lord’s army (point to self and then up to God)

I’m in the Lord’s army, yes, sir! (salute)

I’m in the Lord’s army, yes, sir!

I may never march in the infantry

Ride in the cavalry

Shoot the artillery

I may never fly o’er the enemy

But I’m in the Lord’s army, yes, sir!

Jesus Love Me

This is a song that was written many years ago that remains to be one of the first songs parents teach their children.

Jesus loves me this I know

For the Bible tells me so

Little ones to Him belong

They are weak but He is strong

Yes Jesus loves me

Yes Jesus loves me

Yes Jesus loves me

The Bible tells me so

Jesus Love the Little Children

In this simple children’s song of faith we can teach children the Bible truth that “… Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons” (Acts 10:34 KJV)

Jesus loves the little children

All the children of the world

Red and yellow black and white

They are precious in His sight

Jesus loves the little children of the world

Joy Joy Joy (Down in My Heart)

In this song the children sing how happy they are because of the joy that they have “down in my heart”. There can be several verses to this song but my two favorite are:

I’ve got that joy joy joy joy

Down in my heart

Down in my heart

Down in my heart

I’ve got that joy joy joy joy

Down in my heart

Down in my heart to stay

And I’m so happy

So very happy

I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart

And I’m so happy so very happy

I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart

I’ve got the peace that passes understanding

Down in my heart

Down in my heart

Down in my heart

I’ve got the peace that passes understanding

Down in my heart

Down in my heart to stay

My God is So Big

This song teaches children about the almighty power of God. Watch the video below to learn the actions:

My God is so great, so strong and so mighty!

There’s nothing my God cannot do!

My God is so great, so strong and so mighty!

There’s nothing my God cannot do!

The mountains are His, the rivers are His;

The stars are His handiwork, too,

My God is so great, so strong and so mighty!

There’s nothing my God cannot do!

There’s nothing my God cannot do!

There’s nothing my God cannot do!

FOR YOU!

Rise and Shine (Arky Arky)

This is a fun song to teach children the true Bible story of Noah and the Ark. It tells of Noah’s faith in the Lord when he built the “Arky Arky” even though it had never rained before. I learned this one as a child. Here are a couple of my favorite verses:

The Lord told Noah

There’s gonna be a floody floody

The Lord told Noah

There’s gonna be a floody floody

Get those children out of the muddy muddy

Children of the Lord

So rise and shine and give God the glory glory

Rise and shine and give God the glory glory

Rise and shine and give God the glory glory

Children of the Lord

The Lord told Noah

To build Him an arky arky

Lord told Noah

To build Him an arky arky

Build it out of gopher barky barky

Children of the Lord

The B-I-B-L-E

This is another one of the first songs you can teach to children. You spell out the word Bible as you sing.

The B-I-B-L-E

Yes, that’s the book for me

I stand alone on the Word of God

The B-I-B-L-E

I could go on and on with more songs for you and, in fact, I have at least 10 other songs on my list. Can you share some more?

While there was definitely some creative license taken and the film is as much creative as it is documentary it is still and dramatic undertaking to bring the truth of God’s Word to a new audience.

When talking about “to do lists” she touches on how many times they don’t even get started or finished. She then brings God into the equation and says, “Apparently God had days like this in mind when he created air because it’s right here under your nose. Otherwise you wouldn’t remember to breathe. There’s no time for that. It would be like: 2 o’clock I’ve got an inhale there. At 3:15 maybe exhale there. And could you tell my bladder to hold?”

One of his comedy bits involves talking about things we heard growing up in prayer and now we say them because we think that’s what we’re supposed to do, even if they sound a little quirky.

“Have you ever heard ‘a hedge of protection’? Dan we are building a hedge of protection around you buddy. That’s right! A hedge around you and your whole family.”

“A hedge, huh? I don’t mean to complain, but is that the best you can do? How about a thick cement wall?”

3. Ken Davis

In one of Ken’s comedy bits he asks how many young people are in the crowd. Afterwards he says, “You just enjoy it because someday you’re gonna get older and strange stuff is gonna happen to you. You’ll walk into a room and make a little circle like a dog looking for a place to lay down cuz you’re trying to remember why you came into the stupid room.”

Bonus Joke

Two little boys were best friends at church, but they both had a reputation for getting into trouble. One Sunday, one of the boys was home sick, but the other boy, not wanting to let his friend down, was twice as bad as normal.

As he was running through the sanctuary after church, the pastor grabbed him and angrily said, “Where’s God?!”

The little boy was frightened and didn’t know what to say.

The pastor continued, “I want you to go home and think about it and I don’t want you to come back until you can tell me where God is.”

The boy went home and called his sick friend on the telephone. “Guess what,” he said. “They’ve lost God, and they’re trying to blame that one on us, too.”

Conclusion

Rich Mullins was a Christian music sensation from when he first came to the professional stage in the 1980’s. He poured his soul into his song writing and vocals and you can hear the humble, compassionate and God-driven person he was through his music. He was a man with a purpose and seemed to portray part of himself in all of his work. Rich lived a very humble life with a greater purpose to fulfill God’s will.

Mullins left a legacy behind when his life was cut short in September 1997. This article is to remember whom he was as a musician and the Christian that so many remember him by.

Musical Influence from The Beginning

Wayne Mullins, the name his family referred to him as when he was younger, was raised on a farm in Richmond, Indiana. He was introduced to music at a very young age and his great grandma is credited with teaching him how to play four-part harmonies as a youngster.

As his musical education was built, he became an active vocalist, songwriter and pianist for the New Creations Choir. After high school he attended the Cincinnati Bible College and then went on to become both the Youth Director and Music Director in Erlanger, Kentucky at the Erlanger United Methodist Church.

He was also immersed in his mother’s Quaker teachings of peace and social justice. This was very evident throughout his message in many songs and performances in his career. Another major influence in his life was St. Francis of Assisi, which could be seen through his humble lifestyle. Mullins didn’t own a home and took a very small salary compared to the millions he made throughout his career. His typical stage attire included sweatpants and t-shirts.

“The Truth” Psalm 25: 9 “He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way.

Family Life

Mullins was engaged in the early 80’s and he wrote the song “Doubly Good To you” for his wedding, but was left heartbroken when his fiancée broke off the relationship. He fell in love again in the late 80’s after moving to Wichita, Kansas while attending the Central Christian Church, but he never got married.

Going Professional

Rich finally decided to focus on his professional career in the 1980’s while in his mid-20’s. He established a unique style and way of performing that gave you a sense of the genuine love and passion he had for Christ. Similar to Michael W. Smith today, Mullins viewed his performances as a ministry and way of spreading God’s word. This was exemplified well in his two most well known hits. “Awesome God” (claimed to have been written at the Rock Lake Christian Assembly in Vestaburg, Michigan) and “Sometimes by Step” are beloved by Christians and sung by churches to this day.

“Rich Mullins was a Christian music sensation from when he first came to the professional stage in the 1980’s. He poured his soul into his song writing and vocals and you can hear the humble, compassionate and God-driven person he was through his music.”

As Mullins became more and more successful, he maintained the practice of sending all profits to his home church. The church paid him a salary based on the average salary in the United States for that year and the remaining money he made was donated to various charities. One time, he told his accountant that it was far easier to give his money away when he didn’t know how much he had.

Mullins was very talented and could adapt to many different styles of music. In 1993 he formed A Ragamuffin Band with many of his friends and they often brought in different tastes of music, including Celtic, upbeat and inspiring, and also deep, dark and emotional. Whenever Rich played, the songs seemed to become part of him and he poured his soul out in his lyrics, voice, emotions and body gestures.

A Musical Mark

In 1991, Rich enrolled as a student at Friends University and then, after graduating, he moved out to New Mexico to teach music to children. He had started a program that is now called The Legacy of a Kid Brother of St. Frank that focused on bringing art and drama programs and music camps to Native American children. His family chose to continue this work and has helped introduce children across the county to music and arts.

“The Truth” Matthew 19:14 “but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.

Religious Views

His religious views started to change in the 90’s and he was slowly moving toward Catholicism. His music portrayed this with some of the themes in his songs and he was becoming more vocal about his religious move. According to Father Matt McGuiness, who was a dear friend of Mullins, Rich was going to proclaim his conversion to the Catholic faith on what would have been just days after he died. Many people partly attribute this to Mullin’s fascination with the work and life of St. Francis of Assisi.

A Tragic End

For so many, Rich Mullins died too young. He had recorded and produced many top-selling albums, but he had more to share. On September 19, 1997, he and Mitch McVicker were on their way to a benefit concert in Hillsboro, Kansas and they lost control of their Jeep. The vehicle rolled over and both musicians were ejected because they were not wearing seatbelts. A semi-trailer truck swerved to miss the Jeep, but did not see Mullins lying in the road from his injuries and could not swerve to miss him. McVicker was seriously injured, but survived the unthinkable accident.

Legacy Still Lives On

The loss of Rich Mullins was hard to comprehend and a stark reminder for many that life is short. Now, 16 years later, we still remember Rich and audiences everywhere are still captivated by his unique perspective on music and Christianity. He worked with many of the top Christian artists of the 80’s and numerous artists have covered his songs through the years, including Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Third Day, Chris Rice and Jars of Clay.

Final Thoughts

What I connect with the most is the type of person Rich Mullins was and you could see this through his daily actions. He was honest, sincere and lived with a purpose. He could have had mansions, vacations, stylists, cooks and so many other perks that celebrities live for. These earthly blessings didn’t sway Rich and he chose the same standard of living in his later years that he had when he was first beginning. His compassion for those around him was thought provoking and he continued to proclaim God’s glory the more successful he became.

“The Truth” Exodus 15:11 “Who is like you, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?

One final note, I have focused on the positive aspects of Rich’s character and successes, but he was open about struggles he faced in his daily life and he did not see himself as perfect. This is very inspiring because he wasn’t trying to impress anyone, but trying to allow God to transform him daily.

What Do You Remember?

I did not have the opportunity to see him play live, so please share with me your fondest memories of Rich’s performances and your favorite songs!

Tim Tebow is one of the most widely known and followed players in football. He has made a name for himself in being a Christian. Anyone who has heard of him should know this fact about him. He is a believer in Jesus Christ and he is not ashamed to show it at all. The issue with this is that many people don’t want him to promote his faith from the stage that he is on. So, why is Tim Tebow so controversial? This is because he is choosing to show the love of Jesus Christ to a secular world. Let’s look at some of the things from his past and present that he is doing for the kingdom and why those things may bring negative criticism from unbelievers or positive criticism from believers.

Events From The Past: Verses in the Eye Black

While playing for the University of Florida, Tim Tebow was widely known for putting scripture verses in his eye black. Christians all over were excited for this! Tim was a man of God standing up with visible verses for people to see on him. It was great! However, on the other side of the spectrum, the nay sayers would hurl insults at him. His eye black verses were so controversial that they were banned from being used by the end of his career.

Here are three of the verses that he used:

John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”

Ephesians 2:8-10 – “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

James 1:2-4 – “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”

Present Controversy

On April 29, 2013 the New York Jets released Tim Tebow and there have not been any solid offers thrown his way. Tim has a lot of negativity following him because of “Tebowmania.” Many believe that the press he gets doesn’t merit the attention he receives because his skill level is not high enough to receive so much publicity. Many feel like all of that attention will distract the other players. Owners don’t want to commit to Tim because of this reason. So, his career is hanging in the balance and he may very well have to join the Canadian league before ever having a chance to join the ranks of the NFL again.

Also, “Tebowing” has always been an ongoing controversial issue with him. In case you don’t know, “Tebowing” is when he gets down on one knee to say a prayer or give thanks to God. Many feel it is too invasive or “in your face”. This also is a reason why he may not get picked up by another NFL team. Owners don’t want to deal with all of the media and negative attention that the secular world gives him. Christians love this quality about him though. He is one of the biggest role models out there to Christian families everywhere.

<img class="size-medium wp-image-4056" alt=""Tim Tebow has the most dedicated fans in all of football. Christians around the United States applaud his boldness to defend and uphold the gospel of Jesus Christ. Christians around the United States applaud his boldness to defend and uphold the gospel of Jesus Christ. For this reason, he has created quite a controversy with those who oppose the Christian faith.”

His Future?

Well, as of now Tim has no idea what his future is. Many think his skill level is not NFL worthy, so he may be headed to the Canadian league. However, they may not want him there either. So if he isn’t playing football, what is left for him? Well, there may be a bright future for him in preaching, public speaking or even being a motivational speaker. While his faith in God is very evident, his loyalty to our Creator is just as strong. He has said himself, “If all I am is a football player and that is it I would consider my life to be a tragedy. Being an inspiration is more important that winning football games. I want to be a great role model to the next generation. In the short term, I want to be the best football player I can be. In the long term, I want to inspire people. At the end of the day I can do that through the platform football gave me.”

Conclusion

Tim Tebow has the most dedicated fans in all of football. Christians around the United States applaud his boldness to defend and uphold the gospel of Jesus Christ. For this reason, he has created quite a controversy with those who oppose the Christian faith. His past controversial issues with the eye black were at the beginning of this ordeal. However, he stayed strong and continued “Tebowing” at every game. Now, his future is a controversy because he has no idea where he will wind up next. However, the way he has conducted himself through all of the ups and downs of his career is something to be admired. His faith is real and I really don’t think he is scared of his future. He knows that God is in control. God bless you!

Former members include Jack Parker, David Crowder, Jeremy “B-Wack” Bush, Mike Hogan, Mark Waldrop, Jason Solley, and Taylor Johnson. When they separated David Crowder was planning on starting a solo career, but has since shifted gears and has started a new group called “Crowder”. They have had many hit singles over the years, here is a list counting down the top 15 of all time from the former Christian group, The David Crowder Band.

Conclusion

As they say all good things must come to an end. That is definitely the case here as The David Crowder Band has certainly delivered some big hits and made some huge contributions to the Christian music community. Although it’s unfortunate they broke up in 2012 they have cemented a legacy as one of the bands that led Christian music toward becoming the fastest growing genre in the music industry today. They will certainly be missed, but at least all members of the band will still be continuing their respective careers and will still be making music that glorifies God. Tell the F&E team in the comment section if we missed your favorite song from The David Crowder Band. God bless, Jesus is the one true king!

So here are my choices for the top 25 Christian albums of all time and just as a heads up Third Day will make several appearances because they’re my favorite…

# 25 Redemption Songs – Jars of Clay

A wonderful ode to classic hymns done with the unique styling’s of Jars of Clay a must have for fans of the group and anyone who likes to hear hymns done with a different flavor.

# 24 Speechless – Steven Curtis Chapman

Probably the crowning achievement of Chapman’s career this is an amazing testament to his talent and the work God has done through him over the years.

# 23 Loving God Loving Each Other – Gaither Vocal Band

Not many people could forget or not enjoy a Gaither homecoming and this album was the first of theirs that I ever received and it is still my favorite Gaither offering.

# 22 Third Day – Third Day

The band’s debut album is a little low on the list for me but it is still a fantastic southern rock and worship album and if you don’t own it you should.

# 21 It’s Pronounced Five Two – KJ-52

While I am not a big rap fan KJ-52 has given a wonderful alternative to mainstream artists like Eminem and has done so with style and grace. It’s Pronounced Five Two is a prime example of that.

“The Truth” Romans 5:10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.

# 15 Tonight – Toby Mac

Post D.C. Talk Toby Mac showed the music world where much of the Talk’s talent came from. Not to put down the other two members of the band who have gone on to do some wonderful work but Toby Mac, in his solo efforts, has made a huge splash in Christian music. And who doesn’t like “Funky Jesus Music”?

# 14 Momento Mori – Flyleaf

So we could maybe flip 14 and 12 if we needed to by Fireflight offers us another inspiring look at a female lead in the hard rock and metal world of Christian music. Hitting the music scene big time when their hit “Unbreakable” was used in a short lived tv show they have powered their way to the top and keep giving us great music.

# 9 Give Us Rest – David Crowder Band

Need to Breathes latest album with one of my favorite songs “Eyes Wide Open” is a prime example of this great band’s talent and what they add to the Christian music community.

# 6 Hello Hurricane – Switchfoot

# 1 Revelation – Third Day

The greatest from the greatest! While there are those who will argue the best Christian band and the best Christian album of all time for me Third Day takes the cake, the frosting and the pan it was caked in. Revelation is the ultimate show of their talent, their passion for Jesus and why they deserve to be on top of this and any other list.

I don’t consider myself a great singer, but I love to sing karaoke! It’s a great way to have fun, learn about your friends and even find some hidden talent. What makes a song a great karaoke song? The best songs need to be well known (so others can laugh when you mess up), energetic and fairly short. If you aren’t a talented singer, you might want to choose songs with repeating lyrics. God loves to hear our singing, so no matter how talented you are, remember to sing with praise to God. You never know, you might actually nail some high notes along the way!

Here’s my list of the top 20 Christian karaoke songs.

“The Truth” (Jeremiah 29:11) For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

#20 Good Morning – Mandisa

I wouldn’t recommend this song for the beginner, but it has a great beat to it. It can be challenging because the beat changes and there are quite a few lyrics to learn.

#19 Beautiful, Beautiful – Francesca Battistelli

Although this song starts out slow, it quickly picks up the pace! This one is a little more vocally challenging in the chorus.

#18 O Praise Him – David Crowder Band

The words work well with the slower melody and the chorus is what makes the song a must sing in karaoke. It can be challenging to follow if you don’t know the song well, so you’ll need to practice before jumping onto the stage.

#17 City on Our Knees – Toby Mac

The pace is upbeat and easy to follow, but the chorus can be difficult to negotiate. The words are fairly easy to follow and flow well with the song.

#16 You are Everything – Matthew West

With a fast, upbeat flow to get started, it’s a great song to get the crowd’s attention. The chorus is easy to follow and allows you to it belt out.

#15 How Great is Our God – Chris Tomlin

Many people know this song since it was a big hit when it first came out. The melody is even, so it’s fairly easy to follow even if you don’t know all the lyrics.

<img class="size-medium wp-image-3978" alt=""I don’t consider myself a great singer, but I love to sing karaoke! It’s a great way to have fun, learn about your friends and even find some hidden talent.”

#14 Glorious Day – Casting Crowns

This song tells a great message and since it’s well known, it’s easy to sing. The chorus is faster, but the majority of the song is slower.

#13 Until the Whole World Hears – Casting Crowns

If you are looking for an edgy rock song, this is a great pick. Your voice won’t get lost in the music and the energy kicks up in the chorus.

#12 Strong Tower – Kutless

This one is shorter than some of the previous songs and is fairly upbeat throughout the song. The lyrics don’t repeat, so you might want to practice this one a few times.

#11 My Savior My God – Aaron Shust

This song starts out slow, but builds energy to the chorus. The lyrics are easy to follow and your voice doesn’t need a lot of range to hit the notes. Remember to take a few breaths when repeating chorus!

Top Ten Songs!

“The Truth” (1 John 3:1) See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.

#10 Your Love – Brandon Heath

This song is easy to sing and you can connect with the audience. It’s overall a little more mellow, but the chorus repeats quite a bit and it picks up the pace toward the end of the song.

#9 Overcome – Jon Egan

As a popular worship tune, you might find the crowd singing with you! This is an overall great choice since it’s easy to follow, not as vocally challenging and is just the right length. You can also put your own spin on some of the notes, which will make you more unique as a karaoke singer.

#8 God’s Not Dead – Newsboys

Get ready for a high-energy performance with this song. The lyrics are easy to sing and they fit the flow of the melody. The beat slows down around halfway through and explodes into an energetic ending.

#7 Live Like That – Sidewalk Prophets

As a fairly new song, this one has captured a large audience quickly. It’s shorter than some of the others and it holds your attention through the chorus. This is an excellent choice for a high-energy performer.

#6 Lead Me – Sanctus Real

This is a favorite one to sing to because of the strong chorus and it connects to many people in the audience. There are quite a few lyrics, but it flows nicely.

Top 5 Songs!

“The Truth” (Psalms 27: 1) The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

#5 All This Time – Brit Nicole

I like this pick because you can feel the emotion through the words. The beat is easy to follow and it carries consistent energy, making it my #5 pick.

Favorite lyrics: Ever since that day, it’s been clear to me, That no matter what comes, You will never leave, I know You’re for me, and You’re restoring, Every heartache and failure, Every broken dream.

#4 I Refuse – Josh Wilson

Coming in at #4, the lyrics match the melody well, making it easier to sing. It does not require a huge vocal range, but gives you the opportunity to add your own touch.

Favorite lyrics: To sit around and wait for someone else, To do what God has told me to do myself, Oh I could choose not to move, but I refuse.

#3 Do Everything – Steven Curtis Chapman

If rap is your style, this one is very close and my #3 pick. There are a lot of lyrics, but they are well balanced with the high energy melody.

Favorite lyrics: Cause He made you, To do, Every little thing that you do, To bring a smile to His face, Tell the story of grace, With every move that you make, And every little thing that you do.

#2 Courageous – Casting Crowns

The lyrics are simple and the chorus helps break up the song, making it an easy one to follow. It’s a great song to start on when first starting karaoke, making it my #2 pick.

Favorite lyrics: Where are you, men of courage? You were made to be so much more, Let the pounding of our heart cry, We will serve the Lord.

And my #1 pick goes to…

#1 Get Back Up – Toby Mac

This song is at the top of my list for energy, length and lyrics that everyone knows! Joyful is what comes to mind when I hear the beat. The chorus is very catchy, which makes it a great song for an audience to sing along with. Bring a little attitude, some fist pumps and your crowd will love you!

Favorite lyrics: One day, you gonna shine again, You may be knocked down but not out forever, Lose our way, get back up again. So get up, get up!

What’s your pick?

Go ahead, sing a few of these songs and let me know which ones would make your top five list! Above all, praise God and you will have a great time.
