Yesterday me and my friends went to a medical store and saw an old man probably 70+ asking for price of some medicine the store guy said it will cost Rs. 170 ( $3.4 ) then he opened the folded handkerchief and started counting money. He had only Rs.67 ( $1.6 ) so he asked to give medicines which comes in that budget. My friend told him "kaka mai de deta hun uper ka paisa" ( Uncle let me pay the balance amount ) but still he refused and said "mere bete meri help nahi kar rahe jane do tum shikriya mujhe itna hi kafi hai" ( My own son doesn't help me, your concern about me is enough ). And shopkeeper gave him medicine said "ye lo kaka itne dawayee ayengi isme". ( Only this much medicine will come in the amount you gave me ) That old man might not realize but shopkeeper had already given all the medicine of Rs.170 ( $3.4 ) without him knowing.

UNH athlete ends career to donate bone marrow

A University of New Hampshire athlete is ending his career so he can donate bone marrow to a cancer patient he has never met.

"You can't measure life against anything. When you have an opportunity to save someone, you gotta go for it," said Cameron Lyle.

During his sophomore year, Lyle and many other UNH athletes had their mouths swabbed to join the bone marrow registry. Then a few months ago, as he was preparing to finish up his senior season of track, Lyle received a phone call from the National Marrow Donor program. He was a match for someone who desperately needed a donor.

"I said yes immediately. When they said I was a match, they said, "Would you like to proceed? I said absolutely. And then when I hung up the phone I said, "Well I guess athletics are over now," Lyle said.

He is heading to Massachusetts General Hospital on Wednesday morning to begin the donor process.

"Basically they're putting needles in my pelvis between one and two hundred times, taking all the bone marrow out. So I can't lift more than 20 pounds for three to four weeks. It took the whole second half of the season out of play for the championships," he said.

By law, Lyle and the recipient must remain anonymous to each other for at least one year. All he knows about the person receiving his marrow is that he is a 28-year-old man with leukemia. A man Lyle said he is so glad to help and hopes to meet one day.

"I really want to meet him. I hope he wants to meet me too," Lyle said.

Right now the cancer patient to whom he is donating has been given six months to live.

The hope is that Lyle's bone marrow donation could extend his life by at least two more years.

A lesson from a mumbai rickshaw driver

Suvendu Roy of Titan Industries, who shares his inspirational encounter with a rickshaw driver in Mumbai, India:

... One Sunday, my wife, kid, and I had to travel to Andheri from Bandra. When I waved at a passing auto rickshaw, little did I expect that this ride would be any different...

I looked in front and there was a small TV. The driver had put on the Doordarshan channel.

My wife and I looked at each other with disbelief and amusement. In front of me was a small first-aid box with cotton, dettol and some medicines.

This was enough for me to realize that I was in a special vehicle.

Then I looked round again, and discovered more - there was a radio, fire extinguisher, wall clock, calendar, and pictures and symbols of all faiths

- from Islam and Christianity to Buddhism, Hinduism and Sikhism.

There were also pictures of the heroes of 26/11- Kamte, Salaskar, Karkare and Unnikrishnan.

I realized that not only my vehicle, but also my driver was special.

I started chatting with him and the initial sense of ridicule and disbelief gradually diminished.

I gathered that he had been driving an auto rickshaw for the past 8-9 years; he had lost his job when his employer's plastic company was shut down.

He had two school-going children, and he drove from 8 in the morning till 10 at night.

No break unless he was unwell. "Sahab, ghar mein baith ke T.V dekh kar kya faida? Do paisa income karega toh future mein kaam aayega." (sir, there is no good in watching television at home if i earn a little extra it will help me in the future)

We realized that we had come across a man who represents Mumbai – the spirit of work, the spirit of travel and the spirit of excelling in life.

I asked him whether he does anything else as I figured that he did not have too much spare time.

He said that he goes to an old age home for women in Andheri once a week or whenever he has some extra income, where he donates tooth brushes, toothpastes, soap, hair oil, and other items of daily use.

He pointed out to a painted message below the meter that read: "25 per cent discount on metered fare for the handicapped.

Free rides for blind passengers up to Rs. 50.

My wife and I were struck with awe. The man was a HERO!

A hero who deserves all our respect!!!

Our journey came to an end;

45 minutes of a lesson in humility, selflessness, and of a hero-worshipping Mumbai, my temporary home.

We disembarked, and all I could do was
to pay him a tip that would hardly cover a
free ride for a blind man.

Lawyer Gives Up His Home to Homeless Family for a Year

A California lawyer is giving up his fully-furnished home in Los Angeles for a homeless family to live in for a year, according to the New York Daily News.

Tony Tolbert, 51, says that his act of kindness just feels like the right thing to do.

“You don’t have to be Bill Gates or Warren Buffet or Oprah,” Tolbert told CBS News. ”We can do it wherever we are, with whatever we have, and for me, I have a home that I can make available.”

Tolbert will move back in with his mother for the year and continue working. It was in his mother’s house that Tolbert says he learned to be a giving and caring young man.

Growing up Tolbert says that his father always lent the family’s spare bedroom to someone in need.

Tolbert’s dad now suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, but the lessons his dad taught him stuck with Tolbert.

“He is so giving, he’s always been that way,” Tony’s mom, Marie Tolbert, told CBS News.

Tolbert found the family he is giving his house up to in a local shelter. He met Felicia Dukes, who was broke and having a hard time providing for four children. The oldest child wasn’t even allowed to stay at the shelter that was only for children and women.

Dukes couldn’t believe the fate that she had suddenly been afforded when she was initially told.

“They had a young man that wanted to donate their house to you for a year,” she recalled. “And I’m looking at her, like, what? Like — Are you serious?”

Dukes’ family would be able all live together once again and get back on their feet.

“My heart just fills up,” Dukes said. “I’m just really happy.”

Tolbert says ultimately he hopes his story encourages others to give and think about others more than themselves.

“Kindness creates kindness. Generosity creates generosity. Love creates love,” Tolbert said. ”And I think if we can share some of that and have more stories about people doing nice things for other people, and fewer stories about people doing horrible things to other people, that’s a better world.”

CEO of Lenovo gives his $3 million bonus to his employees

The generous CEO of Lenovo, a very large Chinese computer building company, decided to give away his incredible $3 million bonus to all of his employees.

Lenovo has been rising the charts recently passing DELL in profits and closing the gap on Hewlett Packard. The first 3 months of the year, Lenovo experienced a 73% increase in profits resulting in the bonus awarded to their CEO Yuanqing. Lenovo is very happy with the progress the company has made this year. Who wouldn't be?

Yuanqing split the bonus up and divided the amount evenly to 10,000 lower level employees. Each employee received a bonus amount of about $315, which is actually one month's pay for some.

Yuanqing took this opportunity to reward the hardworking, loyal employees that aided in the company's success when he could have easily flown under the radar and kept the money for himself.

Although the company decided only to reward Yuanqing, he believed others deserved to be rewarded too, and made sure that happened.

Most people will agree that they consider CEO's of large companies to be over paid, greedy and selfish. This example should help restore your faith in humanity. Let's hope other companies will follow Yuanqing's lead and continue to reward the lower level employees that work just as hard, if not harder.

It takes an honest, generous person to give away $3 million. No matter how much you make, that is a ton of money to pass on.

Saturday night, I had been on the clock for 15 minutes at work. I was in a depressed\sad mood for whatever reason. There was a man who came in, as he always does, with old clothes, and his backpack, filled with the very few things he has. He goes to work almost daily and he will do odd jobs for people to get the little money he has. Shortly after he arrived, he sat down and ordered his burger. The sweet couple at my other table were getting ready to pay for their food. As the man walked up to hand me his money, he asked me, with tears in his eyes, if i knew anything about the man who seemed to be homeless. I told him what I knew. He looked at me for a couple seconds and handed me $20. He told me to pay for the mans food, and give him the change.

I don't think I've ever cried so much in my life.

I then told him not to worry about his meal, that I would cover it, and with a God bless you and a smile I have never seen, he and his wife left.
I see posts on Facebook about this all the time, but I have never thought I would be around when something so wonderful happened.
I have a roof over my head, a job, a car, and an education. And while I'm self- loathing on the things that will have no affect on my future, someone else is trying to figure where his next meal will come from.

This man, with with his own money, didn't care to give it to someone who is struggling.
How I wish everyone would be like that.
It was an act so small, but yet so big in comparison to many things we see that happen around us.

To top it all off, after I went to his table to tell him that someone paid for his food, and wanted to give him money, I seen hope. And that's not something that happens very often. After he had left, he left me a good tip on the table, with some of the money he had left over. A man, who virtually has nothing, left me a little extra of the money that was given to him. How kind and thoughtful for someone who is in a way different situation than you and I.

Thank you God, for giving me what I have. And even though I complain and I want, and want, and want, you keep my family and I safe.
And to the gracious man, thank you. You opened my eyes again to see that not everyone can be as lucky as others. I can only hope I can leave an impact on someone's heart as you have left on mine.
And finally, to the man who had shown me a glimmer of hope, thank you. Even when you have nothing, you have a kind and wonderful spirit. And you are more than just another person on this earth, you are an angel in disguise.

NYPD officer photographed giving boots to barefoot homeless man

On Nov. 14, NYPD officer Lawrence DePrimo, who was on counterterrorism duty in Times Square, saw the older homeless man without shoes sitting on 42nd Street. DePrimo, 25, left and then returned with a pair of $100 boots he bought at a nearby Skechers store.

"It was freezing out, and you could see the blisters on the man's feet," DePrimo, a three-year veteran of the department who lives with his parents on Long Island, told the New York Times. "I had two pairs of socks, and I was still cold."

The random act of kindness was captured by Jennifer Foster, a tourist from Florence, Ariz., who was visiting the city. Foster, communications director for the Pinal County Sheriff's Office in Arizona, emailed the photo to the NYPD with a note commending DePrimo.

"The officer said, 'I have these size 12 boots for you, they are all-weather. Let's put them on and take care of you,'" Foster wrote. "The officer squatted down on the ground and proceeded to put socks and the new boots on this man.

"I have been in law enforcement for 17 years," she continued. "I was never so impressed in my life. ... It is important, I think, for all of us to remember the real reason we are in this line of work. The reminder this officer gave to our profession in his presentation of human kindness has not been lost."

I have not yet done an act of extraordinary kindess, but seeing the images i have seen today and thought the things ive thought and felt the things ive felt...I hope will throw me into performing

the acts of kindness that ive always wanted to do, but for some reason never have. i hope that one day i can do these things not only without a second thought, but also without gloating over what a great person I must be, doing the things that are only right. thank u for encouraging such a wonderful cure to sadness and terror, and bless u
