Some great ideas! We're talking about creating a positive Christian counterculture at our young adults ministry at the moment and have talked about a variety of ways to do community and minister to other people's needs (including using the net).

We've had some success with using bebo and myspace to get connected with friends and as a media for testimonies. Will let my guys know about your site!

You could also go to PrisonerAlert and send an email to somebody who has been jailed for their Christian beliefs

Don't forget, you can also answer questions on LinkedIN as well. I find the quality of interaction on LinkedIN is usually superior to that of Yahoo! Answers and Wis.dm (I've asked and answered questions on all three services).

Because Yahoo! and Wis.dm are flat social networking sites, hoping to get literally everybody on the planet involved, many of the questions there are "bait" for bashing and you have to have a pretty thick skin. Not that it's not worth doing, but beware that your answer may not be read with the same sincerity you answered it in.

You can also browse Usenet News vai Google to find questions demanding answers. Again, though, this is flamewar heavan, so strap on your asbestos keyboard before venturing out.

If you want someone to pray for, you can always head over to the anonymous confessions sites (like Daily confessions,IvescrewedUp, MySecretTV, GroupHug, and others) where folks post their confessions. You won't know who you're praying for, but God does. Note, this is not for the weak hearted or easily tempted: some confessions may take you to places you'd rather not go. ChristianNet also has a prayer request page.

Regards,

Rich

I love this site! You can also buy gift certificates for other people who then loan the money to the business of their choice. What a great wedding gift - compared to a crockpot or salad bowl :-)
