I will be trying to make up as many of the meals as possible ahead of time. I use several shortcuts when cooking. If I a great sale on ground beef, I will go ahead & brown the beef and freeze it in small portion, so it is much quicker to prepare ground beef meals. I try to do the same with chicken. I cook up a batch, shred the chicken and freeze for use later.

Monday - Oven Fried Chicken, Sour Cream & Chives Scalloped Potatoes, Green Beans, Biscuits (we skipped the fried chicken last week, so we are going to make it this week)
Vegetarian Menu - to be decided

Tuesday - Chicken Enchiladas, Salad
Vegetarian Menu - Bean Burritos, Salad

Wednesday - Chicken Fettuccine, Steamed Broccoli, Garlic Bread
Vegetarian Menu - Shrimp Fettuccine, Steamed Broccoli, Garlic Bread

Thursday - Hot Wings, Homemade Jalapeno Poppers, Chili Cheese Fries (this is for boys night, as they will be doing some work on the house & want JUNK food)
Vegetarian Menu - Veggie Burgers, french fries, jalapeno poppers

Friday - Lasagna, Garlic Bread, Salad
Vegetarian Menu - Veggie Lasagna, Garlic Bread, Salad

Saturday - Pan Fried Steak, Twice Baked Potatoes, Steamed Veggies, Rolls
Vegetarian Menu - Salmon, Twice Baked Potatoes, Steamed Veggies, Rolls

We will be keeping it VERY budget friendly this week and will be eating from the pantry. My daughter is a vegetarian, so you will often see mixed menus.

Friday - Out to Eat on the Cheap.

Mystery item in Middle Ga: Publix Coffee

Every Sunday Publix prints a coupon in their weekly flyer, found in the Sunday paper. The coupon is good for a "mystery" item that can be purchased for only a penny with your $10 order! The coupon is good for Sunday and Monday. It's easy to accumulate your $10 purchase - just wait until Sunday to purchase your bread, milk and eggs for the week, and this week - Publix has your coffee covered too!

Upromise - College Savings

Every little bit helps! Upromise is a great way to save money for your child's college. You can save several different ways, including shopping online, grocery shopping (and linking your store loyalty cards to your upromise account & using ecoupons), and dining at certain restaurants. You can also invite your family and friends to link their store loyalty cards to your child's Upromise account for even more savings. Steps to savings:

1. Go to the Upromise site here, and sign up for an account. You can add as many children as you like to the account, and even separate your savings to be divided between them equally.

2. If you do any online shopping, download the "TurboSaver" toolbar. The toolbar automatically tells you if there is an opportunity for savings on every website you visit. This is very helpful because you don't have to remember to go through another site for your savings, and the savings are automatically added to your Upromise account. It couldn't be simpler.

3. Gather all of your shopper loyalty cards (Kroger, Ingles, CVS, etc) and link the cards to your Upromise account. Each time you shop & purchase qualifying items (usually Unilever products), a portion is automatically credited to your Upromise account. Linking the cards to your Upromise account does not interfere with any other links that may be present on your cards (such as Ingles Tools for School program or Shortcuts.com coupon programs).

4. Sign up for the Preferred Diner program at Upromise, and register your credit and debit cards with Upromise. Dine at qualifying restaurants for up to 8% savings each time you dine out. Gift certificates for some qualifying restaurants are available at Restaurant.com, and you get 8% savings from buying the certificates too!

5. Apply for the Upromise credit card for even more savings, including a $25 deposit to your Upromise account with your first qualifying purchase. More details here.

There are several choices on how you can use your savings. You can ...

1. Transfer your savings to a qualified 529 Plan. Learn the basics of 529 Plans here.

2. Pay on a current Sallie Mae loan.

3. Download a PDF form & mail it in to request a check for your savings amount. Checks can be requested once per quarter.

I've been a member since 2006 and have accumulated a little $ in my account. Don't expect to pay for your child's entire college tuition with your savings, but every little bit helps. The earlier you start, the more you can earn.

Coupon Terminology - Learn the Lingo

BOGO, B1G1 - stands for Buy One Get One, Buy One Get One Free. Retailers will offer items as BOGO, and there are many manufacturers coupons for BOGO items that can sometimes be used in conjunction with BOGO sales at stores for two free items! (depends on the store's coupon policy)

BLINKIE - Blinkies are the coupons that are located in the grocery aisles in the little coupon "boxes" that sometimes have a red blinking light on them. I always collect a couple each time I go to a store because I never know when the item they are advertising might come on sale.

BTFE - Box Tops For Education - Labels found on General Mills products. These are used by schools to earn products.

CATALINA COUPONS - (you may see these coupons referred to as simply "cats" on many blogs/forums) - These are the coupons that print out when you make purchases at certain stores. In my area, the stores that offer catalina's are:

Ingles, Walgreens, and Kroger. These coupons are triggered by certain items that you buy, and can be for either a certain dollar amount off your next in store purchase, or they can be regular manufacturers coupons for cents/dollars off of certain items. Walgreens calls their catalinas "Register Rewards".

COUPON - any $ or cents off offer - sometimes abbreviated as: Q, C/O, cpns, etc .. you will see many different abbreviations for coupons.

DD - Dear Daughter

DH - Dear Husband

DS - Dear Son

ECB - Extra Care Bucks - CVS store coupons that can be used like cash at CVS. The coupons print at the bottom of your receipt.

FAR - Free After Rebate.

Hang Tag - (sometimes abbreviated HT) - Coupon found hanging on the neck of a bottle, or around the lid of a jar, etc.

HTH - Hope That Helps - abbreviation seen in blog/forum responses when someone is answering a question or providing information

Internet Printable - (IP) - Manufacturers coupons that can be printed from sites on the internet. Most sites only allow two coupons to be printed. However, if you have more than one computer linked to a printer, you can print two coupons per computer.

Instant Value Coupon - (IVC) - Coupons found at Walgreens. They are store coupons and can be used in conjunction with manufacturer's coupons for the same product. They are found in Walgreen's weekly ads, some of the Walgreen's brand children's coloring books, and in special coupon books that can be found at different locations throughout the store.
ISO - In Search Of - this abbreviation appears on forums and tells you the coupons that a particular person are looking for. There are lots of coupon trading sites and most people list the coupons they are "in search of", so if you have those coupons you may be able to work out a trade for a coupon that they have.

NED - No Expiration Date - Coupons that do not expire. There used to be lots of coupons like these, but they are rare today.

OOP - Out of pocket - The amount of cash you actually have to pay for an item.

OYNO - On Your Next Offer - These are catalina coupons that print for a dollar amount off of your next order. In my area, Kroger and Walgreens offer ONYO coupons.

Peelies - coupons that are to be "peeled" off specially marked packages and used towards the products.

RAOK - Random Act of Kindness - abbreviation used on blogs/forum when someone offers something as a gift

RP - Red Plum - The name of one of the weekly coupon inserts. Prior to 2008, they were known as Valassis.

Register Reward - (RR) - Catalina coupons printed at Walgreens. They are triggered by certain items that you purchase and can be used like cash towards Walgreens purchases.

SMP - Specially Marked Packages - Packages of products that have certain offers either written on them, or attached to them.

Smart Source - SS or S - Maker of weekly coupon insert found in most Sunday papers.

Tearpad - a pad of tear off coupons found near products.

Try Me Free - (TMF) - Coupon or tearpad located on/near product that allows you to mail in a form to the manufacturer and they will refund your purchase price for the product.

UPC - Universal Product Code - This is the "barcode" found on most all products. The UPC code is used as a proof of purchase in lots of refund offers.

Wags - abbreviation for Walgreens stores

YMMV: Your Mileage May Vary - This means that your store may have a different policy, and the deal may or may not work for you
