This is the most Rare phenomenon that I have either seen or heard of . On my way from George To Johannesburg in South Africa, it was a clear sky day and just minutes after our take off, I looked out of my window that we were crossing few clouds and as we cruise above them, it was a magnificent view with the craft casting its shadow on the clouds and to add icing to the cake, we had a full ring rainbow circulating the same shadow and following us right till where the clouds could be.It was a perfect combination of sun position, brightness, craft position, clouds height and moisture that could have maybe created it but it is was a magnificent view all in all !!

Well this is one question that many cricket fans would like to know that answer to as tgryvwould be travelling to Australia to witness the ICC cricket world cup 2015.

As per the new ICC ground allocation norms, if the following teams qualify to quarter finals, it is evident that they will play at the following grounds

Houtong Cat Village, Taiwan

Houtong is a small mining town located in Rueifang District of Taiwan, a district renowned for its rich, well-preserved railway culture with the old Yilan Line which was built during the Japanese colonial period for transporting resources out of northern Taiwan. Houtong was a train stop on the Yilan Line and one of Taiwan’s biggest coal-mining sites up until the 1970s. During its most prosperous years, Houtong’s mines produced some 220,000 tons of coal, the largest amount of coal yielded in a single area in Taiwan. This attracted many residents to migrate to Houtong, and the town grew to as many as 900 households and population of more than 6,000.

As the coal mining industry began to fall into decline in 1990, development in Houtong became progressively worse. Young residents started to move out of town to look for other opportunities, and only a few hundred residents remained. The once prosperous mining industry fell into ruins and was lying so for decades.

Things took an unexpected turn sometime around 2008, when a cat lover organized a team of volunteers to give the neighborhood’s abandoned cats a better living environment. They posted the cats’ pictures on the web and received an overwhelming response from other cat lovers. Visitors' raves on local blogs drew more cat lovers to this place who came to photograph the cats or fondle and frolic with them. Soon Houtong became a hotbed for cat lovers and amateur photographers. Today, the dilapidated mining town and the 100-odd felines that roam the streets are drawing thousands of tourists during weekends.

Houtong residents are cashing in on the tourist influx by opening souvenir shops and selling cat-shaped pineapple pastries. Even the footbridge leading from the station’s exit across the tracks to the hillside cat village has recently been beautified and given a distinct “cat-look,” complete with ears at one end and a tail at the other. The bridge now even includes an elevated “catwalk,” allowing the cats to come down from the village and greet visitors who arrive by train.

The cats are looked after by the town’s residents. Chan Bi-yun, a 58-year-old retiree takes a lot of the credit for Houtong's feline-induced rebirth.

"I started raising five cats that belonged to a neighbor who passed away nine years ago and they gave birth to more and more kitties," she said. "Now I feed about half of Houtong's cat population."

Houtong was originally called Hou Dong, that literally translates to “monkey cave”, because there was a cave inhabited by a group of wild monkeys in the area during the early days. Chimborazo: The Farthest Point From the Earth’s Center

Chimborazo is an inactive volcano located in the Andes mountain range in Ecuador with a peak elevation of 6,268.2 meters. What makes Chimborazo so special, apart from being the highest location in Ecuador, is that its peak is the furthest point from the center of the Earth, and not Mount Everest as many would believe to be. This is due to Chimborazo’s location along the equatorial bulge of the planet.

The earth is not a perfect sphere. On account of rotation of the earth, the planet is "thicker" around the Equator than measured around the poles. Chimborazo lies one degree south of the Equator while Mt Everest is nearly nearly 28° north of the equator. Despite Chimborazo being 2,580 meter lower in elevation above sea level compared to Mt Everest (8,848 meter), it is 2.168 km farther from the Earth's center than the summit of Everest.

Chimborazo is not even the highest peak of the Andes. In fact, when ranked by the order of distance from the center of the earth, several other Andean peaks as well as Africa's highest mountain, Kilimanjaro, exceed Mt Everest.

Floating Village of Kompong Phluk And Reversing Mekong River of Cambodia

Kampong Phluk is a cluster of three villages of stilted houses built within the floodplain of the Tonle Sap lake, about 16 km southeast of Siem Reap, Cambodia. Flooded mangrove forest surrounds the area and is home to a variety of wildlife including crab-eating macaques, and 3000 human inhabitants.

The houses of Kompong Phluk are built on top of wooden poles and stilts between six and eight meters high and tower over the boats moored along the river, which snakes through the village before heading out into the Tonle Sap lake. During the dry season when the lake is low, the buildings in the villages seem to soar atop their 6-meter stilts exposed by the lack of water. At this time of year many of the villagers move out onto the lake and build temporary houses. In the wet season when water level rises, the villagers move back to their permanent houses on the floodplain, the stilts now hidden under the water.

Tonle Sap Lake, upon which the village of Kampong Phluk floats, exhibits a unique hydrologic phenomenon during the wet season - the river reverses direction, filling the lake instead of draining it. The engine of this phenomenon is the Mekong River, which becomes bloated with snow melt and runoff from the monsoon rains in the wet season. The swollen Mekong backs up into the Tonle Sap River expanding the surface area of lake more than five-fold, inundating the surrounding forested floodplain and supporting an extraordinarily rich and diverse eco-system.

In the wet season, the Tonle Sap Lake is one of the largest freshwater lakes in Asia, swelling to an expansive 12,000 square km. More than 100 varieties of waterbirds including several threatened and endangered species, over 200 species of fish, as well as crocodiles, turtles, macaques, otter and other wildlife inhabit the inundated mangrove forests. The Lake is also an important commercial resource, providing more than half of the fish consumed in Cambodia.

During the dry half of the year the Lake shrinks to as small as 2500 square km, draining into the Tonle Sap River, which meanders southeast, eventually merging with the Mekong River.

Gruner See, Styria: A Park That Turns Into a Lake in Summer

Grüner See, literally “Green Lake”, is a lake in Styria, Austria, near the town of Tragoss, located at the foot of the snow-capped Hochschwab mountains. During winter, the lake is only 1–2 meter deep and the surrounding area is used as a county park. It is a particular favourite site for hikers. But as the temperature starts rising in spring, the ice and snow on the mountaintops begins to melt and runs down into the basin of land below. The lake swells up to engulf the entire area including the park. During summer, the lake reaches its maximum depth of around 12 meter and is claimed to look the most beautiful at this time.

The lake gets its distinctive green colouring, and the name, from the grass and foliage beneath, and thanks to the fresh snow melt, the ice-cold water is crystal clear clear. The temperature of the lake is rather cold at 4 to 8 °C, yet it’s popular among divers who can observe the green meadows in the edge zone of the lake particularly in June when the water is at its highest. The alpine grasses and flowers of the meadow are visible in full bloom under the water. One can even see benches, a bridge and walking trails.

Starting July, the lake starts to recede and by winter, the lake is back to its original size and the park is returned once more to the hikers.

Incredible Red Beach in Panjin, China

Sand is probably the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about beach. However, this is not the case with the Panjin Red Beach in China, which is, actually, red, and not covered in sand at all. Such phenomena is caused by a type of sea weed Sueda. It starts growing during April and May, then stays green during the summer, but starts turning vividly red in autumn.

The Red Beach is located in the biggest wetland and reed marsh in the world, and actually hosts the most completed ecosystem that can be found: the area has become home to more than 260 kinds of birds and 399 kinds of wild animals. You can find the endangered Crown Cranes and Black Beaked Gulls there, which is why the area is even called “home of the cranes”.

In order to keep the whole ecosystem safe, the area was granted state-level protection back in 1988. Even though most of the Red Beach is closed to the public, there still is a small section that’s open for tourists. We can assure you that the photos below are not an example of infrared photography, it’s just one of those places that are hard to believe really exist!

UTTARAKHAND "THE HOLY STATE OF HINDU MYTHOLOGY"

0n 16th june 2013 the cloud burst at KEDARNATH and surrounding hills of
BADRINATH brought in "Worlds biggest disaster on divotees".
The death toll which can be any number as per govt, but actual figures is even
bigger than 25000. The localites,temporary vendors, khchharwalas,pujaries,
guides, pittuwalas are also amongst dead. the main stream of havoc came from the
rear side of Kedarnath temple and swept every thing during night when most of
the people were sleeping.
The morter which we are seeing after the disaster is not the actual level which
caused this damage but the fact is approx 5 to 6 feet of water level above this
morter has swept the people and every thing and morter buried the sleeping
people.
Generally we see Khachhars as the strong animal on these hilly area but not a
single animal was visible during rescue indicating that they are also washed
away, otherwise to remove people from remote places would have been easier.
The whole Kedarnath temple city was like an historical place buried and no sign
of habitation atall.
Nobody had ever expected such type of disaster to happen and everybody was as
casual as one can be, BUT HAT'S OFF to our RESCUE TEAM consisting of
MILITRY,ITBP,IAF,NDRF,JAWANS.ARMY.PILOTS,and some POLICE who took the charge and
whatever survived as we see are due to their EFFORTS,INTELLIGENCE,PAINS,COURAGE
and WILL to do for humanity. The worst came from administration,task forces and
disaster management by state. Theire irrisponsible attitude has brought in this
loss of life Though we understand they could not have avoided this disaster to
take place but could have protected/saved thousands of life by restricting their
entries into this zone or atleast alerting them through radio, television and by
massages on mobile telephones.
We understand to reach out for help was not at all easy. To take the decision
you need to know the gravity of the disaster which was beyond everybody's
imagination. As the weather condition and place to land the HELICOPTER was not
known, the fuel for choppers was not in mobilising state, still the pilots did
their best against all odds.
We could not see any of rescue team heads on televisions explaining what they
did or doing, they were simply using that valuable time for rescue.The whole
country and specially those rescued should "SALUTE" This rescue team who worked
beyond all boundries of law for humanity.
I am shocked and surprised when viewed television news ,everybody shouting at
Government and Prashsan without appreciating RESCUE TEAM which brought them back
from the jaws of DEATH.The RESCUE TEAM has taken pains in evacuating people from
hotels, dharamshalas hoses situated near bank of river AT 2.30 AM and moving
them to safer places risking their own lives.later most of these buildings are
swept by gushing water.
NOW THE BIGGEST QUESTION IS
1)Is anybody responsible for this loss of human lives?\ and susequently huge
expenses on rescue operations? We are considering the calamity was unavoidable
and no one could have averted this to happen.
2)Our country heads like PRESIDENT,PM,HOME MINISTER, CM, AND HEADS OF SPECIAL
FORCES from state have any guts to come forward and take direct or indirect
responsibility ?. we expect them to come whole heartedly in public to take care
of the situation or are they just god enough to take aireal survey and spent
another hefty sum in surveys.
3)Why the Government spending thousands of crores of Rupees on "THE INDIAN
METROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT" which could not read and forecast the probable cloud
burst.the dept. is just good enough to announce arrival of mansoon.
4) There are and can be thousands of questions on this isuue but utmost
imprtance is whether WE ARE UNITED AND FOCUSSED TO RESOLVE SUCH CRISIS?

OUR VIEW ON THE DISASTER IS.
1) The metrological dept was the only department which did not work at all and
this only has converted the disaster into killing of thousands of humans,animals
and loss of movable assets,vehicles. the loss to buildings roads bridges farms
infrastructure was unavoidable.
2) Our citizens (BARRING FEW) are guninely not responsible and do not
understand what not to do what to do.
3)our RESCUE TEAM is the best WHICH perfomed best at NON-BATTLEFIELD also.

TO CONCLUDE

Such disaster do exist,we can not stop them but our efforts can definitely reduce the loss of life.

I salute the RESCUE TEAM who worked even though knowing the risk to their life,which

to some extent we know from the crashed helicopterI wish all those who could not survive

and lost their lives inthis disaster "TO GO TO HEAVEN AND GET ALL THE BEST IN THEIR HEAVENLY ADOBE"
