From fashion take what suits you best. I've always been conscious that nobody's perfect and we all have our defects, both intern and extern, we work a lot to show the good stuff about ourselves and balance the scale to our favor. Why am I telling you this? because most surely you're kind of tired of the cropped top (and not only from my blog, but from all fashion media) but the truth is, I've never been a fan of my legs, I know they're not the best part of me and I always look to dissimulate my defects, that's why the cropped top trend it's perfect for me, it's flattering and benefits the shape of my body.

De la moda lo que te acomoda. On the opposite of black, white is the outfit's protagonist, this color it's one of the favorites for summer; super fresh, neutral, youthful and formal, it can be shaped to proper taste and goes excellent with anything, for example, every time I travel I add at least a couple of white t-shirts to my suitcase and I'll definitely not travel without this cropped top that has became my favorite (if I could frame it, I would!) even if it's not as basic, more like unique.

No sewing skills needed and almost no sewing is involved in this tutorial, this clutch style is so in trend right now, you can wear it for a night out or to the beach, it's super easy to make and you won't spend more than $5 bucks on materials.

No necesitas habilidades de costura y casi no se cose en este tutorial, este clutch está muy de moda, puedes usarlo para salir de noche o para la playa, es súper fácil y no te costarán más de $60 pesos los materiales.

You need:

A yard of PVC clear plastic, here in Mexico we find it on fabric shops, look for the thicker one you can find; a standard sized magazine, scissors, pen, ruler, sew snap button, golden (or silver, as you prefer) fasteners, a button or something to decor, clear thread and needle.

- Medio metro de acrílico flexible, de esos que se ponen en las mesas o para forrar libros, busca el más grueso que tengan en la mercería; una revista tamaño estándar, tijeras, regla, bolígrafo o algo para marcar, broches mariposa, broche de costura, un botón o dije, hilo transparente (de preferencia) y aguja.

First of all, you can use this image for the clutch's measurements, it would be just like mine, it will fit a standard sized magazine but you can adjust it to the size you prefer.

Primero que nada, puedes usar esta imagen que tiene las medidas del patrón para hacer el clutch igual que el mío, está basado en las medidas de una revista tamaño estándar pero tú puedes hacerlo del tamaño que quieras.

Use the ruler and the pen to draw and cut the pattern.

Ayúdate del bolígrafo y la regla para marcar y recortar el patrón.

Once you cut it, it should look like this, place the magazine at the center so it works like a guide.

Una vez que lo tengas recortado debe quedar así, coloca la revista en el centro para que te sirva de guía.

Fold in the small lapels towards the magazine, then the bottom one; the superior lapel is the one that will open and close the clutch, so you don't need to place it yet. Mark with the pen where you want the golden fastener to be, don't make it too close to the hem because it could torn the plastic after a few uses. Help yourself with something pointy and sharp to make a hole.

Arma el clutch de forma que abrace la revista, primero van las pestañas más pequeñas y por encima la inferior; la superior será la tapa así que no necesitas ponerla todavía. Marca con el bolígrafo el punto donde quieres colocar los broches mariposa, te aconsejo que no sea muy cerca de la orilla porque podría desgarrar el plástico, después de marcarlo ayúdate con algo filoso para atravesarlo.

Then you can insert the golden fasteners.

Fold the fastener's wings again so they're not too long and to avoid the pointy ends.

Now you need to place the sew snap button to open and close the clutch at the superior lapel. Look for the center and make a mark with the pen.

Ahora hay que poner el broche para abrir y cerrar el clutch en la solapa superior. Busca el centro y marca donde quieras que vaya el broche.

I recommend you to use clear thread but I couldn't find mine, so I used a grey one.

Sew the snap buttons so they can close and open the clutch (if you find bigger buttons it works better). The negative side of this method is that you can see the stitching when the clutch is closed.

Cose los broches de manera que el clutch pueda abrir y cerrarse (si encuentras broches más grandes mejor aún). Lo malo de esto es que podrás ver las costuras cuando el clutch esté cerrado.

A solution for that is to sew or glue a button or a small decoration, whatever you have on hand. It could be plain like mine, but you can add something to spice it up and show your personality.

Para solucionarlo cose o pega un botón o dije, lo que tengas a la mano. Puede ser liso y sin diseño como el que yo puse, pero puedes agregar practicamente lo que quieras, aquí es donde puedes agregarle tu personalidad.

And it's done, the trendy and versatile clutch would be ready in aproximately half an hour. I recommend you to place it under big heavy books with the magazine inside for a whole day to get rid of wrinkles.

I wasn't really sure about this clutches because nobody likes to show their personal stuff, but in case you're worried about showing your private possesions (id, money and personal objects) you can place them inside of a small cosmetic bag and only show the pretty stuff, like your sunglasses, a small book or your favorite lipstick.

Y ya está, el clutch versatil y muy en tendencia estará listo en aproximadamente media hora, fué lo que yo tardé. Te recomiendo que lo pongas todo un día debajo de libros pesados con la revista dentro, para deshacerte de cualquier arruga y que el plástico tome forma.

Yo no estaba muy segura de estos bolsos porque a nadie le gusta enseñar las cosas que lleva, en todo caso si te preocupa que se vean tus pertenencias privadas (identificaciones, dinero y objetos personales) puedes ponerlas dentro de una cosmetiquera y sólo mostrar las cosas que resulten bonitas a la vista, como unos lentes para el sol, un pequeño libro o tu labial favorito.

We always think of everything for summer but black, the shade which 'attracts the heat' and it's not considered optimum for high temperatures, I think on the contrary and how to keep wearing it, so I wore two of my favorite trends: the crop top with a long pencil skirt to balance the look, still quite revealing so if you try it be prepared for people staring at you, it's totally worth it though.

There are trends I don't care about and didn't win a space in my wardrobe, but I fell for many others and the pieces started to pile up over hangers, such as the floral print. I won't lie to you if I tell you that I wore this skirt four times on the past week (which was pretty busy for me, that's why I couldn't update the blog, sorry!) and just because it's super fresh and flattering, I don't want to wear anything else.

Hay tendencias que no he tocado y que no se ganaron un espacio en mi armario, pero hay otras que arrasaron y se amontonaron gancho sobre gancho, como el estampado floral. A year ago when I saw that this summer's trends would include leather and more leather I felt a little bit scared because I used to live in a city where we could reach 50 degrees celsius on some days. Lucky me, I moved to a really comfortable weather where maybe I can't wear leather all over, but it's definitely easier to add it to my outfits, like this pair of shorts with a loose and comfortable fit which allows the skin to breathe, the key to wear leather in summer is to avoid contact with your skin (and if the garment has a cotton lining, then much better!).

Hace un año cuando vi que las tendencias para este verano serían piel y más piel me horroricé un poco, y es que vivía en una ciudad donde se llega a mas de 50 grados centígrados algunos días de verano. Por suerte, me he mudado a un clima más acogedor donde tal vez no pueda cubrirme totalmente de piel, pero definitivamente es fácil añadirlo a mis atuendos, como con este par de shorts con un corte suelto y cómodo que permite a la piel respirar, la clave de usar piel en verano es que no se pegue totalmente al cuerpo (y si la prenda tiene forro de algodón, ¡mucho mejor!).

Not everything in my trip was glamour, pretty desserts and meetings, I also walked a lot through the city and went to Six Flags for the first time (it's hard to believe but I've never been there!). Even if it was my first time I knew exactly what I was going to go through: long waiting lines to ride the attractions, a combination of cold/heat with many chances of ending up all wet because of certain games and a long day with my feet to end up like dust at night. I could have worn something common like skinny jeans and a t-shirt, but I decided I would go further.

Finally I went with this coordinate, it's a combination of very, very basic pieces with a militar blazer I could tie on my waist and wear it when the day started to get colder, I also wore the clutch as a crossbody so I didn't lose any of my belongings. At the last minute I added a leather cap and I was ready! good-bye to the boring without sacrificing comfort.

No todo en mi viaje fue glamour, postres y reuniones, también caminé muchísimo para conocer la ciudad y fui a Six Flags por primera vez (aunque no lo crean, ¡nunca había ido!). A pesar de que era mi primera vez sabía perfectamente qué me esperaba: filas largas para subir a las atracciones, combinación de calor/frío con muchas posibilidades de terminar empapada de agua en algunos juegos y un día largo con mis pies destinados a terminar destrozados en la noche. Bien pude haber vestido con unos skinny jeans y una camiseta, pero decidí que no caería en lo común y busqué la forma de hacerlo lucir mejor.

Finalmente fui con este atuendo, que es una combinación de piezas muy, muy básicas con un blazer militar que llevé amarrado en la cintura y me la puse cuando comenzó a sentirse el frío, el clutch lo usé cruzado para no perder nada de mis pertenencias. En el último momento agregué una gorra de piel y ¡listo! adiós a lo aburrido sin sacrificar la comodidad.

This is the outfit I wore to the meeting with Tous in Mexico City, I liked it so much and received great comments on my Instagram account that I decided to wear it again so we could take photos and show it to you. Do you like it?

I have a love-hate relationship with this skirt. I bought it on Zara at their sales, it was the last one and in my size, love at first sight and hate it the first time I wore it, the embroidered pearls and rhinestones started to fell off! I was leaving a path of little pearls as I walked, it's the first big dissapointment I have with a piece from Zara, the only positive thing is that I didn't pay full price for it. I'll strengthen the seams of the embroidery, it won't be the same but at least I'll be able to use it. And I just look at it in the photos and it seems so gorgeous, but leaving pearls on chairs and everywhere I walk isn't very chic at all, I'm pretty sure we all have a story like this.

Este es el atuendo que usé para el convivio con Tous en la Ciudad de México, me gustó tanto y recibí muy buenos comentarios en mi cuenta de Instagram que lo volví a usar exactamente de la misma forma sólo para poder tomarle fotos y mostrárselos. ¿Les gusta?

Esta falda y yo tenemos una relación amor-odio. La encontré en las rebajas de Zara, era la última y en mi talla, fue amor a primera vista y odio en la primera usada ¡se le descosen las perlas y todos los bordados que tiene! el día que la usé estaba dejando perlas y piedritas por donde quiera que pasaba, es la primera gran decepción que me llevo con una prenda de Zara, lo único positivo fue que no pagué precio completo por ella y lo que haré será reforzar las costuras de los bordados, no será igual pero al menos no será una total perdida. Y es que la veo en las fotos y pienso lo hermosa que es, pero ir dejando perlitas en las sillas y por donde voy caminando no es muy chic que digamos, definitivamente todas seguro tenemos una historia de este tipo.

Everything was pink, extremely girly and summery, refreshing along with drinks and wine.

The most incredible thing about this night was that Marta Tous herself explained the collection with detail. Simple yet elegant pieces, inspired by the natural and organic forms in soft colors, my favorite was a necklace/hairband, so amazingly versatile! I had a video but the sound quality came out really bad :(

Lo más increíble de toda la noche fue que Marta Tous nos explicó de forma detallada la nueva colección. Piezas sencillas pero elegantes, evocando a las formas naturales y orgánicas con piedras en colores suaves, mi favorito fue un collar/diadema, ¡increíblemente versatil! I don't feel very creative today to write, so I'll leave you with this outfit that combines two of my favorite things: the sport look with chic elements. I brought this cropped top to Mexico City but I will definitely not wear it for two reasons: first, because it's raining a lot and second because people here is not used to this kind of fashion and they stare a lot making inappropriate comments, so it's better kept in my suitcase.

What do you like about this outfit? I think it would be perfect for a night out with a boyfriend blazer.

Hoy no siento mucha imaginación para escribir, así que les dejaré con este atuendo que combina dos de mis cosas favoritas: el look deportivo con el chic. Este cropped top me lo traje al D.F. pero creo que definitivamente no lo usaré por dos razones, en primer lugar porque hace mucho frío y está lloviendo todos los días, y en segundo lugar porque la gente aquí no está acostumbrada a este tipo de moda para nada y se quedan viendo mucho, incluso haciendo comentarios inapropiados, así que mejor se guarda sin usar.

¿Qué les gusta más de este atuendo? creo que con un blazer boyfriend queda muy bien para salir de noche.

As I write this I'm on my first morning in Mexico City sitting at San Martin park at La Condesa, saying good-bye to my diet for a few days with a chocolate filling cookie on my hand.

Tijuana is usually not very hot but the day we took this photos it was incredible hot, or maybe it was my hormones but it was one of those days you only want to wear the comfiest pair of shorts you have -maybe from a pijama set- and a tank top, which I refuse to wear unless I had to paint my house or stay all day at home. My solution was to wear very light and fresh pieces and add a vest so it didn't look boring, the final touch was this glorious and beautiful necklace I found on a local shop for pretty cheap.

By the way, this pair of sandals are the only ones that I brought with me to my trip along with a black pair, would I survive a whole week with two pairs of sandals?

Mientras escribo esto me encuentro disfrutando de mi primera mañana en la Ciudad de México en el parque San Martin en La Condesa, diciéndole adiós a mi dieta por algunos días con una galleta rellena de chocolate en mis manos.

En Tijuana casi no hace calor pero el día que tomamos estas fotos fue totalmente diferente, o tal vez son mis hormonas las que estaban movidas, pero era uno de esos días en donde quieres estar en el short más cómodo que tienes -tal vez de un set de pijama- y un tank top muy ligero, cosa a lo cual me rehúso a menos que tuviese la necesidad de pintar mi casa o no salir para nada. Mi solución fue tener piezas muy ligeras y frescas y agregar un chaleco para que no se viese tan simple, el toque final fue este hermoso y glorioso collar que encontré en una tienda local a un súper precio.

Por cierto, estas sandalias fueron las únicas que me traje a mi viaje junto con unas negras, ¿sobreviviré toda la semana con dos pares de tacones?

Positively or negatively I plan almost everything in my life, so I'm pretty familiar with the frustrating sensation when things don't go as you planned, which is almost the rule, like this weekend when I tried to post new outfits and for many reasons I couldn't.

To plan and organize your outfits is something I highly recommend because it has saved me from days when I have to pick a great outfit in less than 5 minutes, but occasionally try new combinations or wear pieces you had forgotten about, that happened with this super casual outfit.

If things still don't go the way you like or planned, from something as simple as a bad outfit or an awful day at work, cheer up! tomorrow you'll have a new chance to do it better, positive above all :)

De forma positiva o negativa planeo casi todo en mi vida, así que conozco perfectamente la sensación frustrante de cuando las cosas no salen como uno quiere, que en su mayoría suele ser así, como este fin de semana que tenía planeado mostrarles algunos atuendos y por una u otra razón me fue imposible.

Planear y organizar tus atuendos es algo que recomiendo porque a mí me ha salvado de días en donde tengo 5 minutos para decidir qué ponerme y lucir muy bien, pero de vez en cuando saquen cosas que tienen rato que no usaban, o que piensan que no van juntas, eso me pasó con este atuendo súper casual.

Ahora que si las cosas no salen como les gustaría y es algo tan sencillo como un atuendo mal coordinado o un día pésimo en el trabajo, ¡ánimo! mañana es otro día para hacer las cosas mejor, positivas ante todo :)

Mixing different denim shades for a casual and chic is not difficult. Sometimes when you pair two or more pieces of denim it can look like you’re trying too hard, so I coordinate it with my Gap polka dot boyfriend shirt, I think it balances the look and this is a shirt we all have in our closet and if not, they're available all year long at any departament store.

Because I'm mexican I don't celebrate the 4th of July but I live on the border so I know how big is the celebration (and we can see the fireworks a little!) so for my lovely readers who are in the USA would you wear something like this for a fun 4th July? I hope you like it!

Mezclar tonos diferentes de mezclilla para un atuendo casual y chic no es difícil. A veces cuando conjuntamos dos piezas o más de mezclilla parece que no resulta del todo, pero coordinándolo con una pieza súper básica como mi camisa boyfriend polka-dot de Gap creo que el look es balanceado, además es una camisa que todos tenemos en nuestro armario y si no, son muy fáciles de encontrar todo el año en cualquier tienda departamental.

Como soy mexicana no celebro el 4 de julio, pero como vivo en la frontera soy muy consciente de la magnitud de la celebración (¡y algunas veces se alcanzan a ver los fuegos artificiales!), así que para mis queridos lectores que se encuentran en Estados Unidos ¿usarían algo así para un 4 de julio divertido? ¡Espero que les guste!

Without any doubt one of my favorite combinations is black and white, the possibilities are endless and it always looks good, but there are simple black and white outfits like skinny pants and a button down shirt, and there are black and white outfits with texture and unique cuts like this outfit I wore yesterday to go out with my boyfriend (and girls, he loved it!)

The trendiest top of the season is absolutely the cropped, crop, belly shirt, half shirt, cutoff top, tummy top or any name you want to use. I'll definitely marry to this trend because it's very flattering if you have a more or less flat stomach, you don't even need to be thin to make it look great, the key is to cover your belly so you don't give that sensation of showing too much skin.

I'd seriously frame this cropped top, it's truly a gorgeous piece I'm so happy I got, it's sold out in stores but I invite you to try on many crop trops for this season, because next year they'll be on trend too.

Sin duda alguna una de mis combinaciones favoritas es el blanco y negro, las posibilidades son infinitas y siempre luce bien, ahora que hay blanco y negro tan simple como unos skinny y una camisa de botones, a un blanco y negro con textura y cortes únicos como el atuendo que usé ayer para salir con mi novio (y chicas, ¡le encantó!)

El top de la temporada es definitivamente el corto, cropped, cortado o enseña-ombligo, como gusten llamarle. Definitivamente me caso con esta tendencia porque favorece mucho si tienen un abdomen más o menos plano, ni siquiera necesitan ser delgadas para que luzca genial, lo importante es cubrir hasta el ombligo para no dar esa sensación de estar enseñando de más.

Este cropped top dan ganas de enmarcarlo, realmente es una pieza que estoy contentísima de haber obtenido, ya no se encuentra en las tiendas pero las invito a que se animen a probarse muchos crop tops para esta temporada, y es que el siguiente año también se estarán usando.

What I got: ZARA cropped studio top (already sold out, sorry!), paper bag clutch, strappy heeled sandals, ASOS cutwork faux leather pencil skirt, TOPSHOP organza a-line skirt and zipper cropped sport top.

You might think that a blogger's life is all perfection, full of glamour and beauty, but just like everybody we have bad streaks, I'm having one and luckily summer sales came just in time to cheer me up a little bit, and of course, money doesn't bring happiness but it helps a lot to feel phisically confident and pretty (like that quote from tumblr, "stressed, depressed but well dressed")

I usually like to wait until the last minute to shop on sales but there were items I had my eye on and was worried they would sell out soon. As you can see I limited myself to basic pieces so I can wear them for years, but everything with some special touch.

So if you're having a good or bad streak take a look at your favorite online shops, they are most probably having a huge sale too. ASOS has 70% off with free shipping, and TOPSHOP has around 60% off with an extra 30% off until July 10th. Now that's a steal.

Posiblemente piensan que la vida de las bloggers es en su mayoría perfecta, llena de glamour y belleza, pero al igual que todos tenemos malas rachas, yo estoy en una y por suerte llegó la temporada de rebajas para alegrarme un poquito, y es que el dinero no trae la felicidad pero ayuda mucho a sentirte bien físicamente (es como dice aquella cita tipo tumblr, "estresada, deprimida pero bien vestida")

Usualmente me gusta esperarme hasta el último momento de las rebajas pero había cosas que ya tenía en la mira y decidí no arriesgarme a que se agotaran. Como pueden ver me limite a comprar piezas básicas que puedo usar por años, pero todo con un toque especial.

Asi que si están teniendo una racha mala o buena, yo les sugiero que se den una vuelta por sus tiendas online favoritas y se den un gustito que es bien merecido, ASOS tiene rebajas de hasta 70% con envíos gratis y TOPSHOP tiene rebajas de 60% con un 30% extra hasta el 10 de julio. Es una súper ganga.

I've always used Bloglovin' because I find it very comfortable but if you follow your favorite blogs on Google Reader, I recommend you to use Bloglovin' because you can import your blog list without losing any information, it's really easy. Too literal, maybe? Nothing beats a typography tee for summer and what's not to like about them: they're comfortable, look great with pants, skirts, shorts and leggings, they're cheap (depending on where you buy them of course) and seasonless because you can wear them by themselves on summer or adding a layer on spring and autumn with a cool jacket.

This look is awesome for those days you want to dress really good but as comfortable as possible, I can imagine this outfit in so many occasions. To work, check; to go to the movies, check; to the beach with proper sandals, check; to a night out with my leather jacket, check; to go shopping, check... and so on. Convinced you already?

Btw, I look very serious in this set of photos, I wasn't angry or anything, I just had a really long day!

Muy literal, tal vez. Nada le gana a una camiseta con tipografía para el verano y es que qué no nos podría gustar de ellas; son cómodas, lucen bien con pantalones, faldas, shorts y leggings, son económicas (bueno, dependiendo de dónde la compres) y son atemporales porque las puedes llevar por sí solas en verano o con una chaqueta en primavera y otoño.

Este look es genial para esos días en que quieres vestir súper bien pero no ir incómoda, además de ser en blanco y negro, me lo puedo imaginar en muchísimas ocasiones. Para trabajar, check; para salir al cine, check; para ir a la playa cambiando las sandalias por otras apropiadas, check; para salir de noche con mi chaqueta de cuero, check; para ir de compras, check.... y podría seguir con una lista muy larga. ¿Ya las convencí?

Por cierto, en estas fotos salgo muy seria, no estaba enojada ¡sólo había tenido un largo día!

¡Ya es verano! me gusta regresar a los básicos de mi armario para un atuendo estilizado y chic, encuentro que piezas simples funcionan mejor para el verano porque puedes combinarlas fácilmente para un conjunto que parece que no te costó trabajo, así que para este atuendo usé mi camisa de lino de Gap y la amarré en la parte más pequeña de mi cintura para un look muy femenino pero relajado.
