Vicenza, Italy's Jazz Not Dead Festival will take over Tuesday nights at Bar Sartea for ten consecutive weeks for the sixth edition of the festival starting late next month.

This year's "Raw House" theme once again features a line-up of home-grown and internationally-known jocks who love house and techno. Beginning in January, Jazz Not Dead welcomes festival favorite and legendary Italian DJ Daniele Baldelli, a man who began playing records before the word "DJ" existed, back to the festival. Also returning to JND are Panorama Bar residents Tama Sumo and Prosumer, a few among the cadre to represent Berlin, along with Quarion and RA podcaster and Laid label manager Dor.

A healthy dose of Italian talent is included on the line-up as well, including Bar Sartea resident and festival organizer Dax DJ, Batongo, Marcello Napoletano and Ralf. JND veteran and disco producer and DJ Daniel Wang closes the festival, but not before Scott Ferguson and Novel Sound imprint owner and the Deconstruct Music label boss Levon Vincent play on their respective Tuesdays.

Each party will only go until 2 AM, but as in years past, Dax has decided to help Italian clubbers make their decision pretty easy by making each event free of charge.

Ritorna l'appuntamento che negli ultimi due anni ha regalato ai giovani della zona un sano divertimento fatto di musica, arte e tanta voglia di condividere spazi e tempi tutti insieme.
Nato nel luglio del 2008 tra le mura di un ex distretto militare inutilizzato Wake Up! è cresciuto nel tempo, raccogliendo consensi sempre maggiori. Dopo aver riempito meravigliosamente la Piazza del Popolo di Sacile ed essersi trasferito quest'estate nella piccola ma suggestiva Piazzetta Romagnoli, ora sarà ospite di un grazioso bar del centro storico della cittadina friulana (Antica Sacile). Una fusione perfettamente funzionate quella tra il progetto di Wake Up! e Sacile, che fino ad oggi lo ha ospitato. Connubio eccezionale che si rinnova per la stagione invernale e scalda le vostre serate con atmosfere musicali eccellenti. Protette dal piacevole ambiente in cui approdano in questa loro veste natalizia, le note di Wake Up! si libereranno nell'aria per accompagnarvi fino alla Vigilia e portare un tocco di freschezza e novità all'usuale clima dicembrino. In 2 anni di attività, AltaVoz è riuscita a diventare un evento di musica e cultura elettronica tra i più importanti in Italia. Una volta al mese, nelle sale del Rivolta, AltaVoz propone dj's di fama internazionale, artisti emergenti della scena regionale ed italiana, live sperimentali, artisti visivi, workshop e laboratori. Tutto questo è possibile grazie all'impegno che AltaVoz ed il Rivolta hanno messo sin dall'inizio per realizzare un evento che è un'importante produzione indipendente ed un'occasione di divertimento e socialità per molti.
Soprattutto, AltaVoz è un evento unico nel suo genere perchè dentro gli spazi del Rivolta ognuno può esprimersi in piena libertà. La libertà per noi è tutto.

Eppure abbiamo sotto gli occhi qualcosa che ci colpisce e ci interroga. Questa libertà, che costa tanto lavoro e fatica, a volte viene confusa con l'abbandono. Succede così che molte persone si perdano in un uso di droghe e alcol che ha poco a che fare con lo stare bene insieme e tanto meno con il divertimento; succede che diverse persone non siano in grado di gestire questa loro libertà, stiano male ed abbiano bisogno di assistenza medica.

Le droghe e l'alcol fanno parte da sempre di tutte le società e non vogliamo fare la morale a nessuno, ma quello che abbiamo di fronte è qualcosa di nuovo che ci deve far pensare tutti. Quando questa libertà si trasforma in eccesso inutile e rischioso, quando anche gli amici abbandonano chi sta male, vuol dire che è il momento di fermarsi e riflettere.
Questa riflessione tocca tutti noi. Perché tutti noi, che si faccia o meno uso di sostanze, viviamo in questa società che produce il malessere che abbiamo visto sabato sera e che vediamo in molti luoghi ed eventi, che da momenti di socialità si trasformano in occasioni di sfogo, autodistruzione ed abbandono di sé stessi.

Questi fenomeni non riguardano ovviamente soltanto AltaVoz. E neanche solo gli eventi di musica elettronica, ma attraversano tutta la cultura giovanile e tutta la nostra società. Succede ogni settimana in eventi e locali e ogni giorno nelle piazze delle nostre città.
Noi però non vogliamo essere come altri e fare finta che il problema non esista. E' un problema di tutti noi e siamo quindi tutti chiamati ad interrogarci e a cercare delle risposte. AltaVoz ha a cuore il bene comune e per questo diciamo cose che altri non dicono.

Le droghe (compreso l'alcol, che seppur legale è comunque una droga tra le più pericolose) sono dentro il nostro mondo e non fuori. Per questo abbiamo sempre un'ambulanza ed un medico durante i nostri eventi e per questo da tempo lavoriamo con un progetto che fa informazione sulle droghe e allestisce una sala chill out dove poter avere un sostegno, tutte le informazioni necessarie sulle sostanze, i loro effetti ed i loro pericoli e rilassarsi nei momenti di difficoltà.
Abbiamo fatto e continueremo a fare tutto ciò che è possibile per continuare a garantire a tutti questa libertà per noi così importante, senza criminalizzazioni e senza falsi moralismi. Ma adesso il problema è un altro.
Quello che abbiamo visto all'ultimo AltaVoz non ci è piaciuto perché dentro l'uso delle droghe leggiamo inconsapevolezza, abbandono e malessere personale e sociale. Noi invece siamo per la libertà (che è per prima cosa consapevolezza) e per il bene comune. L'indipendenza ci sembra la scelta, anche nel rapporto di ciascuno con le droghe. La persona davvero libera non si abbandona, non si lascia dominare e non vive succube delle sostanze.

Questa riflessione ci porta a dire che il 24 ottobre, data nel quale si sarebbe dovuto tenere il nostro prossimo evento, non sarà il solito AltaVoz. Sarà invece una giornata che dedicheremo a questi temi costruendo una serie di incontri, laboratori e dibattiti per parlare tutti insieme, con la collaborazione di esperti ed operatori, di questi problemi che non sono espressione di libertà, ma al contrario sono la prova della sua mancanza.

Il 24 ottobre noi ci fermeremo a riflettere su questi problemi. E vorremmo che voi vi fermaste insieme a noi.

Dj and producer from Vicenza, he is a devoted collector of vinyls and a music journalist. His style can be described as “Space funk 3000”, a mixture of sounds ranging from electonic to house, from boogie to funk, through deep, detroit and minimal. He created and still direct the on-line magazine www.family-house.net, most appreciated by all underground music lovers. He played with many world famous djs and took part to several highly prestigious parties and festivals.
