Clark Gregg attempts to answer the question about Coulson’s survival after events of The Avengers.

Marvel fans were a little skeptical when Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was announced as a television series, especially after it was confirmed that Clark Gregg would be returning to S.H.I.E.L.D. as Agent Coulson. However, Agent Coulson did not survive the events of The Avengers, so how in the heck is he back?

Gregg himself attempted to answer the question recently in an interview with Zap2It. “”He’s an android. I’m lying, I’m lying! He’s the Vision. He’s a Life Model Decoy,” Gregg jokes, referencing some of the fan-created theories for his continued existence. But then he turned serious, “No he’s not. I don’t know if he is. I don’t know 100 percent the answer to this so I can’t even spoil it, but this was a big concern of mine because I’m an ‘Avengers‘ fan. I’ve been reading the comics. I love that whole world, and I loved what Joss did with Agent Coulson.”

Gregg also added that he was torn about taking on the role again because of the mystery behind his apparent survival. “When they called and said, you know, ‘We want to bring this guy back for ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,’ I was honestly torn, a little wary. When Joss kind of explained what we start to find out in the pilot, and a mystery still remains that I think will kind of carry through, I was instantly in.”

Obviously, Whedon has a plan and he’ll show it to us when he’s ready. My initial thought was that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. takes place before events in The Avengers, but I believe that’s already been debunked. But I’d like to hear your theories on how Coulson survives. Let me know in the comments.

Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For gets another blow and is delayed until 2014.

Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For was one of those films I have been searching high and low for news of. With a cast that includes Dennis Haysbert (taking over for Michael Clarke Duncan), Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Brolin (taking over for Clive Owen), Rosario Dawson and Mickey Rourke, I was betting on the movie being a sure thing.

Hollywood begs to differ, though. Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For has been pushed back until next fall, 2014. No reason has been given for the move, but one could assume that it doesn’t bode well for the movie’s success. Rumors as to why the delay was made will probably kill it before the beginning of next year.

So those of you who are fans of the Frank Miller-based movies will just have to wait a little longer. Hopefully, the movie will see the light of day.

Gossip is one way for normal people (fans and detractors) to make sense of what a celebrity’s life in reality is when they are not working on TV, movies, or the recording studio. Gossips (whether amateur or professional) are always on the lookout for tidbits of information about celebrities, what they do, how they live their lives, and whom they spend their time with.

Real-Life Drama is So Much More Entertaining – lt is no secret that people are never content just watching celebrities on the big/small screen. In truth, they want to know exactly what stars do during their downtime, especially if it involves them getting into trouble. Real-life drama involving celebrities is much more fascinating that what people see on the tune or the silvers screen for that matter, and they certainly what to let it be known to many. Gossip usually revolve around celebrities and their dating life, family, whether they are cheating on their spouse and with whom, and so forth.

How Does Gossip Affect Celebrities?

Many publicists would claim that any sort of media exposure is always good for celebrities. This statement does not always hold true, especially in the case of celebrities who had their families (and careers) compromised due to malicious gossip. Many Hollywood stars would attest to the fact that gossip can certainly ruin their otherwise wholesome image, especially when it involves accusations of infidelity, drug use, or any other morally questionable activities.

Break-ups and Divorces – One of the most common ill effects of gossip is the destruction of relationships between lovers and/or spouses. Most celebrity relationships and marriages stand in perpetually precarious ground due to gossip, whether it is true or not. Maintaining relationships these days are hard enough without being constantly challenged by salacious rumors. The average rate of divorce in the country is about 40 to 50%, but Hollywood is batting at about 80%, which is exceedingly alarming.

Fleeting Careers – Gossip can also derail a budding acting/singing career, which is rather unfortunate for some really talented entertainers. Production and casting companies usually prefer celebrities who are not surrounded by too much negative publicity, even if it is mostly made of unsubstantiated rumours. The most bankable stars are those that do not receive too much critical press so being the subject of Hollywood gossip is never good news.

Why and How Does Gossip Proliferate?

The fact that people live in the information age helps disseminate all types of gossip at warp speed. Incidentally, people have the natural tendency to tell as many other people as they can about juicy rumours about celebrities. With the aid of mobile technology, social networking, and the internet in general, anyone can post gossips and rumors about any celebrity.

What’s more is that there is no way to curtail let alone control the proliferation of gossip, especially on the internet. Celebrities are always at the mercy of those who seek to spread rumours about them, regardless of whether it can be substantiated or not.

Is Gossip Really that Bad?

In truth, gossip is perhaps the highest and purest form of entertainment because anyone can start one and not worry about the consequences. While it might be fun for people to gossip about celebrities, there are real and serious ramifications to indulging in this activity.

Tim Waggoner’s Supernatural: Carved In Flesh is a good new entry into the television series’ mythology.

Knowing that I was a fan of the Supernatural television series, Titan Books sent me a copy of Supernatural: Carved In Flesh for a review. Having just finished the last page, I’m happy to report that although the book takes place during the dreadful season 7 of the series, it’s actually a great story that was very difficult to put down.

Carved In Flesh begins with Sam and Dean Winchester chasing down a new case. Reports of dried up husks of bodies have been reported in a small Midwestern town and they’re pretty sure that finding the person or thing responsible is something only they, as hunters, can handle. But once they discover what Dean lovingly refers to as “Frankenmutt,” all Hel breaks loose (and yes, I intentionally spelled that word without the extra “l” – read the book to find out why).

What I liked about this book is that although it takes place during the whole awful Leviathan incident (and what I would argue as the worst villains of the show so far), it is its own complete story. Waggoner wrote the book in such a way, though, that even new fans of the series will be able to enjoy this adventure, even if their knowledge of the Winchester brothers is limited. Waggoner does a great deal to explain their particular quirks: things like Dean’s fondness for pop culture references and Sam’s more secretive nature.

The plot itself is as good, if not better, than a lot of the past few season’s episodes and honestly, I wouldn’t mind seeing it turned into a future storyline for the brothers (minus the mention of the Leviathan). It has a lot of twists and turns and it’s one of those where you think you know what the brothers are dealing with, but it turns out to be something entirely different. But at the same time, it’s also similar to other villains they’ve had to fight. Waggoner obviously has a good handle on the show’s mythology and he’s used it very well in this book. What’s even more fascinating is that he has created a few new back story incidents to correlate the brothers’ history with what’s happening to them in the present.

Supernatural: Carved In Flesh is now available on Amazon, so if you’re a fan of the series, it’s definitely a well-done must-read.

Warehouse 13: Pete and Myka Hit The Suburbs Robin

This week, Defiance finds itself in the midst of a plague.

On last week’s Defiance, we were left with the teaser of Doc Yewll stating the following: “We’ve got ourselves a plague.” This week, we’ll see what she means. This mysterious plague is beginning to take over the city. It is carried by Irathients, but affects humans. This obviously leads to tension between the two species.
