Fortune Cookies for Wedding Receptions

Erin, the fortune cookies were a big hit at our wedding reception!

We ordered our fortune cookies with 5 funny marriage quotes. The cookies were then placed in small chinese take-out boxes that were given away as favors to our guests.
While on our honeymoon, we found a silver fortune cookie shaped box. We're going to keep one of each of the fortunes from the cookies in the box as a keepsake.

The service was fantastic! My questions prior to ordering were answered promptly, the cookies arrived on time, the fortunes were exactly what I ordered and the cookies were delicious!

Several people said that the cookies were the best fortune cookies they had tasted. We joked that we would keep a stash of your fortune cookies for when we order Chinese food in the future to replace the sub-par cookies provided by the restaurant.

Hey all! It's been a bit since my last post and for that I apologize. Right now I am six months pregnant with my first child and it is tough figuring out everything you need for a newborn. Once you figure it out and get a decent list... it almost seems worse! There are at least a 100 types of strollers, car seats, bottles, swings and bouncers and I am finding it difficult to figure out which one to get.

In the stores, I pull strollers off the shelves, take them apart and put them together again to see how difficult this will be once the baby is here. Then you have your registry, and the baby shower, and the childbirth preparation classes. Wow! I don't know about you but help would be great.

So below I have put together some links and resources for all the other soon to be moms out there and even for those of you that are moms and have even more to juggle and more experience.

First, lets talk baby showers. Since a baby is the most fortunate gift of all, why not share your good fortune with some personalized fortune cookies! There is a Giant Fortune Cookies Recipe with Pomegranate Granita, and this Hazelnut Fortune Cookie recipe looks so incredible that I want to try it when I get home!

Cute Fortune Cookies for Kids

Here is a story I received from a customer earlier today. I really think it's a great idea for any kind of kids party, especially birthday parties and class parties. Well, she can tell you better than I can!

Thank you for the wonderful personalized Cherry flavored fortune cookies.
My story: We adopted our daughter from China April 2005. On February 8, 2008 it was her 4th birthday which this year happened to be the day after Chinese New Year started (2/7/08). I asked if I could do a Chinese New Year/Birthday party for her preschool class.
I made cupcakes, used red sprinkles and gold flakes to decorate the icing, then placed a custom fortune cookie on top of each cupcake.
Most of these 3 & 4 year olds did not even know what the fortune cookie was, we had to show them how to break it open and NOT TO EAT THE PAPER inside, it was their fortune. It was a good learning adventure for all of us.

Cookies for Christening

Here is a pretty unique and fun fortune cookie idea that I received today from one of our customers. They held a Christening at a Chinese restaurant and used chocolate dipped fortune cookies as a favor and decoration at each place setting. Here is what they had to say:

It is kind of hard to tell, but I had white frosted and silver frosted containers with either lite blue or purple ribbon. Each container had one custom fortune cookie inside and we put one container at each place setting. The christening was at a Chinese restaurant and we used a snowflake theme. It was actually snowing the day of the event, so it worked out perfect! I put the remaining fortune cookies in a basket on the dessert table with the same color ribbons.

I have to admit, I am constantly shocked and amazed that people don't take advantage of the 5 custom messages they receive with their order of personalized fortune cookies. Sometimes it does make sense to only do one or two personalized messages, but come on! You get FIVE for FREE!!! Use them!

While people seem to be winning the lotto every time you turn around by using the lucky numbers from the back of their fortune cookie fortunes, fortune cookies aren't just used to "predict the future" or dispense useless wisdom anymore.

Here are some less traditional but fun uses for fortune cookie fortunes. If you have any fun ideas or ways to use fortune cookies, post them! We love hearing your ideas!

If you aren't familiar with the common joke of adding words or phrases to the end of your fortune to make it more interesting, here are some fun ones to try next time you go out for Chinese food. Add to the end of your fortune cookie message ..."in bed." With all the lame fortunes out there it really spices things up.

You are heading for a land of sunshine. (In bed!)
You should be able to make money and hold on to it. (In bed!)

Some other ones that work sometimes are adding to the end of your fortunes phrase like "in golf" "in the bathroom" and "in politics." Honestly, "in bed" is the MOST entertaining.

Fortune cookies make great ice breakers. Imagine a party or mixer situation where fortune cookie fortunes are used to cause debate, create discussion and stimulate conversation. Might be fun! They could be light-hearted, serious, authentic, political, debatable, sexual or fabricated. Anything to create buzz and get people talking.

Most recently fortune cookies have been delivering bad news instead of just useless advice. You can get xxx fortune cookies, politicians use them which makes the easy transition to fortune cookies for dogs... Not much difference there after all.
