In the first chapter of "The Origin Of Species" Charles Darwin has used this as one of the examples as there is a feather mutation which is called as "Silky", which gives an interesting lace effect to a Fantails tail feathers. With this kind of mutation Fantails are known as "Silky" or "Lace Fantails". Fantail has a small crest which starts at the line of the beak and eyes. Their feet always remains hidden beneath their long feathers. Fantail Pigeons long wings rests just under their tail feathers. Several colors are available of Fantails including black, almond, white, lavender, silver, gold and chocolate.
