~Greetings Fangreaders~

I know , I know, I know …It’s been awhile since our last newsletter. We lil’ elves have been working very hard in the depths of the dark dungeon to bring you some exciting news…

As many of you already know, we have always had a few chats that weren’t from our SVM or True Blood roots. Now we would like to present even more varied topics in our Fangreaders Chatroom Community. In addition to our love of SVM and True Blood and their fanfics; we are now open to all our book, fanfic, graphic novels, tv series and movie addictions. All paranormal and fantasy fangroups are welcome.

Making of a MASTERpiece Erotica Writing Challenge

Those fabulous people at The Writers Coffee Shop are having an OPEN CALL for all authors: Seasoned Veterans, First Time Newbies, and Fan Fiction Favorites... This is your chance to make history.

How to Participate:
The first part of our contest is our OPEN CALL.
You will need to submit the first three chapters of your story to our Making of a MASTERpiece contest. Post your story under the main category Making of a MASTERpiece and then choose the subcategory your story fits under.

Subcategories include:

~Greetings Fangreaders~

There has been plenty of excitement and news in our fandoms lately. With the premiere of the new season of True Blood, there are many opinions floating around and plenty of places to tell everyone how you feel about it. We not only have our True Blood chats, but you can join us in our Fangreaders forum to share your thoughts. Also be sure to see our MusingsbyChar over at the True Blood on Twitter Chatroom on Monday nights. Plenty of choices to get your fill of True Blood.

Sadly, in other news, there was a large cull over at FF.Net which has affected many in our fandom as well as others that we play in. Greetings Fangreaders,

Excitement is in the air lately with the release of Charlaine Harris’ “Deadlocked” and speculation growing for the Season 5 of True Blood which will be a completely new creature from any of the books. I’m excited for all these new inspirations for more SVM/TB fanfic and chat topics.

Welcome

A big welcome to all our newest members and look forward to meeting you all in the Fangreaders Chatroom. We have so many different chats and times for any member to just pop in and have fun. We also have many times available for those that may be interested in hosting a chat~ so please don’t be shy!

A note about membership and why:

As stated in our welcome letter, we feel it is important to have some means to ensure that all that participate are adults (18+). It may be a little fiddly at first, but once you have been in the chatroom you can re-enter at anytime with just a click. As administrator, I feel that this is the easiest and less evasive way to get the message to those that enter the chatroom that all are welcome that are 18+. Our Chatzy chatroom is not censored though we ask for all to be respectful of everyone. It is a relaxed environment where discussions may be of a mature nature. If we did not have these small measures our chatrooms would have to be constantly monitored to avoid any mature discussions or photos being seen by minors. If anyone has any problems in entering the chatroom, please contact Fairy ( http://kontactr.com/user/Fairyblood ). It is recommended that if you haven’t entered the chatroom for the past 90 days to just pop in sometime to make sure your link works.

Survey

In the next week or two, there will be a survey sent out to all the Fangreaders members asking what all you would like to see from our Fangreaders community. Community News

The Fangreaders are always up for something that anyone can participate. Musingsbychar has come up with a fandom wide event. Inspired by the Odessey2012 on Deviantart , anyone can join in at anytime.

The Chronicles of an Adventure

Launched this week , Chronicles of an Adventure is a collaborative event for writers and anyone that would like to express themselves creatively. Though based on the SVM fandom, all fandoms are welcome to join in.

In a nutshell: A story will be started with a premise (a prompt). All writers are asked to write a chapter based on that premise and create their own supernatural character. All those that submit a chapter will have them all posted and voted on. The winning chapter will be the premise (the prompt) for the next chapter and so on until the end of the story. All creative expressions (banners, pictures, videos, etc) will be welcome too and posted on the site to go with the chapters. Once the last chapter is finished, there will be a vote for the title of that particular story.

We will be having all our newsletters posted here so you never have to worry about losing the email. Eventually we’ll be phasing out manual emails of our newsletter to all our members. Calling all members who write original works!

The chatroom will be having a series of chats about the original works from our members. There will be advice for self publishing, meeting our authors that have published works, and much much more. The Fangreaders Awards

The Fangreaders were very proud to present our Fangreaders Awards for Excellence in SVM/ TB Fanfiction on the 25th of February 2012 on the Fangreaders Hall of Fame site.

We would like to thank all those in the fandom that participated in this celebration of SVM and TB fanfics by voting on the Fangies and were pleasantly surprised to have received 895 voting ballots. This was a group effort to highlight quality writing from the fanfic authors in both the Southern Vampire Mysteries and the True Blood fandoms.

Chatroom News

We are all very sad to see Blakes “Queen of Fun & Games” Boogie step down as Chathost. We wish her well with all her endeavours and hope she’ll still pop in and see us in the chatroom.

We are so very pleased that long time member Merick has decided to host her very own chat, “Talk Supe” starting Tuesday 6th of March at 9pm EST. We have all had fun with her amazing tarot reading and look forward to all the creative chats ahead. All of us wish you well with your new chat and hope everyone will drop in and check it out.

There are a few changes to the weekly schedule of chats. Starting next week the “Immortal Beloved” chat will be at 9pm GMT (4pm EST) and “Lady Hlins’s Basement” will be on Wednesdays at 9pm GMT (4pm EST).

PoeticJacqueline is the administrator who has plenty of experience with running many forums. As a fanfic author and avid RolePlayer, she wants to make sure everyone’s experience with the forum is fun for everyone. With so many members around the world that are unable to attend our chats, Josephine’s gives them the chance to have their comments heard on any of our chat topics. Please be sure to welcome Sephrenia as our Fangreaders Librarian in charge of our site the Fangreaders Library. This site is open for ALL members to post their works or recommendations of SVM/TB Fanfics, books, or stories. Now taking fanfic reviews of your recommendations.

We are asking all members that also write original works to please let us know where we may find your publications or links to the sites you post your works as we plan on posting those in our Library as well.

Our Fang Statement

The Fangreaders Community is a group of adult fans of SVM and TB fanfics. It is made up of writers and readers from all over the world. Here, our members can do as much or as little as they like to express their love for our fandom and have fun. Members are free to enjoy the freedom to express themselves in hosting chats, attending chats, recommending projects for the group, suggesting ideas, and much more. We have had members expand the Fangreaders umbrella as seen by our LiveJournal site, Fangreaders library, Hall of Fame, and our forum. Every project under Fangreaders gets the group support with banners on our blogs, mentions on the welcome letter to each new member, Tweets, Facebook postings, advertising from other members and anything else we can use to show our support for each member.

All ideas are welcomed and aided where possible. Our Administration Team are all clearly posted on all our sites and are always available for questions, comments and suggestions. Are there things that some members may not like? Yes, of course there are. We try to make sure that all projects are palpable to a majority of our members. We have been running for over a year and trying to be fair to everyone is not easy but we all continue to try and improve to be an inclusive place for all adult SVM and TB fans.

If a member leaves our group, what do we do with their projects? All members are free to take any project that they did on their own. If the project is shared, all those involved should get together and decide what to do with it. If nothing is said on a particular project from a former member, we feel it fair to take down their projects from our sites so that it will not be perceived as exploitation of their work unless it is discussed otherwise.

In addition, our group helps support contests held by any of our members. We help advertise and make available any of our services to the group of members that are hosting a contest.

Only our third time to have a designated group project, the Fangreaders Awards have been the culmination of months of preparations and a year in the works. Open to any member that wanted to help, we had a panel of 13 volunteers. Many measures were discussed to maintain fairness throughout the whole nomination and voting processes of both the Fangie Ballot and the Panelist’s Choice Award. Decisions were carried if made by a majority of panelists.

Does any one story or any one author represent the Fangreaders community as a whole? No, is the simple answer to that; we are too diverse. Diversity being at the core of our group, we have to learn to tolerate the things we may not like. The Fangreaders do not do anything with malicious intent. We don't infringe upon liberties of others. We respect other's opinions, and we expect the same in return.Our group offers a place for its members to express opinions and be an outlet for creativity in our shared passion for the fandom.

Merry Christmas Fangreaders

We are a buzzing here in our community and have so much to cover so grab some hot chocolate maybe with a little rum or a True Blood for our living-impaired members and make yourselves comfortable.
We are overdue for a newsletter and we have many new members, so I thought to highlight all that is going on in the Fangreader Community. So hang on to your stockings, we have loads of treats for you!

Firstly, some of our members would like to just have our newsletters to see what is going on in the community instead of or in addition to our daily postings on Fangreaders Chatroom Central site. The Fangreaders Newsletter site has been created to just post our newsletters. It will give you quick access to all our news and won’t get lost in your inbox. I hope that all our members would subscribe with your email or RSS in hopes to phase out manually emailing.

We would first like to welcome our newest Fangreader members. Many of you have checked into the chat room. Those that haven’t be sure to pop in and introduce yourselves, because we’re eager to meet you. We don’t bite..unless you ask, of course.

Fangie News

The Fangreaders Awards Ballots have been sent out to all our members to nominate their favourite SVM/TB Fanfic. The Deadline to have those submitted is 8th January 2012 so be sure to get those filled out. If you would like to have a pdf copy of the nomination ballot click HERE. If you’re a member of the Fangreaders and didn’t receive your ballot, please contact Fairy. If I could ask that you check your SPAM folder first, because some have ended up there. Once all the ballots have been submitted, we will open the public voting of the top four fanfics in each category on the 15th January to the entire fandom.
On December 2nd we unveiled the “Fangie”. It was commissioned from the talented artist, Kittrose, who assures us that Eric didn’t pose for her when she designed it. Hmm, I wonder. Each winner from each category will receive a Fangie to stare at for their very own with a banner.

The Fangreader Panelists have been working hard to come up with all sort of creative and fun ways to get the fandom excited about the “Fangies”. I’d like to thank all the panelists who have volunteered to help out. Jaxg , Jan_of_Arc, Blakes Boogie , XiaCheyenne , AlphaEN , LadyHlin ,JecaNS , Vilannh , , Vic_Vega66 , FanOtheFang , Modiggy ,Abbey245 . We are only getting started so look out for exciting news and promo fics of our favourite characters getting ready for the Fangreaders Awards Ceremony. We are very proud to have our friends from True Blood on Twitter in our Chatroom again this

Sunday, 18th of December at 9pm Eastern/ 8pm Central.
Our Chatroom will be transformed into Fangtasia celebrating the announcement of the winners of the Holiday True Bood on Twitter Writing Contest. Fairyblood will be your Hostess for the evening and all that are at least 18 are welcome to join us.

We have seen the premiere of the new chat called “Breaking Through the Block” hosted by Jaxg . With one author in the centre, everyone is asked to brainstorm in order to help break through writer’s block. The authors that have been the focus have commented on how much this has helped them. If you feel that you are suffering from writer’s block, let Fairy know, and we’ll book a chat just for you. We’ll need all authors and readers to help. Look for this to be a regular chat on Mondays at 9pm EST starting in the new year. This is such a fabulous idea, we think we should have it available for the Euro chat which is at 9pm GMT (4pmEST)~ anyone interested in helping out an author by hosting this chat, please contact Fairy.

Starting in January 2012, we will be having our Author Spotlights again so be sure to keep your eye out for dates and authors. JanofArc has a topic set up in Caffe Trieste so you can list which authors you want to bring into the Chatroom.

We are also very excited to bring you a new chat that will highlight our readers in the fandom. A reader will be asked to join us for the Reader Spotlight where we can all ask questions about what kind of fics he/she reads, what he/she looks for in fics, and much more. This is a great way to get to know one another and for authors to find out what their fans enjoy reading and why.

Our First Reader Spotlight starting next Monday will be with fffbone, a faithful and cherished member who will let us know what types of fanfics she enjoys reading. This new series of chats will be a great insight into the valuable members of our fandom, the readers, who give support to all the writers out there.

At the heart of what makes the Chatroom so much fun are our lovely Fanghosts. Each come up with topics that get all our members involved whether you are a fanfic author or a reader.

We are sorry to see Rebelina11 go, but we hope to see her pop in and say hi. BlakesBoogie won’t be hosting the month of January, but will return to us in February. We all wish you both the very best.
We do have two new Fanghosts starting this week: FanOtheFang (Fangie) on Fridays and Xia Cheyenne on Thursdays~ so please check out their chats and show your support.
