THE INSPIRATION
Life can be fun when we see as a child and when we feel free to be silly. Life also has its challenges. Although we are never alone, during these times, we may feel lonely, and fear can creep in and steal the light. Sometimes we may even feel paralyzed and no matter how hard we try

The Sketchbook Project 2012, #2 © 2012 Fannie Narte
I began work on this sketchbook while traveling to Hawaii.  I think that's what inspired this page.  But now I see how this could also represent President Obama, too, since he was born in Hawaii.  The "d" in "Dear Journal" is made from two morphed dried gourds, images that show up in my work quite frequently these days . . .

Songs of My Heart, Abstract #5, Textile Painting, 21" x 27"
Close-up view© 2012 Fannie Narte  This is the largest size I've done in my abstract series.  Can I go bigger?  Sure . . . in time, after I finish playing with this size.

This is a look at the entire piece, resting on my table. Have a fun and safe weekend!

Songs of My Heart 1, Abstract Series, Textile Painting, 9" x 12"
© 2011 Fannie Narte
Abstract 1 uses four pieces of my morning paintings.  The photograph is a 9"x12" view of my 12"x12" textile painting.  Why?  Hah!  Because I couldn't get a clear photo using my camera, and the scanner got a better picture of the image, but the scanner only has a 9" x 12" bed.  Makes sense, right?  ;-D  Sorry

DO YOU OVER-THINK YOURSELF INTO A STATE OF PARALYSIS?
Thinking and visualizing designs and compositions aren't difficult for me--closing the door is my challenge.  My head is always flooded with ideas and I sketch and journal and think and visualize and sketch some more and journal again and I choose that fabric and that thread and I

What makes your music blend with the heartbeat of those around you?

Most of my art is inspired by questions I've asked myself about the meaning of life, and who am I and where am I going, and what am I going to do, and am I really doing what I love, and am I living a happy life or am I just surviving, or who

What does magic look like?
Magic is all around us. It appears in many forms. It's in the air and reveals itself in the forms of birds, butterflies, rainbows, the sun, trees, the sky . . . .

Magic is within us.  It appears in many ideas.  It's in words like hope, smile, please, adventure,
