Along time ago in a magical far away kingdom, there was a princess who had met her prince charming.

blah, blah, blah…and they lived happily ever after….or something like that.

and in other news – one of my favorite uncle’s has taken a turn for the worse and they are calling in the family … I can’t believe it…he was dx with lung cancer only a few months ago… it’s gone to fast.

weights

Lifted weights today at the gym – did squats and Oh my – legs are sore.

Did Nu-Step for 15 minutes.

and ate a very healthy breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack.

Supper on the other hand was protein – as in a steak.

If I get out of bed in the morning and make it down the stairs to the car I will be thrilled.

Very sore.

But life is good.

A friend sent this to me and I wanted to pass it on…

A well-known speaker started off his seminar holding up a $20.00 bill. In the room of 200, he asked, “Who would like this $20 bill?” Hands started going up. He said, “I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this.” He proceeded to crumple up …the $20 dollar bill. He then asked, “Who still wants it…?” Still the hands ……were……… up in the air. “Well,” he replied, “What if I do this?” And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. “Now, who still wants it?” Still the hands went into the air. “My friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who DO LOVE you. The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we know, but by WHO WE ARE. You are special-Don’t EVER forget it.” If you do not pass this on, you may never know the lives it touches, the hurting hearts it speaks to, or the hope that it may bring. Our baby girl is 9 today.

Nine.

Where did the time go? It’s seems like just yesterday we brought her home.

And now, she’s talking on the phone, giggling over silly things with friends. She is growing up so fast, and there is nothing I can do to slow it down or stop it.

I hope 9 is a good year, baby girl.

Keep Climbing

As a parent how do you explain to your son or daughter that kids his/her age are just idiots. That he/she is an amazingly awesome kid?

How do I tell him that in the grand scheme of things, this is just a small portion of time, and this too shall pass. While his classmates are idiots (and they are); that he need to remain true to himself, and his goals. He need to keep trying to do his best, because it matters.

How do I tell him he can make it, that he can be whatever he wants. That if he can just hang on… 6th grade is just a year of changes, and it is hard. But there will come a time, when you can look back at this time and smile, because you will see how amazing you are.

Pan you are an amazing young man. your have accomplished so much, you have figured out what it is going to take to survive your school year, and this is NOT how it should be. You should NOT have to figure out how to maintain, to to co-exist with your classmates, you should be laughing and enjoying. Keep climbing buddy, you are so close to the top, and when this is over, when this hell that is middle school is over, it will get better.

We, your parents – we promise to be your spotters, will be there if you need someone to bounce ideas, we will be there to keep encouraging you. We believe in you, and all you can do. We’ve got your back.

Just hang in there, I know that you make it. There is so much more to life, then 6th grade…stick tight to your friends, you’ve picked good ones. Continue to make your good choices, and continue to laugh, never lose your laugh or your smile. It gets better, really it does.

Campfires

The tree that will never bear fruit.
It was deemed un-worthy by the experts to be planted in an orchard.
It is growing wonderfully in our backyard.
Apple was so very, very sweet!

A round of mini-golf with the kids,
the laughter, the smiles.

The girl amazes me everyday.

The boy – he is awesomesauce.
