Antoine Winfield returned to Vikings practice Wednesday for the first time since injuring his right foot on Oct. 18, but it remains unclear whether the Pro Bowl cornerback will play Sunday against Detroit, says the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Winfield had limited participation in practice after doing some conditioning work on the side on Monday. Winfield suffered the injury against Baltimore on Oct. 18 and then missed the final two games before the bye week. "He's done a great job of attacking this thing, and if at all possible he wouldn't miss one more snap," Vikings coach Brad Childress said.

The Bears Can't Draft

The draft has not been rewarding to the Bears in recent years, says the Chicago Sun-Times. GM Jerry Angelo has not drafted a Pro Bowl position player since 2004, when the team selected defensive tackle Tommie Harris and cornerback Nathan Vasher. Those all-star appearances are well in their past. Both could be ex-Bears before next season. The Bears are one of 10 teams that haven't produced a Pro Bowl position player via the draft since 2005. Angelo has drafted 43 players in the last five drafts and they count 10 of those players as starters, but none of them are elite. No one is left from the 2005 draft. Devin Hester is the best the Bears have to show from 2006, an improving wide receiver but not the true No.1 talent the team has been forecasting for years. Greg Olsen leads the Class of 2007. The hope is right tackle Chris Williams, the top pick from 2008, blossoms into a left tackle the team doesn't have to worry about, but he has had back surgery and has struggled. This last draft was thin after the Cutler trade, but wide receiver Johnny Knox has provided a boost while safety Al Afalava is the flavor of choice this season in a secondary that has a history of rotating late-round draft picks like him.

According to NFL.com, Eagles coach Andy Reid said Monday that Brian Westbrook will be out as long as his headaches persist. Westbrook got medical clearance last week, but was deactivated on game day. "I’m not going to stick him out there if he has the headaches, even if the tests were positive," Reid said. "(We'll) try to take every precautionary measure possible." It looks more and more like it's time to play LeSean McCoy.

Redskins Coach Jim Zorn confirmed Monday that Clinton Portis is "doubtful" to play in Week 10, according to the Washington Post. The Skins' offensive line is in all kinds of trouble and is a mess. If Portis is out, Ladell Betts would pick up the start. Zorn hasn't ruled out looking at Larry Johnson.

Acording to the Houston Chronicle, Matt Schaub said he "could see Kevin Walter catching more balls" with Owen Daniels out for the season. Schaub is one of fantasy footballs leading QBs and he raved about how Walter is fearless over the middle and how he has nice hands. But, Walters owners, don't get too excited. Schaub also said that a bunch of guys will get more looks.

According to the Chicago Sun Times, Bears WR Devin Hester practiced Friday, but his participation was "limited." He's listed as questionable for Week 9. However, both ESPN's John Clayton and Brad Biggs of the Chicago Sun Times report that Hester will be active against the Cardinals. The injury does make Hester a slightly more risky play.

Broncos Sign Ty Law

According to the Associated Press, the Broncos agreed to terms with DB Ty Law, formerly of the Jets. Josh McDaniels and Ty Law were together in New England. Law isn't the player he once was, but, even at 35, upgrades Denver's secondary. Between Bailey, FS Brian Dawkins, and Law, the Broncos' league-oldest back end now has 20 Pro Bowls. It's unclear if Law will be active on Monday night.

Coach Raheem Morris also admitted that it's quite possible Bryant will have to sit out Week 9.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Colts SS Bob Sanders is done for the season after being diagnosed with a torn biceps tendon. The tear was discovered while Dr. James Andrews performed what likely was initially only intended to be a "scope" on Sanders' elbow. The loss vaults Melvin Bullitt into the starting lineup full time. Bullitt is one of the top backup safeties in the game, but Sanders is a better playmaker.

"Superstar" RB Matt Forte has just two touchdowns on 19 goal-to-go rushes this season, the worst ratio in the NFL. The Bears are currently 25th in the league in red zone offense. Yuck and Yuck. But let's be real here. The Bears offensive line, especially the left side, has struggled to open holes in the running game all season. And it's showing...

According to the Detroit Free Pess, Lions coach Jim Schwartz said that Calvin Johnson will be a game-time decision for Week 9 at Seattle. Johnson practiced Wednesday and reportedly looked good. Calvin Johnson "certainly looks like he'll be ready" for this week's game against the Seahawks, according to the Detroit News. Johnson continues to work with the first-team offense in practice, and he's shown "no ill effects" from the right knee injury that has plagued him for three weeks.

Boldin To Miss Week 9??

According to the Cardinals website, WR Anquan Boldin sat out practice Wednesday, and coach Ken Whisenhunt indicated afterwards that Boldin probably will miss Week 9. "We’ll do what it is the best interest of the team," Whisenhunt said. This ankle injury is getting old for Boldin owners and I have to say that sitting Boldin for a game or two would do him a world of good. If Boldin sits, look for an increase in targets for Steve Breaston.

Roy Williams Not On Same Page As Romo

According to profootballtalk.com, Cowboys WR Roy E. Williams admits that he is not on the same page with Tony Romo. "(Miles Austin) gets the ball thrown correctly his way," he said. "I'm stretching and falling and doing everything. Everybody [else] who's been here's balls are there. Our footballs (from Romo to Williams) are everywhere right now." Williams is averaging just 41.5 receiving yards per game this season. Well, maybe Williams isn't on Romo's page, and maybe, just maybe, Roy Williams stinks. Just a thought.
