So before you sign up for Yahoo Sports fantasy football, its about time that we started updating our fantasy football cheatsheets for the 2009 season.

This year will be different than most years, with a crop of new players taking over the first round and if the transition from RB to WR domination wasn’t evident in the last few years just take a look at the first round this year which is choc full of receivers, quarterbacks and of course running backs. If a kicker ever takes a spot in the first round of our fantasy football cheat sheets, feel free to punch us square in the face.

Anyway without further ordue, here is our overall fantasy football cheatsheet for 2009:

1. Adrian Peterson – The obvious choice
2. Maurice Jones-Drew – Fragile Freddy is gone, MJD jumps up huge
3. Michael Turner – Can he take another pounding in the ATL?
4. Matt Forte – Another workload question, but Forte is a stud
5. LaDainian Tomlinson – We still believe, he may fall further
6. Steven Jackson – The Rams finally got a fullback to block for him
7. DeAngelo Williams – Not sure if I believe fully but last year was impressive
8. Frank Gore – The Niners should be much improved in 2009
9. Steve Slaton – Not the biggest cat in the world, may take a pounding
10. Larry Fitzgerald – S-T-U-D. WRs are risky in the 1st but hes worth it.
11. Chris Johnson – Like Slaton, size is a concern but he has great speed
12. Randy Moss – Brady is back… uh oh!
13. Calvin Johnson – Think the Lions can’t score? Think again!
14. Andre Johnson – Possibly the best WR of the group, gets no respect.
15. Brandon Jacobs – Ward is a Buc, Jacobs is a stud.
16. Clinton Portis – Doesn’t score a lot but puts up great stats.
17. Brian Westbrook – Should be higher but ankle injury is a big concern.
18. Ronnie Brown – He wasn’t 100% last year, this year’s breakout stud.
19. Reggie Wayne – Peyton throws to him… nuf said.
20. Drew Brees – 5000 yards, tons of touchdowns, he does it again.

That’s a look at our 2009 fantasy football cheatsheet rankings for all positions, we will break down position by postion as the season gets closer.

Fantasy Football News

Just a quick note, we will continue to provide fantasy football cheat sheets every season but we are establishing a new site called FootballRumblings.com, a full time football rumors website that features the latest NFL rumors, trades, free agency signings, injuries and the latest in fantasy football analysis.

Fantasy Baseball Cheat Sheets Are Up

Well the football season is over and we hope our cheat sheets helped you all out. Even though they follow the same rules, dynasty fantasy football leagues are much different than standard leagues because age becomes a concern. Running backs get old quick so it's even more important for them. Special thanks to Brag Fantasy Football for providing a lot of this data.

1. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings
2. LaDainian Tomlinson, San Diego Chargers
3. Brian Westbrook, Philadelphia Eagles
4. Steven Jackson, St. Louis Rams
5. Joseph Addai, Indianapolis Colts

Adrian Peterson was just a rookie last season so he is ranked #1. Tomlinson is probably the top back for 2008 but he is getting older, so he is second. The other three are pretty much a toss up, I would be fine with any of them ranked third.

6. Frank Gore, San Francisco 49ers
7. Marshawn Lynch, Buffalo Bills
8. Clinton Portis, Washington Redskins
9. Marion Barber, Dallas Cowboys
10. Larry Johnson, Kansas City Chiefs

Most people think Frank Gore had a down year but he still rushed for 1,100 yards. He is an ideal back to target out of our dynasty fantasy football league rankings because of his age. Marion Barber is a good choice too since he is still young. Gore will be more involved because he will be more involved in the passing game so he should be ranked higher on a ppr dynasty cheat sheet.

11. Ronnie Brown, Miami Dolphins
12. Reggie Bush, New Orleans Saints
13. Willis McGahee, Baltimore Ravens
14. Ryan Grant, Green Bay Packers
15. Brandon Jacobs, New York Giants
16. Laurence Maroney, New England Patriots
17. Edgerrin James, Arizona Cardinals
18. Jamal Lewis, Cleveland Browns
19. Willie Parker, Pittsburgh Steelers
20. Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars

Beware of Jamal Lewis and Edgerrin James. Both backs are getting up there in age and only have a year or two left before they fall off. Ryan Grant could be a good back but let's see how life without Favre treats him. In a couple years Maurice Jones-Drew could own the dynasty cheat sheet, this could be a good time to draft him.

21. Rudi Johnson, Cincinnati Bengals
22. Thomas Jones, New York Jets
23. Darren McFadden, Oakland Raiders
24. Jonathan Stewart, Carolina Panthers
25. Michael Turner, Atlanta Falcons
26. LenDale White, Tennessee Titans
27. Earnest Graham, Tampa Bay Bucs
28. Matt Forte, Chicago Bears
29. Fred Taylor, Jacksonville Jaguars
30. Kevin Smith, Detroit Lions

Rookies to keep an eye on include Darren McFadden, Jonathan Stewart and Rashard Mendenhall, who will all be quickly ascending up our dynasty cheat sheet next season. McFadden should also get a good amount of catches so he would be ranked very high if we had a dynasty ppr cheat sheet.

Week 2 Fantasy Football PPR Cheat Sheets – Wide Receivers

Hundreds of fantasy football leagues are making the switch from standard scoring to points per reception (PPR) but there are very few sites that feature PPR Fantasy Football Cheat Sheets. If you’ve never done a PPR league the basics are the same but some possession receivers, Wes Welker for example, will jump way up the ranks. Lets take a look at how the 2008 Fantasy Football PPR rankings shake out. If you are looking for our standard take a look at our regular Fantasy Football Cheat Sheet for wide receivers.

1. Randy Moss, New England Patriots
2. Reggie Wayne, Indianapolis Colts
3. Terrell Owens, Dallas Cowboys
4. Braylon Edwards, Cleveland Browns
5. Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals

No surprise here, Randy Moss takes the top spot. He caught a record 23 touchdowns and is no slouch in the receptions department with 98 receptions. He should undoubtedly be the number one off your draft board. I had a tough time choosing between Reggie Wayne and Terrell Owens but in the end Wayne had close to 20 more receptions and in PPR fantasy football leagues, that should outweigh Owens’ touchdowns. Cleveland’s Braylon Edwards and Larry Fitzgerald round out our PPR cheat sheet top five.

6. Andre Johnson, Houston Texans
7. Marques Colston, New Orleans Saints
8. TJ Houshmandzadeh, Cincinnati Bengals
9. Wes Welker, New England Patriots
10. Plaxico Burress, New York Giants

Houston’s Andre Johnson barely misses the cut in our PPR cheat sheet, but a “tweaked” groin injury this early in training camp drops his stock. Wes Welker had the biggest leap from our regular scoring wide receiver rankings reaping the benefits of point per reception fantasy league scoring. The Bengals TJ Houshmandzadeh is also a pass catching machine and should be drafted earlier in PPR leagues.

11. Torry Holt, St. Louis Rams
12. Steve Smith, Carolina Panthers
13. Roy Williams, Detroit Lions
14. Anquan Boldin, Arizona Cardinals
15. Chad Johnson, Cincinnati Bengals
16. Greg Jennings, Green Bay Packers
17. Santonio Holmes, Pittsburgh Steelers
18. Brandon Marshall, Denver Broncos
19. Lee Evans, Buffalo Bills
20. Marvin Harrison, Indianapolis Colts

The third group features a couple of suspended players in Steve Smith and Brandon Marshall. Smith will be down two games for beating up a teammate and Marshall will sit three for off-field run ins with the law this summer. Both players represent great value when active, especially Marshall in a PPR scoring fantasy football league, hauling in 102 receptions last season.

21. Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions
22. Dwayne Bowe, Kansas City Chiefs
23. Roddy White, Atlanta Falcons
24. Bobby Engram, Seattle Seahawks
25. Jerricho Cotchery, New York Jets
26. Bernard Berrian, Minnesota Vikings
27. Laveranues Coles, New York Jets
28. Donald Driver, Green Bay Packers
29. Hines Ward, Pittsburgh Steelers
30. Kevin Curtis, Philadelphia Eagles

The last group in our fantasy football PPR cheat sheets features a stable of great young receivers who will dominate the wide receiver fantasy football rankings for many years to come. Calvin Johnson and Dwayne Bowe are particular standouts if your PPR fantasy football league has dynasty or keeper rules. Wide receivers have a job to catch the ball but some running backs are more efficient in the passing game than others. Here is what we think in our 2008 Fantasy Football PPR Cheat Sheets for Running Backs.

1. LaDainian Tomlinson, San Diego Chargers
2. Brian Westbrook, Philadelphia Eagles
3. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings
4. Steven Jackson, St. Louis Rams
5. Joseph Addai, Indianapolis Colts

The Vikings have stated that they will make a concerted effort to get Adrian Peterson more involved in the passing game but until we see it his stock takes a hit. We had Peterson ranked #1 in our regular scoring 2008 fantasy football cheat sheets but in PPR not only did LaDainian Tomlinson leapfrog Peterson, but Brian Westbrook did as well. Westbrook is gold in PPR fantasy football leagues averaging a ton of receptions over the past few seasons. St. Louis’ Steven Jackson also ranks very highly on our fantasy football PPR cheat sheets for running backs for the same reason.

6. Frank Gore, San Francisco 49ers
7. Marion Barber, Dallas Cowboys
8. Clinton Portis, Washington Redskins
9. Marshawn Lynch, Buffalo Bills
10. Larry Johnson, Kansas City Chiefs

With Mike Martz as the new offensive coordinator in San Francisco, Frank Gore rockets up our 2008 PPR fantasy football cheat sheet with the potential to have a ton of receptions out of the backfield this season. Of the remaining group, only Lynch should be heavily featured in the passing game, but the rest make up for it in yards and touchdowns.

11. Ronnie Brown, Miami Dolphins
12. Reggie Bush, New Orleans Saints
13. Willis McGahee, Baltimore Ravens
14. Ryan Grant, Green Bay Packers
15. Brandon Jacobs, New York Giants
16. Laurence Maroney, New England Patriots
17. Edgerrin James, Arizona Cardinals
18. Jamal Lewis, Cleveland Browns
19. Willie Parker, Pittsburgh Steelers
20. Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars

New Orleans’ Reggie Bush is a points per reception monster and could potentially wind up in the top five or ten on next year’s PPR cheat sheet with the Saints passing 10% more than any other team in the league. Of the remaining players on the list, keep an eye on Ronnie Brown who is returning from knee surgery. Last season, Brown was the top back for the first 8 weeks before being placed on injured reserve and could be the biggest steal of all the players listed on this fantasy football PPR cheat sheet.

21. Rudi Johnson, Cincinnati Bengals
22. Thomas Jones, New York Jets
23. Darren McFadden, Oakland Raiders
24. Jonathan Stewart, Carolina Panthers
25. Michael Turner, Atlanta Falcons
26. LenDale White, Tennessee Titans
27. Earnest Graham, Tampa Bay Bucs
28. Matt Forte, Chicago Bears
29. Fred Taylor, Jacksonville Jaguars
30. Kevin Smith, Detroit Lions

Rookie Darren McFadden should be heavily featured in the passing game with his great hands, so he could wind up being a big time sleeper and probably the most productive of all the rookie running backs in PPR fantasy football leagues. Jonathan Stewart will be a great rookie back as well but his production in PPR could be limited since he is more of a banger.

That concludes a look at our PPR running back rankings. Be sure to check out the PPR wide receiver Fantasy Football Cheat Sheet as well.

Technorati Tags: Football, Fantasy Football, Fantasy Football Cheat Sheet, PPR Cheat Sheet

2008 Fantasy Football Cheat Sheet – Wide Receivers

Your fantasy football drafts are closing in faster than you think, and they will be here before you know it DON'T BE UNPREPARED! We've gone through our 2008 Quarterback Rankings and 2008 Running Back Rankings, now lets take a look at who tops the list in our 2008 wide receiver rankings.

1. Randy Moss, New England Patriots
2. Reggie Wayne, Indianapolis Colts
3. Terrell Owens, Dallas Cowboys
4. Braylon Edwards, Cleveland Browns
5. Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that Randy Moss should rank number one in our fantasy football cheat sheets with a record 23 touchdowns. The three things you can count on in life are death, taxes and the Colts putting up gaudy numbers, so Reggie Wayne, who led all receivers in yards last season, takes the number two spot by a nose over Terrell Owens. The Cardinals Larry Fitzgerald may be the most talented receiver in the league, but the less than stellar quarterback duo of Matt Leinart and Kurt Warner prevents him from taking the top spot.

6. Andre Johnson, Houston Texans
7. Marques Colston, New Orleans Saints
8. TJ Houshmandzadeh, Cincinnati Bengals
9. Steve Smith, Carolina Panthers
10. Plaxico Burress, New York Giants

Texans’ receiver Andre Johnson could easily be in the top five on our fantasy football cheat sheets, but health concerns for both he and quarterback Matt Schaub make him a somewhat risky draft pick this year. When he is active he is as dominating receiver as there is in the league. With the Saints passing more than any other team in the league, Marques Colston is a great pick if for nothing but the opportunity. The Giants’ Plaxico Burress is a touchdown catching machine, and is Eli Manning’s number one target. Look for him to post similar numbers to last season.

11. Torry Holt, St. Louis Rams
12. Brandon Marshall, Denver Broncos
13. Roy Williams, Detroit Lions
14. Anquan Boldin, Arizona Cardinals
15. Chad Johnson, Cincinnati Bengals
16. Greg Jennings, Green Bay Packers
17. Santonio Holmes, Pittsburgh Steelers
18. Wes Welker, New England Patriots
19. Lee Evans, Buffalo Bills
20. Marvin Harrison, Indianapolis Colts

Broncos’ receiver Brandon Marshall had a controversial off-season with a “mysterious” injury and multiple incidents with the law but if he is healthy and not struck down by the commissioner, he’s a WR1 quality receiver. The Patriots’ Wes Welker benefited from matchups when teams were forced to cover both Moss and Donte Stallworth, but without Stallworth stretching the field a drop in receptions should be expected. Marvin Harrison had a controversial off-season of his own, but if he is on the field, he is as good a receiver as anyone.

21. Roddy White, Atlanta Falcons
22. Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions
23. Donald Driver, Green Bay Packers
24. Dwayne Bowe, Kansas City Chiefs
25. Jerricho Cotchery, New York Jets
26. Bobby Engram, Seattle Seahawks
27. Laveranaues Coles, New York Jets
28. Bernard Berrian, Minnesota Vikings
29. Kevin Curtis, Philadelphia Eagles
30. Hines Ward, Pittsburgh Steelers

The physical freak Calvin Johnson will show us what he is made of after a back injury held him down for most of 2007. Without Mike Martz in Motown, Johnson will have to work harder for his catches. He has the raw ability and has a chance to rank in the top ten in next year’s fantasy football cheat sheets. The Jets tandem of Laveranues Coles and Jerricho Cotchery make excellent second wide receivers but are often forgotten in fantasy drafts.

Technorati Tags: Football, Fantasy Football, Fantasy Football Cheat Sheet

2008 Fantasy Football Cheat Sheet – Running Backs

Our 2008 Quarterback Rankings are off and running but despite the fact that in real football quarterbacks are most important, we all know that Running Backs rule fantasy football. We spend our first couple rounds drafting backs so you need to choose wisely if you want to win your fantasy football league. Lets take a look at the 2008 Fantasy Football Running Back Rankings.

1. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings
2. LaDainian Tomlinson, San Diego Chargers
3. Brian Westbrook, Philadelphia Eagles
4. Steven Jackson, St. Louis Rams
5. Joseph Addai, Indianapolis Colts

Call it an upset but after a simply amazing rookie season, the Vikings Adrian Peterson tops our fantasy football cheat sheets by a nose over the Chargers LaDainian Tomlinson. If you were to argue that Tomlinson should be number one we wouldn’t lose any sleep over it, but if Peterson didn’t miss two games he would have outperformed LT in all categories… with less carries. If you get a chance to draft in the top five this season you wont be disappointed, we rank Eagles’ back Brian Westbrook slightly ahead of Steven Jackson, with Joseph Addai trailing only because of the possibility of a committee situation with Dominick Rhodes returning to Indy.

6. Marion Barber, Dallas Cowboys
7. Clinton Portis, Washington Redskins
8. Frank Gore, San Francisco 49ers
9. Larry Johnson, Kansas City Chiefs
10. Marshawn Lynch, Buffalo Bills

After the top five running backs there is a huge drop off in this year’s fantasy football cheat sheets, so if you can trade in to the top five picks… do it! If you can’t trade in the Cowboys Marion Barber has a nose for the end zone and should be the full time featured back in Big D. The Redskins’ Clinton Portis is a much better fantasy running back than people like to give him credit for, and could be on the board much longer than he should. The 49ers’ Frank Gore will look to bounce back from a disappointing 2007 and PPR leaguers should note that new 49ers offensive coordinator Mike Martz will see to it that Gore catches his share of passes out of the backfield.

11. Ronnie Brown, Miami Dolphins
12. Ryan Grant, Green Bay Packers
13. Willis McGahee, Baltimore Ravens
14. Reggie Bush, New Orleans Saints
15. Laurence Maroney, New England Patriots
16. Brandon Jacobs, New York Giants
17. Edgerrin James, Arizona Cardinals
18. Jamal Lewis, Cleveland Browns
19. Willie Parker, Pittsburgh Steelers
20. Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars

Dolphins back Ronnie Brown was the best back in football for the first half of the season before a knee injury ended his season. With Jake Long added to an already decent offensive line, Brown could return to dominance if can stay healthy. If you can steal him in the second, (or better yet, the third round!) you may have the steal of the draft. The Patriots Laurence Maroney disappointed fantasy owners early on but came on strong at the end of the year posting two 100-yard games in the final two weeks and adding two more in the playoffs. Most fantasy owners wont remember that Jamal Lewis finished fifth in the league in rushing yards last season, but he falls to the middle of the draft with durability concerns.

21. Rudi Johnson, Cincinnati Bengals
22. Thomas Jones, New York Jets
23. Earnest Graham, Tampa Bay Bucs
24. Jonathan Stewart, Carolina Panthers
25. Michael Turner, Atlanta Falcons
26. LenDale White, Tennessee Titans
27. Darren McFadden, Oakland Raiders
28. Matt Forte, Chicago Bears
29. Fred Taylor, Jacksonville Jaguars
30. Kevin Smith, Detroit Lions

The final group in our top 30 is choc full of rookies with Panthers back Jonathan Stewart leading the list. Stewart is a big bruising back who should be able to work his way to the featured back role despite splitting carries with DeAngelo Williams. The Raiders’ Darren McFadden, Bears’ Matt Forte and Lions’ Kevin Smith all make their first appearance in our fantasy football cheat sheets and should all get the chance to start as rookies for their respective teams. All of these rookie running backs make good third running backs for your fantasy team in 2008.

Technorati Tags: Football, Fantasy Football, Fantasy Football Cheat Sheet, PPR Cheat Sheet

2008 Fantasy Football Cheat Sheet - Quarterbacks

1. Tom Brady, New England Patriots
2. Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Colts
3. Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys
4. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints
5. Carson Palmer, Cincinnati Bengals

There is no doubt that Tom Brady starts off our 2008 fantasy football cheat sheets, coming off an NFL record 50 touchdowns. The always dominating Peyton Manning takes the second spot, although off-season knee surgery could force him to miss most, or all of training camp. The battle for the third spot in our rankings was a little murky but we gave the edge to Tony Romo’s touchdowns over Drew Brees’ yards. If your league devalues touchdowns you should bump Brees to third.

6. Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers
7. Derek Anderson, Cleveland Browns
8. Matt Hasselbeck, Seattle Seahawks
9. Brett Favre, Green Bay Packers???
10. Eli Manning, New York Giants

Big Ben Roethlisberger barely misses the cut for the top five in this year’s fantasy football cheat sheets, but has a very good chance to make the leap if he can follow up his career year with a strong season. Brett Favre is a total wild card at this point, we list them as a Packer, but who knows what uniform he will be wearing by the time training camp rolls around. Derek Anderson shocked the fantasy world throwing 29 touchdowns but with no track record to go on, he is the riskiest pick in the top ten.

11. Donovan McNabb, Philadelphia Eagles
12. Jay Cutler, Denver Broncos
13. Marc Bulger, St. Louis Rams
14. Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers
15. Matt Schaub, Houston Texans
16. David Garrard, Jacksonville Jaguars
17. Jake Delhomme, Carolina Panthers
18. Jon Kitna, Detroit Lions
19. Jason Campbell, Washington Redskins
20. Aaron Rogers, Green Bay Packers

Donovan McNabb struggled last season, battling back from an ACL injury he suffered in 2006. If he can remain healthy McNabb could be the biggest quarterback bargain this year. Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler has all the tools to be a top ten quarterback, but his diabetic condition may hold him back, especially late in the season. The Panthers Jake Delhomme has recovered quickly from Tommy John surgery and with receivers Muhsin Muhammad and DJ Hackett in the fold, along with pro-bowler Steve Smith, Delhomme could be in for a big year if he is truly healthy. New Green Bay starting quarterback Aaron Rogers will look to step out of Brett Favre’s shadow… that is if Favre isn’t standing on the field next to him. Jason Campbell, the former auburn football standout, should take big steps again this season in the Jim Zorn offense.

21. Vince Young, Tennessee Titans
22. Jeff Garcia, Tampa Bay Bucs
23. JeMarcus Russell, Oakland Raiders
24. Matt Leinart, Arizona Cardinals
25. Alex Smith, San Francisco 49ers
26. Trent Edwards, Buffalo Bills
27. Rex Grossman, Chicago Bears
28. Chad Pennington, New York Jets
29. Kyle Boller, Baltimore Ravens
30. Tarvaris Jackson, Minnesota Vikings

Vince Young is a very exciting player, but unless you get points for excitement, jersey sales and magazine covers, Young is a very average fantasy football quarterback. JeMarcus Russell will be a great quarterback someday, but this year is probably not the year he takes a big step. Chad Pennington will have a battle for the starting job during training camp with Kellen Clemens nipping at his heels. We’ll give Pennington the starting job for now, but Clemens will take it over by year end, if not sooner. Tarvaris Jackson rounds out our 2008 fantasy football cheat sheets but we could see some improvement with the revamped Vikings offense around him.
