The Spring Basket Guide

It’s springtime! That means you’ve been collecting those Flowers from your Spring Gardens and your neighbors and you’re ready to redeem them for some cool new gifts, right? That’s good, because the Spring Basket is now here!

You’ll get your empty Spring Basket free the first time you play FarmVille after the update, where you will immediately be entered into Placement Mode. You can place the Spring Garden on your farm now, or you can choose to place it in your Gift Box for use later (by switching to the Multi-Tool for instance).

Once the Spring Basket is on the farm you can click on it, then select “Look Inside” to see this window:

The Spring Basket works like many of our other item-gathering style events in FarmVille. You acquire Flowers through various methods, then “Use” them from your Gift Box to place them in your Spring Basket. As you accumulate these Flowers in the Spring Basket you can redeem them for exclusive items.

You can acquire Flowers by:

Harvesting your Spring Garden.
Requesting Flowers from your neighbors directly (by clicking on the “Ask for More” button).
Receive Flowers from a neighbor who uses the Free Gifts page (or click on “Send Flowers”).
Purchase 5 Flowers at a time by clicking on the “Buy Flowers” button (for 5 Farm Cash).
Click on a Spring Basket-related feed from a neighbor.
Harvest a neighbor’s Spring Garden.

Here are the five different types of Flowers (note they all count as the same when you put them in the Spring Garden):

As you put the Flowers in your Spring Basket you’ll see the meter on the left fill up. The physical look of the basket also changes as you fill it with wonderful, blooming Flowers.

You can also click on the “Comparison” tab to compare how many Flowers you’ve accumulated with your neighbors.

To get one of the special exclusive prizes, simply click on the “Redeem”

button next to the prize you want—if you have enough Flowers (the available amount of Flowers that is redeemable is at the top of the window, “You have X available to use!”) you’ll be asked to confirm the purchase.

If you hit “Accept” the prize will be stored in your Gift Box and you can share an extra prize with your friends.

Note: Like the Pot of Gold, there will not be a second page of exclusive prizes added. These six items are all that will be available for this event.

Spring is in the air, and what better way to celebrate it than with a garden? The Spring Garden is the perfect answer—it’s a multi-level constructible building where you will be able to choose which visual state of the garden you wish to see on your farm.

You’ll get the Spring Garden frame for free the first time you play FarmVille after the update, and you will immediately be entered into Placement Mode. You can place the Spring Garden on your farm now, or you can choose to place it in your Gift Box for use later (by switching to the Multi-Tool for instance). If you put it into your Gift Box, you’ll be able to place it on either your Home Farm or English Countryside farm.

If you lose or sell your Spring Garden, you can purchase it again in the Market. It is listed under Buildings and is available for 5 coins. (If you see that it is Locked, make sure you don’t already have one by checking your Gift Box.) Note that a Farm Cash version is available, though it is for a fully constructed Spring Garden. You can only have one coin version of the Spring Garden at any one time, though you can have multiple Farm Cash versions. You also must be Level 5 or higher in order to use or purchase the Spring Garden.

Once the Spring Garden frame is on the farm you can click on it, then select “Look Inside” to see this window:

The Sheep Pen is a multi-level constructible building where each level requires more building parts to complete it:

Level 1 – 12 parts total: 4 Wooden Boards, 4 Nails and 4 Bricks – harvest for 1 Flower once every 24 hours
Level 2 – 48 parts total: 12 Wooden Boards, 12 Nails and 12 Bricks – harvest for 2 Flowers once every 24 hours
Level 3 – 90 parts total: 30 Wooden Boards, 30 Nails and 30 Bricks – harvest for 3 Flowers once every 24 hours

Like many constructible buildings, you can acquire these parts by:

Asking your neighbors for these parts by posting a help request to your feed (click on the “Ask For More” button for each type of part).
Give parts to your neighbors via the Free Gifts page or the “Send Gifts” button.
Acquire parts by spending Farm Cash. Click on the “Buy” button for that particular part to purchase all of the particular part that you need (the cost is X Farm Cash, where X is the number of parts left that you need), or buy those parts individually in the Market (you can find them in Farm Aides -> Other).
Acquire all needed parts for the building by spending Farm Cash (click on the “Complete Now” button to purchase parts for the rest of the building). The cost is X Farm Cash, where X is the total number of parts left needed to finish the building.
Potentially through the use of Special Delivery Boxes.
Using individual parts already available in your Gift Box.

As you complete each level of the Spring Garden it becomes bigger and grander visually:

The Spring Garden is harvestable once every 24 hours for Flowers; the bigger the Garden, the more Flowers you’ll get out of it. Flowers can also be gifted to other neighbors via the Free Gifts page, and you can also acquire Flowers by harvesting neighbors’ Spring Gardens. There are 5 different types of Flowers available (they all do the same thing):

Finally, one new addition we’re trying out with the Spring Garden is the ability to let you choose how it’ll look on your farm. When you complete Level 2, you’re given the option of choosing how you want the Spring Garden to look:

Simply click the Choose button underneath the Spring Garden you like the best. Note that you won’t be able to change it again until you hit Level 3, when you can change the look of the Spring Garden any time you want by clicking on it, then selecting Look Inside to get the selection window.

English Countryside farm

Think you can handle the crop cycles and other day-to-day activities of both your Home Farm and your English Countryside farm at the same time? Now you have the option to turn off Pausing for your other farm!

When you travel between to your other farm, you’ll get a pop-up window confirming your travel request (in this example we are moving from the English Countryside to the Home Farm):

Right now Pausing is selected, meaning that when I go to the Home Farm, my English Countryside farm is Paused. If I go back to the English Countryside, my Home Farm will be Paused. At the bottom right there’s a link to “Change Options”. Click on that and you’ll see the Travel Options screen:

As you can see “Pause current farm” is selected. Now, however, you have the option to “Play both farms” meaning crop cycles and other items on a timer (like stables, orchards, etc.) will keep growing no matter which farm you’re on. If you want to do that, click on the option for “Play both farms” and click Save. (If you don’t want to make a change, just leave it the way it is and select Save.)

Back on the original window you’ll now see a change:

Now FarmVille asks if you want to switch farms while reminding you that both farms will continue to grow. Note that you’ll get this travel window every time you travel between your Home Farm and your English Countryside farm. To go ahead and move between farms, select Travel Now! or Cancel to not make the trip just yet.

FarmVille English Countryside is here and we’re sure you have a lot of burning questions about how it impacts you, how to get there, and what you need to know. Here are some answers! Q: How do I start getting the quests to go to English Countryside? A: If you qualify (must be Level 20) you’ll get a pop-up with the text, “Look! Up in the Sky!” An animation of a crashing Airship will happen, and you’ll start the quests on getting the Airship fixed and will soon you’ll be able to go to England. The quest icons show on the left-hand side of the FarmVille game window. Q: I’m not seeing the Airship crash animation. What's wrong? A: It may take awhile to load on your system, or there may be cases where it can get “stuck” before playing. If you refresh the game and wait a little bit, the animation should play. Q: Do I have to go to England? A: No! You don’t have to complete any of the quests and you can continue on your own farm at any time you want. We want you to go to England to experience all the new features, items, and quests but you don’t have to. Q: Is storage universal between farms? Can I transfer items between farms? A: Storage is not universal between farms. Each farm has its own individual unique storage space. Once an item is placed on one farm, it cannot be moved to the other farm. Q: What about the Gift Box? A: Many items stored in the Gift Box can be placed/used on either farm. This includes many decorations, buildings and animals. Unique quest items, collections, and certain consumables may only be used on one of the farms, depending on the item. This also means purchases made from the Model Farm, which go straight into the Gift Box, can then be added to whichever farm you wish. Once you place that item, however, it cannot be moved to the other farm. Q: When I visit one farm my crops and trees don’t grow in my other farm. A: Inactive farms—the farm that you are currently not on—are Paused while you work on your active farm. Crops won’t wither, but they won’t grow either. Timers on animals, buildings, trees and other objects will also not advance until you go back to that farm. Q: The “Cotton To It” quest requires me to plant and harvest 50 Cotton crops before finishing. This is unfair! A: The quest requires you to just plant the Cotton, not to harvest it. Q: Why do I need to add 35 neighbors before I can go to England with the Bon Voyage Party? A: You don’t need to add any neighbors to qualify for the Bon Voyage Party, you just need to invite 35 (and they need to accept the invitation) in order to go instantly. You only need to have 4 neighbors to come to your party in order to start the 4-day countdown timer, and 15 neighbors are needed to be eligible to go in 2 days. Alternatively you can pay Farm Cash to skip this set altogether. Q: Will the England quests expire? A: No they won’t. Q: Where can I get a ram to start sheep breeding? A: You can get a ram by starting the Sheep Pen quests on your English Farm; finishing the “Et Tu, Brutus?” quest will get you Brutus the Ram, which you can breed with. Other rams can be acquired by purchase in the Market or through your neighbor’s feeds if they are sharing newly bred rams. Q: Do I need to buy Farm Cash sheep in order to breed? A: You can breed with most types of sheep; they don’t need to have been purchased in the Market. Q: Why are the lamb colors produced by sheep breeding totally random? A: The colors (and potential patterns) aren’t totally random, but they are based on a range of colors based on each of the parents. Q: Where can I learn more about Sheep breeding? A: Check out our Sheep Pen guide at http://forums.zynga.com/showthread.php?t=964444 for all the details! Q: How come I can’t sheep breed on my Home Farm yet? A: We’ll be adding this ability at some point in the future. Q: People are sending me Postcards for the “Make It Your Own” quest but they’re not registering as progress. A: The Postcards are stored in your Gift Box—you need to look in your Gift Box, then choose “Use” to apply them towards your quest goal. Q: I can’t see my neighbor’s Home Farm when I visit. Why not? A: When you visit a neighbor’s farm, you can only see the farm they are currently active on—the Home Farm or the English Farm. You can see which they are on in the neighbor bar—a flag will denote if they are on the English Farm or not. Q: I finished all the quests. Now what? A: Stay tuned! English Country Side How To get There

The English Countryside is currently only available to a randomly selected group of users as we are beginning a slow release of this feature. We will announce when this update is live to 100% of users in the near future. By now you’ve heard all about FarmVille English Countryside, but how do you get to this second farm where you can embark on new adventures and experience an all new farm theme? This guide will show you the way. Look! Up in the Sky! The only real requirement you need to begin your journey to England is that you need to be Level 20. If you already are Level 20 (or as soon as you hit Level 20) you’ll see this message pop up:

Once you click “Check it Out” you’ll get an amazing animation of The Duke’s Airship crashing on your farm:

Followed by The Duke declaring that he’s just brought you a deed:

Which entitles you to a new farm in England!

Clicking on “Place Airship” will immediately put you into Placement Mode. You can choose to place the damaged Airship on your farm now, or you can place it in your Gift Box for use later (by switching to the Multi-Tool for instance). Note that placing the Airship (which triggers the quests) is completely optional. If you’d rather not bother with England right now, you can keep the Airship in your Gift Box and pull it out when you’re ready. This is how the Airship looks on your farm:

When you place it, you’ll be launched into the first quest. If you don’t see the quest window pop up, you can always find the quest icon on the left-hand side of the screen:

The icon shows which quest you’re on as well as what part of the quest (part 1, part 2, etc.).

A note about quests: Usually each quest has between two and four objectives that need to be met in order to complete it. Many objectives can be skipped by paying Farm Cash (simply click on the “Skip” button located next to the objective you wish to skip by paying Farm Cash and you’ll be asked to confirm your decision). As an objective is completed, a green check mark will appear next to it. You can close the quest window at any time by clicking on “Okay” at the bottom of the window. Once all of the objectives for that quest are completed a reward consisting of a set of prizes will be awarded to the player. This can include XP, coins, and a special item or two. If you haven’t done so already, click on the quest icon to bring up the quest window.

Quest: Drop Anchor! The Duke needs something heavy to hold down his airship. This first quest has just one objective: buy three crates and simply place them on your farm. Click the Get Crate button and you’ll be taken to a Market screen which shows a single entry for a Crate. Each Crate costs 150 coins.

Click Buy, and then place it on your farm by clicking on an open spot. You’ll see the “Progress!” banner open up next to the quest icon, which indicates you’ve made progress in the quest.

Crates, like certain other items such as fences, are set to auto-purchase, meaning when you buy one and place it, you’ll automatically be given the choice of placing another for the same amount of money. This way you don’t have to go back into the Market each time you want to buy something. (If you want to get out of this mode, just click on the Multi-Tool icon.) Now all you need to do is place two more crates and you’ll see the quest complete window pop up:

Good job! The quest rewards are:

100 XP

5 Farm Cash

2,500 Coins

You can choose to share in your good fortune with some of your friends by clicking on the Share Coins button (this will make a post to your feed), or you can just close the window by clicking on the red X at the upper right. Now you’re ready for the next part of your quest! Quest: Cotton To It

The Duke wants to bring you back to England to see the new farm, but the Airship has sustained some damage. Cotton will be needed to help patch it up.

This quest deals entirely with planting the Cotton only (not harvesting it). Simply plant 50 plots of Cotton by hand or with a vehicle and the quest will automatically complete. Alternatively you can skip the act of planting Cotton by clicking on the Skip button and paying 15 Farm Cash.

The quest rewards are:

100 XP

1 Flag

2,500 Coins

Quest: Nice Supplies

To prepare for your journey you’ll need some supplies. One should do the trick! Click the Get Cow button and you’ll be taken to a Market screen which shows a single entry for a Cow.

The cost is 300 coins for a single Cow. Click Buy, and then place it on your farm by clicking on an open spot. That’s all you need! The quest complete window will now pop up.

The quest rewards are:

2,500 Coins

Quest: Bon Voyage Party

You’re ready to go for England, so it’s time to throw a party and all of your neighbors can be invited—the more you get to come, the faster it’ll take for you to be able to leave. Clicking on the quest icon will bring you to the Bon Voyage Party window:

Click on the Invite Friends button to start inviting your neighbors. When they accept, the meter on the left will begin to fill, and their avatars will show up at the party. Here’s how many you’ll need:

0-3 neighbors: unable to travel to England

4-14 neighbors: depart in 4 days

15-34 neighbors: depart in 2 days

35 neighbors: depart right now

Once you get four neighbors, you’ll see a 4-day countdown timer show up underneath the Bon Voyage Party banner at the top of the window. If you manage to get 15 neighbors, the countdown timer will decrease by 2 whole days or will hit zero (whichever is better for you). Getting 35 will instantly zero the countdown timer.

Note you also have the option of foregoing the party with the use of Farm Cash. Click on the “Unlock” button to pay 60 Farm Cash and get ready to travel to England instantly.

Once the countdown timer reaches zero or is otherwise unlocked, you’ll see this banner show up at the top of the window:

Now click on “Go to the English Countryside”. You’ll see this informational pop-up:

You can click on Okay and The Duke will show you how to travel to England; otherwise you can hit Cancel. In any case, the way to travel to England is in the upper right-hand portion of the game window. Right now you can see you’re on “My Home Farm” and there’s an Airship icon right next to it:

Simply click on the icon, and you’ll see the option showing “To the English Countryside”. Click on that and away you go! When you’re in England you can use this to come back to your Home Farm at any time. Note that when you are on one farm, the other farm is “paused”—that is to say, all timers are stopped. Your crops will not wither on a paused farm, but they will not grow either (animal or tree timers will also remain the same). A neighbor can only visit whichever farm you are currently active on; they cannot visit a “paused” farm.

With the Sheep Pen you can begin to breed ewes and rams to produce some startling new offspring--the likes of which have never been seen before in FarmVille.

The breeding possibilities are nearly limitless, so what are you waiting for? Let's get started! Getting Your Sheep Pen Currently you can only get a Sheep Pen if you’re on your English Countryside farm. You’re first introduced to the Sheep Pen with the Et Tu, Brutus? quest, though you can purchase the Sheep Pen at any time from the Market (it is listed in Buildings, for 5,000 coins) if you’re on your English farm. You can only have one Sheep Pen on your farm at any one time.

The Sheep Pen is a multi-level constructible building where each level requires more building parts to complete it:

Level 1 – 30 parts total: 10 Wooden Boards, 10 Nails and 10 Bricks – includes 1 stall, sheep capacity: 20

Level 2 – 45 parts total: 15 Wooden Boards, 15 Nails and 15 Bricks – includes 2 stalls, sheep capacity: 30

Level 3 – 60 parts total: 20 Wooden Boards, 20 Nails and 20 Bricks – includes 3 stalls, sheep capacity: 40

Once you get the first level of the Sheep Pen constructed, you’ll be presented with the Sheep Pen window:

You will see up to three sheep in the Sheep Pen—these are the sheep that you last put into the Pen. Now it’s time to breed! Breeding Sheep Breeding works by pairing together a ram and a ewe. The result will hopefully be a baby lamb, which once fully grown will take on some of the characteristics of its parents, such as colors, patterns, etc. There will more than likely be somewhat of a variation of the colors, depending on the colors the parents possess. Lambs may inherit patterns and other traits from their parents as well. Right now your Sheep Pen is empty, so first move some sheep into it (note: not all types of ewes or rams can be put into the Sheep Pen, and specialized shapes like the Babydoll Sheep are not reproducible). If you completed the Et Tu, Brutus? quest you would have already received Brutus the Ram, a two-tone purplish ram. You can acquire rams by other means, including purchase through the Market. For this example, we’ve moved Brutus, a Babydoll Sheep, a Brown Sheep, a Clover Sheep and 3 White Sheep into the Sheep Pen:

Let’s select the sheep we want to breed with—the Brown Sheep should be a good mix. If you click on it you’ll see you have the option to Breed it, or Remove it from the Sheep Pen (click on the X to close this pop-up).

After clicking on Breed, the ewes will turn transparent and the rams will remain in full color, so you’ll know exactly what rams you can breed with.

Selecting Brutus will give you nearly the same options as above, so just select Breed again. Now you’ll see the breeding display:

Breeding a new lamb is a 24 hour process and carries (by default) a 50% success rate, meaning if you’re not successful you have to start all over again. You can improve your chance of success (while decreasing the amount of time it takes to breed) by using Love Potions. You can acquire Love Potions by:

Buying them via the Buy Potions button in the Sheep Pen window.

Asking your neighbors for Love Potions via the Ask for Potions button in the Sheep Pen window.

Here’s the impact of using Love Potions:

No Love Potions used: 50% success rate, breed time: 24 hours

1 Love Potion used: 60% success rate, breed time: 12 hours

2 Love Potions used: 70% success rate, breed time: 6 hours

3 Love Potions used: 80% success rate, breed time: 3 hours

4 Love Potions used: 90% success rate, breed time: 1 hour

5 Love Potions used: 100% success rate, breed time: instant

You can use the up and down arrows to choose how many Love Potions you want to spend. If you don’t have enough, you’ll be prompted to buy more. When you’re satisfied with your chances, click on Breed (or Cancel if you don’t want to try breeding at this time). You may have to wait a few seconds… So now the ram and ewe are, um, doing their thing:

You’ll see the stall at the upper left is occupied and their places in the Sheep Pen pasture are replaced with helpful signs. If there’s a timer, a clock in the stall will show how much time is left to go. If they’re done (or you used instant breeding), the Ready! button will show up over the stall. Click on it.

With any luck, you’ve bred a new lamb! You can choose to name your lamb (choose anything within the Terms of Service), choose to Give it Away (this will make a post to your feed) or you can keep it. At this moment, you still don’t know how the lamb will turn out—you’ll need to grow it up. Once you click on “Keep Lamb” you’ll get the option to place it on your farm.

Click anywhere on your farm to place it. You can click on the lamb at any time to get a menu of options:

A lamb can be fully grown using 10 Baby Bottles. You can acquire or give Baby Bottles by:

Asking your neighbors directly by clicking on “Ask for Bottles”

Purchasing Bottles in the Market for 1 Farm Cash each

Acquire all the needed Bottles by spending Farm Cash (click on the “Complete Now” button to purchase the remaining Bottles). The Cost is X Farm Cash, where X is the number of Bottles needed to grow the Lamb.

Also note you can change the name of the lamb at any time by choosing Change Name (even after the lamb is fully grown). Selecting Feed Bottles will give a Bottle to the lamb. Once you’ve applied 10 Bottles the lamb will now grow up into a full ram or sheep:

And you’ll get this pop-up asking you to celebrate by sharing this exact type of sheep with your friends via feed post:

As noted above, sheep breeding can be a somewhat random process, based on the colors and patterns of the ram and ewe used. Each color a parent possesses has a certain color range to it that can be applied to the lamb in question, so you never really know what you’re getting exactly. In this example of using Brutus and a Brown sheep, these varieties were produced:

So as you progress in breeding different sheep types, the chances of producing more color variations increases dramatically. Other Sheep Pen Notes Sheep Pens can also be expanded. Click on the Expansion button in the Sheep Pen window to start the expansion process. Each expansion increases the sheep capacity by 10, while adding an extra breeding stall to the Pen (this will let you breed another lamb simultaneously using a different ram and ewe combination). If you don’t have any handy ewes or rams to work with, you can buy some specific English Countryside ones in the Market. You can find them in the Animals category. You’ll notice a button for the Family Tree. It’s not active yet, but soon we’ll be adding a fun breeding mini-game for Sheep Pens so stay tuned! __________________

Will our neighbors be able to visit our English Countryside farms? Will they be able to “help” on my farm? All your neighbors will be able to visit you in the English Countryside to see your new English Farm, and we think you’ll be eager to show it off. They will also be able to help you by fertilizing your English crops, tending your chicken coop full of English chickens, and so on. We’ve tried hard to make farming in England feel new and exciting, while preserving the gameplay our players love, and making it super-easy to get started and build your farm up right away. We hope it will seem fresh and fun, but also familiar and comfortable.

Why do we need so many boards, bricks, and nails? I'm running out of room in my gift box. You’ll need boards, bricks, and nails to build things in the English Countryside, just as you do at home, but if you’re running out of room in your gift box you probably have enough! Will there be new crops/animals/decorations that are only available on the English farm? Lots! Almost everything on your new English farm will be something you’ve never seen before. Your second farm in the English Countryside will offer the chance to grow new crops like English Peas, King Edward Potatoes, Blue Bells, English Roses, and many others. In fact, all the crops you can grow in the English Countryside are brand new. New animals include the Shorthorn Cow, Shire Horse, and Dorking Chicken, but we think some of the most exciting new animals will be the sheep you can breed for yourself in your Sheep Pen. There are some fantastic new decoration items, and many of the best ones can be earned as rewards for participating in the story to help the Duke’s village in the English Countryside. Of course there will be plenty of terrific things available in the marketplace too, but now players also have the option to earn some really impressive items through gameplay, without spending any Farm Cash or coins. The amount of new content is truly amazing. We hope every player will find something to enjoy in the English Countryside.

Will it be linear and task driven (aka quests), or will it retain a lot of the free-form creativity that is found in FarmVille? The English Countryside will offer the chance to participate in a storyline with the characters who live around your English Farm. You don’t have to participate in the story in order to work on, decorate, and expand your second farm. We hope that players will like these additions and will enjoy engaging with these new features and earning the rewards they offer. We think the rewards for participating in the storyline will really knock your socks off. We’re giving away unique decoration items like the English Police Call Box, great new avatar clothing and costumes to let you dress up as a Dashing Aviator or English Lady, and of course some shiny new animals like the adorable English Rabbit. Sheep breeding questions... Will the resulting lambs be able to grow up? If so, will they all be ewes or will some become rams? You’ll be able to breed your own Rams and Ewes to create unique lambs with characteristics from both parents. You get to name each baby Lamb and have the choice to keep it or let a friend adopt it to raise on their own farm. When the lamb grows up, you can breed it as well, to create family trees and new combinations. Every baby lamb has a chance to be a Ram or a Ewe. Baby Lambs will get their coloration from the Ewe, while the pattern will come from the Ram, but they won’t develop their full coloration or pattern until they grow up.

Will only specific sheep be able to be bred or can we use any? Will it be similar to the greenhouse in which only certain pairs can be bred together? Any existing ewe can be bred, including special holiday ewes like the Love Ewe or the Clover Ewe. If you have an ewe on your farm right now, then you�ll eventually be able to breed that ewe in the Sheep Pen. Existing rams will not be compatible with the new Sheep Pen, but new rams look different from the older ones, so it should be easy for you to tell which ones are breedable. You won�t be able to take your current sheep to the English Countryside, but once you learn the ropes of breeding sheep on your English farm, you�ll have the chance to build a Sheep Pen at home. Think of the possibilities! Will there be a lot of room [for sheep breeding], or will we be able to have multiple buildings? The Sheep Pen will start with one “Breeding Suite” with the ability for players to expand it up to three. Once you select the Ram and Ewe to breed, that suite will be occupied for a day while the sheep “get acquainted”. You can speed the process along, and increase your chance of successfully producing a Lamb, by using Love Potions. We think the expanded Sheep Pen will be big enough for most players’ needs, but like everything in FarmVille, we will pay attention to how you use it. If there’s a need for more space we’ll try to find a way to do that. Will we have to purchase the English Countryside with Farm Cash or add new neighbors if we want to play? No! You won’t have to add new neighbors in order to travel to the English Countryside. Everything you need to do can be accomplished with your existing friends and neighbors. It won’t cost you Farm Cash, either. We want all of our players to try farming in the English Countryside, so we’re making it as easy and fun as possible to get there. The deed to your second farm might literally fall out of the sky and land on your farm! Will this be energy-based like FrontierVille? Or will it be the same as FarmVille? You won’t need energy or anything like it. We’re committed to keeping FarmVille’s gameplay just as our players have always enjoyed it. We want to add more ways to play and more things to do, without taking away anything you like about the game now. Farmers are some of the hardest-working people around, so they should never run short of energy! Will the English Countryside be flat like FarmVille or will it have some rolling hills and streams or maybe even mountains? Your farm in the English Countryside will be surrounded by gentle hills and green plains of grass. Spring Countdown!

It’s time for the Spring Countdown! For the next twelve days in a row play FarmVille and ask your neighbors for a special gift. Once you get all twelve you unlock a super-secret bonus prize! (For those of you who have seen the Winter and Valentine’s Countdown, this works pretty much the same way.)

You can access the Valentines Countdown via a special icon on the right-hand side of the FarmVille display.

Just click on it and the Spring Countdown window will open. Here’s how it works: every day for twelve days in a row, starting March 10, you will have the ability to get a new item in the Countdown. As you can see in the image above, the first item available is the Pastel Hay Bale. You can acquire these items by clicking on the “Ask/Share” button.

From there you’ll be asked to make a post to your own wall asking for this item. If a neighbor or friend gives you this item, they’ll get one in return. The criteria for acquiring that item of the day is met when you get the item from a neighbor or you get one by answering one of these feed posts. Each new day a new item will appear, and the process will start all over again.

What happens if I miss a day? you may inquire. That’s okay, you can catch up. For example, if I miss getting the first item on the first day, I see that I can still ask one of a number of particular friends for that item (click “Ask”), or I can just buy it outright for Farm Cash (the “Buy” button).

On the twelfth day all of the items will be visible. If you have received (by asking for or gifting to someone else, thereby getting one in return) all twelve items, the special bonus prize will unlock. The ability to acquire these items, as well as the special bonus prize, will remain for a few days after March 21 (the twelfth day), so even if you miss most of the days you still have a chance to catch up and unlock the special bonus prize.

You also have the option of bsuying the complete set ahead of time using Farm Cash. Just click on the “Complete Now” button at the bottom of the Spring Countdown window and you’ll be asked to make the purchase for the appropriate amount of Farm Cash (which is the total accumulated Farm Cash cost of all of the items minus what you’ve already acquired).

It’s time to start the Spring Countdown!

Duck Pond Expansion

Is your Duck Pond filled to capacity and your farm is now overrun with a plethora of colorful ducks? Save up those Watering Cans and Shovels then, as we’ve just released the new Duck Pond Expansions!

When you get this message, you'll get a second Duck Pond frame in your Gift Box when you refresh the game. Yes, you can put it on your farm and build it out. It should be okay. Really!

The Duck Pond can now be expanded twice; each expansion will increase the capacity of the Duck Pond by ten (10) and require twenty (20) Shovels and twenty (20) Watering Cans. The visual look of the Duck Pond on the farm will not change, and there will still be only five ducks you can display at any one time. However, the probability of getting a Duckling from the Duck Pond will increase with the number of ducks in the pond.

You can expand your Duck Pond by clicking on the Duck Pond, selecting “Look Inside” and then choosing the new “Expand” tab. From there you can see how many materials you need and what you’ve already used in the current expansion:

Like other constructible building parts, you can acquire these two types of parts by:

Asking your neighbors for these parts by posting a help request to your feed (click on the “Ask For Help!” button for each type of part).

Give parts to your neighbors via the Free Gifts page or the “Send Gifts” button.

Acquire individual parts by spending Farm Cash (click on the “Buy” button for that particular part). Each part is 1 Farm Cash.

Acquire all needed parts for the building by spending Farm Cash (click on the “Complete Now” button to purchase parts for the rest of the building). The Cost is X Farm Cash, where X is the amount of parts left needed to finish the building.

Potentially through the use of Special Delivery Boxes.

Using individual parts already available in your Gift Box.

Once you complete that expansion you’ll get a notice asking to Share some materials with your friends in celebration:

Pot OF Gold Have u got it Filled as Yet

Been collecting all those special gold items for St. Patrick’s Day? Well the wait is over and the Pot of Gold is now available! Just put your collected Gold Pieces into it and then redeem them for St. Patrick’s Day-themed unique prizes!

You’ll get your somewhat empty-looking Pot of Gold free the first time you play FarmVille after the update, and you will immediately be entered into Placement Mode. You can place the Pot of Gold on your farm now, or you can choose to place it in your Gift Box for use later (by switching to the Multi-Tool for instance).

Once the Pot of Gold is on the farm you can click on it, then select “Look Inside” to see this window:

The Pot of Gold works like many of our other item-gathering style events in FarmVille. You acquire Gold Pieces through various methods, then “Use” them to place them in your Pot of Gold. As you accumulate these items you can redeem them for exclusive items.

You can acquire Gold Pieces by:

Harvesting your Leprechaun’s Cottage.

Requesting Gold Pieces from your neighbors directly (by clicking on the “Ask for More” button).

Receive a Gold Piece from a neighbor who uses the Free Gifts page (or click on “Send Gold”).

Purchase 5 Gold Pieces at a time by clicking on the “Buy Gold” button (for 5 Farm Cash).

Click on a Pot of Gold-related feed from a neighbor.

Harvest a neighbor’s Leprechaun’s Cottage.

Here are the five different types of Gold Pieces (note they all count as the same when you put them in the Pot of Gold):

As you put Gold Pieces in your Mailbox you’ll see the gold coin meter on the left fill up. The physical look of the pot also changes as you stuff it full of gold.

You can also click on the “Comparison” tab to compare how many Valentines you’ve accumulated with your neighbors.

To get one of the special exclusive prizes, simply click on the “Redeem” button next to the prize you want—if you have enough gold (the available amount of gold that is redeemable is at the top of the window) you’ll be asked to confirm the purchase.

If you hit “Accept” the prize will be stored in your Gift Box and you can share an extra prize with your friends.

Note: unlike a few of our previous item-gathering events, there will not be a second page of exclusive prizes added. These six items are pretty much it for this event.

AVG Antivirus Promotional Plane coming soon

It looks like Zynga will be teaming up with AVG (a virus protection software) for a promotion in FarmVille in the near future, as we've come across an image and animation for a new AVG Biplane. While we all know that the original Biplane in FarmVille allows you to use instant grow on your crops in trees, we have a feeling this plane will serve a different purpose.

As AVG Antivirus software protects your computer from viruses, it would only make sense that this plane would offer some sort of protection to your farm as well. The most likely scenario is that the AVG Plane will come packaged with a timed wither protection boost - perhaps lasting up to a week, which is how long the effects of other promotional items have lasted in the past.

Of course, the official purpose of this Biplane remains to be seen, but be sure to check out the plane in all of its animated glory below. We'll make sure to let you know when the plane launches in the game, what it does, and how you can get one for your own farm.

St. Patrick's Day Clover Rabbit and Clover Sheep

Are you're looking forward to the next holiday in FarmVille, that being St. Patrick's Day, as much as this farmer, you'll want to know all about these two new St. Patrick's Day animals that we believe will be coming to the game as part of this year's celebration.

The two animals are the Clover Chicken and the Clover Sheep, with both being lovely shades of pale green, along with some clover accents in a darker green color. If green is your favorite color, you'll simply love these cute little fellas, let's put it that way.

As of right now, there's no known details as to how these animals will be released in the game, but with the Clover Rabbit being released as part of the Wishing Well feature, the likelihood that this pair will join it is rather high. Perhaps these items will be prizes in the (what we assume is) upcoming Pot of Gold feature? Or maybe they'll simply be available to purchase from the game's store for coins or Farm Cash.

Whatever the case, we'll make sure to let you know all of the details about these animals as soon as we have them, but for now, check out their animations above.

FarmVille St. Patrick's Day Sneak Peek: Clover Gnome, Clover Fountain & Harp

Along with the newest set of unreleased animals we've found in FarmVille, we've also come across a trio of new decorative items that we believe will be launched in the game, which will come as part of the St. Patrick's Day celebration (that should be kicking off strong any day now - perhaps this weekend?).

There are three decorative items to take a look at here: the Harp, Clover Gnome, and Clover Fountain. With Zynga's love of Gnomes (and players' love to collect them), the release of this one seems like a given in the game, while there is no guarantee officially that any of them will see the light of day. The Harp, meanwhile, seems like the perfect decorative item to include in the upcoming Pot of Goldcollection feature, but again, that is all speculation as well. For all that is known about these items as of this writing, they could very well be released as free gifts or as part of an upcoming Mystery Game, although the former possibility is incredibly unlikely.

While there is no official release date for these items, we do have a fun animation of the Clover Fountain in motion, as green water cascades over the themed tiers. You can check that out below.

Leprechaun's Cottage!

St. Patrick’s Day will soon be here and the second stage of our celebration (following the Wishing Well) is now here with Leprechaun’s Cottage! This storable multi-level constructible tree house can be harvested every twenty-four hours for golden items (which you will be able to redeem for gifts soon).

Building the Cottage

You will get the initial tree for Leprechaun’s Cottage for free the first time you play FarmVille after the update, and you will immediately be entered into Placement Mode. You can place the Leprechaun’s Cottage tree on your farm now, or you can choose to place it in your Gift Box for use later (by switching to the Multi-Tool for instance). You must be at least Level 5 to place a Leprechaun’s Cottage.

The Leprechaun’s Cottage is a multi-level constructible building where each level requires more building parts to complete it:

Level 1 – 12 parts total: 4 Wooden Boards, 4 Nails and 4 Bricks

Level 2 – 48 parts total: 16 Wooden Boards, 16 Nails and 16 Bricks

Level 3 – 90 parts total: 30 Wooden Boards, 30 Nails and 30 Bricks

Like many constructible building parts, you can acquire these items by:

Asking your neighbors for these parts by posting a help request to your feed (click on the “Ask For More” button for each type of part).

Give parts to your neighbors via the Free Gifts page or the “Send Gifts” button.

If you do not get Leprechaun’s Cottage initially or wind up deleting (or otherwise losing) it, you can purchase it in the Market (under Buildings). Note that you will be able to buy a fully constructed Leprechaun’s Cottage for Farm Cash in the Market at a discount (compared to if you were to buy each part individually for Farm Cash), and you can purchase multiple cottages for Farm Cash only.

Currently you can harvest the Leprechaun’s Cottage for golden items that you will be able to redeem for exclusive gifts. As the size of the cottage increases, so does the amount of items you can get per harvest. You’ll be able to redeem those items soon so stay tuned!

Wishing Well Guide

Ever see a well where according to tradition you could toss in a coin and make a wish that would come true? Well, you now have one in FarmVille!

Simply place the Wishing Well on your farm, toss in a Lucky Penny or two, and complete collections to get a special reward!

Everyone will get the Wishing Well for free the first time they play after FarmVille updates, and you will immediately be entered into Placement Mode. You can place the Wishing Well on your farm now, or you can choose to place it in your Gift Box for use later (by switching to the Multi-Tool for instance).

Once you place the Wishing Well click on it, and then choose “Look Inside” and the Wishing Well window will pop up. Every time you throw a Lucky Penny into the Wishing Well, something will pop back out, depending on which Collection you’re working on. You’ll start off with the St. Patrick’s Day Collection, which is Level 1. You’ll see there are six different items you’ll need to collect in order to complete the collection and move on to the next level. You won’t know which item will come out, however, as it’s totally random.

Everyone starts off with one Lucky Penny. Click on the green “Throw Lucky Penny” button at the center of the window to start. You’ll see the penny get tossed into the well and one of the six collection items pop back out. If you don’t have any Lucky Pennies, you’ll see two green buttons instead:

Here’s how you can give and receive Lucky Pennies:

Asking your neighbors directly for Lucky Pennies by clicking on “Ask For More”.

Give Lucky Pennies to your neighbors via the Free Gifts page.

Spending five (5) Farm Cash (click on the “Buy Pennies” button) for five (5) Lucky Pennies.

Possible extra Lucky Penny bonuses when you throw (these can also be shared).

Check marks will appear next to the boxes for those items you collect. Note that these are not actual in-game items that show up in the Gift Box or anything (in this fashion they work a lot like regular Collections). You can get multiple numbers of the same items, though you’ll get XP for each Lucky Penny toss you make.

Once you get all six items in that Collection, the “Throw Lucky Penny” button will grey out and the “Claim Reward” button at the lower right will appear underneath the Collection prize. Click the button to collect that prize (it’ll go into your Gift Box) and then you’ll move on to the next level. There are four Collection levels altogether.

Note you may also get a random bonus that can appear during a Lucky Penny toss. This bonus will show up in the Bonus box on the right, and usually consists of getting a few extra Lucky Pennies. The bonus is applied (one time only) as soon as you get it.

Land Expansion Guide

Land Expansion:

It’s time for some leg room, Farmers! The 28 x 28 Expansion can now be purchased from the Market for 4 million coins! You will also need:

1) add 10 new neighbors
2) have a minimum of 45+ neighbors.

For example. If I have 25 Neighbors, I will need to add an additional 20 to unlock this expansion. However, if I already have 45 Neighbors, I will only have to add 10.

Licensed Crops:

You can now plant the Limited Edition Cupid Corn crop when you purchase a one week license from the Market! The Cupid Corn Crop can be mastered and grants additional coins and experience when harvested!

License Cost: 10 Farm Cash. (Please know that this license will grant you an unlimited amount of Cupid Corn Crop seeds for one week only.)

Changes to Orchards:

We have made some adjustments to Orchards! When you collect from your Orchard and do not receive a seedling, you will get two watering cans to keep for yourself, and one watering can that you can share with up to 10 Neighbors.

We have also reduced the amount of watering cans required to grow a seedling from 10 to 8.

Breeding Your Ducks

Now that you’ve got one or more Duck Ponds teeming with ducks, what else can you do with them? Well, it’s time to start breeding some brand new ones!

Every time you harvest the Duck Pond (once every 24 hours), you have a chance of getting a Yellow or Brown Duckling out of it in addition to the general coin reward for harvesting. The color of the Duckling is determined by what kind of ducks are in your Duck Pond, and the color also determines what kind of ducks can be bred from it. If you just use previous ducks, like the Ugly Duckling or White Swan, you’ll almost always get a Yellow Duckling. If you use a mix of duck types, you may get a Brown Duckling.

You have the option to share this Duckling on your feed:

After this your Duckling will be placed in the Gift Box. You can then choose to place the Duckling on your farm or straight into your Duck Pond at any time from the Gift Box:

Placing the Duckling on your farm will start the breeding process. If you put the Duckling in your Duck Pond, it will stay a Duckling only and the breeding process will be on hold. Once you place the Duckling, a new window will appear (in this case, let’s assume it’s a Yellow Duckling):

Breeding ducks is a factor of both time and friendship. You can see a line of seven (7) Ducks here: the rarity of the Ducks increases as you go from left to right. However, the time you have to breed that kind of duck decreases while the number of friends you need to breed that duck increases (as you go from left to right). Over time you lose the ability to breed certain ducks for that particular Duckling.
Sounds complex? First, here’s a chart to map it all out:

For a Yellow Duckling, in order to get the valuable Indian Runner Duck I need seven (7) neighbors to help me over the next twenty-four (24) hours (the timer starts as soon as I put the Duckling on the farm).
If I only manage to get the help of five (5) neighbors, the best duck I can breed with the Yellow Duckling is the Goldeneye Duck for the next seventy-two (72) hours. However, if I don’t breed the duck within that period, I lose the ability to get the Goldeneye Duck and then the best duck I can get is the Red Billed Duck. A day later if I still don’t breed a duck, the best duck I can get is the Scoter Duck.

Alternatively, let’s say I get a Brown Duckling but can only get two (2) neighbors to help me out. I can only breed the Red Billed Duck or the Goldeneye Duck for the next six (6) days. But if a day passes and four (4) more neighbors help me out, I can still breed the Wood Duck.

To grow the Duck, just find the one you want and click on “Choose” beneath its picture. You’ll get the new duck in your Gift Box:

You can get help from your neighbors by just clicking on the “Ask For Help” button and choosing which neighbors you want to ask. This sends a standard request through the Zynga Message Center (ZMC) which the recipient can easily respond to. You can also choose to speed up the growth process by paying Farm Cash, which will let you breed whatever duck you want that hasn’t already been expired (if pay Farm Cash after two days, you can only breed five of the seven duck types).

After seven days the duck will just grow into the last available duck (the Ugly Duckling for the Yellow Duckling for example); if you’d rather keep the duckling as is you can close the window and you’ll be asked if you just want to keep the Duckling the way it is permanently.

Valentine’s Day is just a few weeks away so it’s time to get started collecting those Valentines in your Mailbox! As you collect Valentines through your Cupid’s Castle or by gifting, you can then redeem them for exclusive rewards like the Giant Teddy. Stay tuned because more prizes are on the way!

You’ll get your little Valentine’s Mailbox free the first time you play FarmVille after the update, and you will immediately be entered into Placement Mode. You can place the Valentine’s Mailbox on your farm now, or you can choose to place it in your Gift Box for use later. You’ll need to be level 5 or higher in order to place and use the Valentine’s Mailbox.

Once the Valentine’s Mailbox is on the farm you can click on it, then select “Look Inside” to see this window:

Valentine’s Mailbox works like many of our other item-gathering style events in FarmVille. You acquire Valentines through various methods, then “Use” them to place them in your Mailbox. As you accumulate Valentines in your Mailbox you can redeem them for exclusive Valentine’s Day-related items.
You can acquire Valentines by:

Harvesting your Cupid’s Castle.
Requesting a Valentine from your neighbors directly (by clicking on the “Ask for More” button).

Receive a Valentine from a neighbor who uses the Free Gifts page (or click on “Send Valentines”).

Purchase 5 Valentines at a time by clicking on the “Buy Valentines” button (for 5 Farm Cash).

Click on a Valentine-related feed from a neighbor.

As you put Valentines in your Mailbox you’ll see the gift meter on the left fill up. The physical look of the Mailbox also changes as you stuff it full of Valentines.

There are five different types of Valentines you can give or receive from your friends:

They all count as a single Valentine in the Mailbox.
You can also click on the “Comparison” tab to compare how many Valentines you’ve accumulated with your neighbors.
To get one of the special exclusive prizes, simply click on the “Redeem” button next to the prize you want—if you have enough Valentines (the available number of Valentines that are redeemable is at the top of the window) you’ll be asked to confirm the purchase.

If you hit “Accept” the prize will be stored in your Gift Box and you can share an extra prize with your friends.

There’s also a brand new quest called Love is in the Air! If you manage to get your favorite pig the sow of its dreams you can get some great rewards!

Model Farm

The Model Farm is now available in FarmVille! What is a Model Farm you ask? Think of it as a showroom for Limited Edition and other thematic items where you can see a wide variety of buyable goods arranged in a display farm (that you can visit at any time and even get rewards for doing so).

You can visit the Model Farm at any time by clicking on the Model Farm card, which you can see on the far right-hand side of the neighbor bar:

Once you click on it, you’ll be taken to the Model Farm, which works similar to visiting your FarmVille neighbors. You’ll see a farm similar to this, showing a fair number of unique items:

Here there are quite a few Limited Edition items; some of them may not be available (they might have expired in the Market, or could be coming soon), and a few may be regular Market items. Each item that can be purchased will have a glowing price tag next to it that fades in and out over time. Move your mouse over that item and you can see what it is and if it’s available. If you want to know more, just click on it and you’ll see a preview window similar to what’s currently in use in the Market:

For example, here we’ve clicked on the Icelandic Horse. You can see that it’s a Limited Edition item (with just 11 days left), that can be harvested for 84 coins every 3 days and will earn you 2,040 XP on purchase. The purchase price is 24 Farm Cash, though you can purchase more by clicking on the up and down arrows on the bottom left (the default is 1).

If you click “Buy” you’ll get a confirmation window:

If you click “Send” you’ll get a window showing all of your Farmville neighbors (note this option may not be available for some items). Now pick which of these neighbors to send this item to.

As a special bonus, every day you visit the Model Farm you can get a special prize—just for showing up!

Cupid’s Castle for Valentines

Love is in the air! FarmVille is gearing up for Valentine’s Day, and we’re starting off the festivities early with Cupid’s Castle! It’s a multi-level constructible building that you can build up now, and later you can harvest it for Valentines (which you’ll be able to redeem for special goods at a later date).
Building the Castle
You will get the initial frame for Cupid’s Castle for free the first time you play FarmVille after the update, and you will immediately be entered into Placement Mode. You can place the Cupid’s Castle frame on your farm now, or you can choose to place it in your Gift Box for use later. You must be at least Level 5 to place a Cupid’s Castle.

The Cupid’s Castle is a multi-level constructible building where each level requires more building parts to complete it:

Level 1 - 12 parts total: 4 Wooden Boards, 4 Nails and 4 Bricks

Level 2 – 45 parts total: 15 Wooden Boards, 15 Nails and 15 Bricks

Level 3 – 60 parts total: 20 Wooden Boards, 20 Nails and 20 Bricks

Like many constructible building parts, you can acquire these items by:

Asking your neighbors for these parts by posting a help request to your feed (click on the “Ask For More” button for each type of part).

Give parts to your neighbors via the Free Gifts page or the “Send Gifts” button.

Acquire individual parts by spending Farm Cash (click on the “Buy” button for that particular part). Each part is 1 Farm Cash.

Acquire all needed parts for the building by spending Farm Cash (click on the “Complete Now” button to purchase parts for the rest of the building). The Cost is X Farm Cash, where X is the amount of parts left needed to finish the building.

Potentially through the use of Special Delivery Boxes.

As you complete each level of Cupid’s Castle, it becomes bigger and grander visually:

If you do not get Cupid’s Castle initially or wind up deleting (or otherwise losing) it, you can purchase it in the Market (under Buildings). Note that you will be able to buy a fully constructed Cupid’s Castle for Farm Cash.
