Next Step , New Dreams....

Last week was full of events !
I am a kind who likes to remain busy; be it work, pleasure or just dreams. I need to be occupied with something at all given points of time. Last weekend was nothing short of it. Started by boarding an almost missed flight to native country and ended with love. Yes, you read it right, not intimacy but Love.
After those long years in a relationship, I allowed to take it to next step before it started itching. With immense pressure from parents of both sides, I gave the nod for family meetings and fix the marriage. Seems like a happy moment at first, but things usually turns out hectic and tensed in these situations, atleast this is what I always thought. My presumptions proved right most of the time in this scenario. So going into flashback now, as soon as I had given the nod for family meeting, excitement turned into nervousness for both parties that how will it all go. My family is worried about making an impression on in-laws and vice-versa. But bride and groom were already ready and filled with plans. It was just the matter of families sharing sweets together. The day arrived and they met in the absence of bride and groom. Quite a nervous moment for bride and groom when they hope that everything goes as per planned and spare them from the efforts of running away like it happens in boy meets girl flicks. It all went well in the end except few pointers. I will discuss the pointers later. So after the meeting, the date was finalized where both families should meet for lunch along with bride and groom and other relatives to exchange gifts and finalized the date for marriage. Yes, it is one stupid Indian marriage culture, primarily just a waste of money , but essential to break the ice.
I had to fly back from Dubai(Where I work my ass off to earn some bucks to get married) to India. Unlike other scenes, it is not just a 3hour flight trip to my native country, it is the 4hr flight trip plus 6hours train journey to my native city, where this meeting is scheduled to happen. After I landed at New Delhi, I knew it will be a journey to remember. But I didnot entered Delhi this time as I left last time while going back. This time the moment was light. I mean, this time I was weighing light. All thanks to 2months of strict calories intake planning, although I was not fulfilling the BMI requirement but had apparently lost some precious 5 kgs from my awesome body. Journey from Delhi to Kanpur (my native city) was not short but enjoyable because I was having the company of my love.

Who is a fashion buyer? what are the job responsibilities? Well , you can find the answers in any retail text book and I have no intention here to preach you from the book. We have many interesting things to know and do than discussing the text book.

Now lets talk about the “pants” and “fire”. Becoming a fashion buyer is as competitive as sustaining as a buyer. Donkey’s work will fetch you the buyer’s profile but even horse’s work can’t guarantee you the permanent position. Yes , being a buyer you are responsible for your purchases but that is not all. You are responsible for the sale of those purchases , you are responsible for the under- buying and loss of sales , overbuying and loss of finances , your store layout , your brand’s VM , your graphics , your merchandising and the list goes on. It is true and vindicated that a buyer’s profile can fetch you the luxuries of your life but nobody has intimated about the sacrifices. Round the clock updates of your products , late hours at office , weekendless weeks but a huge bank account. Be polite with your supplier and show gratitude to your customer but buy the product at a right price from a right place , WOW , Contradicting , isn't it? . If a shipment gets stuck or the goods get blocked , if the sales get lower and the purchases gets higher , then only one person’s pants are on fire.

Prices and Pay – How can increasing footfall contribute

With the completion of 1^st phase of DSF (Dubai Shopping Festival) , both products and prices have witnessed a make-over. DSF which started with a relatively slow response (when compared to lavish spending history of the festival) has seen a heard of tourists and expats residing in the country, both. There is no second opinion about the monetary gains for the customer and the brands from is festival, you get the best deal of the season. You cannot call it as a best deal of the year as promotions happen throughout the year in this part of the world ranging from electronics to apparels. Hence, it is really hard to mark any deal as the best deals every penny spent by you will make you not disappoint you. Well , just to add , these promotions will definitely add to huge unnecessary expenditure because of the lucrative nature of them.

Coming back to price points ,last year start has seen the mark downs in price points on all products include the fresh stocks , courtesy recovering phase of debt hit country and its people. Families have cut down on expenditure and saving become the priority after the series of job losses and bankruptcy , which forced the brands to provide the necessary mark down to atleast increase the foot fall , even if does not ring the cash bells. But things have changed now. Prices are not sky rocketing but they have definitely gone up and the sales are actually sky rocketing. On weekends, you have to stand in the queue for atleast 20 min to pay for your purchase. Yes, cash registers are short of spaces to record the sales. For instance, I was in Dubai mall yesterday (it is the world’s 2^nd biggest mall in terms of area, just next to the world’s tallest building) and I was literally looking for space to keep my feet forward. It looked to me as if someone is distributing things for free. I took the metro to reach there but I was too scared of getting crushed in the metro rush while coming back to I decided to opt for taxi and to my surprise, there was a queue too. I waited 30min in the taxi queue to get one.

As far as the stores are concerned , from Inditex group to HnM and from top shop to American eagle , every store was on “upto 70%” discount but I agree that it is hard to find sizes and variety. I found the best deal in bershka and zara in terms of product. River Island seemed the costliest in the Inditex group while comparing the fresh stock. Definitely there was a markup of atleast 25% from what I have noticed on august last year. Prices are going up , market is recovering as per newspaper editors and jobs are abundant. Well , I have a question here , can any one reply to me that what about the salary hikes ? and even if jobs are galore , where are the worth salary packages? .

Month of the year--- February

When the feeling of love surmounts the degree of isolation or when you find young lads with the flower termed as the symbol of love, trying to test their luck, then you know you entered the best month of the year. This is the month in which people leverage those varieties of flowers which give them pains to cram its name. But undoubtedly, the month where flower blossoms simultaneously with the heart of each individual, where the weather gets quixotic and the birds gets chirpier.

Never before in my life, I realized the so called boons of this majestically, error-free month. This year is a prodigious one for me in umpteen respects. I played a gallant at the start of this year and entered the sanctum (refers to February here) with the eliciting voice of “her” words. Had I not been listening to her rubbish (this is what she terms her preaching as), I would never had got a chance to ponder over this resplendent gift of nature. Immediately after a long conversation which happened with timely breaks because of some not-so-necessary stuff in the idiot box (I cursed the person who invented this idiot box that particular day) demolishing the substance of our talk (she had frequent mood swings and I did not want her to get tapped in any of her own swings and deprive me of her upcoming thoughts about the month in which we entered together this year), I knocked my keens to activate my unconscious brain, as I do not use them when I talk to her and allow my heart to take over action of my words, and decided to pen down the mystery of this beautiful month, which was unfolded to me by the person I admire. . I was attentive and all ears to her voice, which am always (mostly trying to cast my spell by exhibiting that I am a good listener, although which I am but not to everyone). Every good thing has to end at some point of time and our conversation’s fate was no different. But I extracted the kernel from those precious moments and it inspired me to share my thoughts as I am doing it.

This month starts with the “late-farewell” to one more amazing year of my life which I had lost at the last quarter of January. Lovers envisage about the proceeding of the 2^nd week in the 1^st week of February. You know, 2^nd weeks unfold itself with the twinkle in every lover’s eye and give goons a chance to explore their never-shared-unsolicited-emotions. I personally do not believe in these days and weeks story as I think that every odd day of the year is a perfect day to express one’s thought till the time it reflects the purity of one’s feelings. But those eyes are fond of the fantasies which unveil in this month. I want to write about the happening of the 2^nd week but finding it difficult to give words to my thoughts hence will require some more time and a separate day to do so. 3^rd weeks follows with the aftermath of the happenings from the conjuring 2^nd week and in this case, publishing this article would be one its implications. The last week of this month is indisputably the most awaited week of the year for “One” and for those as well who are affected by endearing eyes (please do not misunderstand me, its not Me).

This blog neither talk about love preaching nor does the author is any kind of a love guru. I always intended to write articles which can help a naïve reader gain some insight about some vague fashion topics as well as some basic knowledge in the same field. I have not posted any article of late as I was stuck with office routine in this current season (In garment export field, Spring season is considered to be the busiest season of the year and it is the major determinant of that year’s business, in my case, although the elephant has gone, only the tail is now left to be shipped, hence I can breath easy and start writing again). I thought the best way to resume my writing spree is by posting some real life experiences, which, ofcourse, are not related to the content of the blog but might be a interesting read for some and might raise some eyebrows as well. So, enough of the starters, lets go to the main course cuisines now (I am purposely trying to relate it with the terms where food can mark its presence, read on to know more).

Off from the books, which I ardently took up before the start of the current season to complete few instant prerequisite in order to accomplish some long term goals, and occupied by the nitty-gritty, micro level follow-ups of the office (which are my job responsibilities), I was constantly trying to fight through the expected but not so well known storm of the busiest season that ironically I was caught by those “Eyes”. At first, it started with the “good morning greetings” and I hardly noticed the upcoming impact of that “endearing eyes” as they were two out those hundreds which I want to notice but always gave them a skip as I work on some more important life’s projects. But you cannot expect me not to talk, even if it worthless crap, while sitting next to the girl who owns those “eyes”. Hence, it all started with my over said, meaningless, dumb jokes, which do get smiles on people’s face as they are intended for the same. It was one of those splendiferous evenings when those “eyes” directed their way towards my heart, although I constantly watching their target could not help myself and fell prey to them. Believe me, a person cannot stop blaming himself when he thinks he could had stopped the catastrophe rather then being a viewer, had it been any other occasions than the one called “falling in love”. In my case, I think I am blessed not to have ignored those attacks and becoming a soft target. I fell in love for those “eyes”. I always knew the consequences of falling in love as I had the first hand experience of it and I cannot disclose the losses which I had to encounter due to it. After that I always decided to keep my emotional side packed aside and can never let those brimming fire of love control my life. But it happened again! Those eyes started controlling my days (and nights) and I was helplessly become inclined towards them. I am happy to have these feelings and never want those eyes to lose my sight but there is a catch. Those adorable disguised eyes, too perfect to lose, marked with flawless eye liner, have become the ocean of my dreams.
But, do I have the resources to posses those “eye”? I am still searching for an answer and will reveal it to you all as soon as I get one. Also, I know I have to describe about the food instances I mentioned initially.
I am very inquisitive to know the answer and will definitely share with you.

To begin with, almost every one must have heard this word in his/her life. They must know that it one of the job profiles but must not be aware of its trammel. Well, it is the only one profile which caters to each and very domain but the area of work varies. It should sound interesting and the truth of life is that it is interesting. You can find merchandisers in fashion stores, hypermarkets, production houses and the list is umpteen. I am not going to discuss and preach about the nitty gritty of the area of work but I surely want to share my thoughts about what is that skill set which is required for an incumbent to posses to embark a career as a merchandiser. Merchants, as precisely known, are the most versatile creature of this earth and are bound to posses a skill set which not every one can posses and induce. Irrespective of the technical, communication, interpersonal skills, which are the prerequisite of every profile, a merchant should ingest this one very unique skill. He should be truly Professional. I term this profile as a professional profession as in this field, a single wrong move from the merchant can lead to the downfall of the organization. The profile is devised in a way that it makes a merchant the most postulated and accountable employ. No, its not the management’s fault or the employer’s demerit, it is the nature of this profile and it will continue being the same till a revolution can change it. I am not saying that a merchant is left to make or break on its own, of course there is supervision. But, pressure surrounds him 24x7. The best a merchandiser can do to succeed is Time Management. Fashion--- An individual takes its help to create his own identity. People dismiss it by labeling it as over hyped abstract thing or just a mode to flaunt one’s luxury. But what exactly is Fashion? Is it a frivolous object which every individual should neglect or is it a much needed requirement of an hour which every one should follow? It entirely depends upon one’s perception and his way of acquiring it.
In my terms, Fashion is the only mode which helps people (and helped people) to maintain their identity and culture intact. It is much easier to depict the religion of a man by its way of dressing rather than its mannerism and knowledge. One’s clothing creates the first impression on the human being. There are cultural and political groups who dress identically just keep their heritage inviolate. They feel proud of their way of dressing and their culture. There are radicals who feel that following fashion is an offense and people should not be given excessive freedom of expression but they forget that abiding to a particular community or culture is a fashion in itself. This is due to their negligence of knowledge that makes them think in this way.
For instance, Roman clothing is an example of cultural fashion referring to stringent status dressing. It resembled signified rank, status, office, or authority- the more distinguished the wearer, the more his dress is distinctively marked. Despite different versions of dressing among the Roman (which was just the subsets of their style) they mark a presence in the world and stood out among a crowd.

GAY FASHION :Try it or Ignore it

Man is considered to be the Supreme Being among the whole animal kingdom. Why is it so? It is due to the immense and complicated brain power a human being has which rules our planet. The Brain the most complex organ and still not deciphered byus , it is a source of both possible best and worst extremes of our race. You must be wondering that why am I discussing so much about our brain how is it connected to being gay?

So here it is…… Brain is the ultimate weapon n the most powerful organ so it controls all our actions, no matter whether a person is born gay or straight the Brain has the power to change one’s orientation from the former condition to the later, now that science and technology has progressed so much which can make anything possible.

It’s the mind of an individual that decides how to do stuff…. Enough of mind talks now we will directly jump to the issue of fashion sported by homophiles… interesting.. ya it is. It’s the trend now the world’s is talking about and is spreading more faster than swine flu virus.. do you think that a person is judged by his attire?

Or believe in the old saying of “First impression is the last impression”? If you do believe than you fall in the second category out of the two.

Category 1- People who fulfill what they desire.

Category 2- People who desire a lot but cannot fulfill any of it.

Then listen now a days even men desire to wear the comfortable clothes of women but only few have dare to do so… even if they are straight the are wearing skirts which are the part of retro fashion and the most in thing guys, and these are the people who come under the 1^st category, n the 2^nd category? Well now you know who all do..RIGHT?

Anything vibrant or colorful when worn by men or women is referred to be so gay? Are u guys so old that you want to be dumped in the old color stream which can be worn at the age of 69? Come out of it this is the time and age to try vibrant n distinct colors.. and different types of clothes, even the HIP HOP star Kanye West do not hesitate in trying out gay fashion .. when you like to copy his moves and style then copy his fashion too.

Finally I would like to add a little tip.. when next time you hear someone say she/he’s so gay then you should instantly understand ..This particular guy is jealous with this fashion and he/she falls in category two… so guys do not be ashamed of doing what you like it’s a step of being bold not gay.. and remember that GAY fashion is the most in thing.. so go grab a pair of skirts and feel the air pass thru..:-)

Men’s fashion has more or less divulged on a small bell curve, but over the years Indian women has completely changed her look compared to her previous counterpart. Fifty year’s ago Indian women was exposed to only to types of attires, “the salwar kameez” and “the saree”, which were usually made of either cotton or silk. As the time leaped in together with change in fashion, women have gone through a lot in history, but now we are reaping the benefits of our forebears' blood, sweat and tears. I think, however, we modern women take many things for granted: women's lib, the equal rights amendment, and childcare. Modern Indian women is no more just a house maker, she is a perfect person at home, in office and for her kids.

Together with all the changes the two attires i.e. the saree and salwar kameez were subjected to various experimentation and birth of different variety of clothes. Subsequently as the modern Indian women started adopting various changes she adopted the men’s clothes also like pants and shirts. Blue Jeans: Can you believe there was a time when women weren't even allowed to wear these? This fashion item just continues to evolve and improve all the time. Once upon a time jeans were created just to be comfortable clothes for minors and farmers, now there are actual designers who dedicate whole fashion lines to the blue jeans. And the simplistic design of yesteryear has given way to the low-slung, the boot cut, the high-waist and the relaxed-fit jeans.

Now women is no more orthodox to experiment with her looks , the black n long hair once considered as a tradition have now turned to various styles and shades. An Indian woman has now wide range of variety to choose from like from sarees to lehngaas, from chudidaars to patialas, from jeans to shorts, from office suits to jump suits. This evolution of fashion has provided Indian women to be bold and confident, as when one has a confidence that I look good then all other things seem to be a easy job, because with self confidence high the negative consciousness of mind no longer persists.

When we talk about fashion in our country we think that it is limited only to metros and big cities but it’s not true. Even small towns or villages can have its own fashion statement, like in a college , a group of people are thought to be fashionable, similarly in a village also where branded products are not available there still are people who are fashionable. They do not rely on any branded products, for them normal turmeric and curd is enough to enhance their beauty and the local tailor instead of a designer to make them look their best.

Most of the changes in Indian women’s attire was and is brought about by media and films. If it was not there to propagate the culture of west and the new clothing styles, the percentage of change would then be limited to metros and big cities. In India there are different genera movies with different fashion styles, and whatever style appeals to an individual according to their surrounding they are called as the style icons. Today every individual woman in India wants to look their best with what ever resources they have. Fashion refers to the styles and customs prevalent at a given time. At this day and age, being fashionable is the need of the hour. People, who might not follow fashion or trends, but they are being pretentious to be fashionable, And it is not that they are being forced to do that or if they don’t, they will be left behind in the race, it is their desire which is impelling them to stand out in the crowd. To do that, they require a dispensable wealth which should be spent for keeping pace with trends. Every person does not have that privilege of basking luxury which allows them to indulge in fashion.

So the big question arises, if I can’t follow fashion, Can I influence fashion????

The answer to it is Yes. Each and every individual has the capability to influence fashion. As we know that every individual is unique, similarly every individual is fashionable in their own way. Whether you are dwelling in the high fashion streets of Delhi, or in the subtle trend setter Mumbai, in the cloudy vibes of Himachal or rotten heat of Lucknow, you have the cognition and capability to influence trend with your individuality.

Following factors play a major role in setting a fashion statement:

Body type- as already said, every individual is different so is the clothing for them. As they say, one man’s trash is other man’s treasure. If you can carry a clothing gracefully, you can make that a trend. It all in the attitude.

Etiquettes- There is a general misbelieve that only fashionable clothes can make a statement. It is the overall personality that sets the trend and not just the clothes.

Culture, technology and age- are the three eminent factors which require no description. It is axiomatic that a father’s style cannot be a son’s fashion.

Peer Pressure- your occupation and geography determines your degree of exposure which is directly proportional to your styling. The environment where you brood is paramount in contouring your fashion bud.

Personal Adornment and Hobbies- Your passion facilitates your dressing sense and your desire to stand out act as a catalyst.

Hair Style and Shoes- These are very essential contributors in making your style statement. Never compromise on these aspects.

"Fashion" describes the popular clothing style. Many fashions are popular in many cultures at any given time. Important is the idea that the course of design and fashion will change more rapidly than the culture as a whole.

Fashion show, magazines and fairs take inspiration from the populace. Bollywood and politics, both plays a significant role in driving and setting trends. Be it Bihar’s majestic Lalu’s trance or Rahul Gandhi’s rejuvenating khadi, be it is reinventing asymmetrical skirts or the grungy cinema which lurks a thick texture of rot and violence. Each and every aspect of comes from the core of the people. We are one who drives fashion and not the other way round.
