Appropriate material

- A basic white cotton shirt or colour. You can also retrieve your shirts without sleeves or straps of cotton.
- Thread for sewing needles of different sizes.

I. Small ideas, big impact style fashion 2010

I love the shirt printed. The problem is that you will not either measure. Whether you go small if you go big, you can adjust it easily.

- Cut the neck or the sleeves: The old shirt of your husband that you love can be transformed quickly into a dress-shirt. Just have to adjust it to make it more feminine.
- Bigger: Simply cut the inner and outer seams, and add a small strip of cloth (preferably the original lace or silk) and fix it between the seams.
-smaller: If it’s too long, do not look too much. The trick is to get the seams and adjust like a bra. Remove the inner and outer seams before cutting closer to the body.
You can also entertain doing transfers with embossed pictures, covers album…

Italian lingerie has been famous for generations for its fine quality of manufacturing and materials. Soft, luxurious materials, pretty colors, handmade embroidery and fine Italian lace - all of these can be found at Italian lingerie stores. Three companies have especially impressive collections at the moment - Guia la Bruna, Flora Lastriaolli, Cosabella and Intimissimi.

Guia la Bruna

A young designer, Guia comes from a lingerie manufacturing background. Her grandfather started the business in Turin in 1935 and Guia liked to wander around the many floors and corridors of the factory when she grew up. She inherited her family's artistic talent and studied in Paris at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs - which is perhaps why her lingerie designs show a strong French influence.

Guia, who has been featured on the TV series, Sex and the City, wanted to create a retro look that was modern. In an interview with Danae Shell, the editor of the lingerie website, Knickersblog, she said that she likes 'strasses, vintage laces and velvet ribbons'. (Strasses are items of jewelry made of glass that looks like diamonds, for example, rhinestones and the beautiful Swarovski crystals.) Her favorite material to work with is soft, silk muslin.

The designer's latest collection, which can be seen on her website, Guialabruna.com, features soft, shimmering materials; Victorian-style chemises; delicate floral prints; and feminine ribbon decorations.

Danae Shell called her collections 'a divine balance of classic lines and modern fabrics.'

Flora Lastraioli

This family company originated at the beginning of the nineteenth century in Florence when their great-great grandmother, Amalia, was appointed the 'official embroideress' at the court of grand-duke Leopoldo of Tuscany. The company still specializes in embroidery and also uses 'precious Swiss laces...volants, ruches, silk satins and flimsy georgettes', according to its website. It also uses the very best materials to make its lovely lingerie, including 'pure cotton muslin and voile, polyester, linen and jersey' as well as pure silk satin and georgette.

The company's new collection is divided into two sections - satin and silk, and cotton and jersey. The satin and silk section includes long transparent robes, silk and georgette nightdresses in pastel colors, and sexy wine-colored camisoles with feminine lace finishings. The cotton and jersey robes and nightdresses are just as beautiful in their pastel colors of pink, light blue, and white.

Cosabella

Cosabella means 'beautiful thing' and their lingerie certainly fits that description! Founded in 1983 by married couple, Ugo and Valeria Compello, this brand has its headquarters in Miami, Florida and is manufactured in Italy. Favored by movie stars and pop singers, Cosabella is renowned for its lovely lingerie and swimwear, which is also comfortable. It has been featured in many movies and television serials. Jennifer Garner, for example, wore the Ceylon range in the movie, Daredevil, and Nicolette Sheridan wore one of their pristine white camisoles in the popular TV series, Desperate Housewives.

The Soire collection which is made of the finest Italian tulle is probably the most popular. Cosabella's motto is 'Freedom of Color' and this collection is famous for its vibrant colors - there are over 45 different colors. The pieces include seamless hot pants, thongs, bras and camisoles, all in simple but sexy styles. Cosabella's famous Soire thong won the most comfortable thong award from In Style Magazine.

Intimissimi

Many Italian women have a secret. Instead of buying the very expensive La Perla lingerie, they prefer the reasonable prices of Intimissimi which has stores all over Italy. They have 809 shops placed around the world.

The new Intimissimi collection features pretty florals, tropical stripes and sophisticated black mesh. There is also a basic collection focused on comfort of lingerie in plain colors.

I would hardly list Versace as one of my favourite labels... but when it comes to doing sexy, Donatella quite often knows her stuff. And be not mistaken: Versace Autumn(Fall)/Winter 2009/2010 is the traditional Versace sex appeal from start to finish; perfect for driving sales in these troubled times. The only trouble is deciding what's best - the flowing, floor-length, side-split gowns; or the clinging, thigh-grazing mini-dresses. Take your pick.

As far as the Autumn (Fall)/Winter 2009-2010 collections go, Versace's is certainly not the most ground-breaking. But we give it plenty of points for its daring cuts and striking colour pallet.

Ripped Denim fashion 2010 trands

Ripped denim hasn't really been big since the grunge days of the 90s... so it may come as a surprise that it is back as a fashion trend for women in Spring-Summer 2008. Kate Moss wore ripped denim shorts in a shoot for April 2009's Vogue Paris, and then we spotted these shots of Gisele Bundchen on set with Mario Testino in a rather revealing torn denim outfit.

On the runways, Christopher Kane's Spring/Summer 2009 collection brought faded and torn skinny jeans back onto the agenda. Maison Martin Margiela's collection was also littered with shredded up denim pieces (below, right) that took ripped denim to the extreme.

From jeans to skirts to shorts, torn denim is also being embraced by certain members of the celebrity world, including Lily Allen and Lindsay Lohan, below.

So how does the 2009 take on ripped jeans differ from its past incarnations? The short answer is, it doesn't really. Well not much anyway - it's more about how it's worn than the pieces themselves. Unlike from the rebellious heavy metal torn denim of the 80s, or the loose grungy jeans of the 90s, the 08-09 ripped denim trend is all about being sexy and revealing. So will you be wearing ripped denim this year?

There are several ways to wear chunky knits this season. Easiest, of course, is wearing the look as an accessory. Topshop Unique Autumn (Fall) / Winter 2009/2010 certainly took that to be the case, sending a knit scarf down the catwalk that was so extreme it might even look out of place on a couture catwalk. Made no less eye catching by its use of an unseasonal blue, those looking for something extreme that doesn't verge on the ridiculous might instead turn to a chunky knit jumper.

The first we really noticed it was on Alexander Wang's Fall 2008 runway, in which beanies, boots and ripped tights made up a look that was rock chic meets neo-grunge. Since then, it's taken quickly to the streets - featuring in many a street-style blog across the web.

How to wear it

With conviction. Wearing a crisp, corporate skirt-suit and a pair of stockings with a little ladder or two just looks like an unfortunate run-in with a sharp fingernail. On the other hand, shredded tights with studded boots and a black mini screams fashion-forwards neo-grunge chic.

These are usually loosely-worn or wrapped around the shoulders, usually for evening wear. Traditionally they've been made from luxurious fabrics like silk, brocade, or fur. Kenzo, Jaeger, and Luella all had their own takes on the classic fur stole in their Winter 2010 collections, while Ralph Lauren had a number of other evening-wear examples.

Capes. Say the word, and images of masked superheros mid-flight are what immediately pops into many people's minds.

But capes and cloaks have existed, in one variety or another, through much of our known human history. From early Medieval mantles, to 16th century decorative shawls; from military officers capes and 1940s fur stoles, to the fringed ponchos of the 1960s. But since the humble poncho had its hippie revival, the cape in its more sophisticated forms has seen nothing of a major comeback on the streets - that is, until now. The cape is back on the agenda as one of the major 2010 fashion trends.

If patent is to be avoided (and PVC never to be considered), then what materials do I recommend? Genuine leather, of which you're safest investment choice is classic matt black or brown. If you want a more unique colour leather, your other big choices for 2009/2010 are olive greens, greys (see Rodarte and Topshop Unique) or cream/neutral tones. Suede, the other big choice for this trend, is very much the go be it in black, brown, grey, maroon, or pretty much any other colour variation. One other material you might look at incorporating into your 2010 over-the-knee boot collection is shearling or wool lining, which makes for cosy aviation-inspired looks akin to those seen at Antonio Berardi.

Classic: for a classic or elegant take on the over-the-knee boot, your best bet is to go for a slim-fitting suede pair with a round or tapered toe. Look no further than Hermes or Isabel Marant for some perfect examples of styles that will stand the test of time.

Rock: the right pair of tight black leather over-the-knee boots screams rock-chic; tough, but sexy. Check out Ohne Titel, Yigal Azrouel, Barbara Bui and Jean Paul Gaultier for some key examples.

Futurism/Cyberpunk: building upon the cyberpunk influences of recent years, some designers have thrown an element of dark futurism into the thigh-high boot mix. Particularly evident in the wound-and-bound effects of boots by Rodarte and Topshop Unique, this is a trend I expect we'll see more of in coming seasons.

Quirky: if none of the above is quite bold enough for you, and you really want to stand out this winter, there have been many other less subtle takes on this trend to hit the runway. Louis Vuitton introduced metallics and top-to-toe laces, while Hussein Chalayan's garter-topped thigh-highs are nothing short of brazen. Do be warned though; if long-term wearability is what you're after then this is probably not the road to go down.

One other thing that you should avoid: wearing thigh-high boots in place of pants, leggings or other form of leg covers as we saw on the Prada 2010 catwalk.

Where To Buy: This far out from the 2010 collections actually hitting stores it's hard to guess how many smaller boutiques are already stocking above-the-knee and thigh-high boots. So do what you should always do: seek out that 100% unique vintage pair.

When it comes to 2010 fashion trends we're facing a year of subtlety and tradition. And while many of us will be wearing classical silhouettes and subdued colours we'll all be in need of making them pop; after all, doesn't every fashioniser want to stand out from the crowd?

For women that 'stand out' look is just about to get a whole lot easier thanks to the hottest trend for shoes in 2010: thigh high boots.

Originally I tipped that this trend would enter the wardrobes of fashion forwards women in Autumn (Fall)/Winter 2010, but you've all gone ahead and worn them anyway. Yes, Summer may just be about to reach the Northern Hemisphere but seasons be damned. You want your thigh-high boots, and you want them now!

It didn't seem all that long ago that boots on women fell strictly into two domains: equestrian pursuits and 'come fuck me' boots. Thankfully society's hang ups about women in knee-high boots have long since vanished, as has a penchant for overly conservative boots. And women's boots in 2010 will be anything but conservative.

Yes, over-the-knee boots are back with a vengeance but this 2009/2010 shoe trend won't stop there. In fact, the top of your boots will be going much higher: thigh-high boots are going mainstream.

Over-the-knee and thigh-high are undoubtedly the hottest shoe trend for women in the Autumn (Fall)/Winter season, but while they scream 'sex' make sure they don't do it in the wrong way. Let's not forget, that both styles of boots are also the domain of those lovely women one sees quite frequently at night ensuring that cars don't linger for too long near street corners. So to avoid the "I wonder how much she charges" glances I recommend you also avoid two main things with any pair of over-the-knee or thigh-high boots you decide to invest in: chunky heels and a high-sheen patent finish.
