This is a drooling collection shown in Paris last week for Fall 2011 Couture, and I believe it has many hints of the fact that we are going way way back now to look at fashion of the past...say as far as 1910 and putting a very modern edge to that...

Stylish Wedding: Kate will be the most ravishing Princess bride on April 29th...

As we are getting closer to the ROYAL WEDDING, my dear friend Niki {a soon bride to be herself -Nicole Cronn-Treat} helped me by acting as wedding planner during our fun photo shoot for Associated Press. She has already planned her own wedding meticulously and with such focus....so who better than someone that is already very savvy at it. Although the photo's are all over the web, credit needs to be given where its due. Niki set a gorgeous table for the photo shoot under an hour as I was getting ready in a frenzy. I am so pleased with the photos -they turned out really beautiful. Check out her blog for handy tools to be near perfect Niki Treat Blog, she can teach you to garden and mix a cocktail better than the lovely ladies of Mad Men.

The flowers were gorgeous colorful English roses from Florentyna's in Calabasas (thank you Shirin!).

The rainbow of delicious pastries and the Princess Marzipan natural tone wedding cake from Victor Benes of Calabasas (thank you again David, you're amazing!)

The chiffon georgette dress is by my friends Golnessa Farmanara and Cindy Ayvar of Goci Design. It was a perfect dress with roses and soft flow long airy chiffon, a dress that I would choose to wear to an English Royal Wedding actually!

My hair was curled by my good friend Jessica Aikens who also taped my dress and primped me during the shoot, thank you so much!

The white hart (deer) I borrowed for the photoshoot belongs to my friend Alex (Aleksandra Ola) from Z Gallery.

US fans plan parties, teas to watch royal wedding

CHICAGO (AP) — It's two weeks until Americans set their alarm clocks for the wee hours of the morning to watch Prince William marry Kate Middleton, and already the royal fever is heating up across the Atlantic Ocean.

In the Los Angeles suburbs, a pub owner plans to stay open all night for a champagne party. In Washington, one woman plans a British tea for 20 guests. In Mississippi, college students will watch as their one-time heartthrob marries his own university sweetheart.

One fan plans to fly halfway across the country to watch the wedding with her daughter, just as they watched Princess Diana's wedding in 1981, while another is taking the day off from work to soak up the details in solitude.

"It's so romantic," says Golriz Moeini, 36, who owns The White Harte Pub in Woodland Hills, Calif., and plans to have the wedding playing on seven televisions when it starts at 2 a.m. local time. "Out of the blue there's another beautiful princess wedding that we can look forward to. This is something to be excited about."

Television specials are planned, American magazines are putting out commemorative issues and wall-to-wall U.S. news coverage of the April 29 nuptials is expected.

That Americans are interested in Middleton's marriage to Prince William, whose life has been in the public eye since he was born to Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, is obvious. But why?

The clue is Middleton's role as a commoner breaking into the unbreakable British monarchy, said Philippa Levine, co-director of the British studies program at the University of Texas in Austin.

"For Americans, that really taps into something that's deep in this culture, anybody can succeed, you just have to try hard," Levine said. "It really does, for a lot of people, bring home the possibility that it could be them."

One of those people is college senior Paige Swain, 22, of the University of Mississippi, who says she and her girlfriends will be watching as Prince William becomes unavailable.

"We've all grown up loving William and thinking we were going to be his wife," Swain said. "I have to see the wedding to make sure he's really taken."

America also is filled with Diana fans, like Laura Southard, 54, of Richmond, Va., who had a small bookcase filled with as many as three dozen Diana books.

"When she died it was just really tragic for me," Southard said. "I wore black every day for a week."

As soon as Prince William's wedding date was announced, Southard took the day off work. She said she wants to sit in the quiet of her home and watch him marry.

"He's been through a lot," she said. "And it looks to me that he's done some really smart things to learn from his mother's experience."

Wedding-watchers will see William and remember how his mother brought glamour, star quality and a breath of fresh air into the royal family, said Yvonne Yorke, royal wedding expert for the cable television station Wedding Central.

"When they look at William they see his mother," Yorke said. "A lot of people want William to find the happiness that eluded Diana."

Lauren Wilson, 28, of Washington, will wake up early to watch the wedding but plans to record it too — to show at a party for 20 women that afternoon at her home.

"I got a bunch of tiny little Union Jack button pins for everyone to wear," said Wilson, whose mother in Welsh. "Big Ben and double-decker bus cupcake toppers. I have been been brainstorming other little British things I can do — proper tea, cucumber sandwiches."

Wilson not only has an affinity for Prince William and the monarchy, she said, but also for Middleton.

"She's a regular girl who was able to snag a prince," Wilson said. "I think that's very appealing to young women."

Diane LaChapelle, 72, of Dolores, Colo., plans to fly to San Francisco and wake at 2 a.m. to watch the wedding festivities with her daughter. LaChapelle and her daughters got up early to watch Prince Charles marry Princess Diana too.

"We'll make sure we have tea and I make pretty good scones," LaChapelle said. "I'm sending my blue lace mother of the bride dress and that's what I'm going to wear."

American businesses are getting the royal fever too. The Lyric Theatre in downtown Blacksburg, Va., plans a wedding-viewing party at 5:45 a.m. with wedding cake. The Cityscape Bar in downtown Chicago plans a special royal wedding cocktail menu with drinks like "The Courtship" and "The Bitter Queen." And the New York restaurant Tea & Sympathy plans a street fair.

And just try escaping royal wedding coverage on American television.

"In the week leading up to the wedding, the networks are going to be doing extensive special reports leading up to what will be wall-to-wall coverage of all of the day's activities," said Bill Carroll, vice president and programming director of Katz Television Group. "If you're looking to see another fairy tale event, you'll have every reasonable opportunity to get a look at what's taking place."

Celebrities are the American version of royalty, but there's a difference between Prince William and Kate Middleton's relationship and those of Hollywood couples, said Marjorie Kase, 34, of Manhattan, who plans on getting up early to watch the wedding.

"There is a lack of authenticity and transparency there," Kase said adding that while we take celebrities "with a grain of salt," with this wedding, "we see something different."

The wedding will also be pure spectacle for Americans who have a history lacking kings with eight wives and queens who sit on the throne for decades.

"I like to see what Mrs. Obama is wearing, but this is different," LaChapelle said. "This really is history."

Stylish Series: Mildred Pierce for HBO

Undeniably breathtaking. I realized while watching Mildred Pierce series on HBO (a five part series) there were many moments I forgot to breath for several seconds because I was in such awe of the fashion and chic scenes combined with the music and gorgeous acting...

I have to say bravo to HBO for helping to make my long anticipation for this remake completely worthwhile. Kate Winslet captures Mildred Pierce uniquely & authentically-a role which was originated by Joan Crawford, a giant in film. Kate shows holds no dim light to Joan's honorable and admired portrayal of Mildred. In fact I believe Kate excelled in making Mildred even more touching, and a more identifiable character.

An instant classic, which is rare in a remake.

Evan Rachel Wood who plays Veda, Mildred's elegant and cold blooded daughter, is monumental in the film. You love to hate her cool beauty because she is a "snake" and heartless, yet so ravishing and electrifying that you cannot remember to breathe when she enters a scene. Each frame is delicious in color and architectural beauty allowing us to really take a peak into the 1930's decade with no subtle hint of substitution or compromise. A Depression-era Glendale CA heroine-a divorcée- Mildred picks herself up and works up to being a businesswoman for sake of fulfilling her daughters desires to make it into snobby high society. Guy Pearce who plays Monty, a blue-blood that both Mildred and Veda are completely captivated by.

Its a glimpse into the ballet world as a horror-drama and it will be vividly glorious as it centers the ballet Swan Lake -painfully truthful with a fantasy edge as direction is by none other than Daren Aronofsky (The Wrestler, Requiem For a Dream, and The Fountain). Natalie had a grueling diet and dance schedule to be fit and prepared for the role. Daren Aronofsky had first offered and discussed film role to Natalie nine years ago. Lillian Bassman (Brooklyn, New York, USA, born 1917) is one of the great 20th century fashion photographers along with Irving Penn and Richiard Avedon. She began her life not as a photographer but as a painter at the WPA until taking courses at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. In 1945, Bassman was appointed Art Director at Junior Bazaar, giving projects to photographers such as Richard Avedon, Robert Frank and Paul Himmel (her late husband) and later, in 1947, she became the Art Director at Harper’s Bazaar. Her work appeared in Harper’s Bazaar in the 1940’s and 50’s, and was nearly destroyed in the 70’s by a water leak in her studio. It was not until the 1990’s that her work experienced a revival. With this new spotlight, Bassman received the Agfa Life Time Achievement Award and the Dem Art Directors Club Award in 1996. During the same year, Bassman begins photographing again when asked to photograph the Haute Couture collection for New York Times Magazine, and the Autumn Collection for Neiman Marcus, as well as work for German Vogue. She has exhibited her work worldwide. At 93 years old, Bassman continues to live and work in New York City.

ORMOND GIGLI was born in New York City in 1925. He became famous early on during the 1950s for his photographs of theatre, celebrities, dance, exotic persons & places. His work appeared prominently on covers & editorial pages of LIFE, TIME, PARIS MATCH, SATURDAY EVENING POST, COLLIERS, and other major international publications. Gigli's groundbreaking portraits include Sophia Loren (at age 21), Anita Ekberg, Marcel Duchamp, John F. Kennedy, Halston, Gina Lollobrigida, Diana Vreeland, Giancarlo Giannini, Marlene Dietrich, Judy Garland, Sir Laurence Olivier, Alan Bates, Richard Burton, & many more. Most of these images have not been widely seen since they first appeared over four decades ago.

Gigli worked more like a film director than a photojournalist. His ability to earn his subjects' trust in his vision - - often during complicated, uncomfortable, even dangerous setups - - was as important to the photos as his technical finesse with the camera. His disarming way with his subjects is evident in the revealing anecdotes of the people and times he so vividly recalls. He was welcomed backstage on Broadway as readily as he was in the private lives of celebrities. Some of Gigli's favorite photographs were self-assigned, international award-winners, such as "Girls in the Windows" photographed in 1960.

During the 70s and 80s Gigli turned to advertising photography, while continuing his editorial work. His assignments took him around the world many times. Today, his photographs appear in prominent Galleries throughout the world.

Behnaz Sarafpour began sketching her Resort collection on a recent cross-country trip. Not surprisingly, she found herself thinking about versatile designs that could be packed (and unpacked) with ease. For day, the designer turned out a breezy off-white cropped silk blouse worn with black peg-legged trousers and flat thong sandals, as well as a lightweight tank dress in eco-friendly jersey. Eveningwear featured a pair of beautiful, weightless pleated metallic minidresses—one already seen on Alexis Bledel at last week's CFDA Awards. Those numbers look better the more crinkled they become, while a seemingly stiff feather-trimmed frock was actually cut in a lightweight washed stretch silk. The upshot was a strong, focused statement from the designer; she would do well to continue moving in this direction.

I absolutely love a designer that can be a risk-taker without going too far, too far being so risky that the garment is unwearable and just for hanging in a lonely closet after the show...

These designs by Hakaan are for a strong, sexy, artistic and courageous woman who can be edgy, intelligent and modern. Bravo to a man from Turkey to blow everyone out of the water. These are his looks during shows in London fashion week last winter. But since he is my new favorite Ready to Wear for now...I thought I should share him with you.

FIRST LOOK: HAKAAN (AND KATE MOSS!)

When the biggest model in the world sits down at your first Fashion Show... It's the beginning of London Fashion Week, the five-day marathon of shredded hems and spotless accents where stars - like Stella McCartney, John Galliano, and the late Alexander McQueen - can be born. I've just stumbled off a plane... and onto a bus... and into this place called "The Dairy," which is freezing and metal and has absolutely no cows - not even any yogurt. God, I could really use a yogurt... Instead, there's a narrow catwalk and a guy - Hakaan - whom everyone's talking about but no one actually knows. A designer from Turkey, the 37-year-old won a design competition in Istanbul, and - through a fashion game of "telephone" - got the attention ofFrench Vogue goddess Carine Roitfeld. She's here in the front row, and two seats down from her is Kate Moss. She wears a Chanel biker visor, black sweatshirt, big smile. I cannot focus on anything else. I blame this on the jet lag, but really, um, no. It's Kate Moss. Across the aisle from me. And now the clothes, a gorgon's knot of cashmere, feathers, fur, and leather that hug the bodies of major models (Anja Rubik, Lara Stone, Mariacarla Boscono) as if they're trying to win a kind of Ancient Greek wrestling match - the clothes are violently clinging to the girls, but somehow, it's really sexy and beautiful. And then it's the end, and OMG Kate Moss Twitters everywhere, and polite applause for cool clothes that fill a sweet spot between Balmain and Alexander Wang. Then Hakaan comes out and waves and finally - at least for the two seconds when the entire collection skirts the catwalk in a final, breath-sucking turn - everybody sees who he is. --FARAN KRENTCIL This story was published on February 19, 2010.

When celebrities know that the pesty paparazzi will be lurking and awaiting for an off-moment to photograph them on their day off..... as they are walking out of yoga class, or going to the gas station or Whole Foods, etc: Solution is, always perfect long and luxurious lashes to make the make-up free faces look awake, beautiful and perfectly photo ready.

I have known Emiko Yamaguchi for about four years. She has been called The Eyelash Queen for at least five years now. That nickname was given to her years ago by her friend famed celebrity make-up artist Klexius Kolby. Her technique is appreciated by celebrities, models and socialites because she is efficient. She uses the highest technology in the lash extentions business. Her quickness does not take away from her quality in work, in fact its just a bonus that she is quick since most take a ample time. One main reason to be turned off by getting lash extensions is that if you want to be done by the best, they are very few that are professional. Those few that actually specialize in just lash extensions are sacred. Emiko specializes in lashes, in fact she is an expert in lash extensions. She's one of the very best in the country. Emiko is from Japan, but resides in Los Angeles. I asked her if she misses Japan and she explained in her sweet lovable Japanese accent that she prefers living here, because Japan is too fast in comparison to Los Angeles, and that here people enjoy their lives more. She is so calm and wonderfully Zen that I think I understand what she meant by that comment since I have a few Japanese friends that have had similar thoughts. What she means is she is too relaxed to be that highly competitive about life. In reality, here she is appreciated for being an expert, no frills, she is just great at what she does, she is balanced. This was my interpretation, she is so lovely and positive that she would never say anything negative about anyone. Also she is very private, she will not tell you who she has worked on...she is not a name dropper, and to protect her privacy, I will not do so either. She likes to protect her clients privacy, so they love her more for that. She is often times called to go to their homes.

Emiko has a lot of training and I think its very important in this business. I've seen some bad lash jobs. Some estheticians, and hair stylists or even tattoo artists also have lash-extension training. But do you trust a manicurist to cut your hair? No. So I leave the lashes to an expert. Its funny that I cannot stand fake nails, hair-extensions, plastic surgery, or botox, but lashes...I LOVE.

Emiko has done the lashes of several celebrities that I know personally, and she makes herself available to go on-site and work back stage or in studio. That is how fast she is. When people can call on her during a photo-shoot -you know you can count on her.

During my appointment for my lashes, she was telling me that later in the evening she will be getting ready to go to a birthday party in Hollywood for one of her celebrity clients, and was telling me about the Kimono she is taking for the birthday girl who is also her client and friend.

I asked her who would be her favorite celebrity that she has not yet done lashes on, she mentioned Lady Gaga and Beyonce, probably because they are open to going further than most with their look and doing the risky extensions for the stage, they love to entertain and "wow" an audience, and Emiko loves to hear "wow" from her clients.

If one takes care of their lashes they will last up to 6 weeks, and with care and maintenance they can last as long as 8 weeks.

Although I have always been lucky genetically with thick, naturally lengthy lashes, I wanted exaggerated lashes- to have them insanely long and gorgeous. Lashes that flutter like a child's ! that is definitely more divine since I loathe wearing mascara! That is what Emiko gave me, so I call my lashes "couture lashes". I got what I wanted...long & luscious, thick Bambi lashes. Emiko put a few blond lashes in for me as "highlights" to make them (ironically) natural coloring. I love them...they are so beautiful. I will keep up with the maintenance, its worth it.

Designer Tamae Hirokawa offered up an eyeful this season- almost to the extent that it distracted from the clothes themselves, which included brocade skirts, quilted coats and printed silk dresses. Shoes with ornate metal heels and fur trimmings, horn-shaped hair and a curious video projection of a man in an animal skull dancing in a skirt dominated much of the presentation.

In my opinion, anyone who is taking risks in fashion right now, knowing that they may not be able to compete in the high stakes of buyers mostly going the safe direction -being that the economy does not call for indulgence....I say bravo. They are the artists. They may know that the threads may not sell or be in demand...they risk all the sweat and hard work anyway.

This show and vision by Tamae Hirokawa is fantastical. I love the entire collection... especially the shoes and hair. I definitely am one who thinks taking nature and animals into inspiration for an entire collection is absolutely brilliant and it almost always works. This particular collection I would dedicate to a mature sophisticated Manon who goes from countryside of France to New York for a visit...I know its a bit much but I had fun imagining it!

Stylish Appeal: If these photo's are not sexy...I am not sure what sexy is, Angelina Jolie flirting with this creature, extreme beauty.

Everyone that mildly knows me...also knows that I have a very serious and fatal obsession with horses since I was only a few months old, and the love came from seeing horses daily and being placed on one bareback before I could even walk. These photo's of Angelina Jolie are actually of my favorite and she has been photographed thousands of times. I do believe a horse by one's side makes anyone look incredibly stylish. Who can argue with me?

Academy Award winner Marion Cotillard — her Oscar was for La Vie en Rose(2007) — served as the 2010 César ceremony’s honorary president. Cotillard was assisted by co-presenters Gad Elmaleh and Valérie Lemercier.

Cotillard began the proceedings by saying: "This evening we share the same dream of the movies and we’re all lucky to be in a country that, for 115 years, has been making this dream possible … Dear French cinema, I now announce the beginning of the 35th César ceremony." Jacques Audiard’s A Prophetwas the evening’s big winner, with nine Césars including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Tahar Rahim), and Best Supporting Actor (also Rahim).Isabelle Adjani was the best actress for Skirt Day.

Laetitia Casta is sexy as hell in this gorgeous long sleeved ankle length sheer dress with appliqué on the body, and feathered skirt on hip. With just a black underwear, she still managed to look stunning, elegant, and sophisticated with her deep red lipstick and bouffant chignon. Now...the César, ladies and gentlemen, is the equivalent of the Oscars and our beautiful Laetitia was a presenter at the 35th annual event and this was by far my favorite dress this year.

Bravo to French women for always pushing the envelope. Her post baby body, prefect. Her brand new role as Brigitte Bardot in Vie Heroique already in European theaters. I would say after all these years, she is still the darling of Paris.

L’ENFER D’HENRI-GEORGES CLOUZOT: Other César Winners

Veteran Isabelle Adjani, 54, received the Best Actress César from the hands of Gérard Depardieu, who announced, "Ah, [the winner] is a friend!"

In Jean-Paul Lilienfeld’s Skirt Day, Adjani plays a teacher on the verge of a nervous breakdown, having to deal with obnoxious, misogynistic students in a rough, immigrant-filled Parisian neighborhood. The teacher ends up taking matters in her own hands when her students ridicule and harass her on the day she shows up wearing a skirt in class. Her solution? Point a gun at them and hold them hostage.

Now with five César wins in the Best Actress category, Adjani has broken her own record. Her previous wins were for Andrzej Zulawski’s Possession(1981), Jean Becker’s One Deadly Summer (1983), Bruno Nuytten’sCamille Claudel (1988), and Patrice Chéreau’s Queen Margot (1994). Additionally, Adjani was nominated for The Story of Adele H. (1975), Barocco(1976), and Subway (1985).

After crying uncontrollably, Adjani managed to read her (very, very) long speech, partly reproduced here:

"I believe I’ve never been as moved as I am tonight because of this César. This César crowns the most modest role of my career and the choice of a film no one had been interested in. I’m very proud that my work has been recognized in such fashion."
"Film tests our conscience and the legacy we want to leave our children. For me that’s a joy that goes beyond winning an award. … This film was a very small effort and I’d never have believed that it would have gotten this far within the industry and with the public. Everything is still possible for those films that are capable of creating a path for themselves, even if often no one wants them because they [have something important to say]."

After remembering her deceased mother, Adjani teared up again and got off the stage.

Skirt Day filmmakers had to fight to get their film screened at a few French movie houses. The Best Picture César nominee sold less than 60,000 admissions in its first two weeks, but was seen by more than 2.2 million television viewers when shown on ARTE, breaking audience records for the station.
