Twist extensions are a very popular style, but until now, it has been difficult to do yourself. Sure you can have a professional do it, if you don’t mind not being able to blink for 2 weeks, losing half of your hairline, and forking over a couple hundred dollars. So if you would like to do this style on your own, follow my simple instructions.

Step1

Purchase Twist extension hair. In this case, Kanakelon that has been texturized works best. It comes in many different packages and names, so just look for packaged hair that looks like dreadlocks.

Step2

Part off a section of hair to be twisted.

Step3

Taking a section of artificial hair, fold the artificial hair in half and wrap the center around the section of hair on your head. At this point, you will have 4 sections in your hands ready for braiding.

Step4

Combine one section of the hair on your head and one section of the extension hair so that you have 3 sections ready for braiding.

Step5

Braid the hair for 3 or 4 links.

Step6

Combine the lone strand of your hair with the lone strand extension hair, so that you have 2 sections in your hand.

Step7

Begin twisting the two remaining sections while twirling the strands between your fingers at the same time to ensure that the fake hair and real hair do not separate.

Clip on Hair Extensions method:

1. Measure the width of the weft you want to wear and cut TWO pieces to the size you want. The above weft is 8 inches wide.

2. This step is optional. But it gives you a thicker weft. Sew the two wefts together. This will give you one weft but it will be twice as thick.

3. Using an ordinary needle and cotton, sew the clips onto the weft. The rubber strip on the clip should be touching the hair.

4. The clips should be sewn on the weft about every 3 inches. Sew each side of the clip securely.

5. Section the hair as required.

6. Clip the extensions into your own hair.

Corn-row Extensions are simply wefts of hair/lines of hair that are sewn/weaved onto a tiny braid that is made from your own hair. This braid is called a corn-row or track. The braids run horizontally around the back of your head underneath your hairline so you can't see them. The crown area of your own hair covers the top braid making the extensions undetectable.

Once the braids are done, the wefts are sewn onto them and then your own crown area hair is blended with and combed over the extensions. From now on you have to think of the extensions as your hair.

If you have higlighted hair or with more than two colours going through their hair. You cannot mix hair with the cornrow system. The hair wefts that are sewn onto the braid come in block colour. The Extend magic system is ideal for mixing hair colour.

A super-easy, homemade hair conditioner is a cinch to make. And it doesn't matter the type or condition of hair, it's effective regardless.

Recipe:

a little Extra Virgin Olive Oil
a matching amount of honey
splash of apple cider vinegar, more for fine hair types

Mix in a bowl. Apply to just washed hair. Wrap in a warm towel over plastic cap. Wash out when cooled with shampoo and warm water.

That's it. The honey acts as a natural humectant, which means it draws moisture into the hair strands. It also eliminates the look of split ends, essentially gluing them together! 1. The hair is washed by clarifying shampoo;
2. The hair is tightly wound around a curler or a rod;
3. The perm lotion is applied to the hair;
4. After a while the perm lotion is thoroughly rinsed;
5. A neutralising lotion is applied;
6. A failure to rinse and neutralise properly can lead to many problems.
7. The hair should not be washed for two to three days.
8. Cut your hair after you perm.
9. If your perm does not take you should wait a while before getting a new one.
10. Because permed hair can be dry, avoid over-use of irons, hot combs, and high-speed blow dryers.
11. Use hair care and styling products that are specifically recommended for permed hair.
12. Wait one week to color your permed hair.
13. If the curls have dropped, use curl boosters and cut down on washings.
14. Avoid bleaching permed hair.

Very fine hair is the worst hair to perm. It needs the minimum amount of perming solution and processing time.

Very straight, coarse hair is often resistant to perms.

Try to avoid daily washing. The sebaceous glands are overstimulated, secreting more grease onto the hair. This creates a vicious circle where the more you wash is the greasier it becomes.

Another problem with regular washing is that although the roots are greasy the rest of your hair is stripped of oil and the ends become dry and brittle. Use a mild ph-balanced shampoo and wash hair without rubbing the scalp too much. Only apply conditioner to the mid and ends rather than at the roots.

Watch your diet. Oily and fatty foods can contribute to greasy skin and scalp. Best of all is to use those days when you're at home to give your hair a rest from
daily washing. Try using a children's shampoo as these are often mild enough for greasy hair.

Dry, coarse and brittle hair needs to be nourished from within; a conditioner that just rinses out won't do the job. Use an intensive moisturising shampoo which will cleanse without excessive rubbing (which will damage the hair more) and follow with a hot oil conditioner.
