When viewing the Adam Kimmel website, I left rather confused. It would have been way more convenient if he had an "about" page or a "profile" page to tell us a bit about himself and his collections. Anyway, my sites are not near perfect either... Maybe he will make it easier to learn about his fashion in the near future. For now, we can talk about him and his collection in the comment area below...

After reviewing a few sites on the net, I have learned the following. Adam Kimmel is a New York based menswear designer that dropped out of his architecture studies in 2002 and started his own fashion brand that same year. He designs fashionable but masculine, American classics with some roughness but usually in materials as soft as possible. Comfy cashmere sweaters, slouchy jackets and unconstructed blazers are almost always in the collection, though presented in different shades for every season.

Nordstrom and Trunk Club Moving Forward

Nordstrom and Trunk Club announced plans to close the Trunk Club fulfillment center located on Goose Island in Chicago, Illinois. With the closure, Trunk Club will integrate its operations into the Nordstrom network of fulfillment and distribution centers, located across the United States. The Goose Island facility will transition to its close by August 2017.

"As Trunk Club has grown significantly over the past several years, we're continuing to find opportunities to support that growth while also giving our customers the best experience possible," said Brian Spaly, chief executive officer of Trunk Club. "While our space at Goose Island has served us well, we realize we're going to outgrow it soon. We decided this was the right time to integrate Trunk Club orders into the Nordstrom fulfillment network, which will allow us to share more of their inventory and better serve our customers with a wider mix of merchandise."

The Goose Island closure will impact about 250 full- and part-time employees. Nordstrom will work to help employees interested in staying with the company find roles at the Trunk Club Chicago clubhouse or at nearby Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack stores.

"It will take us some time to transition our operations and ensure we're taking care of impacted employees, so we wanted to let our people know as soon as we could," said Spaly. "We still have a lot of customers to serve here, and we'll be working with each of our employees over the coming months to share more details about our staffing changes and to discuss their individual opportunities."

Nordstrom has three fulfillment centers, located in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania; San Bernardino, California; and in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Cedar Rapids facility currently fulfills all orders for Trunk Club for Women, which launched last fall. Integrating the rest of the Trunk Club business into the Nordstrom network will begin at the end of 2016.

Acquired by Nordstrom in 2014, Trunk Club is headquartered in downtown Chicago and serves customers both online and through its five clubhouses in Chicago, Dallas, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and New York. Nordstrom has four Chicago-area Nordstrom stores (Michigan Avenue, Old Orchard Center, Oakbrook Center and Woodfield Shopping Center) and 10 nearby Nordstrom Rack stores (South Loop, The Shops at State and Washington, Chicago Avenue, Lincoln Park, Shops at Orchard Place, Shops at Oak Brook Place, Orland Park Place, Northbrook, Woodfield and Springbrook Prairie Pavilion). The company will be opening two Nordstrom Rack stores this fall at Fashion Outlets of Chicago (opening September 30, 2016) and Algonquin Commons (opening October 27, 2016), as well as a Last Chance clearance store in Yorktown Center (opening October 20, 2016).

Set to hit Nordstrom stores and nordstrom.com on February 8th, 2016, the 'Olivia Palermo + Chelsea28' collection features 32 styles of separates with roots in American sportswear staples, and dresses with a polished and feminine appeal.

Does the world need another fashion week?

A few years ago, we came up with the concept of developing what was to be called the Fashionista Fashion Week. The idea was to create a week long event that would be created by fashion designers for fashion designers. A low cost way for emerging designers to showcase their talents to the world. Unfortunately, we did not have the time to develop the event.

Today, Apparel Search decided that it might be a good time to start thinking about the possibility of creating a new fashion week in Las Vegas. Apparel Search owns the domain name VegasFashionWeek.com which would be a wonderful building block to launch such a venture.

Here is the problem... It takes a great deal of time and resources to cultivate a worthy event. Frankly, we most likely do not have the proper time or resources to pull off such a venture. So, even if the world does need or want a new Las Vegas fashion event, would we be able to properly create such an event on our own? The answer, is "probably not". Well, we probably could not handle this on our own. However, with help from an experienced fashion event organizer, it could have potential success.

Initiatives in Art & Culture (IAC) announced the agenda for its roster of presenters at its 16^th Annual Fashion Conference, entitled “Visionary: Inspiration, Incubation, and Realization,” taking place November 14 & 15, 2014. The Thursday, November 13, evening reception that launches this event, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at TrimLab, a cooperative high-tech product development center and showroom in the heart of the fashion district created by a group of world-class fastener and trim companies. The event also will feature a reception and private preview screening, beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, November 14, of “Make it in America: Empowering Global Fashion,” a film directed by James Belzer; Executive Producer, Loews Hotels & Resorts, with introductory remarks by Eric Johnson, director, fashion/retail, New York City Economic Development Corporation’s Center for Economic Transformation.
