What Lucy Wore: Lindybop Ophelia dress from Nyla Rose

Hi Launderette's hope you're all well!

I've been pretty busy being a grown up so I've not been blogging as much recently.

But I'm still happy to pick it up here and there,

and who knows, I might get right into it again!

Anyway the purpose of todays post is,

I was lucky enough to be sent a gorgeous vintage style dress from Nyla Rose

I don't know if you've heard of them, but they stock a whole range of cute vintage style
clothing, accessories and home ware.

I actually first came across them on facebook (they run amazing competitions FYI)

I was sent this fabulous Red Ophelia Dress, by Lindy Bop (RRP £45)

Unfortunately when it arrived it was too big for me,

but I knew of the perfect girl for the modelling job......

Introducing the lovely Lucy,
the amazing baking beauty from Delicate Bakes ltd in Great Malvern!

I'm a 12 to 14 on top, so ordered the 14 as it looked quite fitted.

It was pretty baggy and unflattering on me, the 12 would have been fine.

Lucy here is a 14-16 on top and the 14 (as you can see!)

fits her perfectly,and hugs in all the right places :)

So if you are in doubt about size, go down.

Its a great midi length, the fabric is lovely quality and has a nice amount of weight and stretch.

It would be great to wear to any posh occasion, such as a ball, prom or wedding.

Its such a flattering shape, nips in at the waist, and skims over the hips and bum!

The colour is gorgeous, but this dress comes in a whole host of prints and hues.

The dress also has great movement!

We put a white tulle underskirt under ours to puff it out a tiny bit,

and if you sway or dance it really looks amazing.

Overall both me and Lucy were really impressed with both the dress and the service from Nyla Rose

I'd definitely buy from them myself, and cant recommend them highly enough.

Milly Reviews: Iphone Case with Three Mobile

I don't know about you guys, but since I bought my iphone 5 almost 2 years ago I've only ever had the one case that I bought when the phone was new. So when Three Mobile contacted me asking if I wanted to review a phone case I was really pleased!

I picked this cute Orla Kiely Optic Stem Iphone 5 Case in cream, black and orange.
Its really thick and secure and feels very good quality.

It really feels like it protects your phone, and is very shock absorbing.

In the 3 weeks I've had this case I have to admit I've dropped my phone twice from a height (by accident) and its been absolutely fine!

Also as there is a raised rim around the front edge of the phone, it means if the phone is dropped then the screen will not touch the surface it lands on. They've thought of everything!

It has a large cutout for the camera lense and flash, and overall feels really modern, exactly as you'd expect from the interior/print designer.

All ports and buttons are thought about down to the last detail.

I just love the subtle flash of orange too!

It matches my orange Gelish which makes me very happy :)

Three have a huge range of iphone 5 and 5s accessories that are definitely worth checking out.

Festival Look on a Budget - with House of Fraser

Hi Guys,

What weather we're having here in the UK eh.

I was set a challenge by House of Fraser, to pick some items from their website to create a festival look.

Easy peasy, I thought..... there was a catch. It was on a budget!!

I don't know about you but I'd never thought of HoF as being somewhere I could shop and get a bargain.

It was all up market, lovely things that mostly I'd have to save up for.

How wrong was I!

They actually stock a wide range of brands, many with items in a purse friendly price bracket.

also their sale section is brilliant, so many things that won't break the bank :)

This is my look, I chose:

Floral Digi Print Maxi Dress - Label Lab £20.50 reduced from £69.00

This dress is gorgeous, such a nice print, easy to wear and versatile for the hot weather.
I got a 14, and could have gotten away with a 12

so if in doubt size down. Also I'm 5.ft 2 and its a wee bit long but most maxi dresses are.

Pink and Silver Leaf Friendship Bracelet - White Stuff £6.00 reduced from £10
I accessorized with this cute adjustable bracelet.

It looks more like a feather to me but I love it whatever it is!

Oversized Half Metal Sunglasses - Warehouse £5.00 (can't find their original price but I'm guessing £15+)
These (and most of the stuff I got actually) are now out of stock.
I totally understand why, because these are a complete bargain!

Daisy Trim Trilby Hat - Jane Norman £10 reduced from £16

I topped off my summer look with this straw trilby,

I've been looking for a sun hate for ages and this was just the ticket!

Total Outfit Cost - £41.50

Including - Dress - Sunglasses - Bracelet - Hat

You can't say fairer than that :)

Just add a pair of loafers like I have here, or a pair of plain flip flops and you're good to go!

One last thing,

Asda Summer Outfit Challenge - Tribal Jumpsuit

June already eh!

Hope you've all been enjoying the small amount of sunshine we've had recently!

I was given a summer outfit challenge by the lovely people at Asda,

and here is what I came up with as my summer style!

From the george at asda section I chose this versatile mid wash cropped denim jacket,

which was the bargain price of £18, for that amount you can't go wrong!

I got my normal size 14 and it fitted great.

My second item (an the main focus of my outfit) is this awesome ikat print jumpsuit,

which was only £14, can you believe it!

I totally adore it, very on trend, so easy to wear and looks great.

I'm 5ft 2 and a size 14 and this fitted me well.

Not too long which I was a little worried about.

There is a clever tie over the shoulders at the back,

making it suitable for both tall and short girls,

the legs would just be more cropped on someone taller.

It looks way more expensive than it is, and the fabric is good quality, not see through at all.

I added my tatty devine trapeze couple necklace

and these cute cat flat pumps from Zara kids (last year)
very charlotte olympia no?

Asdas current clothing range is really spot on for creating your own summer style
and would be great for getting your holiday wardrobe sorted!

Fun in the Sun with Young Ted!!

I was kindly given one of their classic logo tees to review in white

I chose a size XL - being a size 14 and not liking things too tight and it was a perfect fit!

Super soft and comfy and really well printed :)

Whether your taken or single, its a great excuse to get dressed up :)

You may or may not know I've been with my boyfriend Neil for just over 9 years,

and we're not really into going out, so we've had a quiet night in and it's been lovely.

I was lucky enough to be sent this gorgeous outfit to wear by George at Asda

I chose this gorgeous knitted dress

It's called the Graduate Fashion Week Knitted Midi Dress and is £18

it's currently sold out online, but you may be able to find it instore.

and it's very slimming and flattering.

I got my usual size 14, but actually could have sized down to a 12.

it goes really well, with the shapes theme and it's a good length for the neckline

What Milly Wore: Singing in the rain!

The weather in the U.K at the moment is quite frankly, rubbish (that's the censored version!)

So when I was sent these Spats Wellies to review they came at just the right time.

As you can see I've given them a thorough test out and they passed with flying colours.

Perfect for wearing with a nice outfit on a rainy day, or to a festival.

they are completely waterproof, have amazing vintage styling and are practical to boot!

I wore my Classic Matte Black and Antique While Spats wellington ankle boots with:

This bag is perfect for bad weather,

I don't have to worry about it getting marked or soggy!

The wellies are rubber, they do up with three poppers, and feel secure on the foot.

With them being ankle length they are a great alternative to calf length wellies

if you struggle to fit them round your calves like me!

I'm a size 4.5 (literally half my shoes are a 4 the other half a 5)

I went for a size 4, and I'm really glad I did, they fit a little on the large size

so if in doubt size up.

Frugal February Challenge!

Hi guys,

hope you've all had a lovely start to 2014!

If you're anything like me then you'll be feeling the pinch,

although payday has just arrived, my bank account is still reeling from Christmas spending and January sales.

So for the second year running I'm doing

Frugal February!!!

For the month of February I will not spend ANY money on anything except essentials.

So that means:

No Clothing,

No Make-Up

No Jewellery

No Shoes

No Bags

Even if there is a super mega once in a lifetime sale. :/

I'm literally only allowed to spend money on bus tickets, driving lessons & food

(but nothing extravagant on the food front, no takeaways unless someone else is paying!)

I'm going to try to avoid toiletries etc too

(unless I run out of deodorant or something, I don't want to be a stinker!)

Last year I managed it, and saved an entire months worth of wages

unfortunately I spent all the money I'd saved by splurging in march. Oops.

So this year whatever I save will be moved to my savings account and go towards a car!

Will you be partaking?

Don't worry if you've not started yet, even if its half way through the month.

Its still a great challenge to set yourself any month of the year.

The Christmas Jumper Challenge Day 12: Tacky Vintage Christmas

So Christmas is over!

Hope you all had a lovely one, I'm not back at work just yet

so although I'm full of cold I'm grateful for the time off :)

So for my final Christmas outfit I wore:

Black leggings fom Matalan

Red & While Spotty/Polka-Dot Bodycon Dress from Topshop (sale, summer)

Check Bobble Beanie Hat from Miss Selfridge (sale a week or two ago)

I saved the best jumper till last!

This one was a present from my sister last Christmas

I challenged her to find me the tackiest, cheesiest xmas jumper

and she succeeded!

It's vintage and features a fully embellished applique Christmas house scene

complete with furry dog and teddy bear!

I used my Black Yasmin Rising Orb Tote by Vivienne Westwood

I thought the colours went really well.

This is one of my favourite bags, It was from My Wardrobe a couple of years ago,

and I'm dying to get my mitts on it in red.

Finally it was super cold so I finished with my trusty pale gold shimmer Uggs

that were from ASOS many moons ago.

And thats it,

I didn't get a chance to post the last couple of jumper pictures before Christmas

For this blue and grey themed outfit

I took some Cobalt Blue Skinny Jeans from River Island

and added this AHMAHZING jumper

By Sister for Sibling at Topshop a couple of years ago

Its got this fairisle skull pattern made from sequins

and its festive and spooky at the same time, what is not to love!

For my bag, I used this glitter/galaxy print bag by Peter Pilotto for Kipling

I love Kiplings collaboration bags, really practical but look great too.

To finish I added my New Balance 410 trainers in Grey

The Christmas Jumper Challenge Day 10: Little Drummer Girl

It's nearly Christmas, I'm well excited!!!

Here is day 10 of my Christmas jumper challenge

I started with some basic primark leggings

and a jersey denim skater skirt from new look that was £5 in the sale a few months ago

The jumper I chose to wear was this cute Topshop sweater.

Its got a quirky drum motif on the front which I love, I got it in the sale about a year ago.

Its a bit more fitted and thinner than most jumpers I've been wearing

which made a nice change :)

I added my Tatty Devine Red Spot Collar necklace that I got in a swap last year.

The bag I used was this lovely vintage Coach brown leather bag.

It's great for the weekends but too small for work!

Finally I wore these lace up leather boots from Jones Bootmaker

I got them when I worked there last year

They are so comfy, and have that vintage feel

only two more jumpers to go!!

The Christmas Jumper Challenge Day 9: Punky Christmas

Here is another of my Christmas ensembles!

I wore some tartan/plaid treggings by Topshop that I got last year in the sale

very comfy and easy to wear, but do give and feel loose by the end of the day!

I like the punk feel they have, which inspired the rest of my choices for the outfit.

I love the 80's feel, with all the embroidery and embellishments

Bag wise I went with my multi glitter candy bag by Furla,

One of my favourite bags that I own.

It feels very festive with all the sparkle.

Finally I finished it off with these 'Alpine' boots by Acne

I got the from Shoeaholics last year, for around £100 which was a bargain

considering their original full price of £570

They are a dream to wear, shearling lined,

amazing quality and they didn't even need breaking in!

Great for that stompy punk military look.

Hi all,

This is the outfit that I wore on Thursday

I wore M&S Corduroy leggings in Navy,

With a Black Topshop Bodycon Vest Dress

and a geometric/aztec print snood from the mens section at River Island

and of course this Statement Christmas jumper from River Island,

I got it in the sale last week for £20

I love the geometric 'pixel' style pattern.

I got a Medium, its more than big enough, quite oversized.

I picked out the bright colours of the jumper

with this Green leather biker jacket bag by Angel Jackson

I got it for my birthday a couple of years ago

It was a bit of an investment, but such good quality and well worth it.

It was rainy and cold so I wore my Brown Hiking/Walking boots by Manas

italian leather, yet very practical and comfy!

Day 7 and I was loving the purple!

I was feeling a little more casual, and it was raining.

So I put my hair up and wore minimal make-up

I started with simple skinny jeggings from matalan.

Then added this, my final jumper from British Christmas Jumpers!

This is the Christmas in London Edition 2 jumper

Once again I got a L, which fits me great.

It was £30 in the sale

Honestly all their designs are gorgeous I highly recommend them.

Awesome Vintage 90's Merry Christmas Sweatshirt/Jumper

It was around £16 which I think is pretty reasonable.

It's from 1996 (it says so in the little copyright line)

Very comfy, and you'll never spot somebody in the same one!

I also wore my Office Fawcett knee boots in burgundy

I've had these a few years and had the reheeled a couple of times

my go to knee length boots!

Very pixie/elf like.

in burgindy / cherry red leather.

This was £140 last year, but really worth the investment!

I saw it and just couldn't resist, and it's very comfy too.

It was in the sale a week or two ago from Miss Selfridge.

I love the bright pink colour, and the slogan 'Dear Santa I Want It All'

It's actually written across the front in tiny beads glued on.

I paired it with my Barbie for Pauls Boutique bag

as the colours went so perfectly.

I got this a couple of years ago from Selfridges

Finally I wore my black Office suede faux fur pixie boots

Which are very comfy and warm!

Yesterday was a bit of a disaster, I had to go home from work with the worst tooth ache!

So I skipped piccys in the end, I'll fit in an extra jumper at the weekend though, don't you worry.

The Christmas Jumper Challenge Day 1: Polar Bear in Space!

Hi Guys,

Today's post marks the start of my Christmas Jumper challenge!

I will be wearing a novely xmas sweater / jumper every weekday until christmas

and blogging it for your pleasure!

The plan is for the jumpers to get christmassier as the days go on

So today I started with this navy blue polar bear knitted jumper.

The jumper is from Urban Outfitters last year and is by a brand called Cooperative
I think I got it in the January sale last year for around £20

I Paired my jumper with a pair of topshop skinny jeans,
and these new Galaxy / space print Vans Chukka Boots from Office.
I bought them a week or two ago and they were half price at around £30

Lastly I stuck with the cosmic theme my adding this very practical galaxy print bag
by Peter Pilotto for Kipling from A/W 2010

Baby it's cold outside!

Hi all,

It's blimmin freezing recently isn't it!

Lucky for me I was kindly sent this awesome onesie by the people at OnePiece :)

However I really didn't want it to be tight as I am not a skinny minnie,

So it is a bit long, but I'd rather that than not be able to fit round my bum.

Out of interest my stocky normally M-L 6ft boyfriend tried it on and it was the perfect length

but a tiny bit tight so he would probably get a large.

Lust After: DD+ Bras from Debenhams

Considering I have a fashion blog,

why is it I've never written about underwear, or 'lingerie' if you want to be posh?

Well I will admit I'm a bit of a prude, a lot of over sharing goes on on the internet

and sometimes I stop myself publishing pieces because once it's on the internet,

it's kind of permanent, and you never know who is reading.

Well today is the day I throw caution to the wind and talk about Bras!!

Boobs, breasts, bosoms, we've all got them (well if you're female that is)

and bras are a part of fashion that we wear every single day (well I do anyway).

I'm a size 14, so a pretty curvy girl, and I suppose you could say I'm *ahem* kind of.....busty

and I find bra shopping one of the most frustrating tasks. Finding somewhere that even goes up to my size is far harder than it should be.

Fortunately help is at hand because I've found Debenhams has a great range of not only bras in general,

but actually quite a large DD+ section.

I hate being offered a selection of grannified off white, thick strapped monstrosities.

So I was pleasantly surprised to find quite a few girly, pretty, colourful options, that I would definitely wear.

On top of this Debenhams also often have offers or discount codes that are well worth taking advantage of.

Here are my top 6 DD+ Bras:

1: Wonderbra Ultimate Strapless Lace Up to a G-Cup Bra RRP: £36.00
I have never had much luck with strapless bras but I think this one is well worth a shot.
It claims to stay put (and the reviews agree) and going up to a G cup it should fit most.

2: Freya Purple 'Just Flew In' underwired longline bra RRP: £35.00
Ive always wanted a longline bra, but every time I see one it doesn't go up to my size.
This one goes up to a G and the bird print is just too cute.

3: Gossard Pink 'Colour Clash' half padded bra RRP: £29.00
I'm a fan of neon and colour clashing, so although it's not the most practical of bra colours
I still think this one is fab. Maybe not under a white shirt though.

4: Gorgeous Debenhams Peach DD-H cup spotted longline bra RRP: £26.50
Another long line bra that I'd like to try it also has quite a good size range.

5: Freya Hello Dolly Fiesta balcony bra RRP: £32.00
This has to be my favourite of the bunch (in fact it's in my basket right now)
With it's super cute Russian doll print I can't resist it!
It has 2 size ranges D-G and GG-K the best size selection of the lot.

6: Gorgeous Debenhams Natural floral satin D-G cup balcony bra RRP: £24.50
This is probably the most sensible bra I've chosen, but it still looks so pretty.
The silky finish and subtle pattern really make it look expensive.

So that's my lust list,

All of these bras are currently discounted (so less than the RRP, so go look asap)
If you are in the market for some new lingerie, whether you are DD+ or not
Debenhams lingerie is really worth a go :)

What Milly Wore: Joules Marilyn Dress

Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine,

I have to admit I'm not the worlds greatest fan of the heat, but it's alright I suppose!

Here is an outfit I wore to work earlier in the week.

I was kindly sent this dress to review by Joules Online,

as soon as I saw it I knew it was perfect for work, picnics, summer bbqs, even weddings!

The perfect combination of smart/casual/comfy.

The green/floral combination is gorgeous.

It's called the Marilyn Dress, in the colour Apple, & I'm wearing a size 14

Size wise it's pretty spot on, quite a bit of stretch which is great.

If anything its ever so slightly generous so if you are between sizes

or smaller on the bust then maybe size down.

It's really wearable, very comfy and no word of a lie I got 5 compliments on it throughout the day!

The quality is great, the material is not thin or flimsy,

and my favourite thing?

The fact that the wrap around top does not gape!

Being quite busty I find it very difficult to find dresses I don't fall out of,

this was cut perfectly to avoid any mishaps.

I wore my dress with

Gold Leather Topshop Ballet Pumps (ancient, in my shoedrobe forever)

RayBan Wayfarer Sunglasses (my go to this summer)

Tatty Devine Small Gold Parakeet Necklace

& My Rose Gold Leather Cambridge Satchel Company Satchel

which I got in their clearance section a couple of months ago.

Overall I'm really impressed with the dress,

Joules is a brand I've always liked the look of but never purchased from

Their prices are a little on the high side but the quality is great,

so if your looking for a special occasion or you can grab something in the sale then even better.

They've got plenty of summer dress designs that I will definitely be checking out!

Topshop Sale April 2013: What Milly Bought!

Why hello there!

The topshop sale launched last week

and I picked up quite a few bits that I thought I would share with you!

Topshop Embroidered Floral Sweat £32

The first thing I bought (full price) is this gorgeous sweatshirt.

It's super comfy and reminds me of quite a few wildfox couture jumpers!

Comic Pop Art Sweat £18 (reduced from £30)
I think this print is so fun, great for a lazy weekend.
I just wish one of them said bazzinga!

Spray effect slip £10 (reduced from £18)
I thought this would be good for summer,
may be over a white t-shirt with a tan belt and sandals?

Moto Stud Western Denim Shirt £15 (reduced from £38)
At over 50% off I thought this shirt was a bargain.
I wear my blue denim shirt quite often so this should be a good addition to my wardrobe

Burgundy Speckle roll sleeve mini dress £12 (reduced from £26)
Again I thought this would be a great summer staple
and could be worn in many different ways

Red and Navy sweater dress £15 (reduced from £30)
I've already worn this and it's great!
I wouldn't quite call it a sweater dress though,
it's not particularly thick.
I do love the pockets though, they were a great addition.

Polkadot Bodycon Dress in Red & Green both £15 (reduced from £29)
I love these dresses
The print is great, cant wait to style them all retro!
They do fit small though I had to size up.

Oxblood full skater skirt £20 (reduced from £38)
I've been looking for a leather look skirt for ages and this fits the bill!
It's not the most flattering thing in the world, as it is pretty full
but I like it anyway.

Tall flecked midi dress purple £18 (reduced from £29)
Obviously I am not tall,
but if I like the look of something I ignore the size, or whether it's tall, petite, or for men!
and just see if something looks right on me,
and this does!

Tall wings burn out sweat £15 (reduced from £28)
Again it's tall but it doesn't look any different tbh.
Love the wing/feather print, and it's nice and lightweight too.

Maveriq Heavy Studded Slippers Grey £18 (reduced from £32)
I loved the vectra pumps I've had for a good while,
and I'm just as impressed with the maveriq style.
I own them in black with silver, khaki with rose gold
and now this taupe colour with rose gold.
They do not look grey as they are names, or as pink as in the pic though!

Shapewear skirt £7 (reduced from £14)
I'm not hugely into shapewear,
however I bought this skirt to try because of the price
and first impressions are it's brilliant!
It's not so tight that I cant breathe,
and it gives a nice silhouette.
It's also pretty high waisted which I prefer

Shapewear Shorts £5 (reduced from £12)
These are pretty much the same as the skirt.
I often wear cycling shorts under summer dresses
so these should be pretty useful!

New Arrival: Spring Update

I'm trying to save for a car,

but I keep buying pretty things instead!

Here are some of the thing I've bought over the last few weeks :)

Rainbow Crystal Gem 'Joey' Glass Necklace £25 Kurt Geiger (Reduced from £50)

I love this necklace, it arrived today but it had a £10 sticker on it,

I phoned to complain and they've agreed to refund me the difference.

Lulu Guinness for Uniqlo T-shirts £12.90 each

These tees are great, I've always loved Lulu Guinness with her iconic lip print

but her main line is way out of my price range.

They're pretty cheap and will go with a lot, I especially love the peter pan collar.

Kurt Geiger Swim/Swimming studded black biker boots from Shoeaholics

I ordered Swimming (the ones with the extra studds on the toes) for £99 (reduced from £260)

and received Swim (the ones without the studs on the toe) which is worth £59 (reduced from £240)

Needless to say I was a bit miffed, but once again they will be refunding the difference!

I do love them though, great to toughen up a floral dress.

Fox Knitted Jersey Jumper - The Orphans Arms £65

I bought a follow the white rabbit jumper from T.O.A before christmas

and I've lived in it, so comfy, warm and such cute designs.

So when I saw this fox print one I just had to get it!

Celia Birtwell for Uniqlo dresses £19.90 (reduced from £29.90) trousers £14.90

I really like the prints Celia Birtwell creates.I loved her topshop collab a few years back too.

I bought the dress in 3 colours, it'll be great for summer.

The skinny jeggings are amazing and they fit so well I'm tempted to buy another pair.or two!
