There are many sides to Christian Blanchard. You could be fooled into thinking that this photographer, recently named by Capture Magazine as one of Australia’s top ten, is typified merely by his success. Yet for all of his accomplishments, Christian Blanchard is much more than just a burgeoning photographer.

Born in Perth, cultivated in Melbourne, and now roaming the world, Christian has shot international campaigns for clients such as Mimco - Australia, NZ and UK's leading high-end accessories company, boutique beer brand Amstel, global cult denim label Nobody and British telecommunications company 3 Mobile plus national campaigns for L'Oreal, Redken, Ford and Puma. With a penchant for celebrity portraiture, he commands the space around him, never yielding to ego, and always striving to impress.

Nonetheless, this should not distract us from the fact that he is still that humble guy who speeds along the streets of Melbourne on his white spacy scooter. A smirk upon his face as he glides through the frustrated masses stuck in traffic.

In any attempt to describe Christian, people easily throw around words such as professional, chivalrous, and the consummate perfectionist. However these words should never be allowed to overshadow other accurate adjectives such as visceral or debaucherous or downright cheeky.

Christian’s famed Nobody was Thirsty campaign won him international acclaim. Throwing dirty water on celebrities for a worthy cause is indicative of Blanchard’s attitude toward his subjects. By forcing them out of their comfort zone and shattering pre-existing defence mechanisms, he lures them to a place in which raw emotion and brutal honesty reign free. The concept itself epitomised his style brilliantly – confrontational yet intimate; aggressive but controlled. Evoking truth through provocation is what Christian’s lens captures best.

However, all of this talk of conceptual and professional methodology belies a more telling truth: pouring dirty water on celebrities is also a great way to have fun.

Many who work with Christian bear witness to the authority with which he rules his dominion. Wickedly creative with both concepts and practicality alike, he measures success only by the strength of his most recent work. Such high self-demands continue to drive this photographer toward new and exciting projects.

I am Darien Revel, the force behind the imagery design of Aesthetic Alchemy. My specialty lies in creating art photography for the fashion and fine portraiture markets.

I take pride in composing imagery that combines vibrant originality with a meticulous and sophisticated eye for detail. I find inspiration in history that never was, futures that never will be, and fey warpings of the present. My artistic process follows in the theatre tradition of building a set, wardrobe, makeup, prop design, and lighting setups all to complement a specific concept. With this method, I am able to fashion images of a rare richness. I strive to CREATE, not simply shoot, fine photographs.

Daria Werbowy was born in Krakow, Poland in 1983 and emigrated to Toronto, Canada with her family at the age of 3. Daria signed with the Toronto modeling agency Susan J. Model & Talent Management at the age of 14. It wasn't until she signed with IMG that she began to gain attention from the fashion industry. During her first season she was quickly named the face of Prada and was also featured on the covers of W, Italian Vogue, V. One of her most memorable shoots was her 2004 American Vogue shoot with iconic photographer Helmut Newton, his last before his untimely end from a car accident. Steven Meisel who booked her for her first 2 Vogue Italia covers and for the Prada campaign is another key photographer in her life. She currently holds the record for opening and closing the most shows in one season. Her clients have included such brands as Prada, Missoni, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Lancome, David Yurman, Dior, Valentino, Hermès, and Roberto Cavalli, and she has appeared on magazine covers and editorials worldwide. In 2004, Daria signed a coveted contract with Lancome (estimated to be about a $1million a year) and is in her 5th year with the company (2009).

Mario Testino is a Peruvian fashion photographer.
The eldest of seven children born to an Italian father and an Irish mother, Testino attended at the Universidad del Pacifico, the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru and the University of San Diego. In 1976, Testino moved permanently to London. He has shot for Vogue, V, Gucci, and Vanity Fair. Celebrity subjects have most famously included Diana, Princess of Wales and her sons. Other subjects have included many actresses such as Kim Basinger, Cameron Diaz, Gwyneth Paltrow, Julia Roberts, Meg Ryan, and Catherine Zeta-Jones, models such as Claudia Schiffer, Gisele Bündchen, Elizabeth Hurley, and Kate Moss, performers such as Janet Jackson, Madonna and Lady GaGa, and public figures like Baroness Thatcher . Living in London, he continues to photograph the British Royal Family as well as contributing to the image development of Burberry, Gucci, Zara, Michael Kors, Dolce & Gabbana, Estée Lauder, Valentino and Versace.

Testino's work was exhibited at a special exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London in 2002. He has featured in a number of television documentaries.

Meeting up with Eric Guillemain and Lou Doillon after the photo shoot, Eric repeatedly refers to alchemy during our conversation (“there’s divinity is this glass of beer,” was one of his more memorable interpretations). And listening to Eric’s story, you can understand why. He followed the signs. Similarly, Lou Doillon, although born into the acting world as the daughter of Jane Birkin and film director Jacques Doillon, has followed her creative instinct through the gamut of art forms. She’s 25 and already an experienced actress, designer for Lee Cooper, model and musician. Both Lou and Eric have decided that expression and living in ‘your moment’ is not a postmodern cliché but rather something to strive for. Over-analyzing motives is boring, trying to plan your life is fruitless and stressful, and Lou generally warns against drinking from the paranoid fountains of desire and projection. Do your best, live every project fully and the chips will fall where they may. We all have a creative instinct.

Joon Brandt was born in 1975 in Halden, a southern town in Norway. He graduated in 1998 from the School of Media and Film in ITC. After graduation he started working at Media Design, doing visual effects work for TV and film. Moving to the buzzing new film city of Fredrikstad he did freelance VFX work for Zwart Arbeid while at the same time building his own reputation as a director and photographer.

Today Joon's photograps and film direction are the results of the fusion of his visual effects talent and his unique progressive vision of the still and moving image, with inspiration coming from art, fashion, visual effects and commercials to name but a few. Joon always try to take each project a little further and hit the next level.

Craig McDean is a British fashion photographer originally from Middlewich near Manchester, but now based in New York City.
McDean originally trained and worked as a car mechanic before studying photography at Mid Cheshire College (OND) and Blackpool & Fylde College of Further & Higher Education (PQE). McDean began his photographic career in London as a photographer's assistant to photographer Nick Knight.
