In this tenth anniversary of NARDOS Bridal Couture, Iman Nardos manifested her craftsmanship and acuity with the principles of couture. Aside from her incredible spring 2027 bridal collection, Iman Nardos demonstrated her couture skill set by draping fabric on two form models in the style of couture fashion. For those not aware, the word couture means made by hand, and all couture collections have some elements of handmade fashion. By demonstrating her couture genius, Iman Nardos gave fashion industry professionals a direct purview into what it takes to drape a bridal garment. Nardos’ draping was based on a bridal sketch that she exhibited before the draping.

As with all NARDOS bridal collections, a bridal gown is so more than a typical bridal gown. And this spring 2027 bridal collection proves that. This collection proves that a bridal gown can be a total expression of beauty seen through the lens of fantasy and whimsical couture elements. And Rockefeller Center’s Rainbow Room was the perfect venue for this explosion of couture bridal and NARDOS’ tenth anniversary. Especially with Rainbow Room’s rotating floor which allowed fashion industry professionals to experience the collection from every angle.

Standouts in this spring 2027 bridal include but is not limited to strapless structure ball gown with blush, ivory, green mosaic florals, romantic, sculptural elegance, sheer long-sleeve pearl mini with sculptural orchid petals, modern couture elegance, hand-beaded shell sequin gown featuring cascading transparent skirt, geometric crystal and pearl cupcake dress with sheer pearl skirt, and light blue hand-painted silk organza gown with a draped sculptural base and overskirt.

VERDIN sets themselves apart from other bridal brands in two aspects: the beauty of their collections and the craftsmanship. Inspired by the romantic gardens and luminous paintings of Claude Monet, this collection captures the softness and movement of nature in bloom.

Known for producing beautiful bridal fare season after season, for the brand’s spring 2027 collection, a new approach to lace and floral embellishments appears throughout the collection. Though the bridal silhouettes are traditional, much of the fabrications have a modern look.

Instead of using lace in many of the bridal looks, a typical fabrication for spring collections, Mira Zwillinger chose to incorporate floral embellishments evidenced in hand-printed florals. Many of the hand-printed florals, some in a 3-D form, were layered on the bridal garment, producing the effect of blooming florals.

Standout looks include a sculpted bodice with delicate straps with a voluminous skirt where floral motifs had been carved directly into the fabric and filled with lace combined with a matching lace cape, a silk Duchess gown with drop waist with slim shoulder straps, a very sheer lace fit-to-flare gown with lacy peplum combined with sheer lacy sleeves, and a strapless corseted bodice flowed into a richly layered skirt, with floral embroidery rising organically from the hem toward the bodice.

Easter is celebrated by Christian communities around the world. However, for Black Americans Easter has a special significance that may differ from how other Christian communities embrace and celebrate this religious holiday.

For Black Americans Easter not only points to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, marking the beginning of Christianity, but also creates a spiritual petri dish of liberation, freedom, and hope. Jesus Christ’s resurrection represents a new beginning, freedom from the bondage of institutions and corrupt systems, and hope of a better and more just future. All these spiritual revelations and projections were incapsulated in David Geffen Hall’s celebration of gospel music as a part of their American Songbook series at Lincoln Center.

The “Revival: The Gospel According to Donald Lawerence” made a significant excavation into the origins and history of gospel music with an assemblage of 13 gospels singers and Grammy-winning artist Ledisi and Broadway music director Joseph Joubert. While this spirit-filled performance examined gospel music contributions to the American Songbook, there was much focus on how gospel music has been a source of liberation and hope for the Black community. And without gospel music, which is now catalogued as one of the original forms of American music, there would be no R&B music, pop music, hip-hop music, or club music. All these music genres come out of the black church in some form and now are aptly represented in modern contemporary Christian music.

What stood out most about this concert, so aptly put together for Easter celebrations, was that the music spoke to the Black American traditions of creating new musical genres out of pain, loss, and exclusion and transitioning those traumas into joy, celebration, and hope.

And course, the vocal pyrotechnical skills of the gospel artists have to be acknowledged. Ledisi brought a particular sensitivity and authenticity to the gospel legendary songs “Precious Lord” and “Changed”. Additionally, “I Know I’ve Been Changed” was rendered with deep conviction by Latrice Pace. Joseph Joubert took Richard Smallwood’s classic “Total Praise” and turned the classic into a masterpiece of virtuosity and technical acuity.  Gospel artist Kyla Jade blew the house off with her powerful rendition of the Clark Sisters’ “You Brought the Sunshine.” And lastly, Donald Lawrence performed his soulful “Not Making Sense, Making Faith” spoke to his own struggles and his victory.

It’s almost that time again; time for the cavalcade of exquisite white gowns in every form and silhouette. In guess you didn’t guess, New York Bridal Fashion Week (NYBFW) is right around the corner. And this season’s NYBW promises to be one of the best in the history of NYBFW.

NYBFW has become of the premier events of the New York fashion season. And in some respect, NYBFW is beginning to eclipse New York Fashion Week (NYFW).

One of the many things that stands out during NYBFW is the plethora and intense variety of bridal silhouettes. From fit-to-flare gowns to mermaid gowns, and column gowns to princess gowns, there is something for everyone. Another difference from NYFW is the absence or almost absence of fashion influencers. The bridal market is not such an easy market that fits into influencers’ post that center around themselves and their lifestyle.

Ask Renessta: This weather is fluctuating wildly with some days feeling like springtime, some days feeling like the summer and other days the temperature plunges back to winter. I’m hot for one part of the day and cold the remaining of the day. I need help layering my wardrobe to accommodate different seasons in the same day. 

Renessta: I absolutely understand the conundrum with this bipolar weather. In the morning it’s cold, by the middle of the day it’s 70 degrees or warmer. Once the sun sets it’s back down to 30 and 40 degrees.  So, what are we going to do? We are going to layer! That’s right!

You really want to invest in wardrobe staples that breathe and help regulate your body temperature, silks, cotton, and cashmeres. Our first layer may be a cotton tank or camisole, then you want to add a silk or cashmere sweater topped off with the perfect trench jacket or coat and a scarf to take up the negative space in your throat and chest area. With the fluctuations in temperature, this is the prime opportunity for all of us to catch a cold and that’s exactly what we don’t want!

Grab a cotton tee shirt from Quince as your base layer. Their stretch cotton jersey-fitted long sleeved tee shirt is “that girl’ and the perfect starting point to build upon.

Then add the perfect cashmere sweater from J. Crew in August Peridot. The restored trench coat from Coach is replacing our emotional support jean jacket this season. The classic khaki, short trench with the signature coach logo on the collar is a must have and the perfect addition to a curated closet. 

Skinny leg denim is out while barrel leg and wide leg jeans are in! Levi’s has the most fabulous cinch barrel women’s jean and are a must have along with a sophisticated pair of vintage wide-leg denim trousers from Madewell. 

Now, because the weather is so tricky and you need to be safe not sorry, add the animal print Lottie Loafer by Stuart Weitzman. It’s a statement shoe and definitely a conversation starter.

Everything must change, that also includes Great Britan’s Royal Family. The Royal Family has moved beyond the ceremonious representation of the British Empire, steeped in tradition, pomp, and ceremony. The Royal Family now embraces modernity evidenced in diversity and a much more accessible projection.

The modern Royal Family is catalogued in Chris Jackson’s new book, “Modern Majesty: The British Royal Family in a New Era.” On his book tour at New York City’s N.Peal boutique on the Upper East Side, Jackson spoke to Fashion Reverie about his inspiration for the book, his relationship with Great Britan’s Royal Family, and the changes that are afoot in this esteemed family.

Fashion Reverie: How did you start your royal journey, so to speak?

Chris Jackson: It’s been 25 years now, and I started. I did a degree in physiology in college. I became passionate about photography while still in college and set up a dark room in my house. I shot morning, noon and night, eventually getting a job with Getty Images. The variety of photography was so special. One minute you are shooting a sporting event, and the next moment you are on some exotic location. You are a reportage photography one day and the next day you are shooting portraits. I just loved the variety.

Fashion Reverie: After three books of the Royal Family why did you entitle this book “Modern Majesty: The British Royal Family in a New Era”?

Chris Jackson: “Modern Majesty: The British Royal Family in a New Era” is very much about a new era for the British Royal Family. In my other books, obviously I show lots of photos of the iconic Queen Elizabeth II. However, in this new book, we are in the monarchy of King Charles who has changed things up a bit. The cover of the book is a bit shocking and never would have been used or seen in Queen Elizabeth II’s time.

Fashion Reverie: So before in Queen Elizabeth’s II time photography was head on not from behind.

Chris Jackson: Correct. So, the position that we present the Royal Family on the cover is a unique position.

Fashion Reverie: Did you have to get certain approvals to be able to shoot the Royal Family from the back?

Chris Jackson: Yes, we did. We had to get approval from the palace. So, the cover is an example of things being done differently. Of course, we see the Prince and Princess of Wales meeting the public. There are selfies of the Royal Family in this book, something we had not seen much of in the past. We also see the Royal Family engaging with the public in way that makes them more accessible.

Fashion Reverie: So, this book goes back into 25 years with the Royal Family, which does not include Princess Diana.

Chris Jackson: I was not photographing the Royal Family while Princess Diana was still alive. This book does cover the 20^th wedding anniversary of King Charles and Queen Camilla.

Fashion Reverie: Did you attend Prince Harry and Megan Markle’s wedding?

Chris Jackson: It was amazing attending and photographing their wedding. It was a beautiful spring day in Windsor Castle. I got great shots of them in the wedding carriage, and it was a great day for the nation. I have always enjoyed photographing Harry and Megan when they were working royals. Those photographs are not in this book, but in my other book.

Fashion Reverie: What process did you go through selecting the photos for this book?

Chris Jackson: It is hard and overwhelming. To try to break done 25 years of photos and categorize the images is daunting. However, I have a great team at Rizzoli. That said, I did have to cut out a lot of great images. I also enjoyed writing the stories behind the images.

Fashion Reverie: Is there a bit of fashion in “Modern Majesty: The British Royal Family in a New Era”?

Chris Jackson: The first thing that consumers and all of us, to the effect, notice about the Royal Family is what they are wearing. It might not be the focus of what they are doing or the event they are attending, but what they are wearing is important. The Royal Family are huge supporters of British fashion and British brands. And much is written about the Royals’ fashion.

The Princess of Wales is a fashion icon. And what the Princess of Wales wears helps amplify charities and causes she spearheads and supports. She is a big advocate of sustainability.

Fashion Reverie: What do hope consumers will get from “Modern Majesty: The British Royal Family in a New Era”?

Chris Jackson: This is a personal look into the Royal Family with stories behind the images. Of course, this book contains the pomp and the ceremony, but there are genuine insights into the personalities of the Royal Family. You can see King Charles feeding his chickens, and how he and Queen relax. So, readers will get to see how the Royal Family gets to spend their downtown and well as all the pomp and ceremony of the royal duties.

Anne Hathaway is in full promotion made around her five movies that come out his year, including the much awaited “The Devil Wears Prada2.” This whirlwind of promotions includes interviews and magazine covers. And one magazine is of interest to fashionistas. That magazine cover of note is Hathaway’s cover for the Harper’s Bazaar April issue.

In this Harper’s Bazaar issue Hathaway talks about motherhood and having stopped drinking a few years back. “I just decided that it wasn’t fair for me to move through my life as a stressed person,” she says. “I don’t want my kids to be around it, I don’t want my friends to be around it, I don’t want strangers to be around it, I don’t want people I work with to be around it. So, I’ve done a lot of work to figure out how to metabolize differently, so that way I don’t feel overwhelmed by all that’s coming at me and that I’m participating in, but I [feel] really excited by it,” explains Hathaway in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar’s Lean Chernikoff.

When speaking of the upcoming “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” Hathaway noted that while filming runway scenes at Milan Fashion Week she noticed that the models were extremely and that there was no size diversity on runways. Hathaway secured from the producers of “Devil” that models used in the film would look healthy and not reflect the current look of thin models.

Alysa and Nike

The 2026 Winter Olympics may be over; however, the memory lingers, especially, for women’s figure-skating gold medalist Alysa Lui. Lui has been particularly in the mind of Nike since her Olympic win, with Nike placing Lui as one of the most intriguing athletes of the 2026 Winter Olympics.

That said, Lui recently signed with Nike and will collaborate with Nike on her own Olympic-themed apparel with the brand. The campaign includes T-shirts and hoodies that represent Liu’s figure skating career. The tee shirts start at $45, while the hoodies are priced at $70. Liu’s collection is scheduled to release on April 30.

Courrèges exit

Nicolas di Fenice is leaving the legendary French luxury house Courrèges. And there is much discussion about who will replace Nicolas di Fenice.

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the group and especially to François Pinault and François-Henri Pinault for their trust,” said Di Felice in dailyfrontrow.com. “I also want to truly thank all the teams and my friends, whose talent and dedication made this human and creative journey so meaningful.”

“Under his direction, the house experienced a true renaissance, acclaimed by the critics, and established itself as a distinctive voice in the contemporary fashion landscape,” said the brand in a statement, as reported in dailyfrontrow.com. “Nicolas reinterpreted its iconic codes and created a true dialogue with a new generation … Courrèges is grateful for his unique contribution and extends its best wishes for his future projects.”
