I've always been a sucker for bell bottom jeans and when that bell bottom involves some crazy colored patchwork details I really go crazy. Since these TEXTILE Elizabeth and James jeans retailed at almost $500 I calmly stalked them until they went on sale for 80% off. Instead of doing the usual thing on top with a baggy tee and a jacket I wore a cropped evergreen pointelle sweater. Trusty Miu Miu ankle boots that have a tall heel finished off the ensemble. A skirt this beautiful deserves a twirl or two. The gold pleats divided by silky white insets set this skirt apart from all the other pleated skirts out there. Jonathan Saunders is new territory to me, but I am very impressed. The skirt is made in England and my boyfriend thought it was gorgeous as well. The retail price was very high, but a discount of around 70% off made the skirt worth snagging. To keep the focus on the skirt I paired it with a simple, yet sleek low back bodysuit from Only Hearts. You should definitely check out Only Hearts if you are looking for beautiful lingerie and other pieces to layer under your winter wardrobe. This bodysuit is the kind of piece you don't even notice you are wearing. It is that comfortable. I finished off the look with my shiny black patent Charlotte Olympia pumps.

There are never enough red sweaters out there, especially the fuzzy angora kind so when I saw this IRO sweater in a true shade of red I knew I had to snag it. So many sweaters are black or grey, but red really brightens things up. It doesn't hurt that the sweater was on sale and is made in Italy. It is the kind of sweater that makes you want to sip tea by the fireplace while reading an intriguing novel. Pairing the sweater with some beaded tap shorts really gave it a dance feel. These DVF shorts are very well made and I like the sheer mesh trim along the bottom. The combination of textures in terms of the silk mesh, beading, and fuzzy angora really set the tone for the tap dance look. I have been growing bored with my collection of black opaque tights so I invested in some stylish Wolford ones. This back seam style is extra sexy and adds something extra to the outfit without breaking the bank. Patent leather platform pumps with an ankle strap seemed like the only way to top off this jazzy ensemble. They match the high shine of the beads in the shorts.

Mint green seems to be the color of the moment and I am not complaining. It is a great shade for someone with my hair color. Usually I like my jackets to be black so they go with everything, but something about this Diane von Furstenberg cropped coat really caught my eye. The cut is perfect for higher waisted items and the fabric is extra soft. Sometimes it is more interesting to pair opposites in your wardrobe. The cropped wool coat is so prim and proper compared to the wild leopard print shorts. They balance each other out and make for an eye catching combination. This jacket would also look great with a feminine pleated gold skirt. I am already thinking of all the ways I can wear the coat. It will transition my wardrobe into spring quite nicely. Givenchy ankle boots that cut off just below the ankle were a likely choice. They elongate the legs and look sleek with black opaque tights. The lace-up detailing on these Givenchy boots extends all the way down to your toes, making them very unique.

High waisted shorts and tights is a favorite combination of mine. These shorts have a wild leopard print and are a cashmere and silk blend making them very warm. Wanting to contrast with the leopard of the shorts I wore a cropped mint green wool coat. Even though spring isn't quite here yet, you can still incorporate spring colors like mint green into your winter wardrobe. Underneath the coat I had on a basic tee from James Perse. A comfortable shirtdress can be a versatile piece in your closet. You can throw it on over any outfit and use it as a sleek, lightweight jacket. You can also belt it at the waist as I did or even at your hips for an edgy look. You can layer items over it such as faux fur vests and jackets. The possibilities are endless. This silk shirtdress is by one of my favorite up and coming designers, Kelly Bergin. I am absolutely in love with a lot of her pieces and designs. She manages to take the most simple basics, but adds a special twist to them that makes you really want to add them to your wardrobe. This shirtdress features a longer hem in the back and an oversized fit. You can roll up the sleeves to make the look more casual as well. It is silk and made in the USA.

I chose to cinch it at the waist with this gold leaf belt from Raina Belts. This belt is made in the USA and is very high quality. The gold tone leaf detailing is done so well and doesn't weigh the belt down. It is just the right touch of gold for an all black ensemble like this one. I finished off the look with my fitted suede thigh high boots from Alaia. These have the right amount of stretch so they hug your leg and stay put, but at the same time they offer that slouchiness near the bottom that I was looking for in a suede thigh high boot. I can always count on Alaia to design the most unexpected heels. You can tell he studied architecture when you look at the heel on these boots.

Haven't you always wanted a classic plaid blazer? I know that I have so when I saw one of my favorite brands making one I knew it would be the perfect piece. Rag & Bone blazers seem to fit really well and they are usually made in the USA. This particular blazer is composed of materials from England, but it was made in the USA. All that sounds pretty good to me. I had to order it online and the photos never seemed to do it justice. I took a chance on it and I was so happy when it arrived just after Christmas. Right away I wanted to take the school teacher vibe out of it and make it really edgy. The best way to go edgy is with skin tight leather leggings and sky high red-soled ankle boots. Basic pocket tees work best under your blazers so make sure you have some of them in your closet for quick styling. An oversized clutch and your choice of arm candy will complete the ensemble.
