The Corona Virus outbreak has seen the Fashion Industry take a new turn on its approach making a turn to look to real people as opposed to the usual ideals of perfection and fantasy we has become accustomed to seeing. From photoshoots being done as selfies from models in their homes to fashion shows going 3D and interviews being conducted on live broadcasts on social media due to Lock-down and social-distancing. Lock-down has seen the fashion world transform and take new shape to adapt to the beat of the current times.

What has also been refreshing to see is British Vogue new Cover girl turn into the real and relatable woman. Having a history of once being criticized for not showing enough diversity on it's covers and models with an unattainable image, Vogue has certainly come a long way and in recent years has experienced many revolutionary moments to its first issue with a black model on its cover to showcasing a model in a hijab to having it's oldest woman aged 85 on its cover and now The every-woman on its upcoming July Issue.

The July 2020 cover story titled ‘The Front-line’ celebrates the millions of people in the UK who have put their lives at risk everyday to ensure that the wheels of world outside continued to turn during this pandemic. These individuals are to be celebrated for their perseverance, extraordinary strength and kindness. Despite being faced with adversity, they have continued to put on their uniforms, smiles and go to work every morning and that is something truly remarkable and to be taken note of and Vogue highlighted that very well.

With Corona Virus at it's peak and the need to stay safe and germ free in-order to avoid sanitizing your whole life when you step back in-doors, I've taken a picture of what's currently in my bag at the moment to share with you what essentials I've been carrying around. Whether you are poppimg out to the supermarket, GP or for your daily excercise, I have put together the perfect 'Survival-kit' to get you through the day.

These essential items are probably the only things I will be carrying around with me for the time being and in all fairness, they are really and truly the only things we need.

1. House keys

2. A 'Face Mask' for protection

3. Sunglasses - to protect against UV Rays and to look chic on those daily walks

4. My mobile phone - Music on the go and communication.

5. Purse (with only 2 cards - My debit card and ID)

6. Fragrance - just to keep things fresh (I love Hugo Boss ~ The Scent)

7. Hand stanitizer - The Aloe vera one is very kind to the skin

8. Finally, Carmex lip balm for long-lasting lip protection

You know I love my red-lipstick, but I think we all have to be practical during this time and embrace the idea of keeping things simple. With make-up, I've literally just been going around mostly bare-faced and this has allowed my skin to breathe aswell. For my lips I thought the 'lip-balm' as opposed to 'lip-stick' would be a good alternative as it doesn't rub easily and Secondly, with a "face-covering" noone is likely to see my face anyway and it will only get wasted on the mask at the end of the day.

With new information suggesting Covid-19 survives on surfaces, it's only wise to minimize the amount of stuff we touch especially while we are out so definitely carrying around less things will help you ensure that you don't bring the virus back home.

The 'Face-mask' is fast becoming a daily necessity since the unforeseen arrival of Covid-19 and it is becoming more and more inevitable that we will all have to invest in one if not already.

As much as the majority of us would hate to admit it, we have felt safer with that extra layer of protection as we have ventured out over the past few weeks. And, while some of the methods we have used have been the least flattering, they have certainly served a purpose and aided in giving a little extra confidence and comfort of security while out not only for ourselves but for other members of the public. In a statement given by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo he states that,

" When you wear a mask you say, I respect you to everyone you walk past..." A mask says "...I respect your health, I respect your privacy, I respect your space and I respect your safety...."

and it also speaks for the frontline workers, nurses and doctors who are putting their lives at risk for ours everyday and he couldn't have been more right.

As we begin to see some semblance of normalcy on the horizon, with lockdown becoming less restrictive and easing; face coverings are being encouraged more and more especially when venturing into enclosed spaces such as public transport and supermarkets.

A mask not only protects you but it makes the other person feel comfortable, safe and considered as a human being. | ANIFA MVUEMBA REVOLUTIONALIZES THE RUNWAY IN A SPECTACULAR 3D SHOW

Congolese designer Anifa Mvuemba, gave a preview of what catwalks might look like in a post-pandemic world with a collection using virtual models.

The collection which was released for her fashion brand, Hanifa, on Instagram live on Friday 22nd May featured digital models sashaying down the runway with the clothing on three-dimensional headless bodies. The Pink Label Congo collection showcased a range of gorgeous dresses in vibrant colors, tops and trousers and was described as the future of runway fashion by the online stage of spectators. Could this just be the beginining of a revolution? I must say hats off to Anifa for being the first in the game to jump on to this much talked about idea. She surely kicked it off on the right foot and it will be interesting to see who jumps in next on this new phenomenon and what innovations in tech will be coming next in the new outlook of the Fashion show.

THIS SEASONS MUST WATCH TV SHOWS

1. Money Heist

I must admit, Money Heist was one of those shows that took me by surprise from what started as a "let me quickly check what the hype is all about" which ended up turning into 1 week and a halves worth of Binge TV. It had me glued to the screen by the time I got half way through the second episode. It was definitely a good show to take the mind off of Covid which at the time was all that dominated the main TV Channels. Starting with a group of eight criminal banding together in the plot to launch phase one of Spain's greatest heist of all time; The Royal Mint. Which each episode filled with suspense that will have you clenching at the edge of your sofa leaving you even more and more anxious and curious for the next episode to come. A plot that can only be concocted by the genius of Masterminds and one that will have you gagging for the next move.

2. Insecure

Back for a second season, Insecure journeys on to tell the very related story of young adulthood with Issa attemption to get her act together after a dramatic break-up from her boyfriend and the ghost of the one that go away still looming in the shadows. Feeling abandoned, rejected and like a failure she embarks on her quest to sort out her life; 'for real this time' and discovers that even her own bestfriend has left her in the dust. A funny, witty and relatable rom-com which takes you on a funny and heart wrenching rollcoaster that will leave you simmering with tension and feeling all types of way.

3. Becoming

A deeply personal memoir of former United States first lady Michelle Obama published in 2018. Described by the author as a deeply personal experience, the book talks about her roots and how she found her voice, as well as her time in the White House, her public health campaign, and her role as a mother. Now we have this watchable, but carefully authorised, behind-the-scenes documentary for Netflix (from the Obamas’ company, Higher Ground Productions) about Obama’s American book tour (with a stopover at London’s O2 Arena). It shows her getting in and out of armoured sports utility vehicles, chatting easily and good-naturedly with her security detail, with colleagues and family members backstage, with beaming celebrity moderators onstage (starting with Oprah Winfrey) and with people getting their copies signed in bookstores who often dissolve in floods of tears just in coming face to face with her. The beauty of this documentary is that it shows a very relatable, human side to the former first lady and tells her story in a groundingly pure and raw way. A very touching and humbling storyindeed, set-out to inspire many, particularly the youth of today with the message - 'You can do anything you put your mind to'.

4. Dynasty

Dynasty - A modernized reboot of the 1980s primetime soap and it follows two of America's wealthiest families, the Carringtons and the Colbys, as they feud for control over their fortune and their children. Told primarily through the perspectives of two women at odds -- Fallon Carrington, daughter of billionaire Blake Carrington; and her soon-to-be stepmother, Cristal, a Hispanic woman marrying into the WASP family -- "Dynasty" not only features the glitz and gloss of extreme wealth, but also exposes the dark underbelly of a corrupt world built on backroom deals.

5. Tiger King

An exploration of big cat breeding and its bizarre underworld, populated by eccentric characters. A true crime story you have to see to believe, Tiger King is a messy and captivating portrait of obsession gone terribly wrong.

6. Curb your Enthusiasm

Still sharp after all these years, Curb Your Enthusiasm just completed its tenth season but remains a must watch. This season, which featured Larry on a quest to open a coffee shop motivated by spite and wearing a MAGA hat to avoid social interactions, was sharp, irreverent and filled with perfectly cast guest stars like Laverne Cox, Isla Fisher, and Jon Hamm. While the world endures lockdown, Larry’s brand—neurotic, germ-obsessed, and hater of physical touch—is comforting. There are people who chose to live this way!

7. Queen of the South

Teresa flees to the United States after her drug-peddling boyfriend is murdered by a cartel boss. There, she sets out to become a drug lord and vows to avenge her lover's death.

8. The Good Fight

If you have watched The Good Wife before then you will definitely enjoy 'The Good Fight' which solidly follows its predecessor while allowing for new storytelling styles. A legal drama with a wider narrative scope giving its lead a chance to explore new territory with a relatable human struggle. Like any good courtroom drama, its cases are full of moves and countermoves that make each episode feel like a dance, and it’s frequently laugh-out-loud funny. The Good Fight excels at satire that is both over-the-top and incredibly sharp — a talent that has made it the first truly good series about the Trump era, even as it continues to unfold. It’s a show that’s not afraid to be ridiculous in an effort to underscore the absurdity of the times, while affixing its drama to underappreciated stories ripped from headlines that the news cycle glosses over all too quickly.

9. Blood & Water

After crossing paths at a party, a Cape Town teen sets out to prove whether a private-school swimming star is her sister who was abducted at birth. The series (Netflix’s second African original) follows 16-year-old Puleng Khumalo as she sets out to solve the 17-year-old mystery: The first episode opens on her sister’s 17th birthday, which her grieving mother celebrates every year with a morbid over-the-top party. After a fight with her mom, Puleng ends up at another birthday soiree — this one’s crawling with rich kids — that leads to her budding obsession with Fikile Bhele (doing her best “popular girl with a heart of gold”), a “genuine influencer” she swears is her long-lost sister and it takes her on a trail of investigating in search for the truth which soon proves to be a very rocky road. Faling in love leaves her caught between continuing on her journey to find her sister or loosing her boyfriend. Very gripping and heart wrenching story that will have you sucked to the end.

10. New Girl

If you've watch Friends before then you will enjoy New Girl. The Sitcom stars actress and singer Zooey Deschanel as Jessica Day; a dorky but lovable twentysomething woman looking for a new place to live after she discovers that her live-in boyfriend of seven years is cheating on her. Luckily she meets three single guys - sensitive Nick Miller, obnoxious Schmidt, and athletic Winston Bishop -- who have a fantastic apartment and a room to rent. Adjusting to a female roommate isn't easy for the guys, but helping them get used to her is CeCe, Jess' best-friend, who also happens to be a beautiful model. Together they create a fun and rather dysfunctional family something most of us can definitely relate to having lived with friends in halls or shared accomodation.

JIL SANDER S/S20 | INTELLIGENT FASHION

Dubbed to be one of the more 'serious' collections of the season, I was astonished by that criticism althogh I can see where it may have stemed from given the layers upon layers fabric and contruction. Perhaps this may well be the stylist in me talking but to me Jil Sander has always been one of those brands that has always delivered. However contrary to that bias may be; as they say 'Art it speaks to everyone in a different way' and for me that's exactly what this collection did.

With much of the criticism of the collection tilting towards it being more suited for an older generation and being rather serious and mature in design, in my eyes the collection translated to be a very architectural, sculpted and well tailored run through. The organic collection couldn't have been more fashion-forward and throughout out. Very monotone and opulent featuring blacks, whites, navies and neutral tones. In all its layers, there still was an element of power, sexiness and sophistication in the design concept and silhouettes. Fashion geared more toward style and free-spiritedness and this reflected in the expanded cuts of very elaborate, couture-shaped tailoring and a elements of refined raffia inspired fringing with a more clean and refined twist. In hindsight, I feel there was a huge level of boldness and intelligence on the Meiers' part and an indication of change that is yet to re-define the fashion industry.

BALMAIN S/S20 | A TIMELESS TALE

While Balmain remains one of my favourite design houses, which their signature cuts and strong shoulder; this season we saw the return to tradition and Olivier Rousteing did a great job of pulling all the key elements of heritege and bringing that image back to to life. Showcasing a fantastic display 'In Colour' of beautiful ballgowns, aysmmetrical and angular cut silhouettes with stunning detail and I absolutely loved the mix of soft and masculinity in the styling of the collection which reflects the essence of the Balmain woman in her full glory. Edgy, strong but effortlessly dressed models that looked like they'd marched off of the set of a Bond film. There were so many take-aways from this show and something for everyone - All-in-all, it oozed of Modern sophistication and Classic futuristic vibes. Yes, Rousteing did it yet again!

GUCCI S/S20 | INSTANT GRATIFICATION

Technique, form and fabrication reigned on the runway at Gucci's S/S20 show with Michele bringing his fascination with the contemporary market’s objectification of fashion itself. A showcase of freedom of expression, power and sexual energy featured on looks with strait jackets, clean cuts silhouettes, loosely fit garments and lace detail. His models boldly pranced the runway dressed as Sexy Mistresses with chain detail on sunglasses, chore necklaces and fishnet tights. The collection whispered something of a dominatrix nature along with the tassel in hand and bags with statements written on them such as 'Orgasmique'. There was a clear emphasis on the body in the way the clothes hung on the women; so effortlessly and the shapes fell and flowed beautifully echoing the message of freedom and empowerment behind the collection.

GIVENCHY SS/20 | "...SOMETHING-FOR-EVERYONE"

Sexy minimalism meets Romantic maximalism in Givenchy's SS/20 Collection with balloon sleeves, voluptuous volume, sumptuous colour and prints. Clare Waight Keller took her collection back to the 1990s colliding the worlds of New York and Paris' aesthetic marrying Couture fashion and New York's raw spirit of individual style. From sleek leather tops and skirts to monastic mega volumes daubed in florals, the retail driven directive was very clear without taking away the element of opulence behind the concept and design. Lady-like but with a sporty twist. Very dynamic but yet unabated.

Beauty Editor Funmi Fetto has outdone herself with the launch of her first and new book Palette and when I found out that she was having a sit down with Sali Hughs in a conversation hosted by The Guadian, I absolutely had to go.

It was a much awaited book launch and topic that was long overdue to be brought to discussion. Tackling some of the biggest battles that Women of Colour have had to face across decades and going unnoticed by an Industry that simply was not willing to cater or acknowledge ethinic minority groups, Funmi shares her experience and journey and delves even deeper into the challanges most women have had to face. Be it backstage at Fashion Shows, Photoshoots or on the couters of some of the largest and esteemed Department stores, the ethnic monority groups have seen their fair share of exclusion. The shocking revelation of some of the silent struggles that for a time where the norm, leaving most women with a small choice of options of Brands and Product to choose from, meanwhile 80% of the time having to improvise and somehow make it work. The Beauty Industry has come a long way and finally the slow rise of a woman of colour has set many toungues a'wagging - A very craftily written, well reseached book oozing lots of detail, recommendations and top class beauty advice.

I recently went for a spot of Afternoon Tea at the Ham Yard hotel at its beautiful, hidden location in Soho and the experience was exquisite and impeccable. It's a lovely, cozy and elegant hotel and the service and atmosphere was brilliant. Great location for lunch, dinners or classy drinks with friends in a sexy and sophisticated, art infused contemporary environment.

The Menu is a simple presentation between two offerings which come in an array of bite-size heavenly delights designed by Firmdale Hotels Head Chef Robin Read and his talented team. It also includes alternative healthly menu choices, vegan and gluten free options and the amount of food you get is just the perfect portion for 2. You can tailor your selection upon arrival to suit specific needs or dietary requirements the range of sandwiches, macaroons, scones partnered with devine homemade jams and extraordinary cakes will have your mouth watering for more.

It's quiet an experience dining in Firmadale Hotels and besides just the food there is plenty to absorb and relish in each environment. The staff there were very accomodating, extremely helpful and make you feel right at home during your visit at the Hotel. Truly exceptional service.

TOP 5 BEAUTY FAVES CURATED by FS

I’m not a Beauty expect; but over the years I’ve come to learn and know what I like and what works for my skin. With that, I love to share the things that I like in the hope that they can or will work for someone else too. However, as you can imagine I've had to try and test many products before finally pinning down what really works for my skin. Here are my Top 5 Favs:

1. Micellar Water (Face Clenser by Garnier)

Garniers Oil Infusused Micellar Water has got to be the best by far inexpensive make-up remover I have ever used. After once trying Lancômes Bi-Facial Make-up remover a couple of years ago and loving it, I wanted something for everyday use that had a similar result for half the price so I went on an embargo to try on several other brands but they never quite had the same effect. Many moons later, walking past a Boots beauty shelf, this range of cleansers caught my attention. Little did I know that this was going to be the moment I found what I was so desparately looking for and I was immediately was sold on the Garnier Oil infused clenser. After only taking home their smaller bottle to sample, I have to say the result was astonishing and pretty much the same texture and feel Lancome Bi-Facial. I also loved the fact that the smell is very light, pleasant and refreshing. Takes everything off with a couple of swipes using a wet wipe or make-up remover pad, rcleansing even the toughest of mascaras and foundations I.e. Este Lauders Double-wear without a battle and your skin feeling beaten up.

Verdict: Quick and easy to use and very gentle on the skin.

Cost: £6 or less depending on size of bottle

2. Loreal 'Pure Clay' Glow Scrub Exfoliator

This Clay scrub is no joke. And I love how it is packaged and how it applies. Perfect for oily skin and leaves you feeling fresh and clean. The granules are not too coarse or harsh on the skin (Have used many useless, exfoliators that you don’t even feel on the skin or some with the complete wrong density) but you can even set Loreal's 'Pure Clay' Glow Scrub for a few minutes, let it dry then scrub off gently with water or use in conjunction with water and still have a good result.

Contains:

Kaolin which is a highly effective natural clay known to absorb impurities and excess sebum
Montmorillonite, a clay which is rich in minerals and recognised for helping in the elimination of imperfections
Ghassoul - A highly concentrated clay renowned for clarifying skin complexion.
Red Algae - known for its brigntening properties and giving skin that healthy glow.

Drug store brand, less than £10 and lasts for a very long time. Only need to do 2 - 3 skin routines a week

3. Skin Labs Rose Water Mist

This Water Mist revitalises and hydrates the skin and leaves the skin feeling fresh and mositured. It is an infusion of moisture-enhancing Rose, Coconut and Aloe and tones and softens the skin. Can the spritzed throughout the day as a pick-me-up and is very fast drying and non-sticky. Can also be used as a final step before applying make-up and leaves skin feeling suple, fresh and radiant all day long.

Also perfect for make up free day or on holiday.

It also has Witch Hazel extracts to help clarify and brighten the skin complexion, Botanical extracts for skin rejuvination, Moroccan Rose Oil which hydrates the facial skin and Coconut water which plays the rejuvination role and brings dull, dry skin back to life.

Tips on How to use:
Close your eyes and gently spray the mist on the face approximately 8-20 cm away. For an extra cooling and refreshing boost, store the bottle in the refregirator but this is optional.

4. Magnitone Clean Sweep 'Rescilliance Moisturiser'

This Moisturiser is perfect after exfoliation or before bedtime as it really sinks deep into your pores and gives your skin the hydration and protection that it needs. Magnitone's Clean Sweep Rescilliance Moisturiser leaves your skin feeling plum and revitalised but without being oily and it smells unbelievably gorgeous and natural.

Applies thick but absorbs fast and leaves skin deeply moisturised but dry to the touch so u can even apply make up on top of it without it being oily. Has Ginseng and Vitamin B5 for skin energy, protection and is also an antioxidant.

It is supposed to increase elasticity in the skin and has anti-aging properties. I prefer to use antioxidants to wrinkle creams as wrinkle creams can have an opposite effect if used too early in life and natural is always best. I absolutely love this product. Super soothing and provides 24 hr protection.

5. Carmex Cherry/ Origional Lip Balm

I usually use Carmex on my Make up free days or before I apply lipstick as a moisture base especially with Mac's Ruby Woo which is a very dry, matte texture and I absolotely love the result I get with this combination because it keeps my lips hydrated throughout the day and gives my Matte lipstick a nice, sheer finish but without making it greasy or turning it into a glossy lipstick.

In the winter, theres absoloutely nothing that beats this lip balm and I actually prefer it to Carmex's glosses because it doesn't get sticky or need a constant top up throughout the day.

SPECTACULAR STAY AT THE CLAYTON HOTEL | LONDON

After recently spending the night at the New Clayton Hotel in Whitechapel London, I was left breath-taken by the Hotels Unique design inspired by Victorian textile Warehouses with a Modern twist. The interior of the building is an infusion of Victorian elegance with a touch of the neighbourhoods' East End tradition and contemporary creativity.

It was a Classic, Fun, Stylish experience with little interesting ornaments and novel elements of decor to discover around every corner of the building. Imagine spending the night in a gallery; The attention the detail was exquisite. An absolutely gorgeous and interesting Hotel with an eclectic style of architecture boasting 212 rooms and who could forget the divine rainfall showers, impeccable customer service from the team, the classy Globe Bar and 24 hour room service.

Stood in the heart of the City's Financial district, Clayton hotel's location couldn't be more perfect. It's located in London's East End just 2 mins walk from Aldgate East Station with many of London's most iconic Landmark's at arms length including the Tower of London, Bricklane and Old Spitafields Market. It's a great choice for those wanting to stay for Business, Sightseeing, Leisure or Pleasure.

I didn't get the chance to use their gym facilities the following morning, however I did enjoy spending time in the Bar & Restaurant which have a fantastic lounge and relaxed atmosphere. The warm welcome and attentiveness from the staff was something to remember which makes one feel right at home from the moment you enter and leave.

I would definitely recommend Clayton hotel to anyone visiting London and am still yet to explore their other Hotels located in Birmingham, Cardiff, Leeds, Manchester & Belfast which undoubtedly should be an equally fantastic experience.

Sometimes less is more and at The Row every detail was considered with the utmost attention to simplicity, class and minimalism. With fine tailoring being the primary focus to the collection and use of some of the best and most gorgeous fabric, the Olsens' collection really stood out this season as one of the Must-have of wardrobe pieces to have come AW/16. Their line of coats are absolutely to-die-for trending on social media with the tag #WhyCantAllShowsBeLike This and rightly so, if only all shows were like this we'd all have wardrobes bursting full of timeless fashion piece.

Classic clean lines and fine tailoring ran the catwalk of J.JS Lee. Inspired by Victorian architecture in a gorgeous palette of colours, it leaves one lusting for every piece to be part of their AW/16 wardrobe. Simplified tailoring with inventive abstract surface techniques that can be translated for the modern day woman, yes most pieces appear very business-like but it's all down to individual styling and desconstruction and I can see this range extending many generations far.

Suits, coats, and separates with fringed raw edge - What more can you ask for?

MacDonald never ceases to amaze with his high-shine, high-glamour collections. Much of this collection speaks to his signature of sexy elegance but this season his brought a bit more fieceness to the clothing with an added kick of dominarix and 'Girl you don't want to mess with' vibe. “Celebrate your body” was the affirmative message and the models looked like they did exactly that.

Emilia Wickstead's AW/16 Collected presented a Sophisticated, modern take on tailoring and clever use of heavy fabric like no other. Tweed has never looked so interesting and chic and I think this collection adds a lightness to the upcoming AW Season. Above is an edited version of my favourite looks.

This every architechural and minimalist collection caught my eye because even in all its simplicity, there are masses of interesting detailing hidden within it. To me it is like looking at a piece of living art - the colours and the structure - so clean and well constructed. Every girl should have these pieces in her wardrobe. Absolutely timeless and beautiful!

Loved the AW/16 collection by Edeline Lee. It gives off a cool and relaxed vibe and yet at the same time its cleaness and simplicity adds an element of a soft femine nature. The silhouettes are very flirty and elegant and the styling gives off a cool edgy girl - It is Minimalism at its best.
