For the longest, I've been meaning to purchase a new fragrance. I've been using Essence of Fig from Campos D'Ibiza all winter long and during spring. Problem is, although its a fantastic fragrance- really rich, spicy and sexy, its just a bit too heavy for the Spring.
I was perusing the July issue of Lucky Magazine and saw that for part of the luckybreaks, luckyscent.com was offering 35% off of Susanne Langs Midnight Orchid. Come on now- with a name like Midnight Orchid, how could you not be enticed to purchase it. So now I'm patiently waiting for it to get here. Will let you know how much I love it or not.

OK I realised it's been a year since I've posted and a lot has happened since then. The economy crashed, we got an awesome president, Michael Jackson died and the list goes on and on.
During that time I realised, jeesh I miss writing on this blog so I'm going to do a "DO OVER". I'm going to start over again! I realise people are still reading my blog from around the world, so I figured why not keep you guys all engaged!

This time around I'm going to include all the things I love, clothing, beauty, design, architecture and any other random musings I can come across.

I'm currently looking for cute flats for this summer and Ravinstyle has some great pieces online. Something that will go with everything. I want two pairs, one that is simple and another that has a lot more detailing, but the main rule is that it has to go with everything. I really like these Libertas Dame Sandal. They remind me of a pair of sandals I bought back in Athens years back and that I wore to death.I think I may toss in this adorable Missoni-esque Tolani print scarf and S.Sung Cardigan for safe measures.

Bird is a fantastic shop located in Brooklyn that offers a well edited collection from designers from Rachel Comey to Sunshine and Shadow to Isabel Marant and many many more! I'm lusting over a couple of pieces right now. Spring is around the corner and the weather is really warming up and I'm trying to put together my spring wadrobe. I want pieces that are all easy to wear, that can be mixed and matched and won't look dated.

These dress sort of reminds me of the mullet haircut in terms of the philosphy, the front being business and the back being pleasure. This cute dress from Clu, the top portion is really comfortable cotton tshirt material hence the pleasure part while the bottom is of a woven fabric equating the business part. Don't you just love how things come together.

I was recently playing around on Polyvore, which is a really great site that allows you to create outfits. The set below is what I would call Secretary (think Maggie Gyllenhaal in the movie The Secretary) meets a partly cloudy day. I'm loving the Anna Sui top, and the yellow Phillip Lim skirt really makes the outfit pop. It's always fun to have something that's a bit unexpected.

I've had Nina Garcia's The Little Black Book of Style for some time now and I really like going back to it now and again. It is really a helpful book to have around. It's a pretty basic, no nonsense book on style along with beautiful illustrations by Ruben Toledo. Garcia discuseses what every woman should have in her closet, she calls it "the bones". Here they are:

In magazines, I'm always reading that women should be in heels, blah blah blah blah blah. I love flats! I will scream that from the mountain tops while I channel my inner Audrey Hepburn. Don't give me wrong, I think heels are sexy, but I can't deal with them in my everyday life. I'm always in a hurry and flats get me places much faster and now they're cuter than ever! I love this comfy looking pair from Devotte.

Thelma Golden, Chief Curator of the Studio Museum of Harlem has incredible style. Not only is she a brilliant and an intelligent woman but she has really worked wonders for the Studio Museum of Harlem which showcases artworks from artists of African descent. Golden has transformed it into one of the premier art destinations in New York City. Her style is eclectic, sharp and comfortable.

While perusing Luisa Via Roma, I came across the line VictorVictoria, I don't know much about them but I am definitely loving their style. It seems very Catherine Deneuve alla Belle de Jour. I like the neutral tones of this line and all the little detailing, its very cool and sophisticated

CUBA, THE ELUSIVE LAND

Not too long ago I was having a conversation with a coworker and in passing conversation she mentioned she wrote a book. I thought, excuse me?! You wrote a book and speak of it so nonchalantly? I thought that was the coolest thing ever. Although the book is currently out of print, I think its both admirable and notable for someone to write a book about their homeland. I tried putting my Google research skills to the test and alas couldn't find a copy available in the US but instead I found the photographer Tria Giovan that my coworker worked with on the book, Cuba The Elusive Land.

I love the architecture, color, textures and emotions that are invoked in these everyday life scenes. It a real treat to be invited into the lives of the individuals . It's almost mesmerizing.

ROCKSTAR

Clutches come in so many varieties today but the ones that stick out to me the most are those that come in interesting textures and fabrics. B. Romanek's line of clutches, fittingly called Rockstar, are pretty awesome to say the least. I've been thinking about them for a year or so and with the $2,200 price point I'll continue to think about them for years to come. I love the suppleness of the crocodile leather and the fantastic colors. Also the grading of the leather and the different patterns, assures that no two are exactly the same. Also, its great that the crocodiles aren't used only for its leather, the meat is also sold to nearby villages. So here's to great style and sustainable living.

CRISPIN & BASILIO

Bomber jackets have always had that really cool vibe alla Tom Cruise in Top Gun and lately they've been catching my eye. They're no longer over sized and icky looking, but instead are refined, sophisticated, really stream lined with a lot of detailing. Recently I came across a jacket from Crispin & Basilio , the name Crispin & Basilio comes from two fictional characters from a 19th century Filipino novel. I love the pleating and wax like sheen on this jacket. Also the neckline can either be wrapped around as a scarf or be worn as a bow, making the jacket look more feminine and less Maverick and Ice.

If only I were 20 years younger and a couple of feet shorter, I would be the most awesome kid in class with these outfits. Kid by Phillip Lim has got to be one of the most adorable kids clothing like to come out in the last few years. I love how the sassy model (check out her fierce haircut) is working all of these outfits. I love how such grown up pieces are simplified and it works for kids. But what is really bring together these outfits is the sandals, the Birkenstocks really makes the clothes so much more approachable. I really wished that the leopard print dress and cardigan came in my size. I'm officially obsessed and am really considering that style of Birkenstocks for this summer.

BUTTER ME UP

Korres products are the best. I first came upon them years ago when in Athens and they were so cheap and now they're available stateside. I am always raving about their body butters, the guava body butter and the quince body butter are my two favorites. My skin during the winter is worst than a desert, its dry and chapped. But Korres always does the trick for me and it isn't greasy and it leaves behind a light scent that isn't annoying. I love the packaging.
