I had the amazing opportunity of chatting with Jodi, founder of Beyond Yoga, a few days ago. Beyond Yoga is a line of comfortable and versatile activewear all made here in the US of A. This line's pieces are exactly the kind of thing I like to wear when I'm running out to the bank or grocery store or for the very important yoga or spinning class. There's nothing worse than wearing uncomfortable clothes to work out in. And you probably know and agree that looking good while working out is an instant motivator. So, without further ado, I leave you with Jodi and the short interview we did...

Tell me a little about how you got started? What were the career steps and inspiration that led you to start Beyond Yoga?
I knew there was a big opportunity in the marketplace. My mom has been very involved in yoga since I was a little girl so the seed was planted at a very young age. When I left the PR world to teach yoga I knew there was something more I wanted to do. I was inspired by my friends and my own busy schedule and thought that a high end chic line of yoga clothing that could support the busy lives of today's modern woman was in demand. Today we go from carpool to yoga, to work and out to lunch with friends so creating a wardrobe that supports this lifestyle was something that was true to me. It was equally important to me that the line fit and flattered everybody and every body - so it was of utmost importance that styles fit everyone from size 0 to size 16.

Do you have plans to expand your company? If so, what other categories would you love to do?
We have expanded slowly and recently into men's and maternity. Our new maternity line, BEYOND the bump, is set to launch soon and I'm very excited.

Who would you love to see wearing Beyond Yoga?
EVERYONE who celebrates beauty form the inside out but I won't discriminate those who are also beautiful on the outside too!!

Who do you most admire?
People with real self confidence and self love - not arrogance - just those really comfortable and happy with who they are in their own skin.

What lessons have you learned starting your own business ?
It takes a lot of hard work and many years of 24/7/365 but the payoff is rewarding beyond words.

What is a Saturday morning like in your house?
Depends on the weekend - I have step children and they are with us every other weekend - so on those weekends it all depends when they wake up. It's mostly about their schedule and finding quality time to spend together as a family. On children-free weekends - I love to pull down the black out shades and sleep in and spend quality time with my hubby. I got married less than 3 years ago so I cherish our alone time!! No matter what, Saturdays always start early with my favorite spin class at Soul Cycle in Santa Monica with Gina and breakfast with a few of my best friends at FIG in the Fairmont Hotel - yum!

Packing: Puerto Rico

I'm flying solo to Puerto Rico for Memorial Day weekend because the hubby is swamped with work but I'm looking forward to spending some quality time with the family and seeing some of my high school bffs. The temperatures there have been in the 90s so I'm planning on packing lots of shorts, breezy dresses and camis to be able to stand the heat. A few new purchases that will also be packed are two amazing pairs of Loeffler Randall sandals I scored at their sample sale last week and a ridiculously cute Gap straw clutch. I seriously love sample sales. Now, let's just get the work week out of the way and come Saturday I'll be lounging in the sun and sipping Medallas.

I bought this Joie dress for our trip to Thailand a few months ago and it's been in hiding for a bit. Now that the weather is finally cooperating the dress has come out to play and you may have seen it on last week's post for Smirnoff. Today, I wanted to share a few more pictures because I think this is the start of a new found love for tank dresses. I'm usually not one to wear or own many dresses but I've noticed my collection has been growing lately. I've added a few Joie and Free People pretties (like this one and this one worn here) to my closet and they've seen their fair share of outings ever since they went home with me.

I'm no tennis player but I can certainly appreciate a well designed skort. The skort is a hybrid of the traditional skirt and the popular shorts and they are everywhere these days. The most popular one out there? This Zara beauty comes in several colors, fits like a glove, and the silhouette is perfectly playful. Some other ones I've spotted? This Tibi one in a not so mellow yellow (or this daisies printed one) would certainly make a statement and would look great with a simple silk blouse or even one of my favorite linen tees from J.Crew. And if you're looking for a more casual skort then look no further - Theory has a perfectly tailored skort that would do the trick. There's quite a few options out there and I'm guessing that more will come as we head deeper into the warm months of summer. Personally, I can't wait to add one of these beauties to my very small skirt collection.

Recapping

I'm using today to recap the six part series of my #FabFound posts with Marshalls and Glam. As you probably already know, I'm always looking out for good deals and Marshalls is stock full of them. I always find some amazing deals - from designers shoes to fabulous dresses or even home items. Marshalls has it all.

For the #FabFound series I was given the chance to put together six outfits, each representing a different Spring/Summer trend and style. It all started with the sorbet trend for which I chose simple skinny jeans and a sleeveless silk blouse. We then moved on to a ladylike look with a simple LBD with lace detailing, perfect for a date night or a special event. The third look revolved around accessories - a perfect, carry-all tote, pointed toe pumps and oversized sunnies. On the fourth week I sported a more casual LBD with a pair of wedges for brunch with the girls and the following look was a denim on denim style - a chambray top with the always versatile skinny jeans. Lastly, I showed my love for nudes and neutrals with a printed pair of skinny jeans and an easy pullover.

You're now probably wondering what my favorite Fab Find was and I have to say that I can't narrow it down to just one item or look. The designer pointed toe black pumps I wore in two of the outfits (seen here and here), the most flattering LBD ever, the printed jeans, and the feminine silk, color-block blouse are just four of my favorite finds. The best part of it all is that every single one of these items was a real steal. And we already established how much I love those. So yes, next time you're looking for quality that won't break the bank then I suggest you make a trip to your nearest Marshalls. I promise it won't disappoint!

The dog days of summer are fast approaching and I've decided to give a quick upgrade to my shorts collection - a summer style refresh of sorts. As you probably already know I'm not the biggest dress girl so what better than a cute pair of shorts to transition into warmer days? Yes, I'm refreshing my summer style with a few new pairs of short shorts. I also figure my skinny jeans desperately need a break and I'm just willing to give it to them. Add to that some of my favorite products for the warm summer days ahead and I'm ready to go. What are these favorites I'm talking about?

Well, at the top of the list is my always faithful iced coffee from Starbucks. I'm all smiles when the weather warms up just enough to switch my hot lattes for the iced coffee I love so much. And lucky me received a sampling of Starbucks new bottled iced coffees to sip on plus a few extra goodies to get me ready for the warm weather ahead. I'm so ready for the summer heat to arrive!

Summer Planning

I'm definitely a planner. My closet is sorted by colors, I have a list for everything, and I like to have my calendar in order and always schedule things ahead of time. Having both our families away makes it necessary to travel a lot and add to that any trips we take for leisure or work and it quickly becomes a hectic schedule. So what am I looking forward to most this summer? Other than adding more brights to my closet, where do I even start?! We have a few trips scheduled to Puerto Rico, San Francisco, Napa, Boston, and DC but I also cherish my summer weekends in the city relaxing, spending time with friends, lounging in a friend's rooftop and checking out all this amazing city has to offer (which is a whole lot!)

This summer will bring my husband's and my own 30th birthdays, a few weddings, some girl time with some of my best friends, and a fun summer soiree hosted by Smirnoff Sorbet Light. The Stir It Up event will be hosted at my favorite nail salon - Tenoverten in Tribeca - less than a week from today. This event will be the perfect way to kick start my summer with fruity cocktails and some much needed pampering.

My favorite summer weekends are the ones spent walking around the West Village and I intend to schedule as many of those as possible. This summer I'm changing it all up and, even though I can already feel my calendar is itching to see what other special events and trips I'll be able to add to it, I'm going to try and not overdo it. I'm hoping that when I look back at this summer I'll be able to recall lots of time exploring my neighborhood and getting lost in the New York City I love so much. Maybe I'll add that to my calendar as a side note - "Stay in town this weekend!" And stay tuned on Twitter, Instagaram, and Facebook for snapshots of the Stir It Up Event next week - I'll be sure to take lots of pictures!

You probably recognize this designer thanks to Kate Middleton and her amazing choice of dress for the official announcement of her royal engagement. However, Issa has been around for a while. Founded in 2001 by Brit designer Daniella Helayel the line proves to be the perfect choice for the chic gal looking for an amazingly well constructed and glamorous look. Kenny and I have a formal wedding coming up the weekend of the fourth of July in Puerto Rico and I'm thinking one of these dresses would be a great investment.

If you follow me on Facebook, Instagram and/or Twitter then you definitely saw a few sneak peeks of our #FabFound shoot with Marshalls and Glam a few weeks ago. The whole day was so surreal! We were professionally styled and spent the day shooting with some amazing friends, fun tunes, and gorgeous outfits. Not too shabby for my first shoot! Plus I got to meet some fabulous ladies (Natalie, Sara, and Lauren) and reconnect with some others I hadn't seen in a while (Jess, Hallie, Lia and Morgan).

I dressed up in a form-fitting, flirty frock from Marshalls and got to share my go-to ways of shopping at the store and some tips on Spring dressing. Curious about how it went? Have you heard me say that t-shirts are my favorite thing ever? Well, they are (see here, here and here). Not to say that t-shirts are all I wear but whenever I'm in a rush, running errands or simply want a casual piece to dress up or down easily then I immediately reach out for my favorite tees. This Rag & Bone one is brand spankin' new and I love it. Let's start with the fact that it has little leopards all over and then follow up with the fact that it's soft and comfy but also flattering. Paired with some skinny jeans (I also love these on sale) and my gladiator sandals I was ready for a day of running around the West Village.

Spring has sprung and these pictures were taken during an amazing sunny day in the West Village. You may have seen a few additional shots in Monday's post but today I want to focus on my new favorite linen tunic from J.Crew. If you're anything like me then you hear the word linen and basically run in the other directions screaming "wrinkles!" However, I decided to give the summery material a shot when I saw this cute blue and white striped tunic at the J.Crew store. Well, I'm so glad I did because I love it! It's so easy to wear - aka I've worn it three times in the last week.

I began drawing at a very early age and have always found endless joy in it. I began to exhibit my art work when I was 16, holding exhibitions and selling pieces, and over the years have worked tirelessly to develop and hone my style and improve my work. At times it has been a tough learning curve but I can't imagine my life without drawing and painting! Being in London is also amazing for illustrators like me- any time I feel like I'm in a bit of a rut, I go on random art courses; from fine art to graffiti, you can find so much inspiration and direction in these classes. Also I believe you can never stop learning new skills and meeting new people.

3. Where do you find inspiration?
My illustration pieces are inspired by strong women, alternative culture, fashion and sports. Basically, all the things I love or aspire to! My style is vibrant and fierce, and although at times it can be a little dark, it is also always full of energy and passion.

Back again with the sixth and final installment of the #FabFound series with Marshalls and Glam. I've had so much fun shopping and putting together these outfits - sorbet tones, ladylike fashion, flirty dresses, feminine accessories, and chambrays. So for this final installment we're covering neutrals and pastels - like lilac with white and nude. Spring is the right time to shed the layers and darker tones and replace them with light, cheery shades. I do own a ridiculous amount of black and gray so it's so refreshing to add more color to my wardrobe and get ready for the warm months ahead. These jeans were the perfect injection of lighter tones. I have found myself gravitating to them more and more as the days get warmer.

And this white pullover has become a staple in my closet. Spring mornings can be a bit chilly so this piece has taken the place of my favorite t-shirts. And you know how often I wear my favorite tees!

I can't finish this series without taking a moment to talk about these wedges. These are the most comfortable wedges I own! They're also the perfect shade of nude so I can pair them with literally anything and everything in my closet. Definitely one of my favorite Fab Finds.

Remember a few weeks ago I included this top in my Sunday Wish List? Well, I found a very similar version from LNA and it was love at first sight in the dressing room. Paired with my all-time favorite boyfriend jeans (seen before here and here) and some pretty baubles I was ready to go out on a beautiful Spring day in the West Village. By the way, I think this is the most beautiful Spring I've experienced in NYC. Maybe it's because it took soooo long for it to get here or maybe it's just that I forget how amazing this season is after many months of cold temperatures but whatever it is, I hope it's here to stay... for a while.

Mama's Care Package

I get SO excited whenever I receive a fun care package from my mom and that's exactly what I'm giving her this Mother's Day. It's a care package of sorts - a bunch of mami's favorite goodies all stuffed into a pretty leather tote she's been coveting for a while now. What's inside this tote? A hand balm, my favorite solid perfume, a face serum she loves, a bar of decadent dark chocolate, and a few other small goodies that I know she'll love to find in there. I usually team up with my dad to get her one big Mother's Day gift but this year I decided I needed to spice things up and what better than a little care package to put a smile on mami's face.

Met Galas Past

I can't wait to see what this year's "Punk: From Chaos to Couture" Met Gala theme will bring. I always look forward to seeing what some of my favorites will pull out during this oh so incredibly fashionable night and this year's theme has me particularly excited. I'm thinking Diane Kruger will amaze, as always, and we'll be seeing lots of studs, deconstructed knits, spikes and incredible embellishments on the red carpet. I'm also guessing there will be a whole lot of Versace, Givenchy, Preen and Jean Paul Gaultier being flaunted. Who are you looking forward to seeing tonight?
