Oh dear, been a little out of touch haven't I? Yes - guilty as charged. Well, just came back from the holidays, started a new job and been trying to get into the swing of things again. And yes, took me a while (well, excuse the old lady here :p) but I am definitely back for good! Hope no one missed me too much *tee hee*

Today I am in the mood for - guess what - Maxi Dresses! Whoever started this fad is a genius and well, I guess a fashionista at heart too because not only can maxi's be feminine - they most absolutely can be hot, cute, sexy and stylish. Don't believe me? You'll have to read on and see for yourself. What I love most about maxi's is - ANYONE can wear them. Seldom are they too constricted or slim fit (which is good news for me :p), maxi's are mostly also comfortable and easy on the eyes. Piero Guidi Bags - We Love! :)

When I first saw Piero Guidi's circus handbags, it really did not strike me as an ensemble of objects you would see in a circus (I'm serious!). There are horses, tents, clowns, hats - I really have to give Guidi credit for the creativity and originality of his ideas. Not to mention it's either in white (my favorite color by the way) or really vibrant colors. I can see why Guidi themed it "Magic Circus" - it really is!

So being curious me, I dug up more about Piero Guidi and found out that it's a label for fine Italian leather goods. I still wasn't all that convinced if this would be a trend that would catch on -- until I spotted some of my favorite Hong Kong TVB movie actresses with these bags as well. See photos of Nikki Chow, Ada Choi Siu Fun, and Wylie Zhao below.

Imagine my excitement - I'm all jazzed up! *giggles* So, I went and took a closer look at the handbag itself. If you want to see them for yourself, hop on over to http:/www.perioguidi.com and browse through Guidi's line of leather goods and clothing.

Well, of course I couldn't afford the original but an adaptation of the actual one would do for now ;) There are many versions of the Magic Circus handbags that Fashion Urges carries, out of which my favorite has to be this one. Should Men Carry Handbags?

I was on my way to dinner today when I turned on the radio and heard a conversation between the radio DJ and the caller about "man bags". I was a little distracted with the traffic on the roads but I remembered the caller saying something about carrying the bag for the lady for safety reasons - you know, with snatch thieves and all. (That's really thoughtful by the way.) The DJ suggested that men should carry "man bags" instead and the lady could just dump whatever she had in there. Well nice but - do men even want to carry bags in the first place?

I've seen men carrying bags for the girlfriends. In that, I mean carry the girlfriend's bag - not his own bag. Personally, I don't really see anything wrong with it but I've always been curious - we girls are given the little luxuries of life - gorgeous, stylish, and sometimes even expensive designer handbags but why ask the boyfriends to carry them? Is it because the bag is just too heavy (I know mine is!) or it's just a chivalry gesture on the boyfriend's part? The other thing which also keeps me guessing is, do the boyfriends really don't mind carrying them or they don't exactly have a choice?

So, getting curious and all, I decided to Google for "should men carry handbags" and I did find some interesting posts. KNOXiOUS.COM said (and I quote) "The question is, should a guy carry a women’s handbag? I’ve seen this a couple of times and i just find it weird for a guy to carry a women’s handbag. Being a gentleman is one thing, but i don’t think carrying a women’s handbag is being a gentleman."

IcedNyior also blogged that he saw this happening while he was at Starbucks one fine day and thought it looked weird. He even tweeted about it and got a bunch of responses from the men out there. While this trend is quite common in the US, Hong Kong and China, there are actually a lot of men out there who are not-so-okay with the idea.

Choosing the Right Handbag for You

Today, I had a customer asking for my opinion for a handbag that suits her. Handbags come in so many different forms - satchels, messenger bags, hobo bags, shoulder bags, sling bags, and the list goes on and on, so it's not surprising that it can be a little confusing at times. Moreover, when shopping online for a handbag, it may be a little difficult to picture how the actual handbag would look like on you.

Now now, don't fret just yet. I've decided to share a list of tips and tricks I've learned on how to choose the right handbag for you and your outfit. Always refer to the model pictures when shopping for a bag online so you'll get ideas on how to wear it and how it looks on different types of clothing. While designer handbags are a luxury to have, how many of us can really afford the hundreds or thousands on just one bag? Why not expand your options and go for those "inspired" by these designer fashion? They cost only a fraction of the price tag so you can afford even more selections, styles and colors. Isn't that wonderful? :)

The Messenger Bag
The Messenger bag is usually rectangular in shape with enough of space for you to put just about anything (hence the term "messenger"). It typically has a shoulder strap so the bag can be worn across your body, resting on your lower back. See this one inspired by Mulberry. Highly recommended if you must have space for everything you wish to carry along with you at all times. Choose a leather version as it is so versatile, it can go along with any outfit.

The Satchel

The Satchel is a bag which normally comes with a strap. The strap is usually worn diagonally across the body, with the bag resting on the opposite hip. But these days, the trend is to wear it hanging directly down from the shoulder. Here's one inspired by Japan's VIVI handbags. Satchels are a great idea for casual outfits. Choose standard colors - brown or black for everyday use or try a bright color (red, orange, etc.) to make your outfit pop in style.

Shoulder Bags
The Shoulder Bag, as its name suggests, is worn over one shoulder. This is the most common type of handbag, and it's the most practical for your everyday use or a city lifestyle. When you're on a budget, go for shoulder bags as they are highly versatile. They look great be it for formal wear (dresses) or casual wear. 3 Essential Tips to Buying Shoes Online

A friend of mine was telling me that she's reluctant to buy shoes online because well, you simply just can't try them first before you buy. What if the shoes don't fit? What if they ended up not looking as nice as she thought they would? What a mess, right?

Well, not really. While this whole idea of buying shoes online is still a little too weird for some, a lot of online shoppers have actually adopted this trend. All it takes is some careful judgment, a little homework and if need be, some adjustments. Read on as we share some buying tips and tricks with you.

Careful Judgment

Be mindful of the seller you're buying from. Especially if you're not all too sure about the quality of their shoes. Do they provide enough photos, or even, actual product photos so that you know what you will be getting?
Some online shops sell shoes at a premium price, so you need to be careful that you're getting your money's worth. Find out why they are priced that way - is it because it's fully hand made? Is it because of the material used to make the shoes?
A majority of the online stores or blogshops sell shoes which require a pre-order. Why? Well, shoes come in a whole lot of sizes - from sizes 36 to 40 mostly. Some stores offer plus size shoes, so there are even more sizes they need to cater for. If they have a huge customer base wearing all these sizes, good for them. If not, they face the risk of getting shoes at a size that nobody wants. The common painful and frustrating thing about pre-orders is the waiting period. It ranges from 2 weeks up to almost 2 months! Most of the time, there are delays. And the worst part of all - after waiting for so long, you finally find out it miraculously went out of stock.

Do Your Homework

Never take for granted that your shoe size will be the same across all online shops. Different shoe manufacturers will have different shoe sizing charts, so be sure to ask your seller for their shoe size chart. Ask if they have a guide for you to follow so you can measure your feet and compare it against their shoe size chart.

Check your seller's website for as much information as you can on the shoes. For e.g., the height of the heels. Also, some sellers who take the effort to try on the shoes which they sell, will usually leave a note if that shoe happens to have a smaller or larger cutting. If so, they will recommend that you take one size larger, for example. Keep a lookout for these little details.
Always ask your seller for help when in doubt. It is your right as a customer to ask for more information or help first, so don't be shy to ask.

Adjustments, If Need Be

At last, once you get your shoes, try them and walk around in them. Do they fit perfectly? Yes? Awesome!! Now, wasn't that fun buying shoes online and having them delivered right to your doorstep? ;)
A tad too tight? Don't fret just yet. Get help from your trusted cobbler, a shoe repair shop (for e.g., Mr Key & Shoe), or a shoe boutique nearest to you. These experts have the right tools in place to stretch your shoes just a little to make them fit your feet. I remembered wanting a pair of shoes at size 8 but all they had was a 7. But with a little stretching - voila! :)
Are your shoes falling off from your feet as you walk? No matter. Get yourself a pair of shoe insoles readily available even at Watsons. Or, you can also visit a shoe boutique and purchase strappy strips (see pic below, taken from myglassslipper.com). Not only do these keep your feet in comfort - they reduce the pain from walking and abrasion from shoe straps or tight-fitting shoes.
