This prompt was easy to decide what to talk about because this flaw is one I have wished for a very long time I could fix. So without further ado…

Polyvore is a place to create fashion style boards, but digitally. It is a great way to play with mixing different patterns and colors without investing time in a store dressing room. How else would you know if that pair of shoes matches the dress you bought all on line? Well simple you put a board together, and see how it looks. Better yet what if you wanted to make a fantasy outfit? You can do that at the click of your mouse.

Creating your board and posting to WordPress is not too difficult once you understand how the site works. I’ve created a step-by-step tutorial to help you create a board, and post it on your WordPress site.

Go into your account and press the arrow next to create and scroll down and choose a set.

On the right hand side are all of the categories to choose from click on a category you want to begin with.

Of course I chose shoes, and found this pair I wanted to base my board off of. You can either drag the item you want into the board, or….click on the item, and press add to set.

When you add it to the set you have 3 choices as to how display the item you chose: 1) the item with no background, 2) the item with a white box background and 3) crop to costumize the background.

Next I went to the skirts section and wanted to look specifically at pencil skirts for these shoes. I put pencil in the search box and it reduced the skirt section to pencil skirts.

I wanted to reduce the pencil skirts to a particular price range. Click the arrow next to the light gray word price. Scroll down and choose your range. You can see I chose $50-$100.

If you want to reduce to a particular color click the arrow next to four different color box, and choose the color from the drop down choices. You can see I narrowed down the shirts to a navy color.

If there’s an item that needs to be moved in front of or in back of another item, then you can press the forwards or backwards buttons in order to make items overlap. Below you can see that the skirt is overlapping the shoes. I don’t like that so I press forwards and you can see in the next picture that the shoe is now in front of the skirt.

You can add many different items and then delete what doesn’t work. As you add items you can reduce their size and move them around as you wish. It’s a digital collage after all.

Once you have all of the items in there you can choose to put a frame around it, or a background by scrolling down under Categories to Embellishments. You may even want to start with a background, and build an outfit around that. It’s the perfect way to have the look give a finished impression.

Here’s my board with a gold frame around it. However, you’ll see in the next picture I decided to have this board be frameless.

Just before I’m done with a board I put my site name/url as a signature at the bottom of my boards. To add any text by click on text under Embellishments. I wanted it to be navy so I clicked the color box. Once you decide on the font you’d like add it to your set.

The default I Love Polyvore will come up but you edit it to say what you’d like on the upper right hand side. Type what you want in the box that says text. Once done you press update, and you will see your word(s) replace the default text. That’s when you can resize and move the text to the location you would like.

Once everything is satisfactory go to the right hand side and click the Publish button.

Title your board where it indicates title. You don’t have to put a description in, but remember for SEO purposes if you want your board found putting a description makes it so that your board might come up in a search in a search engine.

Once the board comes up go to the left hand column and press the Post to WordPress link. It will bring a pop-up that will have the .html code for you to post to your site.

You want to pick your layout from the first part, then you’ll pick the image size. You’ll have to play with sizes the first time because sometimes the board will bleed under or over your sidebar. Once all of that is done copy the .html code in the bottom box. Now you go to your WordPress site, log-in and begin a new post.

Once in your post paste the .html code you copied from the box in Polyvore on the html side of the new post. If this sounds unfamiliar you simply click the html tab at the top of the post menu.

Click back to the visual side and there’s the board exactly as you created it.

Congratulations! You just created your first Polyvore board, and it is showing on your post. Hit publish on your post as you normally do, and voila a post with a new Polyvore board is on your site.

When it comes to makeup one can’t go wrong with coral – it’s universally flattering for every skin tone, adding just a touch of feminine color.  Coral is this year’s pink, but more grown up than girly.  I’ve become addicted to Revlon’s Super Lustrous Lipstick in Coralberry (pictured below) and can’t stop staring at my freshly-lacquered coral toenails in Sonia Kashuk’s Tango Mango Nail Color (also pictured below – both are available at Target).  Still wary of sporting such a bright color as part of your everyday beauty look?  I’ve noticed that lipsticks in shades of coral draw FAR less attention to any blemishes my skin may have than shades of pinks or reds or even au natural.

If incorporating the latest trend into your makeup routine isn’t your style I beg (yes, beg) you to at least add some coral to your wardrobe.  Dresses, pants, shoes, jewelry, handbags – even if it’s just an accent to the total design of the piece (like in the Marc Jacobs tote pictured below) – bringing coral into your look is a great way to lighten things up!  It sweetens a look, adding a feminine & summery aspect to it that will leave you feeling cheerful & flirty but still sophisticated.  Check out some of my favorite coral colored pieces, perfectly suited for the transition from spring into summer!

I don’t know about you but I don’t have too many sane moments these days, however here’s how I deal with it.

Sometimes it’s because we want to wear things specifically because our mother hates it (only to look back later and say: “What was I thinking?!  Mom was right!  That outfit DID look hideous!”).  Other times it’s because we see something that reminds us of that one bracelet Mom always let you “borrow” when you were seven or a shade of lipstick that you remember thinking she looked like princess or a movie star in.

With the approach of Mother’s Day upon us the question of what to get that style maven you call your mother may have popped into your head.  Sure, flowers or chocolates or perfumes all come to mind but what if you want to get her something personal and fashionable?  How do you pick something to fit another woman’s style – specifically, the woman to whom no other woman’s opinion will ever live up to?

There are a few things to keep in mind when shopping for your Mother’s Day gift.  First, don’t get hung up on cost.  Mom doesn’t want your money and she certainly doesn’t want you to spend $500 on a designer handbag for her.  Keep it in your budget – Mom will appreciate your financial responsibility.  The second thing to keep in mind is to keep it classy, useful and/or keepsake-worthy.  Unless you know your mom is dying for pair of 5-inch fuchsia platform heels it’s better to go with an item that she can use or wear every day in a color that will match most of her wardrobe or at least her personality.  Even better if you can find an item your mom will love that you can personalize, such as a locket with pictures of her grandchildren or a ring featuring the birthstones of the important women in her own life.  Finally, you’re not shopping for you – you’re shopping for your mom.  Keep it within her style and age range.  Every woman loves to feel young but not every woman loves carrying a handbag that looks like it walked off the set of iCarly (or Real Housewives, for that matter).

Since we bought our house I wanted to make a whole built in wall right when we walked into the house. I measured, drew out what I wanted, and yet never had the funds to do it. I held out to build this amazing entryway with hooks for coats, and cubbies for bags. A whole wall of shelves for all of the beautiful items I’ve inherited or received as wedding gifts. I even had the electrician put wiring into that wall so that I could put lights in when the built in was done.

Here I am 3+ years later with no built in entryway, and no where for any of us to put bags, backpacks or jackets. The kids literally dump their stuff on the floor right inside the door. We weren’t upset about it in any way because truth be told they had no where to put their stuff.

With $300 in hand I gave up the dream of a built in entryway, and got practical. I wanted it to still be pretty, but I realized that functional is far more important then waiting for when the time is right to create my master plan.

I told R that we would repaint the living room and entryway because we hated the paint color we had chosen from the minute we put it up. We picked a color called smoke blue to liven up the blah room (my children insisted on helping paint). However the entryway I wanted to take up a notch, the allen + roth Paintable Ceiling Tile Wallpaper was the perfect solution for this. I wanted to use the same paint color we got for the living room, but wanted it to stand out a little so I got the Valspar Paint Crystals.

With the CraftMaid 9-Cube Stackable Espresso Cubicle, the Sauder Cinnamon Cherry Bookshelf and the Portfolio Black Arm Wall Sconce I was well on my way to the entryway I envisioned on a budget I could handle. When I saw the bookshelves I had an idea of using a different wallpaper on the back wall. I got a piece of plywood so I could wallpaper it and then nail it to the back of the bookshelf. and then I thought to match it I would put the same allen + roth Spanish Tile wallpaper on the back wall of the bookshelf that was already behind the couch. In order to make everything look uniform I wanted to use this wallpaper for the back of the bookshelf behind the couch.
