My cousin is getting married in October, and you know I’ll be on the ASOS site for at least 2 months before looking for a dress to wear.

Several years ago, I decided to try a file box. (If you don’t know what I’m talking about, a file box is a really small version of a file cabinet that can be kept on a table top.) File boxes can be used for many different file types. It is something that can be personalized.

I have a file for things I need to get to, but not right away. I have a few files for various magazine articles I want to be able to refer back to.

Here are some great alternative to a filing cabinet:

I use the See Jane Work Basic File Box. It’s a study, canvas covered, and has a top. I prefer my papers to be kept a little more private.

If you prefer legal file folders then you can get something like the Snap-n-Store file box. This beautiful black and white box for $9.99, also comes in a letter sized as well.

A basic file box, like the Pendaflex Poly Desktop File Box has a modern utilitarian look. It’s great for easily accessing papers you use on a regular basis.

I recently got my husband one similar to the Tabletop Mesh File Organizer. Lawyers can have so many papers, and I’m trying to get him into the habit of scanning his documents. I’m trying to minimize all of the paperwork in our home. I suggested he file those papers in the file box for the “to-be-scanned” day.

If you would like something a little smaller and more portable get the Galison File Tote. With only8 pockets it can’t hold a large amount of file folders, but nice for small spaces. If space is an issue I highly recommend this one. It also helps that they come in fantastic patterns. Yet again bring in a little pretty.

Don’t forget there are plenty of file folders that can enhance the pretty-yet-practical factor. Who can resist looking at papers located in file folders, like the Wilson Jones file folders? They put those old manila folders to shame.

I’m a make-up junkie, and yet I couldn’t find the perfect nude lip color. It seemed to be an elusive task, until I got the Givenchy Gloss Interdit in Impertinent Nude.

I was given the Givenchy Impertinent nude lip gloss as a sample tube. It seemed that quite by accident I had received the perfect nude lip color, that I was convinced didn’t even exist. For several days I wore Impertinent Nude, and got more compliments on my lip gloss than ever before.

Let’s be honest, the black patent pointy toe heels are a classic among  the pointy toe heel collections. Pairing it with pearl-like accessories bring out the feminine in this look.

I get asked a lot for storage solutions when things become so overwhelming. My first response is to get storage containers that will be more likely to be used long term by bringing in the pretty. When organizing is not one of your favorite things to do, makes storing things visually stimulating.

My recommendation is to buy storage bins that work with your style. You can go as far as making sure they match the decor in the room you’ll be using them in.

You can use storage bins everywhere to be quite honest, but here are my recommendations for the 4 essential places where a storage box is needed:

1. Put a shallow box by the front door, or on your desk for the mail. A great one to try is the Vinea Stacking Letter Tray. I know it’s impossible to go through the mail as it comes, so your best bet is to use a small shallow box that will allow you to go through the mail at a later time.

2. A temporary filing storage box. I’m partial to upright file boxes like Hanging File Box (Clear). When you know you need to follow-up on something you can file it away, and have it on a counter, or desk to be ready for reference at any time.

3. A large bin by the door for shoes or backpacks when the kids come home from school can save you from tripping over a backpack strap. This is a great way to have those essential kid items out of sight, and easy to find when running out the door the next day. A larger bin like the Scout Junque Trunk (or if you want a lid on your storage box you can go with the Rump Roost which is the same dimensions as the Junque Trunk), will hold all of those items easily.

4. If you have kids you are too familiar with toy bins, and the never ending fight to find the right storage bins for all of those toys. I have tried them all, and have finally found the one storage box that works the best: Ikea Samla. Yes, it’s supposedly to be used as a recycling bin, but if it makes my storage solution issues with toys easier, then I don’t care what it is. (While you’re at Ikea get some Glis boxes, they’re great for small toys and crayons.)

I could go on and on about which storage box you need for different reasons, but this post would be pages and pages long.

Remember your storage solutions should be about what would inspire you to keep things organized.

I like to pair my purple eyeliners with a very light purple eye shadow. It can temper down a bright purple eyeliner, and it softens the look. Here are some great examples of purple eyeliner:

Almay intense i-color eyeliner in purple amethyst is my current favorite purple eyeliner. It says it’s for brown eyes, but I have blue eyes, and I love the way it looks on me. It’s a really soft eyeliner, that is super easy to apply.

Cover Girl’s Liquiline Blast eyeliner in Violet Voltage is a nice deep blue based purple. This pencil goes on more like a liquid liner. It it is an eyeliner that can be used to do a smoky eye with some color.

MAKE UP FOREVER Professional Aqua Creamliner in Matte Purple is an absolutely gorgeous purple that is hard to beat. Get a great angled eyeliner brush and make a thick or thin line. You won’t be sorry with this gorgeous color.

Sephora Collection Jumbo liner 12HR Wear Waterproof in Purple is a thicker liner. Having a thicker liner allows you to do a line on your lid, then using a blending brush blend the liner up in direction of the crease, now your eyeliner has become eye shadow. With a little shimmer to this liner, and creamy feeling makes this liner totally versatile.

As always making sure to put on your mascara completes the look. Make sure to put on at least 2 coats of mascara to get your purple liner to pop.

I’ve always worked where the dress is/was business casual. I’ve redefined it over the years, but there has always been the classic pump.

Every year I would buy a new pump. It would have the classic feel with a twist. Like this year I’ve relied heavily on my Aerosoles in black patent letter, chunky heel and tiny little peep hole at the toe. I’m dying to get a pair of deep purple ones.

In the end all I can say is that every woman should get a pair of pumps that are edgy.

Putting these looks together have me thinking I need a new pair of pumps.

It’s hard for me to ever believe any hair tool can actually live up to its claim. The Braun Ion Brush actually does exactly as it claims to do. It gets my frizzy hair shiny and smooth.

The brush releases ions that automatically control frizz and promotes shine. Who doesn’t want shiny frizz free hair? Imagine that a hair brush is all you need to make that happen.

The day after I got the brush I washed and blow dried my hair. Once I was done blow drying, I had blow drying frizz. I usually just put some shine serum on, and hope the frizz will die. I brushed half of my head and could see the difference between both sides. There was no need for the shine serum, and the flyways were all gone.

I have come to find out that the brush can also help style my hair on those days in between washing. I’m able to use the brush to curl under, or out, at the bottom of my hair. It actually helps me style my hair. All-in-all I can say that this is the best hair brush I’ve had to date.
