Matthew Williamson with Lindex collection

The British fashion designer and color expert Matthew Williamson is the next guest designer for the commercial clothing chain Lindex. This fall on October 4th he launches a special collection - full of feminine and equisite clothes and accessories. 10 % of the total sales income will go to the Norwegian cancer union´s (Kreftforeningen) pink ribbon campaign in the fight against breast cancer. Matthew Williamson has been a renowed and celebrated designer for many years. He launched his first collection in 1997, and he´s known for his unique kaleidoscopic patterns, spicy color combinations and breathtaking decorations. In 2009, he collaborated with H&M and launched an immensly popular collection. The Lindex co-op is already celebrated in the Nordic countries - what a rush this will be! The collection consists of clothes for women and female toddlers.

- As a designer, it has always been important for me that my design makes women feel beautiful and confident. I love women and have always been inspired by them, so I´m thrilled that the collection will support such a worthy cause, Matthew Williamson says in a press release from Lindex.

Green & graceful vintage dress

The joy of a really good vintage hunt, is when you hit jackpot. In this case, I spent about an hour searching between every dress, skirt, jacket, top and other clothes at Velouria Vintage at Grünerløkka in Oslo. That store is like a treasure chest, and it's so full of all you can think of - so it's smart to be patient and look through each garment. I found this green dream of a 50s dress pressed in between other green creations, and my heart jumped inside the flittig room when I realized that it was exactly my size. A perfect fit. An original 50s dress bought in New York. I wonder who the previous owner was and what kind of life she lived. Anyway, I feel honored to bring this dress back life, adding new stories to it's tale.

I wore the Velouria Vintage silk dress at my birthday dinner at the restaurant Lille Asia at Majorstuen in Oslo. The green brocade is decorated with blue flowers. I love the color combination green and pink, so I wore the vintage dress with a clutch from Accessorize and pumps from New Look. I wore sparkling earrings from Glitter as well. The zig zag neckline of the dress is so unique. The shoulders are held up with elastic straps hidden inside. So smart and functional!

Actress Agnes ambassador for David-Andersen

Jeweler David-Andersen invited to an exclusive shopping night in collaboration with Costume magazine on Thursday 30th of May. Actress Agnes Kittelsen, who played one of the leading roles in Oscar nominated movie 'Kon-Tiki', is David-Andersen's ambassador and muse. She mingled with Costume readers and all the jewelers attending with their own stands. Designers and agents from jewelry brands Camilla Prytz, Efva Attling, Thomas Sabo, Alvilde David-Andersen, Susanne Friis Bjørner, Bjørg Jewellery, Nina K, Sophie by Sophie, Nanis and Techno Marine (watches) were present.

Agnes Kittelsen doesn't wear much jewelry, but that night - she felt attracted to an A. D-A ring with three studs (right in photo below) in rosé gold. She bought them together with a matching pair of single-stud earrings in the same color and materials.

- I don't use much jewelry in everyday life. I have some personal jewels - a necklace I bought for my first salary, a jewel I inherited - that means a lot for me. When I'm to attend larger events, I actually come to David Andersen, where I think it's possible to find large but tasteful things, the elegant actress says.

Kittelsen thinks David-Andersen is clever when it comes to branding and business. They're innovative, choose their brands with great consideration and are skilled craftsmen with long traditions as an old, Norwegian jeweler, she continues.

- Norwegian jewelers have become more known internationally. What do you think about that?

- They have much gong on, Camilla Prytz and Bjørg for instance. Norway is moving forward on all fronts. Here we come! she finishes eagerly.

Moods of Norway go up in the air

The creative and happy brand Moods of Norway has designed the new uniforms for the cabin crew and pilots at the airliner Norwegians new long distance flights to Bangkok, New York and Fort Lauderdale in Florida from the 30th of May. With these elegant and hansom outfits, the crew will match the interior design inside Norwegians new Boeing 787 Dreamliner on these flights. Navy blue is the key color, mixed with Moods of Norway's characteristic checkered pattern. Norwegians own red and white colors are present in the details, as well as light blue from the Dreamliner interior design. The uniforms are highly inspired by the 60s - the golden airline decade.

Moods of Norway is a happy brand with a lovely sense of humour. Designers Simen Staalnacke and Peder Børresen have placed messages on their clothes. Inside the jackets, trenchcoats, trousers and skirts, joyful words and messages like 'coffee', 'tea' and 'come fly with me". On the socks, the check list reminds the crew to 'toothbrush, be on time, buckle up, know your exits, enjoy the flight, have fun'.

CEO of Norwegian, Bjørn Kjos, says they're very pleased with the uniforms:

- The design is funny and modern, and I really look forward to display the uniforms at our long distance flights. Moods of Norway has, similar to us, gone abroad to an international market, and we both see the significance of branding ourselves in a way that stands out, he says in a press release.

The Stryn duo comment the collaboration:

- It's a great honor to put our signature on Norwegians new international flights with our 'happy clothes for happy crew'. We want to recreate some of the glamour and style from the golden airline era in the 60s, and at the same time add some of the characteristic, joyful Moods of Norway design through details and colors.

On Thursday 23rd of May, the lovely party expert and champagne connoisseur Edna Falao invited to a champagne and mingling party at the renowned restaurant Bølgen & Moi at Tjuvholmen in Oslo. Lacoste´s unique polo shirt birthday cake!

Lacoste celebrates its 80th anniversary this year. The agency Polhem Pr invited to a birthday party on Wednesday 15th of May at Lacoste´s main office and showroom at Sagene in Oslo. The brands is renowned for their classic polos shirts and crocodile badge on each item. The birthday cake displayed the iconic Lacoste shirt with a modern twist - a delicious orange color. Every birthday guest could also use spray paint and paper forms to make their unique versions of the classic polo shirt. It was a creative and imaginative stunt!

Lacoste also displayed their autumn and winter collections for 2013/2014. The keywords are nonchalant, precise, voluminous, functional and sporty. Transparent single-colored wind and rain jackets are combined with knitted dresses with turtlenecks functioning as hoods. The color scheme is a mix of green, blue, red, bright orange, white and grey. The fabrics are mainly cotton, mohair and boiled and normal wool. The leather bags are perfect for travelling, and the multi-colored sneakers put a sporty edge to a happy and active collection.

The Danish brand By Malene Birger offers exquisite and beautiful female clothes. This spring and summer, the colors are vivid - with bright pink, yellow, orange and green as popping colors. On May 8th, the By Malene Birger store in Hegdehaugsveien at Majorstuen in Oslo hosted a shopping night in collaboration with Costume magazine - with champagne, cupcakes and exciting goodiebags.

Fabrics, cuts and curves are female and elegant, and some of the dresses are decorated with gemstones. White lace on colored background is also a key element. Zebra striped pumps is the number one accessory for your wardrobe this season.

Navy and marine is also a trend you can shop from this brand. This is also a hot outfit alternative for Norway's constitution day on May 17th.

Bold & beautiful Bruuns Bazaar

The Danish brand makes bold clothes look effortlessly pretty and cool. Their conceptual design includes unusual shapes and combinations - with wonderful quality. Costume magazine hosted a shopping night in the store Bruuns Bazaar in Riddervoldsgate 2 between Majorstua and Frogner in Oslo on Thursday 2nd of May.

A pair of colored snakeskin loafers cathed my eyes instantly. Green and wide leather pants with a feminine cut will look stunning with a simple white t-shirt, black pumps and a statement necklace. When you look at the different Bruuns Bazaar clothes and accessories, it's so easy to daydream. The clothes makes you feel good - both by watching and wearing them.

A crow´s tale by Tommy Løland

Stylist and jewelry designer Tommy Løland intrigues with his exhibition "The Conspiracy Of The Birds". His wonders are displayed at Galleri Ramfjord at St. Hanshaugen in Oslo from 4th to 26th of May. It's like entering a fancy and decorated nest with bling-bling stolen by a craving crow - desperate for beautiful things.

- I imagined all the birds stealing like crows - all kinds of things. Then, I've picked up these things afterwards, like this key, from the most peculiar places, the designer said at the vernissage the 4th of May.

The scrap in this exhibition includes bamboo, an old snuff box, African hedgehog and wood, Chinese donkey and a fish from India bringing luck, a porcelain doll head, mysterious baby figure, antique pocket watch, vintage glass and copper buttons from Paris and Japan and pieces from an old Kristiania trompet from 1850. Feathers from different birds like crow, dove, Macaw and peacock are mixed with this junk and embellished with swarovski stones and pearls. Tommy Løland has even used a gas regulator! Trash has been transformed into magical necklaces, earrings, headpieces and rings. The Macaw feathers are from a shelter for hurt birds in the US, and he got a certificate to guarantee that the birds lost these feathers in a natural way.

- I wanted to create an exotic feeling, Løland explains.

The conspiracy of the birds is all over the planet - the crows crave for all that sparkles and shine. Once in a lifetime, a human snatches pieces like a crow. He composes beaty that shines like it´s never been old. Waste is reincarnated and born anew. A porcelain doll head is crowned with exotic feathers and an antique trompet creates new songs around your neck. A fencing mask with swarovski crystals can make you as mysterious as these birds who always hunts for dazzling pieces on the ground.

The exhibition is at Galleri Ramfjord in Oslo, with address Schwensensgate 1 at St. Hanshaugen.
All the jewels are for sale for between 550 to 9000 NOK - most of them between 950 and 2400 NOK.

They represent brands like By Malene Birger, Filippa K, Dagmar, Bruuns Bazaar, COS, FWSS, Baum und Pferdgarten, Sand, Missoni, Epilogue, IRO, See by Chloé and Marimekko. These are strong brands with excellent quality. Take a peek at the autumn/winter collections for 2013 from these brands.

By Malene Birger uses graphic patterns like black and white triangles, lace on top of colored backgrounds in addition to a clover pattern. FWSS is also about using graphic patterns. Dagmar surprise with colored and ragged coats and jackets - hairy devils who will become top trend items. Bruuns Bazaar´s collection has straight shapes and different patterns, as well as black and white stripes. Baum und Pferdgarten also uses graphic and colored patterns, and they mix it with leather and animal prints. To summarize, all these collections exudes modern muse.

The agency Kaare Lund hosted a press view where they presented autumn/winter 2013 collections from their designer brands. Won Hundred is a popular and urban brand. Nude pink and faded red are exciting colors in this collection, and they fit surprisingly good together. Denim and caleidoscopic color print are also important features. Fairly has made an elegant and classy collection with interesting fabric combinations and cuts.

The jewelry brand Maria Black is also an up-and-coming accessory icon, with tough and unique carvings. The rings, necklaces and earrings are small and simple, but yet powerful in it's details and handcraft.

Shopping for shoes will be easier, since a new shoe center in the main shopping road in Oslo has been introduced. On Wednesday 24th of April, Nilson Group and Polhem PR hosted a grand opening of a new two-storey shoe land in Karl Johans gate 6b - with shoes from the varied and joyful brands Ecco, Din Sko, Nilson Shoes, Skopunkten and Vagabond. Something for each taste and occation is displayed in the grand and spacious premises. Here´s a poem about the pros and cons about the search for shoes:

The agency Spalt PR invited press and people for a peek into next season´s trends on Tuesday 23rd of April in Oslo. Their designer brands room everything from crazy cow leather boots from R.M Williams and colorama explotion jackets and shoes from Jeremy Scott for Adidas to sparkling earrings glowing like diamonds in the sun from Cecilie Melli.

The color scheme is generally the same from designer to designer the coming autumn and winter, with bottle green, black, white, deep purple and brown as basics. Patterns vary, some are graphic, yet others have elements from nature or modern graphic art.

The collections for autumn/winter 2013 was presented by the agency Polhem PR on Tuesday 23rd of April. They have many major and also some new and minor brands. Designer Kathrine Nørgård has very recently chosen this agency to represent her exclusive evening gowns and cocktail dresses for women and tailored suits for men. Marte Frisnes is also an up-and-coming and skilled jewelry designer, who displayed her gorgeous personal and romantic necklaces, bracelets and earrings in gold.

To summarize the trends for next season, based on what I saw at this press view, the following is evident:

Fretex bonanza with trendy trio

Secondhand is getting increasingly popular in Norway, and these ladies attracted a giant line with girls on Friday 19th of April. The Norwegian salvation army opened a new Fretex store at Grünerløkka in Oslo - at Olaf Ryes plass 3. Actor Pia Tjelta, chief editor of Costume Vanessa Rudjord and TV presenter/designer Jenny Skavlan had chosen treasures from their own lofts and wardrobes, presented in the brand new store for people to buy.

Among the secondhand and vintage clothes, girls spotted and bought designer items from Filippa K, See by Chloé, Lanvin, By Malene Birger, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Burberry, Dior and so many other brands.

- We all had many bags of guilty conscience at our lofts. It felt like a clothes detox - it was lovely to get rid of it. I'm excited to see who takes over my clothes. I hope this shows young girls, who is under large shopping pressure, that everything doesn't have to be new - and that it's cool to use secondhand, said Jenny Skavlan eagerly.

- We encourage young girls to use their creativity when dressing up, and dear to be yourself - and not necessarily like everyone else, Pia Tjelta adds.

The trendy trio - known for their style and talent, were overwhelmed by the immense turnout of people. I asked Vanessa Rudjord what one should look for in vintage stores and flea markets this season:

- 60s dresses! They're often ankle-length, but you can cut them shorter - and they become more practical.

After over one hour, the new Fretex store had buyers paying over 17 000 NOK. Fretex will help many people with these money! Thumbs up for these three ladies and the Fretex team that makes secondhand and designer clothes affordable and available.

Moods of Norway and Polhem PR invited to a press breakfast at the hotel The Thief at Tjuvholmen in Oslo on Wednesday 17th of April. Moods of Norway's AW 2013 collection is named Fiddlers & Waltzers - with 'celebration' as the main theme.

- The clothes represents the people above and below deck at Titanic, my favourite movie, designer Simen Staalnacke said.

More expensive materials and needlework has been important in the male Fiddlers & Waltzers collection. Tweed, rough chinos, hand washed Italian denim (done by one man only!), 100 % merino, colored sneakers, detailed linings, tailored suits and leather jackets are essential features in the male collection. Also, funny and personal messages are stitched on the inside of the blazers, like "Made with love by really really pretty blonde girls". Each suit is also named after persons living in Stryn in Norway - where the brand was started.

For women, sharp colors like burnt orange, purple and wine tones creates exciting color combinations. The signature feature is a pattern with cocktail glasses. Shimmer and sequins for party, and denim and knit for every day is vital. To get a rougher look, you can wear a suede bomber jacket, parka, washed jeans, sweaters with metallic yarn and knits with surface coatings. Wool, angora and alpaca are important materials. The party section consists of blazers with sharp cuts and smoking shapes.

The Cocktail Sports collection includes higly technical garments. The pieces are waterproof and breathable. A water repellent parka has 360 degrees visibility with reflectors around the whole jacket, and is therefore certified after European standards. The styling is urban with strong, fresh and happy colors. Light wool pieces, underwear, ski googles and complete ski outfits, make you look super fresh and cool at afterski!

Exclusive rings designed by Heyerdahl.

VIP Magasinet invited to a luxurious fashion lunch at Mona Lisa Huset in Oslo, Tuesday 16th of April. Juweler Heyerdahl presented necklaces, rings and earrings from the Danish brand Julie Sandlau, Italian brand Al Coro and one-of-a-kind pieces from Heyerdahl. The extravagant diamond floral bracelet is worth approx. 33 000 dollars (188 000 NOK) - and is uniquely designed by Heyerdahl.

- If people in Norway buy jewels in genuine materials, it's eco-friendly and last longer. 60 percent of what is sold from jewelers is made from recycled materials. Sustainability and natural materials is key. People are more concerned with ethics and morality than before, says CEO Thomas Heyerdahl.

This spring and summer, he tells that large earrings and many bracelets at one arm are trendy. Characteristic green emerald is also popular, together with dark blue gemstones. Diamonds are always trendy and sought-after. The interest for individual jewels is also keen, and Heyerdahl offers individual orders for self-designed items. They recently hosted a wedding ring workshop, where two couples made their own rings from scratch. Very romantic for them, and exciting for Heyerdahl to involve the costumers in the design process.

- It's a trend in Europe with red gold, also called rosé gold, with a more red and pink shine, instead of yellow, Thomas Heyerdahl adds. He also wants to see Norwegians embrace this trend.

The jewels are a perfect match with Kathrine Nørgård's sophisticated dresses and tailored suits. Nørgård makes clothes on request, designed with a personal touch. She also makes two prêt-à-porter collections annually. She revealed that she the coming fall will launch a collection in collaboration with another brand - which is still a secret.

The jewels and clothes were presented with delicious tapas from Mona Lisa Huset. Fashion Editor in VIP Magasinet, Navraj Kaur, organized a stylish and elegant fashion lunch.

Are you attending any weddings, christenings or stylish parties this spring or summer? Or do you just simply love dressing up - looking glamorous? If yes, the limited H&M Conscious Exclusive collection most likely has your dream dress. On Thursday 4th of April, H&M in Bogstadveien in Oslo invited to a pre-shopping breakfast for early birds.

The dresses of this collections are simply unique. The mint green tulle/corset dress has been the most popular piece, especially after singer Bertine Zetlitz wore it at the Norwegian music awards "Spellemannsprisen". It´s simply breathtaking. This collection also includes suits and jackets for men, in addition to shoes and accessories. H&M Conscious Exlusive collection is inspired by the 1930´s movie stars in Hollywood, with sophisticated and dramatic dresses with clean cuts. The male collection has a vintage look with "rocked out" details - like fringes on a blazer.

Press manager Kristin Fjeld for H&M in Norway, emphasized the "green" and sustainable materials like organic cotton, Tencel and recycled polyamide and polyester. H&M wishes to make sustainable fashion available for a good price. They are the leading manufacturer in the world when it comes to use of recycled cotton. They have an ethical, sustainable and energy efficient production and recycling process. In the near future, they want to use only renewable energy with zero emissions. Recently, they became the first brand in the world to set up recycling stations where you can put your old H&M clothes!

H&M Consscious Exclusive Collection is only for sale in Oslo at Majorstuen in Bogstadveien 11 and online on H&M.com.

P.S: The sizes are smaller than normal, so it's smart to choose one or two sizes larger than you normally use.

My new best friend in the closet!

WOW store in Stockholm: WOS accessories

Great discoveries have been made through the ages by people walking at random. That´s the best shopping trick in big cities - especially in Stockholm. My sister and I had an unforgettable trip the first weekend of this Easter, and we found a wonderful accessory shop named WOS at Södermalm.

The selection and interior design is very trendy, and make butteflies tickle in your stomach. In the beautiful shop with the address Hornsgatan 98, you´ll find a selection of items from designers worldwide.

At their website, I read that the two women Jenny Widing and Ulrika Stöllman started this shop, with the specific name WOS - Widing o Stöllmans accessoarer. Widing has been working for H&M for a long time, and she also worked for the "Sex and the City" stylist Patricia Field. Now, Jenny and Ulrika leads their own brand WOS in their shop. The store offers unique necklaces, belts, earrings, shoes, handbags and other wonders. Take the subway to Zinkensdamm and just walk from there to shopping bliss...
