Lilac and Lilies Fashion Show 2012

The trendy boutique, Lilac and Lilies, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida hosted a fashion show during the 100 Outstanding Women of Broward County event. The line-up consisted of playful ensembles featuring several of the designers sold at Michelle DiMarco’s store. Famous labels include Nicole Richie’s House of Harlow 1960 Jewelry Collection, Black Halo, Blank NYC, J Brand, Charlie Jade, and Yumi Kim, just to name a few. South Florida models donned daytime and evening looks full of bright colors, sexy sheer fabrics, and sweet eyelets. Miami stylist, Anthony Bermudez, accessorized the girls to perfection with beaded jewelry, essential handbags, and stellar platform pumps and sandals. Kaizen Beauty Academy provided hair and makeup for the show, polishing models with voluminous curls and sultry cat-eye makeup. Besides the fashion show, the event also recognized outstanding women in the area and held auctions to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County. Fashion Bloggers Do It Better

Ricochet Bar and Lounge hosted the “Fashion Bloggers Do It Better” event for passionate Miami fashionistas. Besides specialty-made cocktails that supported The Goodwill Project, other sponsors added entertaining activities for guests. The Blow-Dry Bar set up a braiding-bar for complimentary hair braids for ladies; while Ready-Set-Cupcake provided delicious mini-cupcakes, made-to-order for ultimate freshness. Local designers set up pop-up shops for attendees to try-out the latest merchandise from Fake Frivolity, Gold Saturn, Betsy Moss, and N&K Designs. One of the most interactive spots at the event was the Instagram photo booth, complete with props and signs. Miami style fanatics not only had the opportunity to network with other bloggers in the area but also enjoy a night filled with tasty treats, new fashion finds, and a personalized photo to capture it all.

Maserati Miami Beach Polo World Cup 2012

The Maserati sponsored Polo World Cup commenced in Miami Beach, Florida for three days of competition matches and evening events. Sporting enthusiasts have been attending the weekend’s festivities for eight years in a row with this year’s attendees growing to over 7,500 for the three day period. The world’s top polo players arrived from around the globe, traveling from Zambia, Brazil, Italy, Malaysia, and Argentina, competing in 14 matches, and using over 100 polo horses each day.

The Polo Life founder described how this year’s event was the most talked about, receiving tremendous positive feedback from sponsors, players, and spectators alike. Besides luxury car manufacturer, Maserati, other sponsors included HEYS USA Group, La Martina, Don Miguel Gascón Winery, Triumph Motorcycles, The Raleigh, Ciroc, Lufthansa Private Jets, Bulgari and Esquire magazine. Maria Lepe Cinco de Mayo Fashion Show 2012

Designer Maria Lepe presented her collection of Mexican-inspired creations at the Shelborne Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida in celebration of the Mexican holiday, Cinco de Mayo. This was the third anniversary of the May 5th fashion show, and the designer explained how the event has grown immensely since its debut in 2009. Models walked the runway in sheer lace skirts and cover-ups, traditionally printed shawls and capes, and unique wrap-around swimwear. Neon hued bikinis and accessories added a vibrant touch to the show’s ensembles. Erik Bello presented hand-made accessories, decorating the girls in palm crafted earrings and bangles, mini-sombrero hats, and colorful collars and bauble necklaces. Blank Silk by Meghan Walsh Fashion Show 2012

Designer Meghan Walsh presented her collection, Blank Silk, for a private event during the Miami Beach Polo World Cup. Maserati and Bulgari sponsored the evening soirée for the Indian-inspired line of women’s apparel held at the Perry Hotel in beautiful South Beach. Walsh’s culturally rich line features intricate patterns in breezy neutrals and earth toned hues, luxurious organza, silk, and chiffon fabrics, and body-hugging silhouettes. The pieces for the runway show were full of elegance and sophistication with sexy details like plunging necklines or delicate sheer overlays. Walsh draws her creative motivation from 20’s and 30’s style fashion as well as India’s customary fabrications and embellishments. Last week I had the pleasure of viewing Oliver Sweeney upcoming Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, Oliver Sweeney continue to offer a great range of shoes for different occasions and individuals, good to see the brand implementing new designs/prints without moving away from minimalistic look they’re known for.

The surprise of the day was the leather gloves above, to the untrained eye they look like regular leather gloves but they actually work with touch phones perfectly. A great addition to the line,essential accessory to all iPhones/iPad fanatics when the weather gets frosty.

The in-house tattooist was tattooing a bag for the first time but currently you can pretty much have anything you desire on the shoe, from initials to London skyline. Great way to customise your shoe of choice.

The agnès b. press breakfast took place yesterday showcasing pieces from the upcoming collection, all the photos featured on the clothes were captured by Agnes personally from her journeys around the world.

The reversible African print parka caught my eye, there’s an all-over print on the other side.

Gloverall duffle coat, great detailing. Made in London.

Debuted in 2001, the “my bag” combined practicality and design with space for all the essentials and as expected continues to be a best-seller. The “my bag” project gives 10 artists around the world the opportunity to create collector editions bags, with limited production of 150 each. All proceeds of the sales will be donated to charities in the respected artists countries.

BCBG Max Azria Spring 2012 Campaign

BCBG Max Azria featured models Daniela Mirzac and Theres Alexandersson for their spring 2012 ad campaign. Camilla Akrans photographed the brand’s latest designs against turquoise backgrounds, both in studio and on location. Styled by Laura Ferrara, this high-energy shoot was filled with billowing geometrically printed dresses off-set by minimalistic accessories. The new collection consists of simple shift dresses, complete with provocative slits and pulsating color-blocking hues. The images captured on location were action-packed, highlighting the fullness and transparency of BCBG’s spring ensembles. To add to the intensity, the model’s locks were painted a brilliant shade of purple, completely fitting to the campaign’s striking qualities and catch-phrase “elevate your look”. The May 2012 issue of Marie Claire US features a stunning editorial starring the lovely Felicity Jones. Laura Ferrera styled the British beauty in this spring looks provided by Dolce & Gabbana. Photographer Marcus Ohlsson captured Jones’ dreamy gazes amidst the whitewashed color palette and finely textured ensembles. The featured pieces from Dolce & Gabbana have a retro feel that is elegant and refined, this is evident in the arm-length gloves and bow-toped lace flats. The new spring campaign for Cynthia Rowley features the model Kristina Kulyk in floral delight with new pieces from the designer’s collection. Tim Barber photographed the advertisement that will make its first appearance in the summer issue for T Magazine. Rowley’s latest designs are full of abstract watercolor prints and vibrant floral motifs. Skirts, dresses, and blouses are full of volume and crafted in bountiful layers. In addition to the brilliant prints, hues are diluted neutral tones or rich blues, browns, and crimson shades. The new collection has an easy feeling; this is evident in shift style silhouettes, layered tunics, or tie-wasted dresses. Giant bow accents add drama and a playful attitude, especially when paired with translucent plastic belts or calf-wrapping sandals. Coachella’s Best Dressed Attendees

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival kicked off the first of two music filled weekends last Friday. Performers and attendees alike were preparing for the non-stop festivities in the California desert where fashion plays a role just as important as the lineup itself. Brands have been getting more involved with the festival each year by hosting luxury parties, special live performances, and backstage lounge areas, proving that fashion and music really go hand-in-hand.

Mulberry was a popular brand for celebrity visitors; showing off wide brimmed hats, sheer floral motifs, denim cut-offs and layers of metal and beaded jewelry. H&M Spring 2012 Conscious Collection

Earlier this month, H&M unveiled its plans to offer a new Conscious Collection in the hopes of establishing a more sustainable fashion future. Having already designed eco-friendly glamorous gowns for Exclusive Conscious, the innovative brand now spreads these practices on to their ready-to-wear offerings. The latest line at H&M utilizes various sustainable materials for garment production, including organic cotton, hemp, and recycled polyester. The new spring campaign for Conscious was photographed by the talented Terry Richardson among scenic tropical garden surroundings. George Cortina styled the well-known models, Constance Jablonski, EditaVilkeviciute, Toni Garrn, and KarmenPedaru, as they showcased pastel prints, soft pinks, and elegant lavender and lime dresses. The flirty quartet demonstrates the wearability and ease of the Conscious collection during the evening setting, making it impossible to notice that these fashionable ensembles are all made from sustainable materials. Canoe’s AW12 Press Day

Yesterday Fashion One visited the Canoe PR Press Day at the Vinyl Factory, we had a look on what’s coming from their clients. Canoe represent a wide range of clients from Jansport to Evisu. Here’s a glimpse of what was shown on the day:

Vans

Shown above are previously retired prints brought back and they still look great in the present day. There’s also a wide-range of Premium shoes on show, from Vans OTW and Vans Vault range which feature high-quality leather. There was something for everyone, even spotted a Hello Kitty collaboration.

Bench

Checked out Bench which have significantly changed, focusing on the design and letting the clothes speak for the brand. The solid collection featured many distinctive pieces, and promising Women’s line. Excited to see where the new direction will take them.

Evisu

Canoe’s newest client, Evisu. Personal favorite is the weekender bag, which was big enough to fit more than enough stuff for a summer holiday.

Puma

Puma and Alexander McQueen continue their sucessful line of footwear, the recognisable Puma features are mixed with luxe materials you would expect from the label. The Union-Jack High-Top’s stood out, great way to support during London Olympics.

The two Women editions feature Missoni’s signature zig-zag raschel knit and Unisex shoe with multi-stitch space-dyed cotton.
