Olivia Munn was born on July 2, 1982, in Oklahoma. Her parents divorced while she was still a toddler, and Olivia was soon forced to adopt a nomadic existence after her mother married a man in the Air Force. Although the clan moved from base to base, Olivia spent the majority of her adolescence in the Shinjuku district of Tokyo, Japan. Olivia’s passion for the entertainment world has been in place virtually since childhood, and the would-be performer took her first steps toward a career in the spotlight by appearing in a number of local theater productions.

Olivia Munn’s growing confidence was cemented once she hit puberty, as the young girl soon found herself blessed with the sort of looks that cause men to stop and stare. She parlayed her beauty into a burgeoning career as a model within the Japanese fashion industry, though it became increasingly clear to Olivia that she wanted to do more with her life than just pose for the cameras. Like the fashion of all modern decades, 1980s fashion in popular culture incorporated distinct trends from different eras. This helped form a cultivating movement of style. . The most conservative, more masculine fashion look that was most indicative of the 1980s was the wide use of shoulder pads. While in the 1970s the silhouette of fashion tended to be characterized by close fitting clothes on top with wider, looser clothes on the bottom, this trend completely reversed itself in the early 1980s as both men and women began to wear looser shirts and tight, close-fitting pants. Men wore power suits as a result of the greater tendency for people to display their wealth. Brand names became increasingly important in this decade, making Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein household names. In the United States, Madonna was titled the “Material Girl” and many teenage girls looked to her for fashion statements. The popular movie Flashdance (1983) made ripped sweatshirts well-known in the general public. The television shows Dallas and Dynasty also had a similar impact.

New romanticism emerged in the UK music scene in the early 80s as a direct backlash against the austerity of the punk movement. Leggings were also very popular.

Leg warmers, which had long been staple gear for professional dancers during rehearsals, became a teen trend in 1982. Miniskirts returned for the first time since the early 1970s. These styles became associated with the Valley Girl trend that was popular at the time, based on a popular song by Frank Zappa and Moon Unit Zappa. The other fads soon spent themselves, but miniskirts remained in style and became an option for women’s business suits throughout the ‘eighties and early 1990s with dolly shoes. Frequently, these mini skirts were worn with leggings.

Shoulder pads, popularized perhaps by Linda Evans from the soap opera Dynasty, remained popular throughout the 1980s and even the first three years of the 1990s. The reason behind the sudden popularity of shoulderpads for women in the 1980s may be that women in the workplace were no longer unusual, and wanted to “power dress” to show that they were the equals of men at the office. Many women’s outfits had velcro on the inside of the shoulder where various sized shoulderpads could be attached.

The Dynasty television show, watched by over 250 million viewers around the world in the 1980s, influenced the fashion styles in mainstream America. The show, targeted towards females, influenced women to wear jewelry often to show one’s economic status. Synthetic fabrics went out of style in the 1980s. Wool, cotton, and silk returned to popularity for their perceived quality.

Men’s business attire saw a return of pinstripes for the first time since the 1970s. The new pinstripes were narrower and subtler than 1930s and 1940s suits but similar to the 1970s styles. Three piece suits gradually went out of fashion in the early ‘eighties and lapels on suits became very narrow (similar to 1950s styles). While vests in the 1970s had commonly been worn high with six or five buttons, those made in the early 1980s often had only four buttons and were made to be worn low. Neckties also became narrower in the 1980s and skinny versions appeared in leather. Button down collars made a return, both for business and casual wear.

Meanwhile women’s fashion and business shoes returned to styles that had been popular in the 1950s and early 1960s with pointed toes and spiked heels. Some stores stocked canvas or satin covered fashion shoes in white and dyed them to the customer’s preferred color. While the most popular shoes amongst young women were bright colored high heels, a trend started to emerge which saw ‘Jellies’ - colorful, transparent plastic flats - become popular.

Victoria Beckham is one of those celebrities that everybody both loves and hates. Vic established herself as the cool and calm girl in the now-defunct girl group Spice Girls. She added to the cool girl persona with her excellent taste in clothes. Even after the Spice Girls demise, Posh kept on shining in the limelight. Two things kept her there, she is married to David Beckham and she is extremely stylish.

Since the Spice Girls disbanded, Victoria Beckham dabbled with a rather unsuccessful solo singing career, a stint as a talk show host, and an attempt at writing a book. It does sometimes seem as if Victoria has no real talent to offer. She is a great mother to her three children and it seems a lovely wife. This changed when she designed a very cool limited jeans line for Rock Republic. We are well down the road from the launch date, but Harvy Nichols is still selling dVB’s like crazy.

The 5th of September 2008 year not only ushered in the New York Fashion Week, but also the birth of a new Victoria Beckham as couture designer extraordinaire. In a private showing at the Waldorf Hotel in Park Avenue, Victoria Beckham unveiled her debut fashion collection under her own label, VB, to a select group of retailers and fashion editors.

The word of the day was ‘classy’, and that was exactly what Victoria Beckham’s pieces were! All 10 of her original designs showed the designer’s partiality to fitted dresses with raised waistlines and mid-calf lengths - the same styles that she’s been sporting lately to great effect.

Victoria Beckham’s use of fabrics like silk, organza, and wool was impressive, but it was her attention to detail that had spectators reeling with admiration. Not only do her designs look tasteful, she’s also taken measures to avoid vulgar wardrobe malfunctions with such subtle details like inner grosgrain waistbands and folded tucks along the bustline, to name a few. Indeed, Victoria Beckham knows all about the subtle nuances of wearing a dress - like what makes it photograph well, or how to make a corset bearable for hours on end - and she’s sharing her expertise to all and sundry, a gesture that’s not lost to fans and critics alike.

It goes without saying that the first VB collection was very well received, and has already been taken on by Harvey Nichols, while negotiations are underway between the designer and other retailers. Posh is also currently designing a handbag line for Samantha Tharasa.

Good press, bad press - who cares? Definitely not Victoria Beckham. The collection was very well received. If this is an indication of things to come, VB is set on the road of designer!

Victoria Beckham for Emporio Armani in Macy’s in NY

Pop singer and fashion designer, Victoria Beckham, is a face of underwear ads Emporio Armani, as we know.

She presented the new Emporio Armani sexy women lingerie ad campaign at Macy’s in New York’s Herald Square, on May 6.

The ad is very hot, Vikki stood in lacy lingerie set complete with a long ponytail instead of her pixie cut.

The latest images are part of a series of photoshots, largely featuring a solo Victoria, taken by popular fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.

For presentation Posh Spice prefered to wear in sparkly dark leggings, a plunging top and sporting tousled hair and posed against the 20-foot tall image of herself.

In the past, Mrs Beckham has beefed she ‘looks really awful naked’, adding:

I’ve got so much saggy skin on my stomach.’

Buyers who spent $85 or more on the women’s lingerie line had the unique chance to have their photograph taken with Victoria Beckham during a VIP meet-and-greet.

Victoria signed a £12million three-year deal late 2008, with Italian designer Giorgio Armani who delivered a eulogy for her as an ‘intriguing woman’.

Before her own deal, her hubby David Beckham’s made £20million to become the new global ambassador of the fashion house in 2007. The ad campaign has already seen her husband David posing in briefs.

Victoria Beckham will be showing off her sexy body for Armani until 2012.
