2013 is all about the autumnal palette. Oranges, lush greens and earthy tones are back in season! Think quirky prints and fur trims and neutral or a tinge of animal print in your heels!

I am in love with this Carolina Herrera dress worn by one of my favourite fashion icons, Camilla Belle. I think the orange and green is a great contrast but very flattering for olive/mediterranean skin.

Think Victorian lady explorers in Africa such as Mary Kingsley for inspiration, seamless elegance and neutral soft fabric.

Perennial look is simple and demure and you can’t go wrong with this look in 2013.

After going to Fashion Exposed in Melbourne, I was lucky to be able to listen to Jen Sherrin from WGSN, the world leader in fashion trend forecasting, and get insights into the 2013 fashion trend.

Fashion does get recycled and revamped and it is also one of the reasons why it is so hard to throw away that polka dot shoe. “One day I will wear it” you say and that one day is now because 2013 is embracing the 60’s metropolist trend. Think french icons Jane Berkin for inspiration.

Think clean & simple silhouettes, black and whites, big glasses, shift dresses, boxy jackets – there are so much to play around with.

Twiggy was the most popular fashion model of the 60’s era, she was known for her “pixie look” – which included shift dresses, ballet flats, “cigarette” pants and an extremely cropped haircut.

Brigitte Bardot is also a fashion icon inspiration – she was the ultimate pin-up girl.  She was made famous for the Bardot neckline – a wide open neck exposing your shoulders.

Lastly, Audrey Hepburn with her timeless & classy look made famous by Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

While you may not want to look like you just stepped out of the 60’s, adding a touch of the 60’s fashion can add a new twist to your wardrobe in 2013.

New Year brings so much hope. New starts, new resolutions, new goals, new dreams & new heels.

Looking back at 2012, It was a big year for us. FassionCave was launched and many shoe parties celebrated and new shoes bought.

Here are the highlights & lessons in 2012 for us:

1. Although we are a purely online business, we realise the importance of the physical joys of shopping. So we introduced “Shoe Parties” in which the host invites her friends for a party with food, drinks and ofcourse shoe shopping at home. We will do more of this so please register your interest by contacting us.

2. We know that our customers deserve only the best in quality and comfort. We are not like any other shop, we believe in the quality and craftmanship of our products.

So we will endeavour to source more of the shoes that you want and will always want to wear every season.

3. We realise that more and more people prefer online shopping for convenience. We will continue to provide good service and great deals and irresistible cave deals for the smart shopper.

It was a big year for the team, major life changes and milestones and from all of us at FassionCave – we want to extend our thanks to you. For your support throughout the year.

Jelly shoes are one of the biggest trends of the season. If you want to add some much needed colour to your to your wardrobe, then these are the best way to do it. The coolest jellies come in an array of sherbet colours and feminine styles. You can find bubblegum pink lace pumps, or strappy ice blue sandals. A jelly shoe is a great way to update your wardrobe this summer without spending too much money.

The great thing about pastel jelly shoes is that they can go with anything. They look great with both sundresses and cropped jeans. They can go from the beach to the pub with no problem. Pair your shoes with white capri jeans and a poplin halter top for a great party look. However, you could even wear them with a strapless black dress for a new take on the classic look. There are many different styles of jellies that will make your summer look complete. You should buy at least one sandal, and a heel to keep your options open. Jellies should also be in fun colours. You do not want some drab colour that does not stand out. Think wild and zany when picking a style. The funkier your jelly shoe the better!

Jellies are great summer shoes because they are easy to wear and waterproof. They are ideal for the beach because you can rinse the sand off and continue with your day. Who knows when a house party will end up at the beach? You do not want to be in your good suede heels when that happens because they will be ruined the minute you step on the sand. Jelly shoes are the best choice for a summer shoe because you never know where life might take you!

Women and men have worn shoes and high heels as a symbol for power and royalty and more openly since the sexual revolution.

Through time, shoes is one of the most loved accessory but on hindsight it is also one of the most things that we take for granted.

Think about it, they are the ones that step onto dirt, get scratched and step into things thay are not supposed to step on…

Shoes protect our feet and are there to serve us and shield us from the outside world. But as shoes protect our feet, sometimes shoes can do harm to the health of our feet. Namely wearing stilettos can cause varicose veins and calf muscle pains. But women despite on all these health warnings still wear sky high platforms. For reasons such as social pressure, tools of attraction or just a satisfaction of the inner psyche.

And choosing the right shoes for the right feet is essential to our health and well-being. Make sure that the shoes you wear are not too tight or too lose. Note that there are different rules for leather or non leather shoes. Leather shoes expand so its just normal for them to feel snug on your foot and after a few wears they will be a perfect fit. Non-leather on the other hand must fit well at first try.

The most comfortable heels must be 4cm high , anything over that (if there is no platform to support it) can be uncomfortable. Also to know if shoes are good quality, you can pinch the back of the shoe or try tiptoeing , if they are very hard then most likely they will hurt but if they are flexible then it will be more comfortable as they follow the normal movement of the feet.

Wearing the right shoes for the right feet is just a simple step in saying thank you to your shoes and for your shoes to extend their thanks to you.

Gone were the days when ridiculous foot binding, sky high platforms or killer shoes were worn to represent beauty or status. Nowadays, women seek comfort more than anything else. To launch the birth of FassionCave, we decided to host a family and friends event in a form of a Shoe Party. I have never heard of this word myself, in fact I envisioned that it would be a perfect idea to hold a party that includes food, drinks, music and shopping.

We were lucky to find a venue at Oxford Hotel that accomodated 50 guests in a beautiful sunken cellar. The feeling that I  got from this venue is “cave-like” with its stone walls and that feeling of discovery as soon as you go downstairs. It was the perfect venue albeit the weekend band and dim lighting – it gave such a fun and vibrant atmosphere.

FassionCave Shoe Party Video

FassionCave hopes that this is a start of something great. I would like to extend my thanks to the guests, friends and family that supported us and made it such an event to remember.

We had a great party and looking forward to having more celebratory events in the future.

It was a beautiful and sunny day in Perth, Australia yesterday and how lucky are we to have the photoshoot planned on this day after a long week of cold and stormy weather.

We wanted to showcase our models with their smart workwear as well as casual weekend look to complement FassionCave’s heels and boots to wear for work and play.

Kate is wearing the Ramarim leather heels in Guava and Lyella is wearing the Ramarim leather heels in teal. I love how the shoes lift and compliment their workwear.

It has been cold and rainy in Perth, Australia this past week. Infact, all I can think about is piling on layers and layers of clothing, socks and hibernating in my bed under my sheets.

Looking at the positive side, the dreary dull weather is an opportunity for fashionistas! Lets beat the dark, dull winter with colours!

I must admit, that I love jewel tones and I’m quite pleased to see these colours have come out for the winter season.
