Q&A - Pedometers

Does it matter where the pedometer is placed or attached?
The HJ-150 and 151 Pedometer must be positioned correctly. Attach the unit to your belt or to the top of your waistband. The unit must be horizontal to the ground in order for the unit to function correctly. The HJ-112 and HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometer can also be placed in your pocket or purse.
What's the accuracy rate of Omron pedometers?
The precision of the step counting is within +/- 5%.
What are moderate steps?
At least 30 minutes of moderate exercise is recommended each day. The HJ-151 Pedometer separately displays the steps and minutes walked at a moderate pace.
What are aerobic steps?
The HJ-112 and HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometer separately displays aerobic steps and minutes that start counting after 10 minutes of continuous walking with more than 60 steps a minute.
How does the PC software work?
The HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometer includes PC software for Windows 2000 or XP. It keeps track of daily, weekly, monthly and yearly progress.

I really like this pedometer. I tried the 'classic pendelum swing' type, and it wasn't accurate at all. I've tested this one and found it to be quite accurate and helpful. It is nice because it can clip on or be put in your pocket, and it works either way.

I'm in sales -- I'm all about quota and "making my numbers".

I am also very glad I didn't review this as soon as I got it. It's not the easiest to set up. I got it, opened it and put in the battery and put it aside. The directions don't flow and it took my techie hubby to bail me out-- and only after several tries. My first thought was to send it back. So, to avoid my frustration-- put the battery in only when you are ready to set it up.

But now, I am in love. The goal is 10K steps a day or 5 miles. They add up. Doing laundry, making the bed and breakfast, etc etc added about a mile. Then I went for my 3 mile walk. My walk has markers and I found it to be accurate. Then it was a birthday celebration and I had a larger meal than usual. So instead of the 10K steps, I walked around my pool several steps. It's 6PM and I'm at 15K, and feeling light (vs fat) from the meal.

These steps add up, to and fro the shop center parking lot is 75 steps each way. How easy is this-- you overeat a bit so step it up! It's only easy cause you can see your progress.

K-- skip the harness. It comes with a string already and the bundled harness is $3 and they're gonna charge you shipping. I was discouraged reading the other reviews-- some saying "get something more serious" at this price? But next one will be a watch, waterproof at that. You need pockets for this. You can put it in your purse, but I don't take my purse in sales calls.

So, I learned about pedometers, quotas and after one day-- feel great. I'm addicted! It keeps me moving-- did I mention I'm in sales and love improving my numbers?

I am very pleased with this Pedometer. It's simple and yet provides adequate information for a daily walking regimen. Experts say that one should walk 10,000 steps a day, which translates in to about 5 miles. I usually end up with 5,000 steps but with this device I know I can get to my goals easier.

This product is very good for those that are on a budget. It cheap and is effective for someone who is either beginning a supplement program or for those who are trying to maintain gains or leanness. I don't believe this product would help hardcore bodybuilders and those looking for major gains quickly. As for my personal experience with this product. I noticed that I got a bit leaner with taking this product and my strength increased a little from a month ago. Granted have been working out pretty hard to get ready for the summer season.....so that does also play in as a factor. But I would say the ON whey has help a bit in my quest for the "beach body." I would also say that combined with ON Casein in a supplement program ON Whey has help me recover a bit quicker after a hard work out that I would otherwise. That is an important factor for a somewhat older guy (late 30's.) I like to get out of bed in the morning and not feel like I just work out a hour ago. So high marks in aiding recovery.
Mixing and taste. On Whey is easy to mix with all types of methods. Whether it with blender, shaker, even with a spoon, I had no problem with mixing it. As for taste and consistency. It's very light when mixed with water and taste pretty good with it. Though it does leave a slightly funny after taste. But I prefer a heavier consistency. so I mix it with milk. And as far as I'm concerned it tastes great with no after taste.
So over all a good solid product. The only reason why I don't give it 5 stars is that this product does not produce big gains in strength or in size.

"I Wonder Why Dentists Didn't Tell Me About This?" 2010-06-03

Over the years I have gone to probably a dozen different dentists in several states as I have moved around, and I've spent quite a bit of money on their services. One of my problems has been that I hate to floss, and this has cost me dearly. If only I could find a way to clean between my teeth, but not hate it like I hate flossing! Guess what? Here it is!

After reading several dozens of reviews about this product, and being amazed at the extremely high percentage of positive reviews (probably the highest for any product I've researched on Amazon), I decided to get one of these and try it out. Not wanting to wait, I went out and bought it at the largest big box chain in the world (you know of whom I speak :) It was twelve bucks more expensive than on Amazon, but if I hadn't been in a hurry I would have ordered it here.

Anyway, once home I read the directions (not much there), plugged it in, added water, set the power control on "5" and put it to work. Keep in mind that I had my regular dental cleaning two weeks earlier, and had just rinsed my mouth out with warm water several times before trying this Waterpik, so I didn't expect much to happen, if anything at all.

I was stunned at what came out! It was clear that I had made a very good purchase...

About the unit itself: many other reviews mentioned the many accessories that come with this unit and how most of them are useless; I agree. I use the 'basic' waterjet fitting, the clear one, and that's probably the only one I'll ever use. The others are more specialized, such as people who have braces, deep gum pockets, dirty tongues, etc. But I might try the toothbrush fitting someday.

I started with the power setting in the middle at '5' and it worked amazingly well, as previously mentioned. I'm dubious about the need to go for the higher settings, with some reviews stating that the highest setting could take paint off old furniture. I just want to clean below my gum lines, not remove them! Eventually I'll try a setting-or-two higher, but my results indicate that it may not be necessary to do the job. Plus, apparently, the higher the setting, the faster you will run out of water in the smallish 20 oz. tank.

To use, fill the tank with 'lukewarm' water, according to the directions, and have at. At the '5' setting the water seems to last maybe a minute, give-or-take (I haven't timed it). After using the Waterpik for a week now, a minute works out just fine, but when first starting out, I had to refill it one or two times. Now, one tank fill is all I need. Some mentioned that you'll get wet, and if you're not careful, you will. Just remember this: water is going into your mouth; unless you plan to swallow all of it, then it's gonna come back out, right? Lean over the sink when you use this Waterpik and you'll be just fine. Or, stand up straight, complain that the coiled tubing is too short, and let water run down your chest and arm. When using this product, common sense is optional, but highly recommended.

I used to use a peroxide-based whitening rinse between flossing and brushing, so now instead of using it like mouthwash before brushing, I just add the same amount to the water as I fill the Waterpik tank, and it makes the cleaning experience even better! However, remember that some chemicals may slowly cause damage to internal components of the Waterpik (which ones? I don't know!), so if I add any type of mouthwash or whatever to the water, I rinse the tank out, and run one-half a tank of plain water through the system to rinse it out. Just in case. This should lengthen the life of the unit, I hope.

It is a little loud, since it uses a small motor to run a small pump, but I've never used any previous Waterpik units to compare it to, so all I can say is that I don't find it excessively loud. But it might be loud enough to disturb a partner who is sleeping. I put a dry folded washcloth under it to dampen the noise somewhat, and it helps. But I live alone so I don't have to worry about it.

Do yourself a huge favor and buy one of these! And *especially* if you have kids, buy one for them too!

I hesitated before buying this because there was only one review on amazon and mixed reviews elsewhere, but I'm glad I tried it. The pills last for 2 weeks, during which time the instructions encourage you to eat lots of fruits and veggies with lean meats added in if need be. I'm a mom of two busy kids and a hungry husband, so although we always incorporated those foods into our meals, I also ate carbs and other foods throughout the whole period (mostly whole wheat breads and pastas--for the most part there was little to no junk food). But even while eating all of this I lost a solid 3 to 4 pounds during the process, that I stil have not gained back 3 months later now. It was my first time ever doing any kind of detox, so I really do think (and hope) that the weight I shed was the excess gunk that had built up in my system all my life. As the other reviewer had said, I also felt that the pills worked somewhat as a laxative. I was already pretty "regular" but these pills made me have to go to the bathroom at least twice as much. Not to get too specific, but it may help to know that stools were always soft and sometimes loose, but never "explosive." Overall I liked the product, and I'll probably do it twice a year from now on (it tells you to wait at least a month before doing it again). I gave it 4 out of 5 stars simply because the semi-frequent loose stools did leave me feeling a bit raw at the end of the two week period.

Nature's Secret Acia Power Berry Pure Body Cleanse is a good product. It seems to act somewhat like a laxative for me. I choose to eat fresh fruits and vegetables while taking it since my job is hands on and I need a lot of energy. It helps me feel full, therefore I stop eating a lot sooner than I used to. I have lost about 6 pounds while taking it and my body feels like it flushed out (no pun intended :) haha) some of the toxins. I would recommend it to someone who doesn't eat a lot of junk food. I don't eat a lot of junk food, therefore I could've cared less if I ate fresh fruit and vegetables for two weeks. When I took it before eating breakfast in the morning it made my stomach growl but not hurt from hunger pains. Maybe the growls were the pills working.

I work in a high stress job and have been steadily gaining weight for the last 5 years. My biggest problem was that I never felt full. I could eat half a large pizza by myself and still not feel full. Since I started taking body choice weight loss, I now feel full. I can still choose to overeat, but I do have a stopping point that I must make a conscious effort to cross. I think this fact more than any other has helped me lose weight. Also, I used to get sick with colds and sinus infections 3 to 4 times during the fall and winter. I'm now down to 0 or 1 time a year. Even if it is not helping me lose weight, it has helped my overall health, and I like it. It tastes good so I remember to take it more often than regular pill vitamins. I find this is a very helpful product to reduce food cravings. I don't really follow the directions to take it before meals. I tend to take it between meals because I find that it helps suppress my appetite so that I can go longer without eating, or I can just eat less. I go through phases where I think about food virtually all of the time. Now when that happens, I drink one ounce of Body Choice and I find I can go several hours without thinking about food. It isn't cheap, but it's well worth it for that alone. It has helped me stick to a diet and it has helped me maintain my target weight when not dieting. I don't think this product alone will cause much weight loss, but it's appetite suppressant properties make it far easier to make healthier eating decisions.

Don't waste your money....this stuff is garbage. I only write this because I hate to see people waste their money on bad products......so this is just an honest opinion

I'm fairly fit person and I exercise about 5 days a week....but I wanted to shed a few pounds so I used this to help curtail my appetite.

It did not work at all. I track my points through weight watchers....and even tracked my appetite cravings during the day. I tried this product for the full month and it did not work at all.....and I mean I did not notice a single bit of appetite reduction.

Bottom line - don't waste your money. I guess it all goes back to basics......diet and exercise. I was disappointed......oh well.

i bought this same product at costco instead through amazon. anyway, the product does actually contain AUTHENTIC hoodia because i have checked the certification on their website. it does actually curve your apetite-i have noticed that i actually ate less and did not snack as often. moreover, it does not give you caffeine jitters like other diet products. i think i lost around 8 lbs in one week (my diet plan was atkins, body choice hoodia, multivitamin, calcium pyruvate, and light exercise). my mom has also used the product, and she has lost around 2 lbs without altering her lifestyle. yes, you can laze around and still lose weight with this product ONLY TO A CERTAIN EXTENT. like most supplements, they WILL NOT WORK AND YOU WILL NOT LOSE WEIGHT UNLESS you follow a diet and exercise plan.

Scale is easy to use and body fat monitor is really handy. Really simple to use and provides averages over a period of days or weeks. The only reason I took off a star is that the scale really doesn't provide details as to how accurate it is. Most scales will provide an accuracy rating, but this one does not tell you how accurate the body fat monitor is. It *appears* pretty accurate, but I wish I had some hard figures to run with.

Wow, this is so much better than our old body fat scale. The old one would give readings that would swing by 2-3% body fat each time. This one only swings by about 0.1 to 0.3 which is about how much you would expect the body to fluctuate naturally.

Our old one was very complicated to use. Once you have setup your profiles with this one all you do is turn it on, then pickup the sensor part and select your profile number with one press. You then get on the scale, with your arms out straight. It weighs you, then takes about 10 seconds to scan your body with the sensors. Then you press each button to see your reading for each measurement. It couldn't be any easier or any more accurate.

We manually graph our results each time in a spreadsheet so we can see the downward trend of our %Body Fat over the months and years!

Just get it, no need to look any further!

My Shugah Booger bought me this scale and had it sent to me in Iraq as a gift. I was doing cardio and weight training at the same time and had no way to really gauge my progress. Although I was putting in a lot of work, the reading on that old balance beam scale in the gym never seemed to change. I was hoping that I was trading lean muscle mass for body fat but couldn't be sure. With this scale, there is no guesswork. It's about the size of every other bathroom scale. And it wasn't too hard to figure out. I read through the instruction manual in about 30min, stuck the batteries in (batteries came included, how many products do that...), and fired it up. You can use it as a regular bathroom scale and simply measure body weight. Or you can input your body vitals and get readings on BMI, body weight, visceral fat, skeletal muscle, and body age. This was perfect for me because instead of scope locking on weight, I was able to monitor the reduction in my overall bodyfat which is what I really only cared about. It also keeps an historical record every time you step on it. It does daily, weekly, and monthly highs. Also, it can store data for up to four different people. That's good for family or roommmates. I absolutely love this scale. Hands down, it's the best one I've ever owned. Thanks, Baby! I'm fixin' to be the fittest dude in all of Baghdad. 178 days closer to coming home...GET SOME!

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my wife. We both use this item since it can track our individual results. At first, it was confusing to understand the history that was being recorded, but once we had used it for a few weeks, we found that scrolling through history revealed our past recordings. Would recommend weighing around the same time when you desire to record all the areas measured. We noticed that if we took a second recording shortly after the first, there was slight variation in some of the measurements. When multiple people are using this, recommend turning on the scale (a button on the rear of the scale), wait for the display to register, and then select the number corresponding to the person weighing before you step on the scale. We have found that holding the reader at the 90 degree position in measuring BMI, etc. will provide more consistent readings. We avoid keeping this scale in the bathroom to minimize the potential for damage due to high humidity.

I purchased several bottles of these on sale at CVS. I trust the Natrol name and my daughter tested her blood sugar last week and it was 320. Mine was over 200. SO we decided to go on a diet and cut out as much sugar, potatoes as possible. We're both eating better and taking the Carb Intercept as directed. She has now lost 9 pounds. I'm not showing any weight loss but I'm missing half of a double chin. Her blood sugar and mine have both fallen to under 150. I called a few CVS's and had them save the pills for me and I drove 20 miles to get 2 more bottles. We cannot take diet aids that raise BP so these were perfect. I did notice a fiber like laxative effect (hallelulah). I've been on Rx for constipation and even they didn't work. So I'll definitely buy many more bottles of these.

So my daughter would recommend these for weight loss and blood sugar control and I would recommend them as a good laxative. They're worth a try. I have 3 bottles on hand and count myself lucky to have found them on sale.

I bought this product a couple months ago because I was having some constipation issues. After reading the reviews I thought that this product would help me to clean my system and start fresh. I only used the product about 2 weeks consistently. It was working well for me at first but didn't continue to work. I discontinued the use of the product. I did try a couple more times but in total I maybe only used half the bottle. Upon further discussion with my doctor about my issues, I ended up having to have a colonoscopy. The results showed, among other items, that there was damage called melanosis coli. This is caused by herbal laxative abuse. I have never taken any other herbal laxative other than this product. So needless to say, the small exposure I had to this product damaged my colon. I didn't even use it for the time period stated in the dosing instructions. BEWARE of using these types of products!

Some people had complaints about the side effects, truth is ...if you eat a proper diet and take fiber supplements ( suggested by my doctor) everything will be ok. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in February, 2007 approved orlistat capsules (Alli 60 mg. capsule) as an over-the-counter (OTC) weight loss aid for overweight adults, kudos to Bush administration. Prior to this date, orlistat was marketed only as Xenical, the prescription form of the same drug, orlistat. The FDA did a fine job in making orlistat an OTC, ahead of the EU, for instance. Orlistat works by inhibiting the fat-busting enzyme called Lipase in the gut. The "unbusted" fats cannot be absorbed by the body and they find their way into the toilet. In doses of 120 mg. three times a day, 30% of eaten fats will go into the sewer. Less than 2% of the drug gets absorbed in the body so more than 98% of the drug passes in the stools, mostly unchanged. Still not happy?

One might ask what happens to the bad fats in the blood, e.g. bad cholesterol? One can expect lowering of bad cholesterol aka LDL, the lethal variety that makes widows. It does not affect the good cholesterol aka HDL by much but the HDL gets up by exercising, the pill is a good adjunct to 'other things' such as eating healthier foods, not drinking alcohol, exercising, not smoking etc. The pill is taken only with a fatty meal. In other words, if you are eating an apple for lunch, there is no need to waste a capsule there. Many feel that this is an "expensive" capsule. I agree. The sponsor is making a killing over some lousy fat fed to people by way of fast foods, another killing in the first degree. Frankly, a Big Mac should come with one free orlistat. In the global economy, one orlistat should cost no more than 12-15 cents, in my view and they still will make decent profits. I do not know when the patent is up for the generics to plunge in. Hopefully soon.

Administration

Administer during or up to 1 hour after each main meal containing fat.

Precautions:

Fat soluble vitamins also 'get lost' in the process. A multivitamin containing the fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K) should be administered once daily at least 2 hours before or after Alli. Vitamin D deficiency/insufficiency is a common condition as it is (thanks to the deep freeze winters). Orlistat will make this worse. This is especially important in women and is totally preventable. Lack of Vitamin D also causes muscle incoordination besides thin bones thus increasing the chances of fall and fracture, a big deal.

Orlistat is a God sent pill for Type II diabetics. Therapy modification is usually recommended w your doctor.

Orlistat is not recommended for use during pregnancy/lactation and transplant patients.

Drug interactions

If you are taking blood thinners, transplant drugs, or some other prescription meds, you need to talk to your doctor for adjustment. Your pharmacist has a list of these for free.

Drink plenty of water when on orlistat to keep kidneys happy.

For obese kids over 12, consult with your doctor.

Orlistat thus appears to be a safe drug, no lawyer has collected anything on it that I am aware of. Now, that is something.

I had the opportunity to try Xenical first but couldn't get a refill so I started taking Alli, a double dose to equal the prescription. It works but doesn't seem to work as well as the prescription does, even though it is supposed to be the exact same. I lost more weight quicker with Xenical. The product does make you cautious about the fat content you eat becaue, if it isn't stored, there's only one place it can go and it does.

I've only been on this product for 3 wks and I've lost 4 lbs. I like that I don't get the jitters and it really makes me aware of what I eat. I had a bit of gas in the beginning, but now its only once in a while. I didn't have issues of the "oily discharge". Not to be gross, but I do keep some flushable wipes on hand for the not so solid bowel movements that I do get. I really try to make a conscience effort of keeping every meal under 15 grams of fat like the instructions say. It helps too that I have an Iphone app that I can log everything I eat and look up restaurants nutrition info. So, I can still eat out as long as I keep myself aware of my fat intake. I'm shooting for 35 lbs. I'll have to review again in a couple of months.

Like most people, the idea of simply "popping-a-pill" to lose weight seemed to good to be true. I am a fit, active and athletic 40 year old male who has never had a serious weight problem, but as I have gotten older I noticed that I could not for the life of me, lose those extra 10 pounds that I had put on since getting married. It's like my body just refused, refused to go past a certain number. A friend recommended ALLI to get me past the number I seemed to be stuck-on. Started the program at 189 and after 2 weeks I am now down to 182! Thats 7 pounds in TWO WEEKS! FANTASTIC! Yes, there are some rather unpleasant side affects but they mainly occur when you DONT FOLLOW THE PROGRAM..which of course means, LOWER YOUR FAT INTAKE! I did have one messy, oily, bowel-movement which of course occurred after a high fat meal the night before. Once I limited my fat intake, the treatment symptoms disappeared and the fat melted away. Just follow the directions. No more then 15grams of fat per day..and it will work! As long as you eat a healthy diet (as you should be when on a diet) you do not have a problem with the adverse side effect. When you do eat something greasey or fatty Alli serves as a silent reminder that you do not need to be eating those items. It is kinda gross, but it is the product working. In doses of 120 mg. three times a day, 30% of eaten fats will go into the sewer. Less than 2% of the drug gets absorbed in the body so more than 98% of the drug passes in the stools, mostly unchanged. Still not happy?

One might ask what happens to the bad fats in the blood, e.g. bad cholesterol? One can expect lowering of bad cholesterol aka LDL, the lethal variety that makes widows. It does not affect the good cholesterol aka HDL by much but the HDL gets up by exercising, the pill is a good adjunct to 'other things' such as eating healthier foods, not drinking alcohol, exercising, not smoking etc. The pill is taken only with a fatty meal. In other words, if you are eating an apple for lunch, there is no need to waste a capsule there. Many feel that this is an "expensive" capsule. I agree. The sponsor is making a killing over some lousy fat fed to people by way of fast foods, another killing in the first degree. Frankly, a Big Mac should come with one free orlistat. In the global economy, one orlistat should cost no more than 12-15 cents, in my view and they still will make decent profits. I do not know when the patent is up for the generics to plunge in. Hopefully soon.

Administration

Administer during or up to 1 hour after each main meal containing fat.

Precautions:

Fat soluble vitamins also 'get lost' in the process. A multivitamin containing the fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K) should be administered once daily at least 2 hours before or after Alli. Vitamin D deficiency/insufficiency is a common condition as it is (thanks to the deep freeze winters). Orlistat will make this worse. This is especially important in women and is totally preventable. Lack of Vitamin D also causes muscle incoordination besides thin bones thus increasing the chances of fall and fracture, not common knowledge.

Orlistat is a God sent pill for Type II diabetics, mostly obese. Therapy modification is recommended w a doctor.

Orlistat is not recommended for use during pregnancy/lactation and transplant patients.

Drug interactions

If you are taking blood thinners, transplant drugs, or some other prescription meds, you need to talk to your doctor for adjustment. Your pharmacist has a list of these for free.

Drink plenty of water when on orlistat to keep kidneys flushed well.

For obese kids over 12, consult with your doctor.

Orlistat thus appears to be a safe drug, no lawyer has collected anything on it that I am aware of. Now, that is something.

My better half knows a lot about chemicals, drugs, etc (works in the industry) and said this would work - and (as usual) she's correct. I can now eat fried chicken and not feel as guilty as I used to feel. Read the instructions since there are 'side effects' and you do not want to end up in an embarrassing situation.

A friend of mine ordered these and lost a nice amount of weight with little excersize which prompted me to try these. I'd been working out a lot and my weight loss had slowed down considerably (I lost about 28 pounds so I guess I hit a plateau). Anyway, I decided to try them out. And due to schedule changes had to stop working out as often, almost all together seems like, and yet I've still managed to lose about 7lbs in about 3 weeks. For me that is a lot considering I really wasn't working out anymore and I'm already down a lot of weight to begin with. I just really don't find that I have an appetite. I watch the clock though and make sure to have SOMETHING every 3 - 4 hours (should even be less) but I find just picking at food, ex. a few bites of cottage cheese for breakfast, satisfies me and I'm just not hungry. I am craving water though like never before, can't seem to get enough water in my system, which is good cuz I've never been a big water drinker. I don't feel jittery at all, like I have with some other prescription weight loss pills I tried before. My heart doesn't race, my hands don't shake, none of those side effects. It doesn't give me the runs, or an upset stomach. It simply has reduced my appetite for food and increased my desire for water as far as I can tell, and I credit it with the last 7lbs I just lost since it obviously wasn't from my (lack of) strenuous excersize. For the price, I'd say you have nothing to lose but unwanted pounds and appetite if you order these.

Based off the other reviews I was expecting to see a dramatic increase, but it has been a slow process. My appetite has decreased, but I have not seen a big difference. I've been drinking plenty of water and exercising so I'm not sure why I'm not seeing the results that I should. What is the Bioelectrical Impedance Method?
Bioelectrical Impedance (BI) is considered one of the most accurate and accessible methods of screening body fat. Muscles, blood vessels and bones are body tissues having a high water content that conduct electricity easily. Body fat is tissue that has little electric conductivity. "Pure Garbage, dont buy" 2010-05-03

It took me several weeks to realize but this scale is not only off on weight and body fat but it fluctuates in minutes.

We first got the scale and already knew our weight from out previous scale. This one was purchased because of it's body fat feature. From the first time we stepped on it registered both of us 2 pounds lighter than our other scale but we didn't think anything of it assuming the new scale was more accurate somehow.

After a couple weeks of using the scale everything seemed ok till I went to the doctor and their info was completely different. I then went to our local grocery store which has both a scale and body fat calc and it matched the doctors. After returning home we tried the scale and it didnt come close to matching either of the other two scales. It was at that point we realized that each time we got on the scale, off and back on it would give us a different reading. It registered me as 196.9 the first time, 15 seconds later I was magically 195.2, 30 seconds later I was 194.4... after 10 minutes of entertaining myself with magical weight loss my final weight was 189.7.

All that said, we ordered heart rate monitors from the same company and even those dont report even close to being accurate. They were regularly off by 20-30 bpm which is HUGE.

I was pretty excited to get this in the mail. However the excitement quickly wore off when I realized the scale doesn't work properly. I measured this scale against 3 other scales and they all got near the same number. However after weighing myself 10 times on this scale, I received 10 different answers. Now this was all on the same day as well so there was no way it was me losing/gaining weight. This measured me at 90lbs, thats a laugh, because the other three scales measured me at approx. 160lbs. This thing was poorly designed, the materials it is made out of look like dollar general quality (very loose, plastic). Can't believe I paid money for this, and now I have to make a trip up to the UPS store to return it. This is such a waste of money and time, if I were you I'd go to your local wal-mart or w/e and buy a $15 scale, it will work 10x better and it will hold up. And if you're curious about your fat %, just go to a local gym or the doctor. At least then you'll know for sure.

This scale is very accurate when measuring weight. It is very repeatable and seems to be right on. But the Body Fat Monitor an BMI calculations evidently don't work for athletes with low body fat. I have been tested a number of other methods and I am usually around 6% body fat. When I step on this scale, it measures me at around 19-20% almost every time, so it isn't even close. I was thinking it wouldn't be exact being it only measures as low as 5% but I really thought it would be closer than that. It is still a good tool if you are working to lower you percentage of body fat because you could monitor if you are going the right direction, but it doesn't do what I hoped it would.

The scale is consistent and seems to be accurate compared to other scales. The body fat monitor is very wrong. It tells me that I have 23-24% body fat, no matter when I test. I visually guessed that I was around 12-15% and another body fat monitor backed this up. I was thinking about returning this item but it does work well as a scale, which is something that you need for a more accurate hand-held monitor. That's why I gave it 3 stars. It doesn't do everything well that it is supposed to do, but it is a moderately priced, accurate scale.
