See my post "here" on why I am Done with Simple and should not have used the phrase "simple CRM" in previous posts. Whatever you call it, I am loving Google apps and am almost done with a second sample application.

Loving Google App Engine

So far, so good with our Google App Engine CRM. I'm loving the speed at which changes are deployed as well as the removal of environment maintenance tasks. Python and Google's webapp framework programming is rather straightforward too. I can see why Python programmers enjoy the language as much as Ruby programmers enjoy theirs.

Between the last post and this post, I got tasks added to our Google App Engine app as well some better comment and task management. I predict a strong future in Google App Engine, not necessarily for our company (too early to tell) but just in general. I feel they have a winner on their hands and it will keep getting better.

Always on the lookout for production environments that are both stable and flexible, we gave Google App Engine a try today. To become familiar with Google App Engine, we created a simple contact tracker and lightweight CRM currently code-named Fast CRM. It is the first CRM-type application in the Google App Engine gallery and the first Google App Engine CRM type application that I know of. You can see it live at http://bizz.appspot.com.

This blog will follow the progress of this project as it grows. Expect over the next couple of days to see the addition of other common CRM capabilities such as tags, team collaboration and more.
