Many English students emailed me and posted comments asking me to give them more advices on how to speak English fluently, they have been asking me everyday, if I don't say every hour, so I chose to write a helpful article telling them what to do really if you want to speak English easily.
I've been always talking about things you should do to improve your English, but now I'm going to talk about things that you should never do if you want to learn English, I mean real English not textbook English to be clear.

Don't study grammar:
For most English students, this rule has always been so strange, because they always think that English can never be learned without studying English grammar, I'm inviting you to read one of my old posts tittled English Grammar to learn more about how can English grammar kill you skills and abilities.

Never be shy:
This is one of the most important rules if you want to speak English without thinking and with a good accent. But unfortunately, most English students don't care about it and don't focus on it. So I'm advising you to teach yourself to never be shy when you want to speak English. I know you think that your friends will laugh at you when they hear you speak English, but you're completely "WRONG", so be clever and don't be shy.

Never speak English when listening to English:
This is also an important rule, there are two things: listening and speaking, and you should not do the two things simultaneously.
When you listen focus on listening in order to speak English very well.
I think this rule is simple and everybody can apply it, let's go to the next one.

Never leave "Fastest way to speak English"
This is a great rule, I've been giving advises to English learners since years, so you have to visit Fastest Way to Speak English at least once a week in order to take the best advices and learn to speak English like an American.

Never try to remember English vocabulary:
Because vocabulary is going to be deeper into your brain if you followed my advices. You're welcome to read the 7 steps to English vocabulary to get more details and learn how to get more new English words in your memory without trying to memorize.

Speak English better than you do

Speaking English is easier than you think it is. The only thing you should know is that "nothing is impossible", if you want to do it, you can do it and you will speak English like an American.

In fact, if you want to speak English better you should have a huge vocabulary in your head, and you should know how to make a good sentence, than you should know how to speak English with a good accent.

Of course I'm not telling you to take a book and than start to memorize the vocabulary, my method says that "listening" is the most important thing, and don't forget to relax when you listen to English.

How about the accent? Can you have a good pronunciation?
Of course! I've already told you that listening is the key to English speaking, just relax, and have fun, the only thing you should do is choosing the right thing to listen to.

Repeat some English phrases

Welcome back! In this post we will talk a little bit about a specific action that English students should do in order to learn more vocabulary and to improve their pronunciation with English.

Maybe you've been already doing it, but I should talk about it!
Have you noticed that some days, you repeat some phrases alone?
If you did, I think these phrases are now deeper into your brain!

Yes, in this article I advice each English student to repeat some phrases without thinking, just to make them go deeper and you learn much much vocabulary doing so.

For example: when learning English, or listening to a conversation you hear a good phrase that you like the pronunciation, then you repeat listening again and again (because you enjoyed it) and then you start to repeat it alone subconsciously (withing thinking and without feeling) you repeat it loudly, you copy the pronunciation, maybe you repeat it for a week or more!

Then next week you hear another phrase, then you start doing the same time with the previous phrase, and then you will see that these phrases are easy for you, you understand them faster, and you speak them with thinking (especially in a real English conversation)!

Speak English with Fastest English

Every English student learning English through my lessons and articles may have noticed that I didn't write any posts since months! I'm sorry I got some personal work to do.

Fortunately, "Fastest way to speak English" is now coming back, I'm here to teach you a lot of learning English techniques in order to speak English fluently.

In fact, thanks to all English students how contacted me throw comments, email, facebook,...etc asking me to give more lessons and tricks to learn to speak English fluently with a good pronunciation.

How to improve your English accent now

Well, this is a tip that you can practice in two minutes or less, as a result you will speak English like a native speaker (just the pronunciation and the accent).

This idea came from "American Accent Training", it allows you to speak English like a native speaker in a short time.

When you practice this tip, you won't be able to speak English like a native speaker forever, but it will give you a small idea about the American Accent.

Follow these steps in order to realize it:

1-Find a short sentence being spoken by a native speaker (MP3 file if you can)

2-Listen to the MP3 file many times.

3-Try to speak exactly like the native speaker.

4-Practice it many times up to the point you speak like the native speaker.

Well, what do you think about your pronunciation now? is it good to have an American accent?

Tip: If you couldn't realize it, it's because you didn't focus on the intonation.

Focus on the intonation, don't focus on each single word!

Improve your spoken English

Spoken English and written English are totally different. Everyone should learn English he needs and of course this returns to your goals because English students are different.

Most English students do very well with writing and reading skills, but when it's up to English speaking, they are at a total loss!

However, if you want to improve your spoken English, I don't recommend that you don't do some simple English readings because they are really helpful. All you have to do is to choose the best things to read (things that you love, simple reading, real English...)

Listening is always the key to everything, especially when it's about spoken English.

If you want to speak English very well and to improve your spoken English, you should think about these three things:

Real English material, you ears, your mouth (and tongue of course)

First you should find real English material where real English is spoken, this is very important if you would like to speak English like an American, like a native speaker!

Then, you should use your ears which means that you should listen to English a lot! listen to English everywhere, at any moment! (I recommend using an IPOD or something else)

Finally, use your mouth (what does mean?) try to answer before reading the next words.
Of course it means practicing English, don't tell me that you forgot your English friends!

Another thing is the pronunciation: the most important is a clear pronunciation, then you try to have a good accent (pronunciation and accent are not equal!)

Simple Past

Level: Intermediate

The simple past is used to express an action that started in the past and ended in the past.

Positive Form: I ate
Negative Form: I didn't eat
Question Form: Did I eat?

For regular verbs just add "ed". For irregular verbs you can use this table:
Irregular verbs list (use only the first 3 columns)

When adding "ed", you should notice these exceptions:
If the final letter is an "e", just add "d" Ex: decide --> decided
If the final letter is "y" after a consonant, the "y" becomes "i" Ex: identify --> identified

Finally, remember: If you want to speak English fluently, you should focus on listening. Even English grammar you can learn it by listening (it's the best solution)

7 Tips to speak English fluently

To speak English fluently is your goal, that's the reason you want to read this article. Those tips will help you to improve your English fluency:

1-Build your emotion:
It's one of the most important steps to speak English fluently but most students forget it, when you are motivated you learn fast and easily. think about building your motivation just before starting to study English (do it each time you want to study English).

2-Study English everyday:
If you want to speak English fluently and you study just one day per week, you're totally wrong!
A question that you may ask will be: I don't have time to study English everyday, how can I do?
it's so simple! take this rule: short time everyday for studying BETTER THAN long time every week.

3-Find material that goes with your level:
Each English student has a different level, for example, if you are an intermediate English student, you should find some English material for intermediate students.
For example, don't listen to English MP3 where you understand nothing! Just listen to English MP3 where you can understand about 80% or 90%

4-Repeat what you studied:
Whenever you want to study English, repeat what you studied the last time. Don't go to a next step until you're comfortable with the actual one.

5-Don't forget new technology:
I just made an article where you can learn how to use new technology to improve your English skills.

6-Find some English friends:
I call them "English friends". They are students you learn English with. Don't study alone if you have some friends. It can help you to build your emotion which means you learn English fast and easily.

7-Practice English:
even if you don't have some friends, practice English alone. Talk about the lessons you just learned, use the new vocabulary, try to make correct sentences...

Why do they speak English so easily?

In a previous article, we said that English students are different and they don't have the same level and don't have the same reason they learn English. It's true, but there are some countries where English is spoken as a second language but almost everybody speak English very well!

For example, in Holland and Germany people speak English very well, they speak English fluently, easily and with a clear pronunciation!

While in other countries like France and Italy people doesn't speak English well, even their pronunciation is so bad!

This is due to many reasons, we will talk about some of them:
*In some countries, they study English earlier than others. For example, in Holland they begin to study English at the age of ten!

*They are willing to learn English and they should (because of business and many reasons)

*Their language is related to English, for example Dutch and German are not so far from English!

*In Universities, they use English instead of their own language which gives them a huge motivation to learn English!

Well, even if you are from France you can learn to speak English fluently because nothing is impossible!

Even if your accent is so bad, you can speak English with a clear pronunciation and a good accent.

I advice you to build you psychology before you start to learn English because it's one of the most important steps but unfortunately many English students skip it!

Speak English fluently is the most important

Most English students start to learn English with only one goal which is "to speak English fluently", then they follow some boring methods (grammar, memorizing word lists) then they end with a different goal from the goal they started with.

Always put in your mind that speaking English fluently is the most important thing in your English learning career, English grammar and all other methods are just useful things and ways which can lead you to the goal.

Studying English grammar makes English students think only about grammar and the structure of the language.

Please tell me: which one is the best: to speak English fluently with correct grammar without knowing grammar Or to know everything about English grammar but don't speak English fluently?

let's talk about memorizing word lists: Which one is the best: to have a limited vocabulary you can use easily OR to have a huge vocabulary you can't use?
(But I want you to have a huge vocabulary you can use)

Always put it in your mind: English grammar and memorizing word lists are not goals, your most important goal is to "speak English fluently".

English is a huge field. Nowadays a big number of people are learning English, but they don't have the same level, and they don't study the same type of English.

Do you think only foreigners learn English? if you think so, think a little bit about your language, who is learning your own language? of course a lot of native speakers!

That's the same with English, even native English speakers learn English.
That's why the word "English as a second language" was created, just to make the difference between learning English for native speakers and for foreigners.

If you are a beginner, never try to be clever and try to learn English as a native speaker, never!

That's true that you should listen to what they listen to, watch what they watch, but you should never study what they study.

Native English speakers do study English grammar, they study the structure of the language and it's very complicated.

English learning is not something that you can do randomly, you should follow some steps in order to learn to speak English fluently:

1-Look for English material for ESL learners.
2-Don't study English grammar up to the point you'll be an advanced student.
3-Never memorize word lists.
4-Listen to real English conversation.
5-don't listen to formal English.
6-10% of your learning should be reading.
7-do only simple English reading even if you're advanced.
8-Simple English reading differs for each student.
9-Simple English reading means you understand more than 80%.
10-Talk with native speakers or your English friends.
11-If you speak English fluently, then focus on grammar and formal English.
12-Practice English if you don't want to forget it.
13-Take some holidays whenever you need to.

Talk English with your friends

If you want to speak English fluently and easily without practicing with you friends, I think you're in the wrong way!

There is a difference and a relationship between "speak" and "talk"
to speak means "words come out of your mouth", but "talk" has the idea of speaking with others.

So, when you speak, you're just getting words coming out of your mouth, but when you talk you're making a conversation.

If you talk with your friends in English, you're making an English conversation.

The relationship between these two words is that, talking in English helps you to speak English fluently.

The best solution is to practice talking English with a native English speaker, try to find someone who can help you, I mean, someone who slows done when you ask him, someone who repeats when you don't understand...

If you find a native English speaker who can help you, you can make him as an English tutor. And I don't ask you to look for something else to learn English because you already have the best solution.

While finding an English tutor is not available for everybody, finding some friends with the same level as you can also help you to improve your spoken English.

For example, if you have some English friends, each one of you knows some vocabulary others don't know and then everybody will learn more vocabulary!

Whether you are a beginner or an advanced student, talking in English is very important for you, because it helps you either to learn English or to improve your spoken English.

Is English spoken in the whole world?

English is the most used language in the world right now, but the question is: Is English spoken in the whole world? or are there some places where English is not spoken?

Well, it's true that there are a lot of countries where English is spoken, some countries where English is a major language like the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. In some other countries, English is spoken as a global language and there are some countries where English is spoken as a second language.

However English is spoken in many countries as a second language, people don't have the same level, some people speak English fluently, others are only capable of basic conversations...

To speak English fluently, you should know the right method first. The right method is composed by some tips you should practice in order to improve your English speaking.
English speaking is very easy once you know the right method, which means the right method is everything if you want to speak English fluently.

Many English students don't know what does "speak English fluently" mean (and they want to speak English fluently).

To speak English fluently is to speak English without thinking and without translating, you speak English fast and without problems.

It means, you don't wait to find the right word because the words are already coming out automatically from your mouth!

To speak English fluently, thinking in English should be one of your goals.

It doesn't mean that you have a very big vocabulary list in your brain, but it means that you are comfortable with the normal vocabulary list you already know.

Which one is the best: to have a huge vocabulary list you don't use? or to have a normal English vocabulary list that you use easily?

As an English learner, you should know how to think in English in order to improve your fluency.
English speaking has many tips, you should keep it simple and never be afraid of making mistakes.

To think in English is not something you should use, it's a GOAL!

While thinking in English is a goal, so you should know how to proceed in order to learn how to think in English in order to improve your English fluency.

Always, the most important tip for each part of English learning is "listening" (take it deep into your brain and never forget it)

Always when someone asks you: "how can I improve my English?", your answer should begin with: "you should listen to English to improve English"

You should practice thinking in English in order to perform it. (it's a given)
Practicing thinking in English is not only listening in English, it's more than it. You should listen to English and don't translate each word to your language.

When you try to speak English, you shouldn't put your language in the middle, you should speak English directly without thinking in any other language.

If you want to learn to think in English without practicing, you're not going to realize it because it's something more practical than it's theory!!

You should listen to original English, which means you should listen to native English speakers in a real English conversation.

If you do all things described in this article, be sure that you will think in English one day, even if it takes longs time (that depends)

Weird English teacher

In one of the previous articles titled "how to become an English teacher", I said that the degree needed to become an English Teacher varies based on what and where you would like to teach.
In fact that post was because of a question sent to me by Email, so I took time to answer in a short post to help more than one person.

That person resent me another Email telling me some details that I asked. In the second Email he said:
"I'm at the high school now after 2 years i will join the university and i will study for 4 years during this 4 years i will improve my English well"

I think you have so much time to improve your level. While I always advice to not study English grammar, for your case I do recommend studying English grammar very well, because you're not going only to speak English, you're also going to teach English and especially "English Grammar" (I know in schools they force teachers to teach English grammar even if it's not good enough)

In the next years, you should focus on your English learner a lot, you're not a normal student because you're going to become an English teacher in few years.

You have to study twice: normal studying as your colleagues, and some secret studying that you'll do alone at home.

At school you should focus on what your teachers are teaching you, while at home you should focus more on listening and improving pronunciation (I know teachers in your countries don't have a good accent!).

Another thing that you must have is a "huge vocabulary" in your brain, you should know a lot of word lists (I do not recommend that you memorize).

Yes, you can do it without memorizing, it's so simple to have a huge word list deeper into your brain but you should take time to do it because it's not going to be done overnight.

Focus more on listening, it's the only secret: students who listen to English more improve their level faster... (that's the rule!!!)

If you have a problem with vocabulary or you can't find the right word when you try to speak, you should start with basic English vocabulary first then do some simple English readings and then go to some more complicated words...

Listening should be with you all the way, from beginning until becoming an English teacher (even if you become an English teacher you should go on listening to English).

7 ways to learn English using new technologies

Learning English can sometimes be so boring that many English students will leave it, however using new technologies can help them a lot to improve their English skills. Here are some tips to easily learn English and have fun.

1-Watch Videos with subtitles:
This is one the best methods to improve both your English writing and your spoken English, it can also improve your English listening skills.

Another benefit is that's generally "real English", so it will be a good point.
I also recommend that you repeat more than one time, sometimes focus on reading, and sometimes on listening.

2-Choose something you like:
As we said about English videos with subtitles, they are great and more, but you should choose something you like in order to not get bored.

3-Set Google in English:
Google is the most used search engine in the world. If you use it in English, you will increase your vocabulary list because you use it everyday which includes more repetition.

You should also use English when you're looking for something in Google.
It's very powerful, because generally people look for things they like in Google, and if you read things that you like in English, you won't get bored!

4-Join an English forum:
Nowadays, forums are dominating the Internet, I didn't think that one of you doesn't know what forums are. However if you join a forum where you can learn English, it will be a good idea. You find many people sharing the same ideas as you...

5-Join forums about your hobbies:
Joining a forum about English learning is a good idea, but you'll get bored if you try it everyday, you always see problems and few solutions...etc

Joining a forum about your hobbies or about things that you like can help you to don't get bored, you learn without thinking because you're only focusing on ideas and not English words.

6-Become a blog reader:
Blogs are very good nowadays, they are simple and easy to manipulate. Becoming a blog reader will help you to improve your reading skills and your spelling at the same time (but not your listening skills) I recommend that you can subscribe to my feeds to become a blog reader here (you can also subscribe by Email).
Post comments in blogs in English, it will also help you to no longer be shy.

7-Start Blogging in English:
As I said, blogging is so simple, you should try it right now, you can choose something that you like (cars, animals, ...) and start writing about it in English.

We also talked about Better At English, and how to use them.

In this post, we are going to present the top six ESL Podcasts.
This ranking is not from the best to the worst, I've just chosen 6 podcasts I think they are the best and ranked them randomly.

It's available since 2008, a new podcast every two or three days. You listen to a story and you can also read its transcript and sometimes you find some grammar notes. Its level is intermediate.

A good resource to listen to everyday English, you can also improve your pronunciation.

English students are different

Looking at one of my old posts, I read a comment from Oxy at Better At English (Oxy is one of my best English students, she is the Top commentator right now) I remembered the idea that not English students are equal, they are different.

In fact, we can never find two students with the same psychologies, with the same level of understanding and remembering...They all differ in their learning skills.

For example, when they downloaded the Fastest English ebook they had different looks concerning the ebook; some of them found it easy, one of them read it in one hour... you can check their comments at Download Fastest English Ebook.

When reading comments from my students, I always get new ideas: most of them do some spelling mistakes, others do grammar mistakes...etc

English and tourists

English is getting more and more important nowadays, maybe one day it will be like breath.
Many English students are learning English just for fun, but more than that English is very important and it worth learning!

It's time to show this truth: you're learning English that's the reason you're reading this article, right? So, why are you learning English? (waiting for your comments below)

If you have already traveled somewhere in the world, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

If you decide one day to go the United States or to England, it's obvious that you should speak English, I mean you should at least know basic English vocabulary and speak with a clear pronunciation.

But if you travel to another country where English is not the main language, Turkey for example, what should you do?

Of course you should know how to speak Turkish.

And if the year after you go to China, what should you do?
Of course ~~you should know how to speak Chinese.~~

This is totally wrong! I've never heard about someone who learned so much languages.

That's why you should learn English, just because it's used everywhere!

If you go to Turkey, you can speak English and a big amount of people there will understand you! And also in China and other countries!!

More than that, In some developed and touristic countries, they started to teach English to everybody, why?

For two reasons:
1- English is the most used language in the world.
2- To help tourists: a touristic country is a country where there is everything tourists need. Usually, tourists are looking for someone to guide them, So, developed countries teach English to everybody to make them as guides for tourists!!

I know this article is not about English tips, but it help you to build your emotion. In fact if you know that English is very important, you will do everything in order to learn to speak it, right?

English is very important for tourist, it's also important for many other fields.
