<p>You don’t have to be as talented as Tiger Woods or have the money to be able to stay in <a href="http://www.longshotgolf.co.uk/">swanky 5 star golf hotels</a> to take up the sport and take advantage of the obvious health benefits.</p>
<p>The beauty of golf in comparison to other hobbies and pastimes is the fact that you’re never too old to start playing and there’s an abundance of courses available pretty much anywhere and everywhere. Simply buy, borrow or hire some clubs, find a course close to you that you can play on and then give it a go.</p>

<p>Eighteen-hole courses tend to be over 5,000 yards in length, which means if you enjoy a nice leisurely round of golf then you’ll easily have walked a minimum of nearly 5km (three miles) in the space of a few hours without even really noticing. Play a round or two every week and you’ll soon start to look and feel much better as it’ll increase your stamina.  </p>
<p>Even if you don’t have the time to fit in a full round, hitting some balls down the driving range for an hour or two a week will also help in the battle to beat the bulge. Swinging and putting will improve upper body strength and providing you stand correctly will also enhance your core muscles, while pounding the fairways and greens of a course on a regular basis will tone calf and thigh muscles.</p>
<p>Golf is gentle exercise that can have a big impact on your appearance!</p>

<p>Other than that, it was a really good day. I should probably use up a few more points in the morning so I don&#8217;t end up with so many left over at night.&nbsp; Or, I like the idea that we learned in our last WW meeting to start your points at night, and start them over 24 hours later. So, you&#8217;d start at night and end before dinner the next day.&nbsp; I&#8217;ll have to think about that one.</p>

<p><strong>Today:</strong> 262.0</p>
<p><strong>Gain</strong>: 3.6</p>
<p><strong>Net loss</strong>: 7.8</p>
<p>I&#8217;m giving myself two weeks two get back to my Dec 7 weight, which would effectively mean that my little Christmas binge will have taken me 6 weeks out of the program. How humbling.</p>

<p>The good news is I started on a weight loss contest at work.  First weigh-in was on January 6th and the contest goes for 3 months.  Cash prizes for the winners!</p>
<p>Bad news is I haven&#8217;t done much yet to get into the swing liked I had hoped.  I have exercised a couple of times in the morning, and yesterday we did go to the dog park and I actually ran up a very long hill.  Holy cow am I out of shape!  Haven&#8217;t breathed that hard in a long time.  But I guess that&#8217;s good.</p>
<p>But I&#8217;m still eating more than I should and I&#8217;m not going to the grocery store myself, which is a big problem.  There is never enough fruits and vegetables around that I might eat unless I shop for myself.</p>
<p>Next four days will be particularly tough because I&#8217;ll be eating out a lot.  I&#8217;m going to try to be good.</p>

<p>Pretty good start to the day, although I was a bit on the sluggish side this morning. Normal food intake this morning, granola bar and coffee, but I didn&#8217;t have anything planned for the rest of the day.My ideal world is that I have my meals planned beforehand, but in reality that only happens occasionally.</p>
<p>Lunch was PBJ and yogurt, another staple in my routine. I&#8217;m beginning to see a pattern here.</p>
<p>Dinner was brocolli beef over rice, and I&#8217;ve got some points left over. Too many to leave on the table, so I&#8217;ll need to do something about that.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Pretty good day. I counted everything, and still have a few points to spare. Weigh-in was tonight, but I just checked in without getting on the scale. I&#8217;ll face the music next week.&nbsp;</p>
<p>School puts me into a routine, and I was out of that routine for about 3 weeks. &nbsp;Not an excuse, just some insight into how my habits work. Some colleagues were talking about running to get into shape, and that&#8217;s something I&#8217;ll never do again. Not with my joint problems, anyway. I found myself a little envious that it wasn&#8217;t an option for me anymore.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m going to continue to post here daily until I get some things under control. With all of the other blogging I do, though, it&#8217;s really going to take some commitment on my part.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Well, no excuses to be made here, but for all intents and purposes, I took off a few weeks of Weight Watchers. I&#8217;m feeling it, and that&#8217;s not a good sign. It&#8217;s one thing to feel bad about a day or two of off-program eating, but it&#8217;s quite another to go a few weeks without even trying. It&#8217;s not a matter of whether or not I put some weight back on, but rather, how much?&nbsp; I don&#8217;t even want to know right now.</p>
<p>We have weigh-in tomorrow night, and I&#8217;m taking a Mulligan on this one. I need to give myself a week of good, solid, on-program eating habits before I see that number again.</p>
<p>Where I grew up, you get right back on the horse when you get bucked off (or, in my case, purposefully jump off), and that&#8217;s just what I&#8217;m going to do. I feel bad for the regression, but I can&#8217;t keep looking in the rear view mirror. Not for long, anyway. I&#8217;m going to think about revising some goals and have a plan to get down to my goal weight in the coming weeks and months. Spring Break is the next marker on the calendar where I&#8217;d like to look forward to again. It&#8217;s time to get back to <a href="http://weightloss.rickscheibner.net" title="My weight loss blog" target="_blank">South of 260</a>.</p>
<p>One of the original reasons for starting my weight loss blog in the first place was to create some accountability and keep a record of my progress.&nbsp; It&#8217;s time to do that again. With that in mind, I&#8217;m going to start posting daily again, at least for the first few weeks, even if it&#8217;s just a few simple lines about thoughts and feelings from that day. Blogging is a very healthy, productive way for me to get back on track.</p>
