I stood on the scale a week ago and saw the biggest number I have ever seen on it. It depresses me, but it motivates me. I don’t know how many times I will need to start this weight loss thing over until it sticks, but I don’t know anything else I can do except keep trying. I started the Couch to 5k again and continue to work on my diet. I won’t be traveling for 6 weeks, so I hope some normal living will help me get on a good roll. This first week was good. Lost 4 pounds. I will do everything I can to keep it up!

We all have muscles in our bodies to start with, but these muscles become surrounded by at if we consume too many calories as part of our diet, without undertaking sufficient physical exercise to burn off these excess calories. When it comes to figuring out how to build muscle and greater muscle definition, rather than building fat, which lessens this definition, the only way of accomplishing this is through a responsible diet and exercise program. This means making sure that our bodies receive sufficient amounts of protein, while undertaking exercises that burn off calories and also rip muscle tissue, to allow for repair and growth. More about building your muscle can be found on informational pages from www.maximuscle.com.

This is the key factor when it comes to how to build muscle through exercise – as they don’t call a muscular torso “ripped” for no reason. This phrase refers directly to the fact that, in order to enhance muscle definition and size in those areas that you want to achieve this, it is necessary to rip muscle tissue, as it through the repair process that this tissue grows. How long it will take to accomplish this will depend on factors such as how much protein you get as part of your diet – as protein assists the process of building muscle – and what body type you have.

There are three different types of body, endomorph, ectomorph and mesomorph, with the ectomorph body type referring to those with particularly rapid metabolisms. This type of metabolism enables people to burn calories more quickly, meaning that they are less likely to be overweight, but it also makes the process of building muscle harder and slower. This does not mean that it is impossible for people of an ectomorphic body type to build muscle; just that it is likely to be a longer process and require greater levels of dedication on their part to successfully accomplish this. A combination of regular exercise designed to rip the appropriate muscle tissues, protein-rich foods and supplements and rest periods should still help such people build muscle.

I feel like I just keep getting back to my original weight and have to keep starting over. I’m not sure the psychology of that, but that’s what it feels like. Kinda feels like doing the same things again and again and expecting something different to happen but I honestly don’t know what to do. So I’m at it again and the last 2 weeks have been very successful. I have been living on a very strict budget and it seems to be helping a lot. I am eating a lot less because the stuff that is better for you is more expensive. It amazes me how much I don’t eat because I just don’t have the money to eat it. This is the first time I have done this and the reason for it will be announced at a later date. There are amazing changes coming in my life! I NEED to get healthy! I hope this is the time that it sticks! Just like I hope every time…

This is a guest post by Stephanie Creed.

You don’t have to be as talented as Tiger Woods or have the money to be able to stay in swanky 5 star golf hotels to take up the sport and take advantage of the obvious health benefits.

The beauty of golf in comparison to other hobbies and pastimes is the fact that you’re never too old to start playing and there’s an abundance of courses available pretty much anywhere and everywhere. Simply buy, borrow or hire some clubs, find a course close to you that you can play on and then give it a go.

Eighteen-hole courses tend to be over 5,000 yards in length, which means if you enjoy a nice leisurely round of golf then you’ll easily have walked a minimum of nearly 5km (three miles) in the space of a few hours without even really noticing. Play a round or two every week and you’ll soon start to look and feel much better as it’ll increase your stamina.

Even if you don’t have the time to fit in a full round, hitting some balls down the driving range for an hour or two a week will also help in the battle to beat the bulge. Swinging and putting will improve upper body strength and providing you stand correctly will also enhance your core muscles, while pounding the fairways and greens of a course on a regular basis will tone calf and thigh muscles.

Golf is gentle exercise that can have a big impact on your appearance!

I ended up the day with about 14 points to spare, so I need to do something about that. It’s too many points to just leave on the table at the end of a day.

Other than that, it was a really good day. I should probably use up a few more points in the morning so I don’t end up with so many left over at night. Or, I like the idea that we learned in our last WW meeting to start your points at night, and start them over 24 hours later. So, you’d start at night and end before dinner the next day. I’ll have to think about that one.

Just a quick check-in. Good day, and I even got out with my camera today. It was a gorgeous day, in the 50′s and very sunny. I ended up with a few points to spare, but I didn’t do anything about it. I’m actually looking forward to weigh-in this week.

The good news is I started on a weight loss contest at work. First weigh-in was on January 6th and the contest goes for 3 months. Cash prizes for the winners!

Bad news is I haven’t done much yet to get into the swing liked I had hoped. I have exercised a couple of times in the morning, and yesterday we did go to the dog park and I actually ran up a very long hill. Holy cow am I out of shape! Haven’t breathed that hard in a long time. But I guess that’s good.

But I’m still eating more than I should and I’m not going to the grocery store myself, which is a big problem. There is never enough fruits and vegetables around that I might eat unless I shop for myself.

Next four days will be particularly tough because I’ll be eating out a lot. I’m going to try to be good.
