Pentagon in the Business of Targeting Americans with Propaganda On May 22, Michael Snyder reported on an amendment added to a defense authorization bill in Congress that would legalize "psychological operations" aimed at American citizens. "The latest version of the National Defense Authorization Act would overturn the Smith-Mundt Act of 1948 and the Foreign Relations Authorization Act of 1987," Snyder writes. Those two laws essentially make it illegal for propaganda that is used to influence public opinion overseas to be targeted at US citizens back here at home. If those two laws are struck down, there will be essentially very few limits to what the US government can do to shape our opinions. The government would be able to bombard us with propaganda messages on television, on the radio, in our newspapers and on the Internet and there would not even be a requirement that those messages be true. The law made it through the House and now awaits action in the Senate. "It removes the protection for Americans," a Pentagon official told Michael Hastings of Buzzfeed. "It removes oversight from the people who want to put out this information. There are no checks and balances. No one knows if the information is accurate, partially accurate, or entirely false." TSA Hires Defrocked Priest!

A former Catholic priest who was defrocked after it was discovered he had sexually abused young girls is now working as a security screener for the TSA it has been revealed. The CBS 3 I-Team in Philadelphia reports that Thomas Harkins, a priest in South Jersey until 2002, is now working at a security terminal at Philadelphia International Airport. Although his main duty is to screen baggage, part of Harkins' job with the TSA also involves screening passengers passing through body scanners and conducting pat-downs where necessary. "The Diocese of Camden removed him from ministry because it found he sexually abused two young girls. Now, in a new lawsuit, a third woman is claiming she also is one of Harkins' victims." the CBS affiliate reports. Details of the new lawsuit filed in a federal court against Harkins were revealed by the CBS team and they do not make for pretty reading. It says that he sexually abused an 11-year-old girl up to 15 times in the early 1980s when he was a priest at Saint Anthony of Padua parish in Hammonton, NJ. The CBS team tracked Harkins down and confronted him over the allegations. He refused to answer questions and sought refuge in a restricted TSA security area. "They should know who they're hiring," Karen Polesir, a Philadelphia spokeswoman with the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) told CBS. While the global elite are still clinging to the hope that the euro single currency can survive a Greek exit that now looks inevitable, some members of the financial aristocracy have already given up on the entire eurozone altogether. In an article for the Financial Times entitled, We must break up the failing euro, former Bilderberg attendee Sir Martin Jacomb concedes that all efforts to rescue the euro have been in vain, calling for "all 17 members to decide at once to revert to national currencies." Jacomb attended the 1985 Bilderberg Group meeting in New York but has not been invited back to the elitist confab since. No wonder given the fact that he is obviously an ardent skeptic of the single currency that Bilderberg hatched as far back as 1955. Jacomb, former chairman of Canary Wharf Group, argues that a "five day bank holiday" should be imposed to allow financial markets to absorb the shock of the collapse of the euro. "Experience shows that currency break-ups, like devaluations, have to be handled so as to avoid anticipatory speculative activity. The essential requirement is a single, unequivocal decision to revert to national currencies, reached confidentially by all 17 governments and announced without prior notice," he writes. Praised by Barack Obama as a model for the world, Australia's highly unpopular carbon tax, set to take effect from July 1st, is set to be policed by laws which forbid business owners from criticizing it for causing price rises -- with thought criminals who do so under threat of being hit with huge fines of over $1 million dollars. "SHOPS and restaurants could face fines up to $1.1 million if waiters or sales staff wrongly blame the carbon tax for price rises or exaggerate the impact," reports the Daily Telegraph. According to ACCC deputy chairman Dr Michael Schaper, the warning applies, "to comments made by staff over the phone, on the shop floor or in meetings. It also covers advertising, product labels, websites, invoices, contracts and contract negotiations." This draconian measure will be enforced by teams of "carbon cops" who roam the streets conducting snap inspections of businesses to ensure they are not making any reference to the tax. The characterization of dissent against the carbon tax as a criminal offense exemplifies how the measure passed last year goes way beyond merely forcing Australia's top 500 companies to pay an extra $23.78 per each tonne of CO2 emitted.
