My Comic Book Collections

I don't know how i started doing this, but since i began reading one copy, i find it difficult to stop collecting until i was craving for more and then it turned into an addiction.

Ever since i was young, I've been writing and drawing comic books of my own based on movies and cartoons on TV that had an influence on my style of doing comics well i was a kid what do you expect. Like any other comic illustrator and writer i started looking for books and comic books as my reference in improving my artworks.

Back then i had no computer all the comics a created are all hand written using folded bond paper and ball pen. i used to have them rented at school to those who like reading it. i created almost thirty comics that i compiled since i was in high school. Then i came across with Culture Crash that really hooked me since i got my first copy thought i started with issue 7 to 15 .CCCom was a good read combination of manga and pinoy arts into one great comics. too bad they crashed though.

After CCCom i craved for more since there's no more of it i started searching for any alternative that's when i found DC super heroes. Actually it was a back issue at Filbars and it was cheap so i bought one copy then another then the next until i completed from 1 to 12 then i stop because there's no more back issue on bargain hehehe... my favorite in the book was "Batman Hush" I like Batman more than Superman because i like his detective style in solving crimes. Superman on the other hand is too "Super human" for me.

Since i stopped with DC Superheroes i looked for another book to read so with the absence of CCCom and DC, i was checking for any other books to read just to feed my head. So i collected Kzones, Witch and Monster Allergy because those were the available comic books to read during those time and guess what they we're on bargain.

Witch was sold along with Monster Allegy (buy 1 take 1) heheh... and Kzones were back issues sold at almost 75% off. Monster Allergy 1 to 14 was a nice read and witch also though i just ended with the first saga. I got bored so i looked for new ones again then i saw Neo Comics which sadly stopped after the 4th issue. I also came to find Rambol which is on black and white flipbook format. Because of some of my favorite comics stopped publishing after some certain issues, i thought i look for one shot stories so i checked Manga books which were again on bargain at a book store.

Reading comic books in manga format was quite a fun thing. i get to read the manga version of some famous anime like "Get backers, Saber marionette J," and some stories that are not familiar but was indeed a good read like "Granadier" which i think is the female version of "Vash Stampede of Trigun" i also had a volume of Inuyasha sent by my mom from Hawaii along with my harry 7 Potter books some year ago. Then just recently i was so excited when i first got a glance of the first issue of Marvel heroes comics and i bought it well, i had a job then so i can afford to buy it that time. i was also collecting Mangaholix which i thought it was like CCCom but its much better because it was in English format and more stories. "Aporia" and "Ninja Girl Ko" is my Favorite in the book waiting for 2 to 3 months to get the next issue is fine because the output is excellent, i just hope they don't end up with the same fate as CCCom. But i understand like Mr. Dimaano said in his "Bayan Knights" book comics industry in the Philippines needs help and i wanted to help but how?.

Trese was an excellent book also i was amazed on how they brought new look and different twist on stories about engkantos, aswang nuno sa manhole, you knowthe kind of stories our grandmothers used to tell us to scare us when we were still kids? wow the authors really did a great job on that one i've read it almost 5 times.

Of course Carlo J. Caparas old fashioned style comics i collected up to issue 7 of volume 1, (pinoy na pinoy talaga). though it did not last as well. it seems like comics nowadays cannot survive and suddenly die.

Well so far these are the comic books I've collected did not spend much but i love each and every one of them. To all comic creators out there keep those stories coming because I'm gonna be reading them.
