I’m very pleased with how our new cards turned out, It was a bit misaligned but that’s something to watch for next time. Here is my four paneled card, with ultimate functionality it doubles as a mini portfolio and also has a fair amount of information about our services. I am cutting them and folding them all by hand, for some reason i ended up getting a shiny paper that almost feels like vinyl, I also got one done on card stock to see the difference and the card folds a little easier with a slight score to lessen the stress on the fold. The vinyl type paper needs a lot more pressure when folding to make the fold secure. here are some pics, comment if you like.This is our second business card, I’ll post the old one in the comments.

Style and give an appropriate name : )

1. Background

Click image to Download

1.a Creating a pattern
Open the Image as a new document
Go to Select>All
Go to Edit>Define Pattern…>Then name the pattern

1.b Filling your new canvas
Go to Edit>Fill>Use Pattern>Then select your pattern

2.Text
Select a curvy Font, you can download the one used in the tutorial using
the link above.

3.Adding Style
Now set your layers panel to these settings:

4. Neon Glow On Brick Wall
Create a new layer fill it with the same color as our neon text Select
the lasso tool and draw a free hand shape around the text, Then
feather your selection, Go to Select> Inverse Selection, then press delete.

If you use a black background you can omit Step 4.

Brantford Arts Block Grand Opening featuring skateboards from local artists sponsored by Indecks Skate shop. They had a large turnout , the big wigs of the county came to support the block as well as the artists they exhibited. We had an opportunity to enter the exhibition and include a board, We also added a few photos. The boards are up for silent auction if anyone is interested in purchasing a piece of art.

This is the Original image an ally downtown…very scary..lol save image to follow along.

STEP 1 : This image is nice, but the vertical lines are slightly slanted. I use my ruler and line up the image, then Duplicate

STEP 2 : Select the Duplicate layer and go to Edit/Transform/Perspective and for this image Pull the corners outward to line up the vertical lines, Then adjust the center node to correct the slight angle.

STEP 3 : Now Create Two new layers, Fill One layer with #0F3353 and set to Multiply the second with #285010 and set to Soft Light lets call these Adjustment layers. I added a little darker paint to the sky area and smudged it to blend. (you can see in the image below on the blue layer)

This is the effect very impressive, No!?.. O.K. it is nice but lets add a light to the shot there is a light pole in the ally so lets light it up.

STEP 4 : Using the Pen Tool we will draw the shape of the light fixture.

STEP 5 : Rasterize the new layer and duplicate, Then Go to Filters/Blur/Gaussian Blur and set to a pleasant setting, Do the same for the second layer but Blur about Twice as much as the first.

Well if you understood my gibber than you should have something like the image above..Yes!? then good: ) now turn all your layers on and you should have a very awesome night effect.

The second one here i added a light beam from the light fixture and added a light coming from the windows. One has a blue light to mimic a T.V. glow…

• Next we will make this image into a 3D ally and then we’ll to after effects to make the image into a Motion scene with actors…STAY TUNED!

Since I’m pretty far behind on my tutorials, I thought id post an easy one to get the juices flowing. This as is a very quick and simple tutorial using layer select option.I will be working on a collection of these borders and well as a few other resources for photographers and designers. I did have a few sets of vector art for free and soon we will have some in the shop available for purchase, so look forward to some new samples from that and if you like you should buy!

Here is the border template, i have included three in the bottom of this post.

• STEP 1: Load your border template.

• STEP 2: Now load your selected image and place it under the border template
• STEP 3: To cut away the edge, Press and hold Ctrl, then right click on the border template, This will make a selection of the template.
• STEP 4: Go to Select and then Inverse, Cut the new inversed selection
  

You should now have a border effect, : )

Here is the final image,

• STEP 1: Open a new document in Photoshop

Make sure the Background contents is Transparent. I used 800×600 px size. You can use any size for this tutorial, but if you plan to make a printed poster I would recommend that you would use a much larger size.

• STEP 2: Create your shade background

Fill your canvas with a dark gray, I used #383838. Then select the brush tool and use a large blurry (hardness=0%) and use a slightly brighter color, I used #6b6b6b, to brush at random spots in the canvas. You can also use the gradient tool to achieve this.

• STEP 3: Insert your image into the canvas

…Either by dragging or pasting. It is better to use an image with a very simple background and where to main person or subject sticks out. I used this image:

• STEP 4: Go to Image>Adjustments>Brightness/Contrast…

Use the following settings: Brightness: -30, Contrast: +40. These number do not have to be exact because your original image might already have a high contrast. So if these numbers are too high, use my example difference to come up with a good number.

• STEP 5: Change Blending mode

Select the layer of your image and change the Blending mode from Normal to Darken (this option can be found in the top of the layers window).

• STEP 6: Select the Custom Shape tool from the Tools window

Select the layer of your image and change the Blending mode from Normal to Darken (this option can be found in the top of the layers window). Then select the ‘Registration Target 2′ shape from your default custom shapes. This is the shape which resembles sun rays. Make sure the shape color is White.

While holding Shift, create the shape on the canvas in a way that the main subject of your design is around the center of the rays.

Then Right click on the shape layer you have just created and select ‘Rasterize Layer,’ and move this layer right under your image layer in the layers window.

• STEP 7: Erase the rays from under your image subject

Since you want the rays to go AROUND the subject and not ON them, select the Eraser tool and use a small blurry brush (hardness=0%) to get rid of the rays that show on the subject of your image. Then select a grungy or dirty brush for your eraser, and erase a little here and there around the rays. I used this Grunge brush set.

• STEP 8: Add more Grunge

Create a new layer (on top of all layers). In this new layer use a different grunge or dirty brush and select the color black to add some grunge on the sides of the image or wherever you find it fit. For this step, I used this Spray paint brush set.

• STEP 9: Add Hue/Saturation Layer

Select the ‘Create a new fill or adjustment layer’ button which is the little half black half white circle button in the bottom of the layers window, and choose ‘Hue/Saturation…’ Use the following settings:

You should now have something similar to this:

• STEP 10: Add Gradient Map Layer

Once again select the ‘Create a new fill or adjustment layer’ button (half black half white circle button in the bottom of the layers window) but this time choose ‘Gradient Map…’ Then click on the gradient to edit the colors. In this step you can choose any variation of colors to determine the gradient map of your design.

Here are the colors I used along with their gradient Locations (right to left):
#7b0300 at 0%, #a00000 at 2%, #ff7e00 at 38%, #f7ff2a at 100%

• STEP 11: Add Border Shadow

Create a new layer. Then Select All (ctrl+A) and go to Edit>Stroke and use the following settings and make sure the color is Black:

Then go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur and set the radius to 42.0 pixels. Change the Opacity of this layer to 56%.

You are done!

I added text and some more simple effects finish it off, the font used is Impact. Remember, you can play around with the gradient colors and get some very cool results. You can also add brushes and patterns here and there as I did below and achieve a more complex look.

1. Wait until you’re big, but not too big:
You want your belly to be big and beautiful, but you don’t want it to be so large that posing and holding different positions for any length of time becomes taxing. We suggests taking photos right around 30 weeks. That’s when your belly gets really round, she says, but it’s not too heavy yet. Of course each pregnancy and pregnant belly is different so use your own stamina as a guide.

2. Avoid background clutter:
Just like professional photographers, style your backdrop. So think about what’s behind you. When choosing your location, avoid standing in front of a messy living room - or worse, a messy bathroom. Instead, lie mermaid-style on a solid-color couch or tape some ironed white sheets to the wall and–voila–an instant studio backdrop. Or change things up and step outside: Pick a tranquil spot in your backyard or nearby park or beach to set up camp. We love the leaning-up-against-a-tree look, or, if you’re at the beach, try a profile shot, where you’re sitting up and looking out at the sea.

3. Turn off the flash:
The on-camera flash will be a total wash-out. Maternity photographer Ashley McNamara suggests standing right in front of an open door or window to get great natural light instead. If you’re shooting outside avoid mid-day sun. The best times to go outside are early in the morning or an hour or two before sunset when there’s that golden, sun-tanned, highlights-in-the-hair light.

4. Wear something tight and stretchy:
The whole point of the shoot is to see the gorgeous belly, right? Tight, stretchy clothes will best accentuate all your great curves.

Never wear maternity clothes, since their primary objective is often to feel good on, rather than flatter your shape. McNamara recommends trying some fitted Gap or Old Navy tank tops in solid colors instead.

Skip the florals, plaids, and checks, You want to be able to look back at these pictures in 10 or 20 years and still think the photos look great. Whereas really stylized clothes can get dated, solid darks and neutrals are timeless.

Alternatively, skip clothes entirely. I have a set of sheer curtains from Target, and I use one panel to wrap the breasts and another panel to wrap the belly.

5. Find a great photographer:
You want someone you feel comfortable with and will have fun around taking your picture. If your husband fits the bill, ask him to take the pics (and also to haul any extra props or equipment). Or plan a fun photo date with one of your girlfriends.

Poses to Try:
Here are a few of our expert maternity photographers favorite poses:

• Close up on the belly
• You lying on your back on a couch.
• Older sibling kissing the belly
• You holding older sibling (so they’re sitting on the belly facing you)
• Sitting Indian style, facing the camera
• Working the S curve (one hip out, one shoulder high, one shoulder low, hands relaxed. Think, supermodel!)
• Profile shot
• Any yoga poses you know (and can get into easily)

Update:sept3/// We named her “ASHA” she already sits,lays down,shakes paw and working on getting her to stay, I trained a couple dogs ,one was a Shepard/Pitbull she was trained as a money sniffer…lol and another had just basic house/family training all done with no treats…lol I substitute the treat with double the affection as a reward, also in this update are the bottom three new pics. Enjoy!
