Many of us would like to avoid this problem entirely, but this is not as easy as it sounds.Whether we work alone or with large numbers of people, eventually we will need to speak in public to get certain tasks accomplished no matter how hard we try to conceal our fear. And if we want to be leaders or achieve pinnacles of our career, we will often need to speak to groups, large and small, to be successful. The truth about public speaking, however, is IT NEED'NT BE STRESSFUL! If the hidden causes of this stress get identified and analysed overcoming it wouldnt pose any problem.

Have you ever observed a child speaking. How often does he make a mistake while speaking? How often does he mispronounces a word? Are they ever feared to speak something in front of any number of people? The answer of all these questions is NEVER.They do make a mistake or mispronounce a word but thats not out of nervousness, its because they are still unaware of the right pronounciation and grammer employed while constructing sentences. Then why dosent a kid afterall make an error or experiance fear while speaking in public? This observation helped in overcoming my anxiety and wrong perception over public speaking.

My blog intends to deal with a few topics which have never been associated with public speaking yet play a very crucial role in speaking fearlessly and confidently.Topics like Voice mechanism,Vocal disorders, how to build self confidence, speaking fearlessly through hypnotism, improving presentation skills, excercises to reduce stammering, yoga excercises etc. have been stipulated with detail. If read sincerely,i believe this report will create a remarkable transformation.Ultimately when the greatest fear is conquered rest all fears automatically dissappear.(This is not a hoax of somekind to drive traffic.Everything thats submitted here has been thorougly examined by experts from various fields and proved to be beneficial coming up with drastic results.)

Its an established fact,if i'm speaking over a problem i myself must have experianced it.To be very frank and honest with you,yes i did at one time faced public speaking fear, the fear i never want to face again. At one point of my life i felt as if everything was going to be over for me,i'll never be respected by the crowd, never be famous and things like that. When i looked over the internet for my problem i found a plethora of websites containing millions of articles referring public speaking tips and techniques, suggestion and advices.A few were paid programs which consumed my $2000 or even more but the result were unsatisfying. They work a bit untill you practise their prescribed activities. But the problem arises when the concerned individual is a busy person like me,i mean you cant go the rest of your life excercising your vocal cords. What everybody wants is a permanant solution to this very big problem. My efforts later on became focused on how to conquer fear rather than eliminating just one fear.In this process i went on to read ample number of books and articles on the internet, conducted some research, confronted a few experts and ultimately the results were in front of me.After understanding the proper causes of my fear, where they originate from,i was able to apply the right techniques(i.e yoga, hynotism etc.) to overcome them. And now i had all that i craved for.Just in a period of 6 months i became an effluent public speaker.Thats when i decided to to post my experiances on the internet so that many like me who lost all their hopes can breathe a sigh of relief, after all isnt internet all about sharing.

While writing this blog my prime concern was to keep things as simple as possible.Although i couldnt succeed in posting everything i wanted owing to time constraints and other barriers. But as and when time persists i would surely come up with newer and better articles to update my blog with.So go on and access all my postings and enjoy a free and fearless life.I hope you appreciate my work.Your appreciation and accolades would be my success.

noreply@blogger.com (mark functions and co-ordinates to produce a desired sound, tracking down the root cause of your vocal breakdown becomes simple. Before we proceed i feel it necessary to make a disclosure. No such medicine or medical aid till date works on improving the vocal anatomy, helping you pursue something better than the existing one.

There are some kind of surguries performed onto the vocal system but that do no good in the long run.The new voice produced through such measure fails to acclimatize with the glottis configuration which proves fatal in majority of the cases.Above all the most pejorative outcome is the loss of identity. The genuine tone gets blurred and damped by some unknown and annoying voice orginating without even the notice of the originator. In some very rare cases medical science can do a little good(1:100).Owing to such circumstances its quite essential for a person to know and understand his/her voice discharging process to disregard the misconceptions present and adopt better means. The following article, authored by Prof. John Lee from the University of bufallo, provides a good deal of information covering every aspect a person is expected to know.Sincere efforts have been made to keep things in a laymen format with the minimum usage of biological terms.
VOCAL ANATOMY
The "spoken word" results from three components of voice production: voiced sound, resonance, and articulation.
Voiced sound: The basic sound produced by vocal fold vibration is called "voiced sound." This is frequently described as a "buzzy" sound. Voiced sound for singing differs significantly from voiced sound for speech.
Resonance: Voice sound is amplified and modified by the vocal tract resonators (the throat, mouth cavity, and nasal passages). The resonators produce a person's recognizable voice.
Articulation: The vocal tract articulators (the tongue, soft palate, and lips) modify the voiced sound. The articulators produce recognizable words.
Changing Pitch
Each person can produce a wide range of different pitches between their lowest note and their highest. We use this ability to change pitch for intonation during speech and for singing. Intonation gives valuable information about the meaning of the spoken words. In English for example, a rising pitch frequently indicates a question, and a falling tone indicates that that the speaker has finished speaking. We also use pitch change to convey emotion, for example the high pitches of screams or the low growls that threaten aggression. We change pitch vocally in a similar manner to the way in which we change pitch on a stringed musical instrument. High notes are produced by stretching and thinning our vocal folds and low notes by shortening and thickening them.
VOICE PROBLEMS
Anything growing on or in a vocal fold or anything that alters their straight edges will interfere with the sound of the voice, so that it will be perceived as hoarse/husky. Swelling associated with inflammation and laryngitis makes the vocal fold thicker, heavier and stiffer. The vocal pitch will lower because the folds are thicker and the increased stiffness causes irregular and inconsistent vocal vibrations. Perceptually the voice will be heard as rough and breathy in quality. Sometimes the folds can become so stiff (as with a cancer) they frequently fail to vibrate at all causing the voice to cut out intermittently. Irregular areas of stiffness along the edges of the vocal folds may also interfere with the pitch, causing sudden breaks into falsetto or two different pitches to be heard at the same time (diplophonia).
Occasionally, the nerves that control the opening and closing of the vocal folds can be damaged by a virus, pressure or injury so that one (or both) folds are paralyzed. When this happens the vocal folds can no longer close completely. Air escapes audibly, giving a weak and breathy quality to the voice. The affected vocal fold is no longer able to shorten and thicken effectively in order to produce the low notes we need for our speaking voices, and characteristic breaks into falsetto and diplophonia (described above) will be heard. Several other neurological problems can cause voice changes, for example Parkinson’s’ disease and some types of stroke. One condition, known as spasmodic dysphonia, can make the voice sound tight and strangled. The larynx may suffer external trauma from sports injuries, physical attacks or from seatbelt compression in car accidents. Sometimes the way in which the voice is used may damage the vocal folds. Shouting and screaming or violent coughing for long periods may cause irritation, swelling and occasionally bleeding into the vocal fold. Certain medications may irritate the vocal folds either directly, (e.g. some asthma inhalers), or indirectly by causing coughing and /or dryness (e.g. some blood pressure medications).
Voice problems can also develop even when both vocal folds are healthy and move fully. Conditions affecting the lungs, such as asthma or emphysema, may reduce the power of the airflow so that the voice cannot be efficiently initiated. Changes in the balance of muscle tone between the different muscles groups in the larynx can affect the initiation and maintenance of voicing. It can also precipitate variations in vocal fold closure, which in turn, can alter voice quality, vocal comfort and the stamina of the voice.Occasionally, emotional states caused by life stresses can change our usual ability to control voice production. In its most severe form the voice can be lost completely reducing the sufferer to a whisper or virtually no sound at all. Unfortunately, the emotional nature of the voice loss is usually unconscious, which makes it very difficult for the sufferer to understand why the vocal folds are described as healthy and normal by the examining doctor, but he/she is unable to produce a voice.
What can I do to avoid voice problems?
There a many things you can do to help prevent voice problems developing. Healthy voices respond well to the following:
REST: if you have a throat infection or laryngitis rest your voice and don’t speak more than you have to. A day off work when an infection is acute may well save a week off later on when the laryngitis has become chronic, especially if you have a vocally demanding job.
STEAM: Steam inhalations are very soothing for voices, especially when you have laryngitis or have strained your voice. Your nose and chest like steam too so coughs, blocked noses and inflamed sinuses respond as well. Steam reduces swelling and vocal irritation very effectively. You do not need to add anything in the water and if you do not wish to sit with a towel over your head over a bowl of steaming water a steamy bath, shower or the steam room at the local gym will work just as well.
WATER: Drink plenty of water. 6 to 8 large glasses of water a day are usually recommended. The thin mucus that lubricates your vocal folds (and your nose, throat and chest) depends on the water content of the body. Without plenty of water it becomes thick and sticky. The vocal folds may become dryer and stiffer making them more vulnerable to damage through excessive or inefficient voice use. The sticky mucus can also cause irritation leading to coughing or throat clearing which may further damage the vocal folds. Coffee and tea tend to be have a diuretic effect causing fluid loss through increased urination so are best kept to a minimum.
GOOD POSTURE: Efficient voice production is helped by keeping good posture, especially when using the telephone or working on key boards for long periods. Poor posture can distort your neck/back alignment affecting the resonating spaces in the throat and the control of the laryngeal muscles. It can also affect your breathing patterns reducing breath control and putting strain on the voice.
BREATHING: Take regular exercise to keep your breathing good and your muscles relaxed and supple. Try not to speak while out of breath or speak too long on one breath as too little air can put a strain your voice. If you are breathless or have difficulties with breathing consult your doctor to find out why and what you can do about it.
RELAXATION: Tension in any part of the body tends to generalize and may affect the larynx. Tight tense muscles do not work as efficiently as relaxed muscles producing fatigue and discomfort. Jaw, neck and shoulder exercises can help keep the voice relaxed and classes in such things as Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates or Alexander Technique can be very helpful for general fitness, relaxation and improvements in breathing and posture
VOCAL WARM UPS: The voice is like the rest of the body, it likes to be warmed up before exercise to prevent injury.
VOCAL WARM DOWNS: It is also important to warm the voice down after it has been used heavily, especially after singing or use against noise. Increasing vocal volume to speak above noise is frequently accompanied by a rise in vocal pitch. Singing also relies on the vocal folds being stretched and thinned to raise the pitch. Often the muscle groups responsible for controlling pitch may fail to relax after the singing or shouting has stopped. Very few people are aware that their speaking voice has become a little higher and continue to use it at that pitch. This puts a strain on the vocal folds which may, in time cause fatigue and weakness. Gliding your voice gently down in pitch, especially using sounds that require a stronger airflow, such as a rolled “r” “Z” or “V”, will help relax the pitching mechanism and restore your usual lower speaking voice.
AMPLIFICATION: It is worth considering using amplification if your job requires you to speak above high levels of background noise for long periods. Teachers of aerobics, swimming or dance often find amplifiers reduce the strain on their voices. An internet search should produce a choice of suppliers and most companies are happy to demonstrate amplifiers or agree loans for a trial period. Vocal strain can also be reduced by using a bell or whistle to attract the attention of others who are outside, upstairs or in another room.
Things to avoid where possible:
VOCAL ABUSE: Try to avoid vocal misuse (or abuse) when possible. This will mean keeping shouting, screaming or prolonged voice use against noise to a minimum. Background noise encourages us to speak louder and higher than we normally do, putting a strain on our voices. Even chatting in cars, buses and aircraft can be vocally tiring because of the engine noise. Coughing and throat clearing also irritate the vocal folds. Try sipping water or sucking glycerin based sweets to reduce the need to cough or throat clear and seek medical help if the cough/throat clearing is chronic or persists after infections have cleared. Coughs can sometimes be indicators of other medical problems such as chest disease, asthma, acid indigestion or side effects of medication.
ATMOSPHERIC IRRITANTS: Try to avoid smoke. If you are a smoker try to give up or at least cut right down. Smoke irritates the mucous membranes of the throat, chest and vocal folds, causing stiffening and swelling. It is related to an increased risk of cancers developing in the lungs and larynx. Seek help from your GP. There are many good programmes to help you stop smoking. Smoke is not the only irritant however. Traffic fumes carry similar irritants and should be avoided where possible. Turn the car engine off when stationary and hope others do the same. Wear a mask for jobs that expose you to dust, especially wood dust and flour.
ALCOHOL AND DIETARY IRRITANTS: Some spirits such as whisky or brandy have strong fumes which can exacerbate already irritated vocal folds. Alcohol is also very indigestible making acid indigestion more likely. Many other foods can cause acid indigestion including for example, meals with a high fat content, hot spices and onions. Acid indigestion is a problem because acid can spill back up the oesophagus (gullet) from the stomach causing irritation in the throat, increased mucus and guarding in the laryngeal muscles, making the voice production tighter. Occasionally the acid can spill into the larynx at night causing coughing and choking and irritation to the vocal folds directly.
EMOTION: Be aware of your emotional state. Anger, frustration and anxiety can cause a build up of tension, especially when bottled up and left unexpressed. Tension can cause vocal changes, especially in comfort and stamina. Try to deal with the reasons for your anger or anxiety directly and talk to your GP if you feel that stress and your emotional life are related to your voice problem. A short course of counseling may help you find your emotional balance again.
-Proffessor John Lee
University of bufallo

ORIGIN OF YOUR FEAR-The brain

The brain in the human body is the most distinctive and phenomenol organ of the human body.Brain is what makes us stand out of the animal kingdom and rule the pedigree. In course of evolution we lost almost all our assets of defence but consequently developed a very strong weapon for survival,THE BRAIN.There are enormous advantages of this one organ, unfortunately its not possible to list even half of them in one blog. Now the problem arises when this vital organ starts functioning in undesirable manner underperforming our expectations. It then the worst nightmare.

Every person has his own way of looking at things and approaching problems. This variedness is thinking is quite similar to our fingerprints. But imagine what would happen if all of us adopt the same aspect of living and approaching problems.Well i neednt explain the outcomes. Its obvious, the good would become better and the bad even worse. The same would be the scenerio if all of us get over the fear of public speaking in the same way as those who either dont experiance the fear or gather the strength to face it.This is a bit confusing but there's no simpler way to explain it.One may easily walk on the footsteps of a great speaker grasping everything right from the content to delivery, but how do you follow him in conquering fear.Thats simple, follow me.Yes you are about to read the key to conquer any kind of fear.

The brain in homo-sapiens like all other macroscopic organisms has a thinking partition. One component arising from this partition is the subconcious brain and the other is the concious brain.Speaking more precisely out of the two components of the brain, the former is the root cause of all the problem, the one which creates fear, anxiety, frustration as well as the fight or flight response stimulation. But simulataneously its this subconcious brain which enables us to perform our daily chores with ease and brings perfection in all our activities.Think of the subconscious mind as the storage house of everything that is currently not present in our conscious mind, it stores all our previous life experiences, our belief system, our memories, our skills, all predicaments we've been through, and all images we've ever seen.

To understand the subconscious mind lets take the example of a guy who's just started to learn driving. At first, he wouldn't be able to switch on a conversation with anyone while driving as he would be concentrating on driving safe and practicing different manuvers involved; that's because he's still using his conscious mind to drive. This continues for a couple of weeks.A few weeks later, the driving process comes to him automatically, without having to do any thinking; he'd even initiate a cell phone conversation while driving. This is on account of the fact that the driving information or process has been registered in his subconscious mind and so the conscious mind is free to function on something else, like using his cell phone. The subconscious mind is responsible for the automatically triggered emotions that you suddenly experience upon facing a new situation. Now let's consider the example of you giving a presentation in an auditorium packed with thousands of men, women and children, all fear and anxiety feelings get spontaneously launched and controlled by the subconscious mind.

The conscious mind is on the other hand, responsible for logic, thought and calculations (all actions that are performed under your complete control),all that keeps our presence of mind; the subconscious mind also controls other functions in your body like breathing, heart beats and even our dreams while we sleep. When the information about driving is stored into our subconscious, it's stored as a program.Think yourself as a computer and your mind as a the hard disk of that computer. The driving information gets installed on the hard disk as a software that can be retrieved and run automatically whenever and anywhere needed. The same goes for all our other activities and emotions.Think the case of someone shouting at you, the installed program of anger is launched and the result is a behavior you may ends up regretting later without yourself wishing to end up that way.Through programming the subconscious mind with new programs, you can fix many problems in your personality.

Public speaking is an act which is always dreaded on account of our past experiances or false beliefs accumlated in your subconcious brain. The only way to curb this problem is to re-program your subconcious brain and filling it with instances and experiance which will make you feel "if i have done it till now,i will always do it in the future".

Programming your subconscious brain can be done through hypnosis.Hypnosis can be imagined as a process of formatting a computer i..e removing the unwanted files and folders and leaving the one's used to run a computer. The subconscious mind learns by repetition and not by logic, that is why you can convince someone to believe in something by repeating your argument again and again rather than using logic.Hypnosis is accepted as a golden technique by psycologist all round the globe for treating people suffering from lower levels of self confidence. Its a one time method to eliminate fear from your brain for the rest of your life.Read on my article over hypnosis which deals in detail the procedure of hypnotizing others and oneself. With this we move on to our next topic, which gives us a better insight over fear.

SELF CONFIDENCE-Best tool for public speaking

Self-confidence is the opinion set up by oneself that that you can manage a certain situation correctly and in the desired manner. Self-confidence is knowing that you don't lack any of the necessary skills and techniques in order to successfully complete a task. This task can vary from a social activity like being able to approach someone you don't know, to a professional activity like the ability to complete a desired task that your work or your business needs.Speaking in public is nothing but the display of your self confidence. The biggest problem arising out of lack of self confidence is the judgement which one gives to oneself considering all the past experiances and false notions.Self confidence is always attached to a few things like perfectionism, self image, love etc.Below i have classified a few kinds of problems linked to lack of self confidence.Recognizing the cause itself will solve half the problem. After understanding the right cause our objective would be to develop a new mind structure to help you increase your confidence level.
Self-confidence and Inferiority Complex
One very important thing to note here is whether your lack of self-confidence is because of a deeply rooted inferiority complex. The man was suffering from feelings of inferiority and inadequacy; when such feelings control the behavior to that extent, it is then called inferiority complex. The cause of that man’s inferiority complex is deeply rooted in his childhood; when he was a child he was physically weaker than the other kids his age, which lead to them beating him up, taking his lunch and calling him names. Years later, he is now a very reknowned social person, academically very successful and a great basketball player. Yet, the feelings of inferiority are still lingering there.Simply put, inferiority complex is a disorder that develops as a result of feeling inferior when compared to your peers or friends. This can act as a barrier to building self-confidence and so it is essential to deal with it first.
Self-confidence and Commiting Mistakes
Some parents shout at their children as soon as they break something, stain their clothes, forget to do their chores, dirty the house or any other minor mistake. Treating a child in this way results in him thinking that doing something wrong is shameful and that making mistakes makes him different from other perfect people who do not make mistakes. When this child grows up and makes a certain mistake in front in public, like dropping a glass or having something go wrong during a presentation, it appears to him as an embarrassing situation and will cause him to think that he is not up to the standard of other people. These kinds of thoughts will gradually but surely damage his confidence.A parent's role should be building self-confidence in their children by encouraging and supporting them to try new things and not to be afraid of making mistakes. The parent should teach them that, as a human being, error's are unavoidable; so it's best to accept your mistakes without criticizing or labeling yourself.
Self-confidence and Perfectionism
Another great cause for a lack of self-confidence is being a perfectionist. A perfectionist always sets impossible goals and very high standards that he can never meet and this causes his confidence to degrade as he success escapes him again and again. One example of these impossible standards could be "I must never make mistakes if I want to be great at what I do".
Lack of Self-confidence and Assertiveness
A lack of assertiveness in communication can also lead to having less confidence of your abilities. If you are assertive, this will help you feel that you are in control, important and more worthy of respect and attention. Assertiveness is the ability to express yourself and needs without being aggressive; it's also the way of communication that makes you stand up for your rights and never let them go while at the same time avoiding violating others' rights.
Lack of Self-confidence and Poor Self Image
Sometimes the underlying cause for a lack of self-confidence is having a poor self image. An example of this is if you think that you are ugly and so lack confidence whenever you meet new people. In order to know whether or not your lack of self-confidence is rooted in your poor self image; there is a small test that you can do: If you find that you feel more confident wearing your best shirt and much less confident when wearing something else, then your lack of confidence may be a direct result of the poor self image you have of yourself. In that case, fixing your poor mental self image is all what you have to do to restore your self-confidence.If you found a way to convince people that you are confident you will definitely have more fans and you will increase your chance of making someone fall in love with you.
Lack of Self-confidence and Negative Self-talk
Usually, the lack of self confidence is associated with negative self talk; which are the negative phrases and words you keep telling yourself while doing your normal thinking process. Stopping those negative words and phrases and replacing them with positive ones can not only increase your confidence but can help in fixing many of your emotional problems.
Self-confidence and Knowledge
When you know the benefit of something that you do regularly, you will be much more confident talking about it and doing it than if you were just doing it out of habit. Although you shouldn't have to provide an explanation to other people for what you, the power of knowing can still give your self-confidence a big boost.
Self-confidence and Comparing Yourself to Others
Some people have developed the terrible habit of always comparing themselves to others; what's worse is that they choose to compare criteria that almost always puts them at the weak end of the comparison. They ignore all that is great about them and pick just this one thing that they lack and compare it to others. On finding that they are different, they feel less confident about themselves and their abilities. This behavior only results in damaging their already worn self-confidence.
Fear and Lack of Self-confidence
Do you know that fear can also steal some of your self-confidence? If you are afriad of ghosts or of the dark, your subconscious mind will probably be a bit perplexed as to why you think you should feel confident when you find yourself helpless in certain harmless situations like being alone in the dark. The more helpless you feel, the more your self-confidence will erode as a result. You can still be confident even when afraid of something, but facing your fears will make you that much more confident than you already are.

HYPNOSIS-Train your brain to speak fearlessly

Introduction To hypnosis
Hypnosis is a scientifically verified and effective technique that can help you change your behaviour, improve your mental health and even quit bad habits. You can use hypnosis to lose weight, to stop drinking and smoking,to set goals and even to increase self confidence.Hypnosis process involves getting you in a very relaxed state where you subconscious mind becomes open and receptive for receiving suggestions, and so using those suggestions new beliefs and thoughts could be sent to the mind.
Myths surrounding hypnosis
The media misused its right by mutating the picture people have for hypnosis, today when you say the word hypnosis in front of someone the first thing he will think of is that you will make him sleep then ask him to accomplish some crime, while on the contrary to this hypnosis is a scientific method that is approved for use as a method of therapy since long time ago.

Hypnosis does not involve being totally unconscious nor sleeping instead you stay conscious and aware of what is surrounding while being hypnotized but the only difference is that your conscious mind becomes a little bit dormant than its usually is and your subconscious mind becomes a little bit more vigilant than it normally is.Using hypnosis you cannot force someone to do what he doesn’t want to do nor say what he doesn’t want to say, just think of hypnosis as a state of a very deep relaxation while being receptive to suggestions but still aware of the surroundings. What is the state of hypnosis like?the state of hypnosis is exactly the same as the state you experience when you stay in bed just before you fall asleep, its the state of being half awake or half sleeping. This state is called trance state.During the trance state the conscious mind becomes a little less effective and so it does not filter the suggestions and information received, instead it allows everything in.Under normal circumstances you won’t believe anything that you hear, because your conscious mind filters whatever it does not like, so if I told you that you are a confident person you may not believe me, however under the state of trance your conscious mind wont be there to filter this information and so it will go directly to the subconscious and stay there.

Even in television advertisements, if you saw pepsi commercial telling you that you must buy pepsi while being fully awake, it may not have a great impact on you , however if you were to experience that while being in hypnotic state you may go and buy pepsi immediately because the suggestions and affirmations went unfiltered by the conscious mind. And that’s why some companies used subliminal messages to program the minds of the audience to buy more of their product while watching their commercials which resulted in a larger sales volume. After knowing this, you may have already guessed that if you bypassed someone's conscious mind you may be able to convince him with what you want because your opinion will go unfiltered to his subconscious mind, just like the company in the previous example did.
What i can do with hypnosis?
Hypnosis is very useful because being in such a state where the subconscious is more awake ,it becomes very easy to program it, to put new beliefs or to strengthen the old ones, and since the subconscious mind is what controls behaviour and senses, we can install totally new behaviour patterns.Think of the strength and control you will have on yourself when having ability to modify the old unwanted beliefs and thoughts, think of what your life will be like if you were able to remove the negative beliefs about yourself self image, about being inferior or about being unable to succeed. Using self hypnosis all of this can come true.
Self hypnosis
What is great about hypnosis is that you can do all of process alone by hypnotizing yourself then using a recorded tape for suggestions, so you wont be in need for someone else to help you. This process is called self hypnosis. If you want to try self hypnosis(don't worry its safe) just go ahead and a grab any small object that you can tie to a thread to form a small pendulum, after doing so hold the thread from above and let the pendulum freely swing sideways , then focus on the pendulum while its swinging and start to visualize the small object going into round circles instead of just going sideways, few moments later you will find that the object moving in circles although you didn't do that on intention, what happened here is that the suggestions went to your subconscious mind and caused your muscles to move in such a way so that it drove the object in a circular motion, congratulations, you have just made your first successful hypnosis experiment !!

Self hypnosis is almost the same as this experiment you just did , the only difference is that you will be in the deep trance state(the state where you your conscious mind will be half awake) while hearing suggestions . Let's look at a real self hypnosis test this time . Go on and do the following steps:
1-Go to a calm place where you can relax and where no one can disturb you.
2-Lie on your back on a bed or comfortable sofa.
3-Close your eyes and start to breath deeply, the more deep you can breath the higher the success percentage.
4-Start now to focus on each part of your body and visualize it relaxing. for example focus your thinking on your right arm, feel it and then visualize it relaxing, you can use words like "relax" or phrases like "i am relaxing now",after relaxing your right arm turn your focus to your left arm and do the same , and so on until you pass by all of your body parts, finally focus on your whole body and visualize it all relaxing.
5-You can repeat that several times until you feel you are really about to sleep.
6-Now imagine that a a helium balloon is tied to your right arm and that it is pulling it up and that the helium balloon is so large so that it can lift your arm up, keep imagining the balloon pulling your arm up.
7-Wow, your arm may have started to fly up!! , again you are successful!!Using self hypnosis you can acieve remarkable milestone. But its not as simple as it seem to be.Remember you may not succeed in a first few attempts but never lose hope.Constant practice can only help you be like one whom you want to.
The question which arise now is if it is so simple why dosent everybody use it and be candid.Well there are two reasons for it:
(A)The right technique has always been preserved by the professionals. You may find it in many books and internet articles but the correct method is always kept confidential. Before presenting this article i tried consulting expert psycologists and extraxt the maximum possible.Additional information has been incorporated from books written on human behaviour and fundamental reflexes.
(B)The second widespread reason for this method being unpopular with the common folk is that such things have always been mentioned in films, science fictions and all super human affairs making it people to believe "its never possible","just a waste of time"etc. But i firmly believe that if you perform all what i just mentioned above in the right manner and without losing your hope you will surely succeed.I personally believe, practising once a day,it takes nearly 1 month to 40 days to see a considerable change in your life.

YOGA-speak from your soul

Yoga,a very authentic and precious form of art has been greatly acclaimed by our contemporary society these days.Yoga has this peculiar power to redesign and restructure your speaking potential thereby making it more appreciable. To be concise, yoga does not eliminate or destroy your fear but it helps you get over it.When you get strong control over your voice its very certain the magnitude of fear while public speaking will surely get down making your public speaking a happy and contended experiance. What yoga basically does is it establishes a co-relation between the brain, body and speech(aatma, shareer and dhvani). The outcome is a clear,high-pitch resonant voice with zero error and thereby making your voice being heard distinctly in public with positive appraises.During my tour to india i came across this staggering experiance to learn yoga from men who carried this tradition over 2000 years. To my surprise,i found that yoga possesses the ability to heal even those diseases like cancer,HIV etc. for which medical science has got only research to do with no results. When i cofronted some reknowned yogis(thats the name given to yoga preachers) i found some beautiful poses and excercise which when practised over a fotnight can drastically cure stammering, voice weakness and thereby constructing an appropriate voice to suit all the requirments of a good public speaker.Thats all i can put in words but believe me there is lot more that yoga has for you. There's no boundary to halt yoga's usefulness perfectly compatible with your pursuit, the more you demand the more will it offer.A few benifits which people discovered at our vocal training centre which i felt sharing with you are stated below:
• You learn exactly what your vocal range is and why – your vocal range is determined by the shape, number and quality of the sinus cavities in your head.
• You discover how to create the very best tone your voice is capable of making – when you can keep as many muscles as possible out of the way of creating a pure tone in the head, you have the basis of beautiful, unencumbered musical sound.
• You feel the difference in your own body – singing feels healthy, beautiful and under your control. If it feels right, it actually is right. The reverse is true as well – if it feels wrong, then there is some work to be done, usually in releasing some tension and muscular effort that is getting in the way of the tone.
• A side benefit includes keeping the sinuses free and clear – it actually helps your overall health in addition to your vocal health. Yoga exercises have been used solely for the purposes of keeping the head cavities clear, and can be helpful for people with allergies and other problems which create mucus in the sinuses.
• Yoga can be used to improve your speaking voice and your vocal projection – they are excellent for actors, teachers and public speakers as well as for singers. In general, if one is just using the exercises for speaking purposes, the vocal range is more limited and focused on the actual speaking voice than in singing training.
• For children, I tend to break it down to very basic, easy-to-understand exercises. I think the sinus concepts are too difficult for most children to grasp, so I try to give them exercises they can easily understand and have fun with.
To start with, yoga gives you relief only when performed in the right manner and in the right sequence.Yoga has no side effect so there's nothing to worry if you break the rules, but still you are putting your time so you ought to be serious and abide by the rules. The first and the golden excercise is the pranayama.Pranayama provides a whole list of 108 benifits of which enhancing your vocal praan (vocal power) is one. Before we move on to the steps of pranayam here are some points to be kept in mind while practising Yoga:
1)The yoga postures should always, if possible, be practiced out-of-doors, or by an open window. 2)Yoga should be practiced on an empty stomach or at least three hours after eating.
3)Don't practice immediately after strenuous activity. Don't practice very long, moreover, that the postures themselves result in over-exertion and fatigue.
4)The postures should not be practiced, save with the greatest of caution, when the body is unwell. Any posture that gives rise to a feeling of pain (other than muscular) in the chest, abdomen, or brain should be abandoned until the cause of pain has been ascertained. People with high blood pressure should avoid all but the most gentle poses.
5)The duration of each posture must be increased gradually. People beginning these postures after middle age should be particularly careful to start slowly, with the easier poses, only bit by bit working up to the more difficult ones.
6)It is important, finally, to stress that persons who want to devote a great deal of time to these postures—to become, in short, hatha yogis, rather than persons who use hatha yoga as a means of achieving a more balanced, normal life—should practice them under a competent guide. Hatha yoga is not to be gone into deeply on one's own.
PRANAYAMA
'Pranayama' is the fourth stage in Pathanjali's eight stage Yoga discipline. Two Sanskrit words are combined in the word 'Pranayama' - Prana and Ayama. 'Prana' means life or life force. 'Ayama' means development or control. Therefore Pranayama is the development and control of life force. It is a form of breathing exercise, very important in yoga. It goes along with the asanas or exercise.Breath is the life force that sustains life. Nobody can survive more than a few minutes without air. When the breath stops, life ends. The Forefathers of Yoga developed a special system- 'Pranayama' to increase, develop and control this life force. Normal breathing use only a fraction of our potential respiratory capacity. Pranayama helps to control this life force in a superior and extra ordinary way to reap maximum benefits.

Ujjayi
Ujjayi is often called the "sounding" breath or "ocean sounding" breath, and somewhat irreverently as the "Darth Vader" breath. It involves constricting the back of the throat while breathing to create an "ah" sound -- thus the various "sounding" names.BenefitsFocuses the mindIncreases mindfulness Generates internal heat
How to do it
1. Come into a comfortable seated position with your spine erect, or lie down on your back. Begin taking long, slow, and deep breaths through the nostrils.
2. Allow the breath to be gentle and relaxed as you slightly contract the back of your throat creating a steady hissing sound as you breathe in and out. The sound need not be forced, but it should be loud enough so that if someone came close to you they would hear it.
3. Lengthen the inhalation and the exhalation as much as possible without creating tension anywhere in your body, and allow the sound of the breath to be continuous and smooth. To help create the proper "ah" sound, hold your hand up to your mouth and exhale as if trying to fog a mirror. Inhale the same way. Notice how you constrict the back of the throat to create the fog effect. Now close your mouth and do the same thing while breathing through the nose.Dirgha PranayamaDirgha Pranayama Known as the "complete" or "three-part" breath, dirgha pranayama teaches how to fill the three chambers of the lungs, beginning with the lower lungs, then moving up through the thoracic region and into the clavicular region.
Benifits
Promotes proper diaphragmatic breathing, relaxes the mind and body, oxygenates the blood and purges the lungs of residual carbon dioxide.
How to do it
Sit with your spine erect, or lie down on your back. Begin taking long, slow, and deep breaths through the nostrils. As you inhale, allow the belly to fill with air, drawing air deep into the lower lungs. As you exhale, allow the belly to deflate like a balloon. Repeat several times, keeping the breath smooth and relaxed, and never straining. Repeat several times.Breathe into your belly as in Step #1, but also expand the mid-chest region by allowing the rib cage to open outward to the sides. Exhale and repeat several times.Follow steps #1 and #2 and continue inhaling by opening the clavicular region or upper chest. Exhale and repeat.Combine all three steps into one continuous or complete flow.
Nadi Shodhana
Nadi Shodhana, or the sweet breath, is simple form of alternate nostril breathing suitable for beginning and advanced students. Nadi means channel and refers to the energy pathways through which prana flows. Shodhana means cleansing -- so Nadi Shodhana means channel cleaning.
Benefits
Calms the mind, soothes anxiety and stress, balances left and right hemispheres, promotes clear thinking.
How to do it
Hold your right hand up and curl your index and middle fingers toward your palm. Place your thumb next to your right nostril and your ring finger and pinky by your left. Close the left nostril by pressing gently against it with your ring finger and pinky, and inhale through the right nostril. The breath should be slow, steady and full. Now close the right nostril by pressing gently against it with your thumb, and open your left nostril by relaxing your ring finger and pinky and exhale fully with a slow and steady breath.Inhale through the left nostril, close it, and then exhale through the right nostril. That's one complete round of Nadi Shodhana --Inhale through the right nostrilExhale through the leftInhale through the leftExhale through the right.Begin with 5-10 rounds and add more as you feel ready. Remember to keep your breathing slow, easy and full.

The Plough (Hala Asana)
Hala asana is a simple yogic posture yet very effective in overcoming many medical problems.Experts rate its difficulty level 3/5.This posture offers innumerable advantages through reverse blood circulation. The only caution to maintain is that you shouldnt over pressurize your cervical areas else things turn out to be the other way.BenefitsEffective for Asthma, throat problems, Back ache, Depression, Sciatica, Headache, Sexual debility Rheumatoid Arthritis, Bronchitis, Sinus, Congestion,Premenstrual tension etc.Description of the asana
1)Lie down on your back with your legs together and your palms on your sides.
2)Inhale & raise your legs up.
3)Exhale first and then inhale.4)Bring your hips up off the floor.
5)Support your back with your hand, keeping your elbows as close to one another as possible.
6)Without bending your knees, exhale and bring your legs down behind your head.
7)If you cannot yet touch the floor with your feet, keep on breathing in this position. If your feet comfortably reach the floor, walk them as far behind your head possible.
8)With your feet curled under, push your torso up and your heels back.9)Now clasp your hands together. Breathe slowly and deeply.
The Breath-Body-Voice Connection
The vocal cords are the oscillator of the voice but without the flow of air to excite them they remain quiet. Without air there is no sound. To attempt to use one's voice without air will only cause vocal tension and possible throat damage. So, it is paramount that the person get in touch with their breathing and learn breath management skills. When the actor learns to make the breath-body-voice connection the results are dramatic. Yoga will teach the person how to breath from the core of the body and then release the voice freely connected to the breath. To increase the strenghth of your breath anulom vilom is found to be the best suited yoga excercise. It not only cleans your nasal areas but also provides a free space for your orginal voice to articlute and be bold enough to stay unaffected by any kind of fear arisng in you.Just a constant practise for 1 month makes your vocal cord so hard that yoy start taking pride over your manly and confident voice.
Anulom Vilom
Anulom vilom pranayam is another type of pranayama. In this breathing technique, you inhale from one nostril at one time and release the breath through the the other nostril. You alternate between the two nostril at a regular comfortable pace. Here is
How you do it:
1)Close your eyes and relax. Sit in this position for a couple of minutes till you settle down.
2)Close your right nostril with your right thumb.
3)Breath in from your left nostril.Breath in from your left nostril.Hold the breath for a couple of seconds.
4)Open right nostril and close left nostril with middle and ring finger
5)Breath out from right nostril.6)Breathe in from right nostril, close the right nostril .
7)Open left nostril and breathe out.
8)Repeat again, steps 1 through 7.You can practice this pranayama for bout 5-6 minutes per day.Anulom Vilom pranayam is said to have benefited people with Heart ailments, high blodd pressure, heart blockages, depression, migraine pain, asthma, sinus, allergyIt is important that you breathe deep into your lungs and not into the stomach. Most elements that absorb oxygen are in your lungs.

BUILD YOUR VOICE-Harsh and heavy

Harsh and heavy voice is something for which many men aspire throughout their lives.Speculations are that harsh and heavy voice is a symbol of masculinity,it makes you stand out of the crowd, makes you heard and earns you respect. In Japan, men practice their whole lives to not have a "soft" voice. Some of these opinions are true to some extent.According to a greek myth heavy voice is said to be a feature of strong men.But sceintifically heaviness in voice has nothing to do with strength and power. The right tuning of the glottis and required amount of strain on the voice box would be enough to make your voice loud, clear, thunderous and yes heavy too.

Heavyness in your voice depends on the kind of work you do and how much you speak on an average. For eg. body builders have heavy voice because lifting weights strengthens your neck muscles due to which their voice gets more compressed.Similarly a few teachers and proffessors have harsh voice because they make extensive use of their voice at higher overtone which permanantly soars their throat. What i illustrate here is a few thoughts from the internet,my personal experiances derived while experimenting with my vocal cords and a few excercises my cousin learned in the heavy metal training school. It took me nearly a month to adjust my vocal cords to the optimum pitch and gain some heaviness in my voice.

Before we start i want all you to know that excercises enlisted here can damage your throat miraculuously if performed out of hyper-energy and excitement.Stay cool and calm and let things happen in course of time.Nothing will be visible in one or two days.To take effect it would almost take a months. And lastly a disclaimer"I dont take any responsiblity if you rumple your voice, damage your larynx or vocal folds and ultimately leak out your voice".
Things To Do
1)The smooth muscles of your throat should not ever hurt while preforming death metal or black metal vocals. When you first start out the exterior muscles of the throat will become sore from holding your throat in a new position though.
2)The sound should be originating from the spot in your throat located at the center of your collar bone where it dips in a bit. Growl from that spot.
3)Be a badass and learn how to sing clean vocals as well, you'll be more useful in a band.4)Constantly experiment with what your throat can do!
5)Learn to control rasp and phlegm. Rasp = air coming up; phlegm = saliva in your mouth/throat .
6)Harsh vocals will grow in volume as you gain skill with them and use them correctly.Don't use distortion or effects to cover any lack of vocal ability. It sounds bad and it's obvious why you did it.
7)To create a more "brutal" sound, you can experiment with saliva in your mouth. It can be trapped between your tongue and throat. It's that "gurgling" you hear in many songs. An open throat is the key. The notes sung and air must come up with ease. One can use their tongue to deflect air being forced up and change tone. The lips are the second method of changing tone. You should never change tone by tightening your throat. There are many techs used in harsh vocals, but keep with a simple growl and scream until you've gained quite the skill within this vocal type.
8)Warm up your voice before giving a public performance. "Warming up" can mean anything from singing midtone melodies to delivering your vocal patterns in a clean chest tone. Even humming for 5 minutes would be more beneficial to you than not warming up your voice at all. When performing live, drink lukewarm water in between songs. Cold water shocks the voice and warm water...well, it doesn't taste that great. Following these simple rules will help protect and strengthen your vocal chords.
9)A good way to practice your grunts is to say the letters a,e,i,o,n,u. As you get better at your grunts, try doing this faster.
10)The "cookie monster" effect cannot be reproduced by straining your voice. That will only damage your vocal chords. You have to push through your abdomen. All of your vocal strength comes from the diaphragm. It also helps if your back is in a fixed position. Don't slouch or leave your spine limp. Inhale and belt out a deep roar by loosening your vocal chords. Your throat has to be relaxed in order for your growl to rumble with intensity. Again, don't force your voice to crack. If it still doesn't crack, then your vocal chords simply weren't made for pitch will be lower. This inhaling technique can produce an extreme range of pitch, allowing you to both grunt and squeal like a pig. The incoming airflow will be nowhere near the volume of normal speech. You will need to speak using exaggerated lip movements and the front of the tongue while keeping the back of the tongue muscle in place. While an "inhale vocal tech" may sound "cool", be careful using it. It can (and likely will) damage your vocal cords. The inhale sound can still be created from properly done harsh vocals but requires range needed.
11)Don't smoke, and if you insist on drinking, drink in moderation. Smoking may deepen your voice, but it will also reduce your breath support. Delivering death vocals requires a great deal of energy, and drugs of any sort will only emasculate your staying power. Exercise wouldn't hurt. You'll need strong neck muscles to support the pressure that extreme metal vocals put on your neck area.
12)How your mouth is shaped will help define the tone of your voice, i.e., if your mouth is opened like a fish' mouth, a lower tone can be achieved. Also, cupping your hands around the microphone will not only make your voice louder, but it can also help to deliver deeper growls.

Over time you'll learn your range, skills increase and you can try to achieve a distilled commanding voice.Once you form the habit of speaking harshly with a monotonous heavy voice the delivery of your stage speech sounds less diffident giving you great relief and satisfaction.Thats all what i learned and know to the best of my knowledge.

VOCAL WARMUP & THINGS TO REMEMBER

Warming up your voice box before a public presentation is a greatly misinterpreted topic. Many people, especially the one's who refer the internet are often misguided with irrelevant vocal excercises which in no way do any good to your presentation. Some of these sites, even the prominent one's lack information in this context.(Here i dont proclaim others wrong. But unlike others i have a scientific reason to back up).Usually what you find there is stuff like;uttering a few vowels and music notes, making different sounds etc. but trust me nothing happen to work on the day of presentation amidst nervousness and stage fright.Even the authors of those articles know this but they got no other alternative than filling up space with anything possible. Here i make an attempt to publish something orginal and effective warmups which i developed through my experiances.Everything posted here has been thoroughly reviewed by vocal experts and ENT's.

Vocal warmup is a very vital tool excel in public speaking. All the actors and professional performers are taught this on the very first day at their office.Till date i havent come accross any great speaker who makes a speech without a vocal warmup. It never looks good when you clean your throat "mrrrrrr hrrrr grrrr" in the microphone before begining with your speech. This basically reveals your unreadiness to speak which makes the crowd less attentive to hear you.If you want the crowd to hear you and give better response whats most important is delivering energy while speaking. If you give energy you get it back in return from the crowd.

"The first blow is half the battle",this itself is a cue for a vocal warmup.Vocal warmup is predominantly more advantageous when you are a less frequent public speaker or a if you need to speak for long hours.Your articulation will become more clear and crisp. You'll be easier to understand. And as you strengthen your speech muscles, you'll be able to talk longer without vocal fatigue.Speaking scientifically, the larynx is a contractive part of the throat.During vocal warmups the larynx expands and the vocal cord becomes broader which prevents losing of breath, heavy breathing and useless speaking complications. Now perform these steps before walking in for a speech:

1)Before going for a speech, drink plenty of water and clear your throat.Never eat something before speech, specially avoid sweet and sticky foods nearly 4 hours before speaking.

2)Swallow something that clears your throat, something like mint.My personal preferance is drinking water boiled with basil leaves.

3)Sing for a few minutes. This would increase the fluency of your speech. While singing your right brain gets activated which is responsible for recognizing patterns and similarities. This will enable you to be more outspoken and steadfast with your points.

4)Strech your voice i.e. hold one sound for as long as your breath persists.Like "aaaaaaaaa","hooooooooo"etc.Start it with lower voulume and gradually increase it.There's no particular logic behind doing this but in some way it does help you while speaking.

5)Gargling is a very good way to clean your throat.Coughing while speaking is something very common and something very irritating.Gargling helps you get rid of this.Gargling with luke warm water mixed with turmeric is found to be more beneficial.

6)After drinking water, rotate your neck in all possible direction.Rotate very slowly for nearly 5 minutes. Then jerk your neck sidewards and vertically.Be cautioned while jerking.Jerking suddenly or forcefully can be disasterous at times.

7)Hold your adam's apple and give it a mild shake.Do the same while performing step-4.This helps you adjust your overtone and gives better understanding of your voice.

8)Excercise your tongue.Roll it back and then forward.Make the tip of the tongue touch all the teeth. Its just a way of warming up your tongue muscles.Remember, doing this for long can exhaust your tongue which shall cause more slip of tongues and stuttering.

DO's & DONT's
Things start getting on your nerve if left for the last day.Although you are expected to practise yoga and vocal excercises long before your final performance still if a few habits are cultivated and a few discarded then your performance will culminate at a spectacular concert.Remember there can be a large number of spectators gathered but there may be a very few audience to listen to you.Just a few do's and dont's is enough to convert all the spectators into audience. These few things which i am about to reveal will forecast a good result eventhough many of them wont be able to answer your"why?" still its always been recommended by professors and politicians who speak nearly everyday.

1)Make a habit of speaking as less as possible.Speaking unecessarilly not only sucks away our vocal strength but also increses errors while speaking.Speaking when asked to speak is a policy adopted by professional speakers.May be thats what makes them professional in speaking.

2)Try to learn new and different languages.Every language has its own set of sound and pronunciations(phonectics).Learning new languages inculcates new ways of speaking.

3)Avoid shouting and screaming.Indulging in useless debates and arguements make things even worse.Experts say there is something like argumentative speech which is often heard from religious leaders who speak with prejudice, prosecution and is always criticised by everybody.Unwanted debates can build your thinking and speaking protocol in such a manner.

4)Deep breathing deepens your voice.Practise deep breathing through meditation whenever time permits.Running is regarded as the best way to keep your lungs healthy. After 30's the upper lungs falls weak and is hardly inflated. For men in their 30's its more advisable to excercise everyday.Smoking and drinking weakens your lungs too,so avoid them.

4)Restrain from the consumption of caffiene.Caffiene is abundantly found in tea and coffee. Its a drug which is responsible for causing tremors.Caffiene accelerates the adrenal secretions as a result of which speaking in nervousness becomes more difficult.

5)Sleep well before addressing a speech.Sleep plays the most crucial role in bringing effectiveness to your speech. It fills your speech with energy and enthusiasm.

6)A good way to reduce your nervousness on the day of your speech is to bring that fear haunting in your sub-concious mind into your concious mind.Say it to yourself "yes today i am going to make a speech.Nothing will go wrong. If something happens i dont care about the criticism."

noreply@blogger.com (mark the much awaited moment of your life and start concieveing an idea about the speech. After hypnotising,Yoga and other vocal excercises you must,by now feel confident enough to get on stage and give your best. But still good voice and confidence is not just what the audience has gathered to see and hear.Ninty percent of their focus is going to be on content and presentation.Content is what you got to say to them or put it this way what you want them to hear and presentation is how you want them to hear.Since both these acts are to be done on your part,if anything goes wrong our subconcious mind makes us feel "my world is over, there's nothing left for me","i would be profusely stigmatized" and all the meanest of thoughts creep in within few fraction of seconds.

Just imagine it this way, after having used the best of all the imported ingradients when your fauvorite, mesmerizing and mouth watering italian sausage becomes more salty or more spicy is there any appreciation for the richness of the ingradients used?Similarly inspite of having everthing done,if your presentation or content fails to reach up the mark, there's nothing you get or at the most what you get is a sarcastic applaud.

I have been a public speaker for the last 3 years and my exposure to the public makes me believe that of the ninty percent crowd which is focused on your speech, eighty percent of them have their ears and eyeballs glued to your presentation rather content.Everyone may or may not understand your content but everybody do inspect each single move and every act you perform before them.Consequently it becomes inevitible to put up a flawless presentataion.Afterall so many people have invested their valuable time, invested their money in coming there,so its never justified to dishearten them and put down their expectations.

A bit of research and some experiance has taught me a few ways to cheer up my audience. These tips and techniques are expected to impress any kind of audience may it be a classroom or a business conference.Quite honestly speaking once you grasp them up and master over it,you'll never afford to speak without them even during informal conversations. These are simple guidelines cum stratergies which have a true visible impact, which gives you tremendous motivation and energy to continue.

1)Always start your speech with a greeting.Never make a mistake to directly get over your point. While greeting, the public actually starts warming up for a speech from you. There is no use of speaking if the audience is not ready to hear you.Its always recommended to start with "good morning,afternoon............" thats because in one way this shows your presence of mind.If there are different sections and categories of people then greet them seperately.Everybody likes being called in the microphone. If some guest or important personality is present at the speech greet them first individually.

2)Secondly introduce yourself.Untill you are a famous person out there nobody knows you,so its better to introduce yourself if your name hasent been called out prior to your speech. After introducing yourself, introduce your content. If not content then start of with things that would make the crowd happy. What i prefer is starting with a witty anecdote quoting it this way "Just before coming here................,when i was on my way to come here.....................".Making the people smile gives ultimate confidence and relaxes you.

3)Know the needs of your audience and match your contents to their needs. Know your material thoroughly. Put what you have to say in a customized sequence. Practice and rehearse your speech at home or where you can be at ease and comfortable, in front of a mirror, your family, friends or colleagues. Use a tape-recorder and listen to yourself. Videotape your presentation and analyze it. Know what your strong and weak points are. Emphasize your strong points during your presentation.

4)Speak using logic of everyday life.Use small parodies to enhance crowd anticipation.Idioms, epigrams and sayings add colours to your speech. All this constitutes a very representive speech.

5)How you are being perceived is very important. Dress appropriately for the occasion. Be solemn if your topic is serious. presenting the desired image to your audience. Look pleasant, enthusiastic, confident, proud, but not arrogant and remain calm. Appear relaxed, even if you feel nervous. Speak slowly, enunciate clearly, and show appropriate emotion and feeling relating to your topic. Speak to the person farthest away from you to ensure your voice is loud enough to project to the back of the room. Vary the tone of your voice and dramatize if necessary. If a microphone is available, adjust and adapt your voice accordingly.

6)Body language is important. Standing, walking or moving about with appropriate hand gesture or facial expression should not depict the inner fear.Keep your hands in motion and never adopt a defensive posture i.e. folding the arms or sliding the body weight on one leg. Wear coloured glasses if the eyes keep blinking or tear in fear.

7)Master the use of presentation software such as PowerPoint well before your presentation. These days digital presentation has become rampant. Do something new like a playback song or some flash effects. Yes but dont torture your audience by putting a lengthy document in tiny print on and reading it out to them.

8)Speak with conviction as if you really believe in what you are saying but dont order or command. Try speaking as a first person using the pronoun 'I' or 'ME'. The material you present orally should have the same ingredients as that which are required for a written research paper, i.e. a logical progression from INTRODUCTION (Thesis statement) to BODY (strong supporting arguments, accurate and up-to-date information) to CONCLUSION (re-state thesis, summary, and logical conclusion).

9)Do not read from notes for any length of time although it is quite acceptable to glance at your notes infrequently. This reduces the audience anticipation which in turn reduces the energy of the presentation.Even in case you havent prepared your speech you can use a small trick.Be situational and find an excuse. For eg. once i had a very important notice to announce but dint memorize it.My image there was as a good speaker. So obviously i couldnt walk up there and read.Consequently i built an hypothetical story.I said "Its an announcement which no one would believe even if i declared it a 100 times so better i read the whole notice in your presence".This way escaped using simple common sense.

10)If you happen to make a small mistake, never correct it or plead for a sorry.Usually the crowd seldom notices for small mistakes.By correcting it you are actually highlighting your mistake and bringing it in notice of those people who failed to hear it the first time.If you make a big blunder with your content or mispronounce a big word you must duly apologize for it.

11)Maintain sincere eye contact with your audience. Use the 3-second method, e.g. look straight into the eyes of a person in the audience for 3 seconds at a time. Have direct eye contact with a number of people in the audience, and every now and then glance at the whole audience while speaking. Use your eye contact to make everyone in your audience feel involved.

12)Speak to your audience, listen to their questions, respond to their reactions, adjust and adapt. If what you have prepared is obviously not getting across to your audience, change your strategy mid-stream if you are well prepared to do so. Remember that communication is the key to a successful presentation. If you are short of time, dont rush. Again switch to your common sense.Say this, "I guess i spoke a lot by now.Its time for others to have a chance or its time to give you some rest".

13)Pause. Allow yourself and your audience a little time to reflect and think. Don't race through your presentation and leave your audience, as well as yourself, feeling out of breath. When and where to pause is again situation dependent.Tragic things need to be said at a slow pace.Audience must be given time to express condolences.

14)Add humour whenever appropriate and possible. Keep audience interested throughout your entire presentation. Remember that an interesting speech makes time fly, but a boring speech is always too long to endure even if the presentation time is the same.Humour must come embedded in the speech.Irrelvant jokes diverts the attention therby miscommunicating the actual point.

15)Have handouts ready and give them out at the appropriate time. Tell audience ahead of time that you will be giving out an outline of your presentation so that they will not waste time taking unnecessary notes during your presentation.

16)To end your presentation, summarize your main points in the same way as you normally do in the CONCLUSION of a written paper. Remember, however, that there is a difference between spoken words appropriate for the ear and formally written words intended for reading. Terminate your presentation with an interesting remark or an appropriate punch line.Punch lines can be any quotes from great leaders. Leave your listeners with a positive impression and a sense of completion. Do not belabor your closing remarks. Thanks the audience and sit down.Or try something innovative "Thank you very much to listen me patiently" ,"Good Luck and Good Bye".

Although i am quite sure all these tips would hardly make it to the stage performance but keep trying. As i said in my previous section, subconcious mind learns through repetitions.Keep repeating and keep incorporating your own creative inputs.Have the desire to suceed and you will. Thanks for reading!!!!!!!!
