What is brilliant about the Feast of Fun or FOF is that its proprietors, Fausto Fernos and Marc Felion, have built it up on  donations and very limited advertising.  This is truly a homegrown operation which  personifies the opportunities on the Internet offered to the common man who is willing to put in the time , energy and commitment.

I truly believe that as time moves on, they will be recognized as one of the major influential voices of the GLBT community in this century.  These guys from Chicago have tapped into what makes the community tick!

Looks like all the hours at the gym paid off for Levi, hope he looks back on the photoshoot as a good descision on his life. I haven’t seen the photos on Playgirl, so I’m still left wondering if he showed off any more of his rod or bod.

The Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus is doing this song in our upcoming show, “Christmas Follies,” with full choreography and an incredible choral arrangement.  I have a feeling this song’s going to blow the roof off the sucka!  (Visit cgmc.org for ticket information!)

Details are thin on the ground at the moment, but a Cisco spokesperson said the new model will feature “a large screen that slides to reveal the record and menu buttons underneath” allowing users to see what is going on when they are recording video.

I can see all sorts of wonderful hi-jink’s being uploaded live, on location. This is the beginning of citizen journalism. I want one!

The USPS has added stricter guidelines to it’s “Letters to Santa” program after a registered sex-offender was found volunteering for the program in Maryland. Under fear that pedophiles will volunteer to write dirty letters to children the post office now requires participating locations to encrypt the child’s last name and address on all letters.

Unfortunately the tiny post office in North Pole, AK will not be able to comply with these strict new regulations and has effectively dropped out of the program.

So now if your kid writes a letter to Santa it will probably have a postmark from Sheboygan.

When Hollywood’s first openly gay actor, Michael Kearns, first performed “intimacies” in Chicago in 1989 it received a very conflicted and controversial reception. A Chicago Reader review of “intimacies” from 1989 said: “All six of Michael Kearns’s AIDS-infected characters are the stereotypical dregs of society, full of hatred and self-loathing.”

Kearns now says of his characters in the current version of “intimacies” that they “will be different today than it was 20 years ago, because I have 20 years of new experience to bring to all six of them; 20 years of agony and ecstasy; 20 years of maturation as well as insidious addiction; 20 years of deaths and a few births.”

Michael Kearn’s “intimacies” is one night only this Sunday, November 22, 2009 at 7:30pm at Victory Gardens Biograph Theater mainstage, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago.

Michael’s show is the second in a series of performances in Victory Garden’s a Queer Theater Spotlight followed later this season by fellow queer icons Charles Busch and Julie Halston (December 7), and Tim Miller and Holly Hughes (March 15-21, 2010).

This is so totally messed up. Some folks in China have figured out how to fry and serve a fish while it’s still alive. Now if only if they could teach the fish to eat itself while it’s on the plate.

Out just posted some video clips showing a behind the scenes look of their 2009 Out 100 cover shoot. They all seem to be having a good time, not worrying about making Adam Lambert look “too gay” despite the alleged objectinos by the magzine’s editor.

The video confirms one thing, except Adam Lambert and Lt. Dan Choi, none of them were in the room together at the same time. You can see in the video how Cyndi Lauper and Wanda Sykes were shot on other days.

This flash mob as an ad for the The Forum in Australia features a drag queen led by about 100 dancers doing an impromptu dance medley at the beach.

One highlight of the video is when three little girls start bowing along with the drag queen. Check it out!

Sarah Palin’s book “Going Rogue” actually goes rogue and it’s taking no prisoners in this comedy bit on Jimmy Fallon’s talk show.

Out Magazine (the magazine about same-sex loving folks) came out with their 100 list people they consider to be outstanding and inspiring.

Inside the issue the editor Aaron Hicklin writes about the awkward handling Adam Lambert’s management team had with including him in the issue, complaining that:

It’s only because this cover is a group shot that includes a straight woman that your team would allow you to be photographed at all – albeit with the caveat that we must avoid making you look “too gay.”…Getting straight men and women to do Out is easy these days. It gives them cred. Getting gay stars like yourself is another matter. Much easier to stick you in Details, where your homosexuality can be neutralized by having you awkwardly grabbing a woman’s breast and saying, “Women are pretty.” So are kittens, Adam, but it doesn’t mean you have to make out with them.

Oh no he didn’t! Adam responded on his twitter:

It seems being in Out’s 100 list is a mixed blessing. Although it’s great to be celebrated for your achievements, it’s also painful and awkward to be held up as a cliche of yourself. Why the editor put out a letter complaining about the people in the issue is beyond me. If they are really so upset at Adam and his peeps demanding he be photographed next to Cyndi, why have him on the cover at all? Why hate when you can celebrate?

I feel his pain. I imagine it can’t be easy to balance out being open about your sexuality and trying to reach mainstream audience. It’s a noble task, and I celebrate him for trying to do it as a gay man.

If you wonder why Anderson Cooper doesn’t come out of the closet, this is a reason why.

In the past we’ve felt the love from Out magazine, and other times felt their cold shoulder too. I celebrate their recognition of two great bloggers, Pam Spaulding and Arjan but wish they could have included people like Cleve Jones or Gaye Adegbalola on the list. And of course, we’d like to see ourselves on that list too!

We’re thrilled they included some of our favorite guests: Ongina, Bebe Zahara Benet and Matt Albert on the list and we hope that their appearance on our show helped move their careers forward. Best of luck to you all!

Our guests are the backbone of our talk show and if we win the Peoples Choice Podcast award, our awards also belongs to them.

When these types of lists come out they make me to think about who inspires me
It’s time to think beyond the list and think about who personally inspires us. Who inspires you? I’d like to say many of the great guests we’ve had on the show in the past year motivate me personally to continue to work to put out this blog and podcast, but we’d like to hear from you, who rocks your world. Who should be on the list of 100 of the most fabulous people?

According to the video Juan Antonio Martínez Matos, the confessed killer of Jorge Steve López Mercado, has a record for domestic violence and claims he was sexually abused as a child.

He told police that he had a couple of drinks after work and went to Padial Street in Caguas to exchange drugs for sex with a sex worker.

He claims that he thought his victim was female all along, and got into an argument when he found out that Jorge wasn’t a girl and punched him.

One of his biggest concerns of the man who confessed to this horrendous murder is that he was worried the public will come to the conclusion that he himself is gay.

Messed up huh? He’s more worried that people will think he’s gay than a murderer.

We met Summer Nettles at a haunted house this past Halloween and fell in love. boy did we have some Summer lovin’. Summer brings her unique perspective as a talk radio personality and producer to Chicago’s 1035 Kiss FM.

She’s on today’s show talking about how she handles all the celebrity guests that come to her station and how she wooed the fabulous Wendy Williams to come in and tape an interview.

In college, Summer was involved with Snowball, a peer group advocating safer sex. It’s unusual name came from the hopes that the group would have a snowball effect, encouraging others to use protection. Luckily the Urban Dictionary wasn’t around back then, or they’d have to rename the group. Looks it up kids.

Summer’s had her own close encounters with STD’s of the third kind and is happy to talk about how angels or was it aliens, warned her off having sex with an ex-boyfriend.

Listen as we take a look at the tragic murder of 19 year old Jorge Steven Lopez Mercado of Puerto Rico who was brutally killed and dismembered. His killer has confessed to the crime and is citing “gay panic” as his defense.
