Waoh! Joseph Benjamin Was A Bus Conductor

2013-01-28T03:08:00.002-08:00

Never allow where you are today to limit your dreams!

Who would imagine our darling on screen was once a security guard? Joseph Benjamin is one of the most attractive faces in Nollywood. He has charmed his way into the hearts of many with his good looks and acting skills.

Joseph Benjamin was on Inspiration FM with Wana Udobang on the show ‘Talk About It’ when he disclosed the rough roads he had to travel before becoming who he is today...

“I’ve moved from being a bus conductor, security guard, waiter, worked in a Bakery, sold shoes at Balogun; then moved into IT before acting. People’s feedback on twitter showed how inspired they were with his story as he continued giving tips on how goals could be achieved. “Keep improving your craft. Nourish that which you have. Be your own inspiration!"

Speaking on start-up businesses, Benjamin had this to say, "Understand your market before you decide what you want to do."

The Kogi born actor has done enough to earn him a star status in Nollywood, but his role as co-presenter in MTN Project Fame West Africa shone the spotlight on him.

Tonto Dike Reveals the Man She Loves on Twitter

2013-01-27T23:07:00.003-08:00

Controversial Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh will not cease to swim in controversies and there is no doubt she's enjoying it. If you're a follower of the wild actress on her twitter handler, you would have noticed that she has included 'something' in her profile.

Below is what Tonto said about her love and other issues:

"Who eva said Succezz waz a slow procezz waz mos defntly not talking abt Mii/Businezz tycoon/Nollywood Actress *#IAMPOKO #Teamlovethyself #I luv TerryG."

You may wish to know that Terry G is one of the musicians that fancy the idea of impregnating ladies and making babies out of wedlock. His girl friend gave birth to a baby for him last year, so one wonders what Tonto Dike is up to this time.

Meanwhile, a close friend of the sultry actress said that she and Terry G will make a good companion, reason being that, Terry G enjoys 'hard drugs' and Tonto enjoys 'hard drinks'.

I just hope she's not considering becoming a baby mama for Mr Ginja.

US Govt bar former governor Lucky Igbinedion from entering the US

2013-01-15T04:48:00.001-08:00

Culled from Sahara Reporters

Former Governor Lucky Igbinedion of Edo State may no longer enter the US, SaharaReporters has discovered from sources in Washington, DC. One of the sources revealed that the American consular authorities had written to Mr. Igbinedion to tell him that he was no longer welcome in the US.

Another source indicated that the former governor, who has been convicted for corrupt practices shortly after his governorship term, had multiple entry visas to the US. "However, he has received a letter revoking his visa," said one source.

Our source in Washington, DC disclosed that the US government was reviewing the files of some of Nigeria's current and former government officials and will deny them visas once they are deemed undesirable on account of their engagement in corruption.

Nuella responds to reports she's dating a South-South Governor

2013-01-15T04:48:00.000-08:00

This is a press statement from actress Nuella Njubigbo's publicist reacting to a recent report by Stella Dimoko Korkus about Nuella being in a hot romance with a South-South governor. See it below....

Few days ago a report surfaced online that our client, Nuella Njubigbo is in a sizzling romance with a South-South governor, who bought her the 2012 Toyota Highlander SUV that was recently reported. We would have ignored this but seeing that it came from the same writer who had ’supposedly broken’ the news of Nuella’s ‘romantic dalliances’ with two other men in the last eight months; hence we chose otherwise.

Firstly, our client has never met with the said governor. How can you travel with and ‘romance’ someone you have never met? This kind of magic can only happen in the writer’s concoctions of lies.

See the rest after the cut...

The writer also claimed Nuella couldn’t have been able to buy the car in many years even if she saves rigorously. This is really laughable. It is a known fact that Nuella is one of the busiest actors in Asaba and Enugu, the nerve-centers of present-day Nollywood. For someone whose fee is over N500 000 (Five Hundred Thousand Naira)per movie, how impossible is it for her to buy the N8 million car the writer erroneously quoted?

And isn’t it ridiculous that we naturally come to the conclusion that men must always be behind the good fortune of every successful women in this part of the world? Women are not dummies; they have what it takes to succeed without warming the bed of any man or politician for that matter. Women at the top did not achieve prominence by crooked means. Hardwork pays. Simple!

It was this same writer who reported Nuella was pregnant recently. After realising the absurdity of her lie, she claimed it was a ’brief pregnancy’. Whatever that meant, she alone can explain.

She also claimed that Nuella rented an apartment in Enugu to live with a certain movie director. Several months after, she has not been able to prove her story as Nuella still lives in Lagos.

Recently, she wrote that Nuella was in a hot romance with a Nigerian professional footballer based in Russia. Now, it is a South-South governor and all these happened within the space of eight months.

The writer should be bold enough to say publicly what axe she has to grind with Nuella rather than hide behind the noble profession of journalism to execute her cheap hatchet job. An open declaration of her true intentions will probably confer on her some measure of respect which she desperately needs to salvage her dwindling career fortunes. Journalism is not for rumour mongers. We know it is her stock in trade to blackmail rising stars and 'A-listers' who are mostly her friends until they come and pay 'homage'. We won't be blackmailed under any circumstance.

We await her next line of action with full assurance that the subsequent set of lies will not go without legal response from our esteemed client.

Boko Haram Leader Captured With Security Guards

2013-01-15T01:10:00.003-08:00

A breakthrough came the way of security agents in their quest to defeat members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect, with the arrest of one of the sect’s deadly leaders, Hassan Pagi BUKAR.

He was captured in the residence of a 2003-2007 member of the House of Representatives (names withheld). The Boko Haram leader was, according to reports, arrested along with the security guard of the erstwhile lawmaker.

The one-time member of the House of Reps was arrested and interrogated. He is now a daily guest of the security agency that effected the arrest.

The arrest and interrogation of Bukar, a Boko Haram leader, had started yielding results. The arrest was made in the Gwarimpa area of the Federal Capital territory, FCT, Abuja.

For instance, the suspect reportedly disclosed, upon interrogation, that his brief as a sect member was to “carry out robbery activities by dispossessing members of the public of their cars”.

The security guard in the former House of the Reps member’s residence (who was described as a mere gateman) was said to have been “employed from Sokoto”.

During further interrogation of Bukar, it was learnt that he disclosed that the cars used for suicide bombings by the sect were stolen vehicles.

One of the very indicting statements of Bukar, the source said, “was that he implicated the former Reps Member by saying that he also buys some of the cars from him (Bukar) when they are stolen”

The University was “not carried along” in the research – UNIBEN Authorities Denounce Professor’s Alleged Cure to HIV/AIDS

2013-01-14T06:29:00.000-08:00

Authorities of the University of Benin, Edo state have faulted the claim made by one of its Professors who announced that he had discovered a drug for the cure of HIV/AIDS.

On Tuesday, Professor Isaiah Ibeh, the Dean of School of Basic Medical Sciences at the University told newsmen that the herbal drug had undergone “series of successful tests” and it would “permanently take care of what over time seems to have defied all solutions”.

As reported in Vanguard, he said that the oral drug was made from plants extraction in Nigeria for the possible cure of the pandemic, HIV and AIDS virus adding that research on the project was started in 2010 which culminated in the development of “Deconcotion X (DX)–Liquid or Bioclean 11 for the cure of HIV and AIDS”.

Ibeh also said that the drug had been exposed to series of medical examinations both in Nigeria and in the USA. He added that the drug had performed well on patients with the HIV virus and had shown evidence of total restoration of damaged tissues.

“The result showed an increase in the body weight of the individual administered with DX. The body weight was statistically significant when compared with the control group,” he was quoted as saying.
He said that further tests were being conducted to determine “at what point will a patient become negative after being administered the drug?” but that preliminary results showed that of the five latest patients orally administered with the drugs, in up to seven months , “three of them were siro negative while two were sill faintly positive.’’

His announcement was trailed with controversy which yesterday culminated in the announcement made by the authorities of the University. The Provost, College of Medical Sciences of the University, Prof. Vincent Iyawe told Vanguard that the institution was not in agreement with Prof. Ibeh’s claim for now, alleging that the University was, “not carried along” in the research.

“The School would like to take credit for a break- through, but it cannot align with the breakthrough because the College was not consulted, the University was not consulted, and he did not carry anybody along.

“There are protocols and procedures. Going from stage to stage, we ought to give it clinical trials, by taking it to the Federal Ministry of Health to do clinical trials and many other things involved. We also needed to take it to National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, and many other things had to be done before you come out with your claims, in addition to taking it to World Health Organisation.”

He said all the university was doing was to protect Prof. Ibeh and the integrity of the institution.
