Ramadhan

Ramadhan started a week ago. But, I'll be travelling far away to the north (work again.. sigh), where its summer time and the days are long.

I remembered our fasting in Manchester during summer Ramadhan. The break of fast is close to 9 pm. The children, especially Ika and Aisy, need to be distracted by activities to go thru these long hours ..

I have had a twitter account for a few years now, perhaps since 2009 if i am not mistaken.

My twitter handle is feizalkamarudin. I had wanted to use it to check up on old friends. Then I realized that not many of my old-school mates or ex-office mates has a twitter account. Perhaps people of my age do not use this mode of social media. At our age, only celebrities uses it, a friend joked. And politicians too ...

I'll still use it daily, I think I get news much faster thru this. And a much better place to rant.

Await new arrival to the family

March 2014 -

This is the month we expect to welcome a new addition to our family. A bit more nervous this time. Probably it's because the last newborn was in 2005.

It was a hot and dry month. The nation continues to pray for rainfall. I expect my water bill to go up as I have been watering our garden on a daily basis.

March this year also saw flight MH370 went mysteriously missing on destination to Beijing.

October '12 - Time flashes by

A month has passed since we left UK, time sure passed by - super fast here.
On return, straight to the family clinic. Ma'am got MC ... then reported for duty immediately. Bought some new school uniforms at Kipmart Tampoi for Ika and Faiz since they have started school (SRAB JB - thank you!), except the eldest - school-less for now. Efforts are underway to get him to a good secondary school. Already visited two (future) primary schools in Taman Perling. A trip to the jabatan pelajaran negeri requires we furnish tons of supporting documents, including their last school enrolment in Manchester, which we are still waiting a reply from. Everything in duplicates.. nasib printer rumah still working.

We've subscribed to Yes4G broadband - gotta be connected no matter.. i've sent CV by emails to several companies (yang ingat - JCorp and Bank Islam). Attended an interview on 24/10, and would be starting work beginning 1st November. I've also renewed a few things like driving license (online) , road tax and car insurance. A few Jusco trips to get new office clothes. No new pants though sebab yang lama still in good condition.

Still unemployed, I've already attended 2 days of Unit trust training in JB town to keep my membership at Public Mutual. Figured I should sell more Syariah-compliant investments for extra money.

We've driven to Kuala Pilah and spend 2 nights for Aidil Adha. On the way, singgah Segamat to pick up Yaya. The route takes us thru Gemas and Bahau on unfamiliar roads at night time. Pagi tu singgah pasar then Ma'am spent hours masak ayam and kambing to share amongst relatives. Tired but dapat at last jumpa Mak after almost a year. Oh, of course mak buat sop tulang untok makan dengan lemang.

Our house is forever in spring cleaning mode. Banyak buang barang2 lama. Awal2 lagi panggil kontraktor pasang paip luar rumah - for garden and washing machine. Garden just got new rumput mutiara coz tak tahan melayan rumput liar.

This weekend, ma'am's office ada family-day get-together in Desaru. So, more driving.. Every move kena spend $$$$ ....

Still cold days at this Victorian era house in Crumpsall. Obviously the dampness lingers, especially after it rains. And we know only how often Manchester gets sunny skies..Coat and thick jackets belum boleh simpan lagi. Kadang kala mcm hampir nak snow pun ada in April.

Community
Seems that many post-grad (M'sian) families are leaving this area. Mostly finishing their studies. So, the M'sian community might shrink further coupled with the rising rentals, transportation and fuel costs. Might be cheaper to stay close to the city. Fadil, a good friend, relocated to a Hulme city apartment, 2 weeks after his house was broken into. Lost a laptop and tv amongst others. But still, a blessing in disguise... Must factor in the eastern european komuniti bila cari rumah sini

Cuti Sekolah 2 minggu
This spring break we visited the War Museum in Salford, watched a movie at the Lowry cinema, near mediacity and had day-trip to Albert Docks in Liverpool. Letih sbb banyaknya muzium situ but sempat jugak cari masjid nearby for Zohor. Oh, we also rode the Manchester Eye (Wheel?) on its last day of operation.

Departed Senai Johor on the 2nd of Nov 2011 and arrived in Manchester the nxt day, around 9 pm, accompanied by me mum, Hjh Normah Idris.

After, about 3 weeks we got in the cable and broadband. I also found a 7-seater Vauxhall Zafira bought it from a Bangladeshi guy who lives in Bury in a bungalow. Saw his ad in motortrade. Thanks to Bro saiful at Brideoak street who sent me there. Yet to finalise the car insurance.

Our UK visas finally cleared this week. Now we need to fix flight dates.
My wish for a career change finally came thru. Shall be submitting the resignation letter in about 2 weeks time.

Its been a month since we moved in to our new home. We've moved out from the government quarters which we stayed for 7 years. The new neighbors are filled by residences and those working in the neighbouring country. A surau is currently being built. The kids still go to the same school SRAB in town for the time being. The house is still a mess. I think there's a mouse trapped somewhere.

There's no fixed line i.e. streamyx and the broadband we have is really slow .. That should explain why I didn't update this blog. Of course had to fight the web usage with the kids.

During the CNY break last week we traveled to K. Pilah. The week before was a trip to Mersing to check the kebun's progress. Nak kena beli baja ..Before that I flew up to Head Office in KL on Jan 27. Fireflyz seems OK. Oh and the new Senai Aeromall is completed. Still nothing spectacular there.

Its Johor State holiday today. Today marks the first day of the Holy month of Ramadhan. But the Mrs sufferred gastric since yesterday .. So she missed the 1st day. hope she'll be OK tomorrow. Ika too woke up early for sahur in the morning, but couldn't take it her asting past noon. Thanks to Faiz too, getting back his appetite.

Something cultural .. The picture at the side tells you who would come for a training session and bring along gallons of plain water from home to drink. I find it amusing! But, the malays could learn a thing or two on this but I don't wanna start a cultural revolution

I finally passed the Unit Trust exam, and now look forward to being a financial adviser, i.e. selling unit trust! Had to attend a revision class and do some studying to understand the concepts of unit trust. However, no need to compute EBITDA or PE ratios ...

There are several Shariah compliant products which caters to investors concerned on which Halal-investments to make .. I'm promoting these first..
