How you can help in 2011

Simply spread the word about Write a Post, Help a Dog 2011 and Pedigree will donate 20 pounds of food for each blog post. If you don’t have a blog feel free to tweet about the campaign or share on Facebook so your friends who do blog can participate. All bloggers are welcome even if you do not generally talk about pets on your blog. Its all about using Social Media for Social Good.
Here’s how it works:

The Write a Post, Help a Dog program is aimed at raising awareness of the more then 4 million dogs that wind up in shelters and breed rescues each year. As well as to help get them all food (our goal is 10,000 lbs of food in the next two weeks) for the more than four million dogs that wind up in shelters and breed rescues each year.
For each blog post mentioning the Pedigree Foundation from now until midnight ET on September 3, Pedigree will donate 20 pounds of its new dry Pedigree recipe food for dogs — its best recipe ever — to a shelter, because every dog deserves leading nutrition.
Feel free to mae your post more visually appealing by using either or both of the two images seen in this post.
The Pedigree Foundation — a 501 (C)(3) nonprofit organization is committed to helping dogs by providing grants to shelters and rescues and encouraging dog adoption. This year the Foundation has already raised more than $376,570 against its goal of $1.5 million to carry out its work to fund grants that not only help shelters operate, but to further shelter innovations.

I have decided that half of my profit from all sales will go to Lucky Star Cavalier Rescue. I met some of their volunteers at the Cavaliers Show we attended recently. The second I arrived on their site and I saw Pumpkin my heart melted. Who wouldn't love this little face. Poor Pumpkin was born in a Puppy Mill she was released to rescue because she was born with a life threatening defect and has gone through major reconstructive surgery to save her life. It seems like it took them a while to find her defect probably when they stole her away from her momma to put on the truck to go to the pet store. Thank goodness she is safe and loved and given a chance at a happy life.

Of course with any rescue that comes at a price and her bills are mounting. Hopefully some of our stylish pet mommies out there are looking for some new everyday accessories or birthday gifts or something special to wear to a wedding.

I had to look around and I found this sweet looking Black and Tan boy. I want him! I wish I could take him in. Oh maybe I will forward his picture to my parents they are looking to adopt a new dog and he is located in Georgia. I think that is what I am going to do. They were looking for a big dog but I think they need a small dog now. Duke is 7 years old and has found himself in rescue because his owner died :( Here's what they have to say about him:

Duke is housebroken, crate trained, and in overall good health. He has been diagnosed with a Grade 3 heart murmur, but is asymptomatic and does not require medication at this time. Duke is a wonderful companion and just wants to be with his owner. He follows his foster Dad from room to room all day long.

It hard enough to find a Black and Tan Cavalier because of genetics I image they are almost unheard of in rescue.

First Full Week on the Visalus Challenge and I Lost 3.4lbs!

WooHoo in my first full week on the Body By Vi Challenge I have lost 3.4lbs. I am so excited you have no idea. I truly feel better already. I made a few tweaks throughout the week as I went along figuring out what would work for me and what didn't.

I blend my Shake with Light Silk Vanilla when originally I had purchased the regular Vanilla and Chocolate to see which I liked better and for variety. I found the chocolate to be so rich and thick that I just couldn't use it. I also found that I was just too full using the Vanilla Silk and sometimes couldn't get in the second shake at lunch r any other time between my first shake and when I went to have dinner. I decided that I would try the Light Silk and have found it to work really well for me. I blend it with 4 or 5 ice-cube tray sized ice-cubes. Generally once a day I will mix in the Vi-Trim packet to help keep me fuller longer and once a day I will add one of the Healthy Flavor Packets. I am partial to the Energy Banana, Chocolate Cardio Care, and the Orange Immune Boost. I personally hate strawberry so I can't bring myself to try it and I am a little scared (I am either going to love it or hate it and I don't want to waste a shake) of the Peach which is for healthy skin and nails.

I have started drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day that is just 4 refills on a regular sized water bottle. I keep them in the fridge to stay nice and cool until I am ready for the next bottle. The first day I couldn't drink all 8 glasses and not even a week later I am currently on glass number 9 for the day. I eat a regular hot dinner I eat what I want for dinner because this has to be a lifestyle for me not a quick fix that will not last. I need to feel satisfied and full, I don't want to find myself wanting to eat anything that is not nailed down.

I took before head shots and did my measurements but I didn't get full body shots yet. My mom is coming to visit (Hi Mom I know you are reading this post) so I will ask her to take some for me. Have to remember to charge my camera batteries tomorrow so they are full.

Well it is getting late again and I want to relax a little before I go to sleep tonight but I wanted to post this for all of the amazing Friday Blog Hops before I went to sleep.

Welcome Wednesday and My 90 Day Challenge

Its been a while since I really felt like posting anything here. I just feel like all I do here is promote, promote, promote and while it is fun to show off the Jewelry it isn't connecting with any of you. I am taking at my readers not with them as opposed to my other blog Two Little Cavaliers which is a fun place for me to visit and create new posts. I feel like it is dynamic and that I have conversations with my readers and that we have something to bond over.

Stella & Dot Jewelry is lovely and fun and affordable and I love the company but if you don't feel good about yourself and aren't happy and healthy no amount of Jewelry will change that. Several weeks ago I was introduced to a Health and Wellness Company called Visalus where they have created a 90 Day Challenge to help you achieve a Healthier, Happier YOU! I had some questions about the product and I guess I just didn't really look hard enough for my answers because they were right there on the page I did email someone for the answers to see if it was something I could even consider. I am allergic to Gluten so there are a lot of Food Products out there that are just not an option for me PERIOD.

I finally heard back that not only are the Visalus Protein Shakes Gluten Free they are Lactose Free and Kosher Certified OU- Dairy! 90 Days is 12 weeks which is so doable. Obviously if you have 500lbs to loose you aren't going to do that in your first 90 Days but it gives you an attainable goal. On the other hand if you are using the program to get ready for a Marathon or to prepare for your School Sport you will get there in 90 Days.

My 90 Day goal is 35lbs and I really really want to achieve it. I am on Day TWO of my Challenge and I am so excited.

This isn't the kind of program where you have to mix your nasty protein shake with water in fact the powder literally smells and tastes like vanilla cake mix (yes I wet my finger and stuck it in the packet to taste it) I recommend (and it was recommended to me that you use Van. / Choc. Silk or almond milk). In fact for those of you who use Weight Watchers points the Visalus Shake made with Vanilla Silk is only 3 POINTS! I received an email that Stella & Dot will be coming to visit us in Miami on June 8th for a little meet and greet time! You have no idea how excited I am about this news. I don't have any details yet other then the date but I hope to be working with the Home Office to make this event amazing. Whenever I post I generally try to highlight the less expensive pieces in the Stella & Dot Collection so you all can see just how affordable the collection really is but every once in a while we feel like splurging so today's post is going to highlight our big ticket items.

My thoughts on this Necklace
This necklace has never been a favorite of mine in fact I don't even own it a part of my sample collection. However for some reason I feel like today for the first time I could feel comfortable wearing this necklace. Maybe it is the summer sun or the combination of colors in this necklace but today I was out running some errands and thought to myself I wish this necklace was a part of my collection. I am thinking this will be the next big addition.

About the Happy Flowers Necklace
Inspired by two vintage brooches our designer Blythe, found in her grandmother's jewlery box. Thank you Dot for the amazing vintage style. Happy flowers dance on a 14kt gold plated chain. Genuine Mother of Pearl, resin and hand painted flowers. 18” length with a 2” extender. Lobster clasp.
This necklace IS the outfit! So what to wear it with? You'd be amazed at the range. Colors: Put it over color for a fun splash- try orange, purple, pink and yellow. Of course, white and black look fantastic. Necklines: Over a crew new, or against the skin on a button down or v-neck. Strapless is also stunning.

My thoughts on the Necklace
This necklace to me screams summer trip to the Jersey Shore or sitting at an outdoor cafe on South Beach. The necklace reminds me of the Ocean. This necklace is a huge statement piece that you can dress up or wear with jeans and a t-shirt. I am a hug fan of Jade every since my trips to the Jade Market in Hong Kong and I like how it is incorporated into this necklace.

Yes that is Stella & Dot in a Jewelry Tray floating in the Pool. I have wanted to take a few pictures of the Jewelry out by the pool to kind of show that Spring is really here. I think I might have to see if I can borrow my neighbor's pool to take more tropical pictures because my yard is currently a mess from all the Oak Trees loosing their leaves (in Miami Oak trees loose their leaves after the winter). No you absolutely cannot see pictures of the mess sorry. So back to my mini photo shoot. It was actually a lot of fun and I think I am going to redo a few pictures using palm fronds and other tropical flowers, fruits etc. I also want to see what it looks like floating some tea lights next to the Jewelry in the evening. I will need a helper this time around because I almost had to jump in the pool after a tray of Jewelry when it got caught up in the water jets and floated away.
