  • MySQL 5.5.25
  • PHP 5.3.15 with Suhosin-Patch
  • Apache 2.2
  • CodeIgniter 2.1.1
  • DataMapper 1.8.3
  • my-CIUnit 0.18-dev_for_CI2.1.0

The normal CodeIgniter was alredy running withour any problems.

Then I basically followed the instructions from this site to insall PHPUnit and my-CIUnit.

But when I tried to run the example tests I got an error:

[CIUnit] Error: 500 Message: Unable to connect to your database server using the provided settings. Filename: third_party/datamapper/system/DB.php Line Number: 150

I was confused, because when running the app from the browser everything just worked fine.

After digging a while in the source I found out that the problem was in calling the “mysql_connect” or “mysql_pconnect” statement in the db driver class. And because of the functions where called with an @ in fron the originally error message was lost. I changed the line and got the original message:

[CIUnit] PHP Error: Warning - mysqli_connect(): [2002] No such file or directory (trying to connect via unix:///var/mysql/mysql.sock) File Path: mysqli/mysqli_driver.php (line: 76)

and

[CIUnit] PHP Error: Warning - mysqli_connect(): (HY000/2002): No such file or directory File Path: mysqli/mysqli_driver.php (line: 76)

After asking google I found out that this problem is already known and is OSX specific. Luckily there was already a soultion for the problem.

After changing “localhost” to “127.0.0.1” and also unchecking the box “Allow local access only” in my MAMP Pro preferences I got my setup up running.
