This year we are celebrating Good Friday at one of Dallas’ trendiest locations, Klyde Warren Park. It offers a new experience in an incredible location, a park that bridges Downtown & Uptown Dallas. We wanted an environment that would welcome any and everyone to experience the good news that Good Friday brings! We are planning some great elements for Good Friday and are looking forward to a powerful message by Pastor Ed Young! This  series generated tons of buzz in the community; people were intrigued, excited, and some a little offended by the series artwork. Our Fellowship Church design team pulls off nothing short of the miraculous for each series. They dream up trendy innovative artwork, which in essence becomes the face of a series.We asked them to give the inside scoop on the design aspect of this series artwork.

From the dreaming process all the way to the completion, here’s what they had to say:

Once we knew the title of the series we started throwing out different ideas for artwork. We knew we wanted something striking, so someone could look at it and know that we would be discussing controversial celebrities in church! What’s more controversial than showing these talked about celebs sitting next to Jesus. Then we took it one step further and picked Leonardo da Vinci’s work, The Last Supper, and photo shopped these celebs in. Some of them just fell perfectly into place, the disciple that we photoshopped Lebron James over was already pointing upward, so we just added a basketball. We decided to put Ellen Degeneres right next to Jesus, because He didn’t separate Himself from sinners. It shook things up to have her at the right-hand of Jesus.

We also printed a huge foam board of the artwork and took it to the streets to see how people would react. The responses ranged from laughter, outrage , and everywhere in between. Some people said they would come to church just because it was controversial, and they were curious to know what Pastor Ed would have to say. Others said that taking this classic setting and inserting vain, worldly celebrities was sacrilegious. Either way, people were talking about it or their curiosity was peaked. And that’s what we wanted, we created a product that generated curiosity, and because of that, life-change happened. We don’t push boundaries just for the sake of it, it’s within reason, it’s for a greater purpose than buzz, it’s for souls.

Each video contains audio tracks – here is a breakdown of those tracks:

Track 2 – Stereo track Right (to play out loud in your worship center underneath your singer/band)

FC Creative Night is about getting together with other creatives to hang out, reach out, and grow together.

All of our DFW campuses are uniting at the Grapevine campus for the Saturday March 16, 5pm worship experience and then taking over the FC Lake with some food, community and friendly, campus competition! Each campus is going to need to represent and bring their creative A-game – it’s a competition you won’t expect!
