A spiritual and saving knowledge of God is the greatest need of every man or woman. For it is as we see God that we ourselves will be changed to reflect Him. This is an exciting study to search the scriptures and see all that God has to say about Himself. “The people that do KNOW THEIR GOD shall be strong and do exploits.” (Daniel 11:32)

The Valley of Dry Bones

 ¹ The hand of the LORD was upon me, and he brought me out in the Spirit of the LORD and set me down in the middle of the valley;^[a] it was full of bones. ² And he led me around among them, and behold, there were very many on the surface of the valley, and behold, they were very dry. ³ And he said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord GOD, you know.” ⁴ Then he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. ⁵ Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath^[b] to enter you, and you shall live. ⁶And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live,and you shall know that I am the LORD.”

 ⁷ So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I prophesied, there was a sound, and behold, a rattling,^[c] and the bones came together, bone to its bone. ⁸ And I looked, and behold, there were sinews on them, and flesh had come upon them, and skin had covered them. But there was no breath in them. ⁹ Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, Thus says the Lord GOD: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.” ¹⁰ So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army.

 ¹¹ Then he said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are indeed cut off.’ ¹² Therefore prophesy, and say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I will open your graves and raise you from your graves, O my people. And I will bring you into the land of Israel. ¹³ And you shall know that I am the LORD, when I open your graves, and raise you from your graves, O my people. ¹⁴ AndI will put my Spirit within you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I am the LORD;I have spoken, and I will do it, declares the LORD.”

Altars in the Bible represent a special meeting place between God and the people who sought Him. It was at these altars that God revealed Himself in a very powerful, personal, and special way. Together, during the corporate fast we will seek to build such an altar with the living Lord.

We have participated, another year, in Sarasota’s Mayor’s Feed the Hungry Program. For the entire month of November, we had boxes located in the lobby as you walk into the church, where we collected the canned and boxed goods for needy families around the Sarasota/Bradenton area. Every Monday when we came into work, we were so excited to see the boxes filling up so quickly! FOB  donated so much to this ministry and cannot wait until next year… I think we may have some fun ideas for the Pastors and Ministry leaders! You won’t want to miss the excitement!

The Mayors’ Feed the Hungry Program is an all volunteer organization consisted of charitable groups,  religious institutions and service agencies endorsed by the Mayors of: Sarasota; Venice, Bradenton; Longboat Key; North Port, Palmetto and the County Commission Chairpersons of Manatee and Sarasota Counties.  They have no paid employees, and no expenses for offices or storage spaces.  Everything they collect will always be given away free to those in need in our local communities. God has done amazing things during our “WALL” Outreach on November 5, 12 & 19. The Holy Spirit led us to do an outreach in “Our Jerusalem” (local area), and He led us to Leisure Lakes, a community of 300 homes. He said we’d reach the community through the kids (200 showed up for the Block Party). He led us to work with other churches; The Tabernacle, Living Sanctuary, Restoration Fellowship, and F.O.B. all teamed up. What a blessing! We blessed Lesiure Lakes with an act of kindness – tearing down the crumbling entry wall, and replacing it with a landscaped entry. Plus trimming entry and median trees and bushes.

We blessed them again with a Block Party! We provided free food, clothes, and hair cuts. We also had children’s stories, bouce houses, a fire truck, and a prayer tent. It was awesome! There were approximately 100 workers from the churches and 300 people from the neighborhood attended. Anita Gerbig, the Event Coordinator, along with Ken Wall, arranged a Jerico Walk around the Neighboorhood deom seven straight days… blowing the shofar on the last day. All of this was led by God through consistent prayer.

The third segment of our outreach was on Saturday, November 19… Adopt-a Block! We went into the neighborhood with other churches and ministries to begin regular monthly neighborhood walks to establish and build relationships.

FOB Bell Ringing Outreach

 The Salvation Army is an outstanding organization supporting the needy in our area. They offer Emergency Shelters, Daily Feeding Programs, Transitional Housing Services, Families in Transitional Housing, Rehabilitation & Counseling, Emergency Financial Assistance, Disaster Services, Life Skills Programs, Emergency Food Pantry, Volunteer opportunities and much more!

Bell ringers will be represented by various churches in the Sarasota and Bradenton area. FOB will be ringing bells at Publix on Beneva Road, just a few blocks away from the church. This year we will be doing 2 – hour shifts from 11 am to 7 pm, Monday to Saturday from Nov 26 through Dec 24. Join us as a church family and ring the bells this Christmas season.
